I came here to see Dr. Bryce Johnson for a second opinion since I was diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy. I mostly wanted to get a second opinion on what to do because my first neurosurgeon, whom I saw, just said to go to physical therapy for now, and that's it. Apparently other people have scheduling issues but at least for me, when I called the number on the website, I'm usually able to get someone to take my call for appointments only after a little bit and they're pretty responsive even through text messages. Before I saw Dr. Bryce Johnson, thankfully, at the office, I was able to get free X-rays done with my appointment, which helped since my insurance already covered my appointment with him. After seeing Dr. Bryce Johnson, I can definitely see why people say he is very no-nonsense and to the point. The first thing he asked was how he could help. I briefly described the pain I was feeling in my neck and the tingling I was experiencing, and I mentioned that my neurosurgeon just recommended physical therapy for now and that I wanted a second opinion, which he understood. He more or less agreed and just suggested I potentially see him again for a future appointment. While I am glad he did not rush me into surgery or anything, I'm kind of disappointed. He didn't give me a specific time frame to potentially see him again after doing physical therapy (though, to be fair, my original neurosurgeon didn't either) nor did he offer any potential alternatives or advice to deal with my symptoms, which included pretty bad neck pain, especially when falling asleep. That said, I can't give this place too low a rating because of the free X-rays. But I can't deny that I was kind of hoping for more, and it doesn't help that the typical wait times for doctor appointments are long, even when you come in early. read more

I haven't been to such a wonderful doctor in many years!? Dr AJay Gurbani foot and ankle surgery is the most caring and knowledgeable doctor. He truly made me believe I was just not a number he explained my x-rays show me the exercises I have to do, told me why he did not recommend surgery right away explained what causes the injury and the pain and went out of his way to make me believe there was a possibility of minimizing my pain . He even showed in the computer shoes I should get to have last pain.. in a world where doctors spend 2 minutes with you and don't care anymore this doctor really stood out. The whole practice and staff in Irvine is wonderful. I drove out of my way to be seen by this office and their doctors. Highly recommend. read more

My husband saw a doctorMalho in Irvine. They took x-rays explained everything that was going to happen. He ended up giving him injections into his knee and two weeks later went back for the other Knee. He's very happy with the results and very glad they didn't recommend surgery right off the bat without trying other ways less invasive highly recommend their office. read more

Office is nice in appearance, receptionist was average. Wait time is awful, its been over 40 minutes past appt time and still waiting... when I asked receptionist she stated there is still another patient waiting ahead of us and sometimes doctor is running behind. She did not give me a wait time of how much longer I need to wait. Another older patient has been waiting longer them me, he asked about wait couple times and still no service. It does not make sense to treat patients with such disrespect for their time. Not sure this wait is worth it.... You are better off going elsewhere. read more

My mom (91) had hip replacement surgery 2 yrs ago with Dr. Abraham Kim. Infection came in the same hip 6 weeks ago. Dr. Kim has seen us every single week & worked us into his schedule (even skipping lunch) to see her when things worsened. Dr. Kim went above and beyond to help heal my mom's wound. I went to the Irvine location. I wish I had seen their Yelp reviews prior to going there this morning. I have frozen shoulder and I saw one of their PTs. First of all, you can never get ahold of them. Their auto recording always says that currently there is high call volume and your wait time is 10 minutes; know that they never get back to you. And when you leave your number they won't call you back until at least the next day and after 5pm! Mind you, I was in complete pain, couldn't sleep last night, and I was crying this morning bc of the pain. A man (trying to get his name and title to no avail) took my x-rays. I asked him if I need to wear an apron bc of the X-ray machine and he told me that if I wore an apron then he wouldn't be able to get the picture, would he? (Rude) Told him I didn't know bc I'm not familiar with the machine. He told me that they don't do that anymore-wear the apron. Bs, I just had to wear one recently at another Dr appointment. Then he kept moving my arm around to position me and he was rough. My goodness, be thorough and read my chart as to why I'm there. I asked him if he could please not move my around so roughly. He grunted! bc of my request. I couldn't even lift my arm up due to the pain. This man was condescending, unapologetic, and without compassion. Why is he dealing with patients, especially with people who are in pain if he hasn't proper manners?! Also, he didn't apologize for running late. Read the one star Yelp reviews before going there, otherwise you will be utterly frustrated and undervalued. I'm sure there is a better orthopedic specialist group than this. Love the doctors but the office procedures are terrible. They won't answer the phone to make an appointment. You must agree to a call back, or a text or online form. If you wait on hold, they cut you off in 10 minutes. It often takes 2 calls to get a call back. After the initial doctor assignment you can't change your doctor without the new doctor's permission! It is my right to chose my own doctor depending on speciality and problem and personality. This is a pushy policy. The only thing keeping me at this practice is Dr. Wong- he is the best! I have no problems with any of their doctors, only their office policy. However you can't see the doctor without going through the office! My complaints have been ignored. I have gone to other orthopedic practices that were much better- office wise. read more

