This Dr. Has absolutely has no bedside manner. I went to see him about a thyroid problem, and he started to tell me that my dry skin, hair falling out, tiredness, and weight was not due to my thyroid. I have NEVER been so talked down to in my life. I will not go back and will not refer him to anyone. If he is not liking his job, or is having a bad day then maybe he just needs to stay home. After my first appointment which began 45 mins late, Dr. Isaacs prescribed a medication that required a prior authorization. When I received the denial of coverage letter, I immediately contacted my insurance. They said that Dr. Isaacs would need to provide three additional clinical data points in order to cover the medication. Since I qualified for coverage based on the clinical data, I was dismayed to learn that Dr. Isaacs refused to resubmit the PA with the requested information. He said, there's nothing else I can do at this point." That answer was perplexing, since it was clear THERE WAS SOMETHING he could do: he could take 5 mins to provide the clinical data that was requested. His failure to do so was inexplicable. Now, I'll have to find a new doctor to prescribe the same medication and begin the entire process all over again, which will likely delay my treatment for a month. So it seems it's okay for Dr. Isaacs to keep his patients waiting 45 minutes to give an interview to local TV news but he won't take 5 minutes to help his patient get a medication covered? The miscommunication with this office is unbelievable. The DR would not help manage a simple medication change via phone call for prescribed medication that was not covered by insurance. He wanted another office visit in order make this change. Also, they did not have my follow up appointment on record that I made in person before I left my last appointment. I could have attended that appointment within 3 weeks but was forced to wait more than a month for another open appointment. I told the lady what information I wanted relayed to the doctor after this mishap and she accused me of being disrespectful and ordering her around. I did not yell nor use any profanity. Dr Isaac did seem like he wanted to help. I think this office typically deals with people that want to lose weight more than have an actual difficult diagnosis. The office got my fasting information wrong. I looked up all the codes and when asked about it, the doctor said it didn't matter. He didn't explain anything to me. Everything I was doing he said was wrong. He prescribed pills that gave me unimaginable stomach pains and indigestion. A week in it was too painful for me. Each visit was expensive and I was paying out of pocket. I saw the reviews since years back dealing with my issue but I was desperate. Arrived for an appointment. Upon obtaining information from receptionist found that the doctor would not be able to provide the service I needed which was not communicated to me at the time the appt was made over the phone. Explained based on info given prior to seeing doctor it did not make since to pay fees and not be able to get what I needed. They do not have any of my medical information, etc as no documents were given or even loaded into their system. I have been receiving text messages for me to pay a missed appt fee even though I went to the office on the scheduled day and time but only talked with front desk personnel. Is this doctor so hungry for money by letting such a charge even go out instead of his office person explaining things over the phone as to what concerns can be addressed before even scheduling appointments for people. They want money regardless with no consideration to a person's issue, time and expense of a wasted trip do to poor communication on their part. Public beware! Questionable practices! read more

