Rockaway roasters is a must stop if you find yourself in far rockaway. The menu has plenty of good eats, some highlights being the açaí bowls which are incredibly fresh and the perfect blend between frozen and not too hard, and the pastries such as their croissants. The drinks are delicious as well with the iced chai being my preference. It's never too sweet and doesn't taste burnt as some often do. The inside is small with a couple of tables, it's definitely more of a grab and go place and the staff is always efficient

One of the best coffee shops in New York City. Great for a weekend treat, great if you want to do a meeting, not just for beach days but for cold rainy days as well. In other words, this is a place I love to frequent. They have a great menu, great, healthy, snacks, and juices, and they have my coffee just the way I want it. It's worth the trip coming out to Rockaway Beach to check it out. The staff and the owners are very pleasant, which makes it even better.

I can't speak about the coffee or juice but the pastries are horrendous. I got a blueberry danish and the blueberries tasted rancid and the pastry itself was rock hard. The plain croissant was very underwhelming. Terrible horrific pastries not worth any money. I had to spit it out and throw it in the trash. I only went because Fat cardinal was closed that day. Go there instead for actual proper baked goods

I ordered a dirty chai, which was amazing. Probably the best I've had. Service was also good. I also ordered a goat cheese quiche and unfortunately it was inedible. It had a distinct refrigerator taste to it. Not sure how food items are stored but it did not taste fresh. I would return for the drinks.

Very good. Impressed their waffles were gluten-free with almond flour and had 8g of protein. Caramelized bananas and maple syrup was a solid way to sweeten it up. Açai bowl was average. Not the best but certainly tasty. Staff was very kind and place was clean. Pricey but would recommend before and/or after the beach.

Awesome waffles. Matcha is alright. They also do TGTG, only got a bag once from them but it was decent. Cute little coffee shop. Seating is limited.

We loved this place! The food was all beyond delicious. The staff was great. We had the overnight oats and açaí bowl, both of which we were really satisfied with. Good sized portions and priced well. Nice beach vibe and was perfect before we headed out for a day in the sun.

Small unassuming and cute cafe. Not too busy. Closes early, but it's a cool spot off the main road.

EXTREMELY slow. Takes them 15-20 min to process one person. The staff is nice but it's painful that it is so slow.

Rude staff. Rushed my order and didn't care to make a misunderstanding right. The worker raised their voice at me instead

Locals Collective is such a sweet l'il cafe. The vibe is relaxed and lovely, with friendly, helpful staff (especially the woman wearing the ramen cat shirt, whose name I didn't get, unfortunately). The menu is small, but includes some healthy options like the breakfast sammy (with two eggs, avocado, sprouts, tomato, Monterey Jack cheese, and spicy aioli on whole grain toast), acai bowls, wraps, overnight oats and that sort of thing. The breakfast sandwich wasn't very big -- or rather it was a normal size, well filled, but made with commercially standard-size sliced bread, not a hero, sub, or roll -- and was perhaps a touch spendy at $12. The Progeny inhaled the sandwich after snarfing down a sushi roll we'd brought -- and still wanted two large protein bars, after. (I guess surfing cultivates a good appetite.) He said he enjoyed it, though. My iced coffee was a touch weak, but serviceable. There's pleasant seating indoors and out, with a few folks working on laptops. There are quite a few dining options on this particular block, including burritos, pizza, ice cream, and a few full-service restaurants -- but in terms of aesthetics and overall look-feel, Locals Collective takes the win. Surf boards (I think soft tops only) are available for rent at Locals Collective, for $35 / 2 hours. Prices are a bit higher than at Breakwater Surf, which rents for a jaw droppingly low price of $5 an hour -- but Locals does offer additional amenities like changing rooms and a shower, which I'm prima-donna enough to think is worth it. You can also rent a wet suit, which you'll probably want if the air temp is anything cooler than 75F. Waves at Beach 68 are fairly small, but reportedly consistent. We'll be back for more, I'm sure.

Everything on the menu sounded amazing and I decided to get the BLT on Focaccia. I was disappointed with the sandwich. For the price I was expecting a large, lush, fresh sandwich but instead it was the opposite. The bread was hard and not as soft and chewy like it should be. The bacon came straight from a container; wasn't heated up, just added cold to the sandwich and all the arugula leaves had tiny holes, which didnt make me confident it was stored safely or even cleaned properly; i took it off before eating the sandwich, which tasted very basic. I would definitely try something else to see if it's any better but I was disappointed with the product i received compared to the price.

There is a variety including both classics, but also things I have only seen here. The apple pie is just perfect, apples layered with cinnamon and a flaky crust. The Salted Butterscotch Blondie was incredible. I have had their Bacon, egg, and cheese on a biscuit and it was excellent. The biscuit was flaky and is just as good as the ones I've had in South Carolina. I also really like their smoked salmon on an everything bagel croissant sandwich. The service is amazing. They are kind, helpful, and it has a very homey vibe. Paying with Venmo is different, but not a big deal, and by the second time I went there, it was just second nature. I would recommend this place to anyone, and plan to go over and over while I live in Arverne.