I could not get an appointment for a follow up for over a month. When asked if they received my lab report they had no idea where it was. This is one of the worst specialist offices I've ever been to in my life. I dislocated my shoulder on September 8 it's been over a month and I've called four times emailed more times and I can't reach anybody they've got this crazy third party answering service that doesn't communicate and are simply terrible at their job, so I fired both of them today. First doctors are good but this review is regarding their C/S. Absolutely the worse customer service trying to connect with their at least their Laguna office. everyone you call there are always 20 + calls ahead of them per the recording. I went to their office today and called the office while there and again there were 20+ called 13 minute wait but the 3 receptionists were just sitting around chatting with each other and none were on the office. I asked them and their response was, not my issue, it's the office answering system. Typical "Not my problem" and certainly not interested in fixing the issue. If I could give zero stars I would. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in a doctor's office in my entire life. My daughter and I walked into a madhouse waiting room without one open chair and at least 25 people waiting. Most people were in pain, in slings, in casts, etc and looked absolutely miserable. Terrible vibes for sure. Everyone had appointments, but people had been waiting at least 30 minutes just to check in, with the single receptionist working. An old man joked "they can't afford to hire another receptionist?" The office was running 1-1.5 hours behind scheduled appointment times, and from what people told me in the waiting room, this is a normal occurrence. They require you make your co-pay payment as you check in, so once you do, you're stuck waiting until you can be seen or you can leave with a credit you'll never get refunded. I have gotten better care at an urgent care clinic and in an emergency room. My advice: Don't spend your hard-earned dollars on doctors who don't know how to fulfill the basics in customer service, while making millions a year. Go somewhere where an appointment means something and you're treated with the courtesy you deserve. I cancelled our appointment and left. read more

Saw one doctor from this group for extreme knee pain. He told me it was not my knee, it was my hip, although I could not bend my knee or put weight on it. Sent me to another doctor to have a cortisone shot in my hip. Second doctor told me it was not my hip, it was my knee. Had me have xrays at their facility for both, and I never heard back from them. Asked for a copy of the xrays reports, so I can take them to another specialist, days of nobody answering the phone or returning calls, finally was told it would cost $25 per copy. Is this place for real? Is that even legal? Not to mention the front desk people whose job seems to be rolling their eyes and have an arrogant attitude. This can't be the medical care anybody deserves in a civilized country, when insurance costs so much money. Unacceptable. read more

Dr. Kim completed a total knee replacement on my right knee less than 2 weeks ago. I'm so thankful that I was able to connect with Dr. Kim, SCOS, and Hoag Hospital. Dr. Kim is an excellent communicator and an even better surgeon, and although at times it seems chaotic while tackling the administrative aspects, patience conquers all and he is definitely worth waiting for!! I can't thank him and his staff enough, and am counting the days until I am able to get my left knee replaced. read more