Aileen, the office manager, sent a no show appointment charge in the mail to our address I'm California for $75 because I didn't go to an appointment that was made for Dr Isaacs which I don't remember ever scheduling. Aileen was quite abrupt on the phone and didn't seem to care about the fact I don't remember making the appointment. She said reminders were sent. When I asked her to confirm where, she wouldn't confirm. I am not an established patient. I have never seen this doctor. Why should I be charged $75 for a no show appointment for a doctor I have never seen nor remember ever making an appointment for? I'm sure you are a good doctor Dr Isaacs. I have had Hashi for years, meds all seemed basically little or no effect, constant pain, tired, everything was a food sensitivity trigger and I gained 40lbs... nothing was really working. I've been seeing Dr. Isaacs for over half a year but the change for better started on day one with him and his team. In one visit Dr. Isaacs saw things other doctors who aren't an expert at the level he is just couldn't see, he saw problems with my compound meds, expensive pointless supplements other doctors had me taking, he helped me better evaluate my food regiment and lifestyle + eating time issues that were keeping me from my goals. He confidently pointed the issues and better paths out and although I was new to his serious demeanor I chose to trust and believe his seriousness extended to being serious about my health and I'm so glad I did!!!! Using the meds and regiment and steps he prescribed have enhanced my quality life, helped me finally be able to lose weight and helped me be able to finally start eating more normally. He is not like other Endo's who will do the bare minimum- he is an expert, he is serious about it and he is really helping me. I hope this helps others get the blessing of his expertise as well. The only added benefit is how pleasant, on top of processes/follow up and professional his staff is. i was looking forward to my appointment because I was starting medication that could affect your thyroid, i also have nodules and an enlarged thyroid. my appointment with dr. issacs was very uncomfortable. he kept grilling me on the labs that I brought. i brought them so he had an idea of my past labs. i showed him ultrasound results from my thyroid in order for him to have them to compare with a new ultrasound, but he said he didnt understand them. he was surprised that I had been given a prescription for Mounjaro but didnt ask me about how it is going. but the worst part was that when he ordered blood work, he did not order not one thyroid blood test, which is why i was there. I questioned him about it and he had not answer. he was more focused on other random tests results that I had. I cannot access my blood results nor my ultrasound results to take them to another doctor. but he has charged me. has anyone ever gone to a thyroid doctor and not have them take blood test to check your thyroid?? and he didnt care that I was on medicine for prediabetes. he didnt ask me about it. this is his practice. very combative with me. i felt like I had to justify and explain all of my previous lab results with him. Update Since Leaving This Review: The following day I received a text, email and phone call asking me to schedule a follow up appointment. I never received these before so I find it interesting that now I'm suddenly receiving these. I also received a notification that my online portal had been deleted before receiving the text, email and phone call telling me to schedule my next appointment. Why contact me to come in after I told Dr. Isaacs that I won't be coming back and after he canceled my online patient portal. I obviously took screen shots of all the messages because I'm not stupid. Also, I may have experienced an early pregnancy miscarriage potentially due to stopping the medication prescribed by Dr. Isaacs that I'd asked him about and he refused to let me know if I should or should not expect side effects from stopping this medication. I have an appointment scheduled with my OBGYN to find out if stopping this medication has caused me any harm. Original Review: I'm disappointed to have to give Dr. Isaacs a 1-star review because I felt we started on a great foot. I initially felt like he cared about helping me find solutions. This was until I ran into a financial hardship for a few months and couldn't go in for a follow up appointment. All of my previous appointments are 100% paid for. I don't owe them anything. And to keep it that way I communicated that I needed to push my follow up appointment back. I understood that meant I had to stop taking the medication I was on for about a month or so until I could get in. I was understanding of that. When I reached out to Dr. Isaacs to ask him a question about potential side effects from stopping this medication that he prescribed me through July (It's now August) he refused to answer my question unless I scheduled a follow up appointment with him. The answer would've been "yes, that can happen" or "no that's not common." I was fully prepared to schedule that appointment just as I'd previously communicated with him; however, the tone of bribery and ultimatums in his response turned me completely off from wanting to ever step foot in his office again. I had recently gained a significant amount of weight despite working out several times a week and eating a sensible diet (so I thought). I was concerned to the point of visiting my primary care doc, another endocrinologist, and my GYN, who all concluded they found nothing abnormal; one even suggested that I join Weight Watchers! It took a visit to a cardiologist who noted abnormalities and referred me to Dr. Isaacs. At the office, I met with Janet, Dr. Isaacs' nurse. She was kind, patient, and nonjudgmental when I told her my health and family history while she took my vitals, which helped ease my nerves. Dr. Isaacs and I discussed my symptoms in detail. He was easy to talk to, highly competent, and has the body of research/work to back it up. He pointed out that my diet was a likely culprit (he actually took me to task about my love for buttered popcorn), but he wanted to rule out other issues. The phlebotomist was very personable and one of the rare medical professionals who could find my elusive "rolling" vein and prevented me from getting a painful butterfly injection on my hand. Per the doc's instructions, no fewer than seven vials were taken, and I was given a half-gallon jug to collect urine for further analysis. I received my results via US Mail about three days later; they were five pages long! I contacted the office, and Janet immediately interpreted the results. There was more to my weight gain, which I won't go into detail because of privacy issues--but they were enough to cause major concern. I took the results to my GYN, dermatologist, and primary care physician, who utilized them to coordinate a plan of care to get me back on track. They were all familiar with Dr. Isaacs and his extensive work in the endocrinology field, so they took his diagnosis quite seriously. I recently had a follow-up appointment and, although I've fallen through with my weight loss goals (my fault), my underlying, potentially dangerous conditions had subsided, to my relief. I have recommended Dr. Isaacs to my over-40 friends who also are having metabolic issues. I just need to get my eating habits back on point! :) read more

If you do a Google search for Dr. Isaacs, you'll find that he is a prolific writer and is often featured on CNN and other news outlets. Being a medical expert doesn't always correlate with being a great doctor -- but in this case, after three visits with Dr. Isaacs, I can see what all the hype is about. First of all, Dr. Isaacs knows how to listen. I never felt rushed, and he has never been condescending or dismissive of my concerns. He is confident and articulate -- not arrogant, as some other reviewers mentioned. I feel fortunate to have found such a fantastic endocrinologist, and have already recommended Dr. Isaacs to a friend who also suffers from hypothyroidism. read more

I was diagnosed with diabetes, hypothyroidism and high blood pressure in my early 40s. Most of that was genetics but I added to my genetic predisposition by allowing my weight to balloon. Dr. Isaacs' book "Hormonal Balance" and "The Leptin Boost Diet" came across my desk as a Georgia Author of the Year nominee. I read the books twice and finally contacted Dr. Isaacs and began seeing him in Feb 2010. Since then - 23 weeks later - I have lost nearly 40 pounds, dropped 4 sizes, dropped 3 medicines (2 for blood pressure), I exercise more than ever and my blood sugar levels are within the normal range. No one understands people who struggle to lose weight than Dr. Isaacs and his team of health educators. I wish anyone who has trouble losing weight, but really needs to for health reasons would contact Dr. Isaacs at the Intelligent Health Center. It i s your life. I would agree with those who said this doctor was not helpful. He hardly spent 7 mins with me. He charged me a fortune even though I can with recent blood-work. I was referred to Dr. Isaacs by my PCP for weight loss. I only met with Dr. Isaacs about three times. Each time I met with him I left feeling as if he did not care about my health. I did not meet his patient demographics so our interactions were short, cold, and impersonal. He came across as dismissive, arrogant, and very condescending. He didn't take time to understand my family dynamics before prescribing me with a weight loss medication that I couldn't afford and, therefore, wouldn't be able to maintain compliance in order to lose weight. I didn't feel as if there was a genuine concern from Dr. Isaacs about getting me to a healthy weight. I've had some wonderful experiences with other physicians and medical professionals in metro Atlanta. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them. read more

It is the nicest doctors office I have ever been to. The waiting area is huge, with comfortable couch, and chairs. Warm lighting to easy your mood. They also provide variety of organic teas, coffee, water while you wait. The staff are so professional, and pretty. It is also a weight lost clinic, so the staff there def give you a good idea of what maintaining a good health should look like. Everyone is dressed nicely in their own clothes, only the blood work lady is in scrubs, so you would feel warm, and not being scared with all the masks, and uniforms like other places. I waited about 30 min to be seen by a nurse, she weighted me, and tested my blood pressure. The doctor came into the room shortly after that, and he was very patient, and willing to listen. He asked me first about my condition, and then asked what I was concerned about, he answered all my questions accordingly base on the info I provided since it was my first visit. He then did a couple of physical tests, then sent me to do the blood work. I would def suggest that you bring your most recent blood work, mine was from jan this year, that way, he would have a basic idea of how healthy you are, and determine what kind of blood tests are needed, also to avoid the unnecessary blood drawns since its the first visit. Overall, it was a very patient friendly environment, clean, comfortable setting, with very friendly staff. Doctor himself is very well dressed, and seemed knowledgable and, obviously he has published books, they are on display at the waiting area also. Good luck! read more