This one star is specifically due to the disorganization of this business in regards to receiving my MRI. I had a MRI almost 2 weeks ago and today they are telling me they don't have it. I called the MRI facility who told me that they just Re-faxed it and to call SCOS Irvine to make sure they received it. I called SCOS and was told that they have 100 fax numbers and there is no way to know if my MRI results have been received!? Seriously? THEN was told by a SCOS employee that I'm supposed to bring in my own MRI. She insisted that I was told this. I told her no, not once was I told by the doctor or staff to do that. In fact I was told they would contact me when they received the results. When I called last week an employee told me they haven't yet received it. So which is it? The employee I spoke to today apologized for the inconvenience this caused me. A lot of time has been wasted for me because of this disorganization and not being told that I would have to bring in my own MRI results. It would be helpful if they explained this to me almost 2 weeks ago. Update! now the MRI facility is telling me No they cannot give me a CD of my images. They don't do it like that. She said the DOCTORS office needs to get a login code from them to get them from them directly. This is not my job to be the middle man. I expect the doctors office to do this job in making sure they receive my MRI RESULTS AND IMAGES. This is absolutely unacceptable to have made me the middle man going back and forth over the last hour and a half to get my results to the doctors office. Not my job. I don't get paid for this. And now I need to call SCOS tomorrow to tell them they need to contact the MRI facility to get my results not me, except now they are closed. Unbelievable! All this stress and waste of my time could have been avoided if the staff at SCOS Irvine did THEIR job and called my MRI FACILITY instead of expecting me to call and go back and forth between them putting me in the middle. read more

Anyone who has trouble with this office should just report them to their insurance provider, as well as the Department of Managed Healthcare. The office is very poorly managed and incompetent at best. They make you wait on the line for a ridiculous amount of time (multiple calls have clocked 20 minutes), before anyone even answers. I have placed several phone calls to their office, requesting to speak with their Practice Manager, Dawn O'Conner. I have left voicemails on her private machine, and have sent several emails to the office, regarding a serious privacy matter, and attempting to request my own medical records. The office/Dawn is intentionally ignoring me, and will not provide me with the personal records I am requesting. As a result, the physicians who own the practice, i.e. Dawn's boss, will have to answer to the Department of Managed Healthcare and the Medical Board of California, because I have been put in the position to file complaints against them--- All because office management (i.e. Dawn O'Connor) decided she would rather not return a phone call, and ignore my request for my own medical records (which is against the law). read more

Ashley Lugo is the worst front desk employee/scheduler, who purposely goes out of her way to make things difficult for patients. I saw Dr. Johnson previously, and he referred me to another doctor in the office. She argued with me that they do not do appts from car accidents, or if I had a lawyer. I had a consultation (NOT retained one) and the idiot argued with me that was the same thing. No, stupid. It isn't. She then refused to make an appt for me, then she even called billing to get them to bill car insurance instead of health insurance (even though I told her to leave it as is!). Spoke to billing and cleared it up in two minutes. I requested a supervisor call me to talk more about this behavior from Ashley. She apparently likes to pick fights and argue with patients. She's an imbecile. When I asked for her name, she only reluctantly gave me her first name, then when I pressed, she gave me her last initial. Someone else in the office said she was supposed to tell me her whole name if I asked. She tried to make billing a nightmare for me for no reason. Fire this moron. She has no business dealing with/arguing with/making things difficult for patients. Because of her actions alone, I will not return nor recommend any SCOS locations. read more

I am a 63 year old retired airline pilot who needed a hip replacement. I did my procedure with Dr. Abraham Kim on Valentine's Day and my experience was was 100% satisfactory. I am a busy professional and it is a rare treat to go to a doctor's office where you are made to feel as though your time is just as valuable as theirs. I had a hip replacement in January 2020 with another ortho group. In the eighteen months since I've had issues with pain, that I was told could be remedied with additional surgery. I went to Dr. Abraham Kim for a second opinion. He believes the pain issue is unrelated to the original surgery and recommended a non-surgical course of treatment including a cortisone injection done that day, physical therapy, and an anti-inflammatory as needed (one I have never been prescribed previously). Even before starting the PT I have experienced a tremendous difference in mobility and noticeable pain relief. No longer a second-opinion reference, Dr. Kim will become my go-to provider for matters regarding my mobility (my knees are just about shot, too!). read more