I arrived at Scott Isaacs office 20 minutes late for my appointment due to traffic. When I arrive, their office fails to tell me that I will have to wait three hours to be able to have the appointment I have been waiting weeks to have. They then tell me, after an hour, that I can reschedule in another month. What kind of kind service is this? When you are sick, you should not be denied for coming in a little late. I should have been told by the staff that I would have to wait over 3 hours or a month to see a doctor. Completely unacceptable and rude. I would NOT recommend. read more

While Dr. Isaacs does have a bit of a brusque manner, he is unquestionably the leading practitioner in his field in Atlanta and, perhaps, the country. I have taken the time to read his books (no small task -- they are very detailed and somewhat dry) and have a high opinion of his knowledge and understanding. My experience with him has been very positive. He has taken me from a borderline diabetic situation to nearly perfect blood chemistry. It hasn't been easy and managing my health is an ongoing challenge. In the end, however, it is important to note that this doctor knows what he is doing and has successfully helped me, as well as untold hundreds like me. My hat's off to Dr. Isaacs and I recommend his practice to anyone -- especially folks who are battling diabetes or other metabolic issues. read more

It negative star this if I could. I went to the doc with serious concerns about weight gain and hypoglycemia attacks. I had been told by my GYN to consider metformin. I went to Isaacs for help but instead was ridiculed. NEVER TRUST HIM FOR ENDOCRINE MANAGEMENT... he mocked my symptoms, told me it was in my head and that if it were true, I would have had seizures. Told me metformin would lower my sugars (I'm a family practice provider so I knew his knowledge of pharmacology was off). Fast forward, found a new endo at Piedmont ( who I HIGHLY recommend). I was diagnosed with PCOS, had labwork confirming my hypo spells, and was put on metformin. It changed my life!!!! I can now get up and dressed without shaking, sweating and feeling like I'll pass out unless I eat if I take it nightly. My advice is not to see a doc who wants to sell product. After researching Dr's to try to find someone who could help my husband with his weight problems, we thought that Dr. Issacs might have the right approach. We hoped to get answers and a solution as to why my husband can not lose weight. We even had a family member who is a medical professional help us in selecting Dr. Issacs. Unfortunately, the experience was a complete bust. Blood was taken, tests were run, medication dispensed. When it was determined that the medication was not working and his weight remained unchanged, Dr. Issacs told my husband to go on a 2000 calorie diet and come back in 6 months. No plan or support was provided. Not to mention that caloric intake is not the issue. As a couple, we are so frustrated that we invested the time and the money with this man. We feel ripped off, and worse, stranded without a plan to solve the problem. read more

After being referred to him by my OBGYN, I have been seeing Dr. Isaac's for over 2 years now for Hypothyroidism and have had nothing but a wonderful experience. Dr. Isaacs listens to your concerns, spends as much time with you as needed and genuinely wants to get to the bottom of the problem. He is very prompt in getting lab results back to you and is always available by email or phone for any questions or concerns. When trying to figure out which medication was the best he tried a medication, ran labs, reevaluated until I was feeling good and my levels were normal. I can see that this doctor's arrogance has not diminished since 2008 when a reviewer made note of this. I couldn't agree more. His charges were astronomical, his arrogance was unbelievable, and I would never willingly choose to see him again. When going over the results of many tests which had been done with great difficulty and expense, I asked him a question. He never answered my question and said flatly, "I already told you that." He doesn't apparently believe that a patient is entitled to a question or opinion concerning their own body and life. Also, beware that his charges for obtaining your own file and test results are very high. When I asked for a copy of my medical file, the office staff could not have been less helpful. Then they charged me over $43.00 for furnishing me with 18 pages. I was also told that if I had the file sent to another doctor there would be not a charge. Why do they seem to be so reluctant to allow you to see your own medical test results and medical notes that you have paid dearly for? If there were a negative numbering system, I would use that and give his office a minus 100 or so. read more