I literally just sent my x-rays a week before my appointment, so when I get there, not only did they lose my x-rays, they insist that I must take them again, there... by them... before I could even proceed with my appointment. I have an online confirmation stating that they have accessed my x-rays but they magically don't have them. I had an injury at Disneyland where I sustained a large Hematoma on my right knee that was constantly hemorrhaging and the only course of treatment was surgery. Dr. Kadakia was the treating surgeon that not only removed this large blood clot but did a little more exploration of my knee to suture a tear that was causing the Hematoma to continue to grow and to drain into my knee. He did a great job, has a great bedside manner and explains in DETAIL exactly what he plans on doing in fixing your problem before you head off to surgery. I'm now going through physical therapy to regain the strength and mobility that I once had in my right knee. I do not doubt that everything will return back to normal once PT is done. I want to thank Dr. Kadakia for doing such an excellent job on repairing me. I'd recommend him in a "heartbeat" to ANYONE suffering from a knee injury!!! read more

Dr Abraham Kim made a MAJOR INCORRECT DIAGNOSIS WITH ZERO RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN... TOLD I HAD A HAMSTRING PULL, when in fact I had a meniscus tear and a meniscus root tear!! I saw Dr ABRAHAM KIM immediately after injuring my knee on the tennis court. I wanted to be extremely proactive so I saw him immediately, then right away got an MRI at his facility SCOS. I then a few days later saw Dr Kim for my MRI results. In this appointment, he told me my knee was FINE, that I just had a hamstring pull close the the back of my knee. When I told him my knee didn't feel well at all, he stated it was because the hamstring wrapped around the sides of the knee and attaches to the lower leg... but that my knee itself was fine. This of course was supposed to be based on my MRI and radiology report I thought! He recommended physical therapy. I went to PT 3x's a week for the next 3 weeks with zero results. My PT felt something was not right and asked that I get an X-ray. Went back to Dr Kim and got an X-ray. Again Dr Kim stated the knee was fine, even though I made it very clear that my knee didn't feel fine. He said he could give me a cortisone shot. Being desperate I said, "ok" even though I'm not really into cortisone, especially for just a hamstring pull. When I asked him to give me a second to take a breath before he jabbed me, as I'm afraid of shots, he looked up at me with disdain and said "get it together!!" Definitely not good bedside manners! I took the shot and got out of there. I decided then to go to a PT that specializes in muscles using ART that I'd known for years who always fixed me up when it was muscle related. I went 3 times a week for 5 weeks. Again no results with the therapist also telling me throughout these 5 weeks that something didn't seem right. But I trusted Dr Kim that is was "just a pulled hamstring ", so I kept going the entire 5 weeks, ignoring my PT's comments. After 5 weeks with this PT, I saw Dr Kim again, showing him no results. He was rude when I asked if he was sure my knee was ok. He said in a rude tone "Do you want me to print out your radiology report???". I said "sure". (BTW, I had initially after getting the MRI wanted to get my MRI and radiology report for my own records but SCOS now charges $25. I thought it was dumb to pay this for just a hamstring pull) Dr Kim started to read the report in words that I couldn't understand (he knew I wouldn't understand) so I asked him to please tell me in layman's terms. Again, he said a pulled muscle. Separately in this visit with him I asked about a new development of a bump on the back of my knee and wondered about what that was but he refused to touch it but said his colleague does ultrasounds and to see him. He then left and I noticed he left the radiology report from my MRI behind so I decided to look at it myself before leaving his office. Upon reading the report, it clearly stated I had a lateral Meniscus Tear and a Meniscus Root Tear which the later is one of the most devastating knee injuries there are!! It was now obvious I needed surgery and that the bump on the back of my knee was a Baker's cyst! Trust me this was SHOCKING NEWS!! To think I wasted 2.5 months of my time getting incorrect therapy! An unnecessary X-ray, an unnecessary cortisone shot, wasting 5k on unnecessary therapy, doing things with my knee that could be harmful as immediate surgery was needed for a MENISCUS ROOT TEAR. Imagine too that after 2.5 months of not getting the correct treatment I was now walking with a clear limp and it not only hurt my knee but also my hip. Which 2.5 months earlier I wasn't! I saw his colleague Dr Veneziano 3 days later. He confirmed that the diagnosis from Dr Kim was false. We both decided I didn't need an ultrasound as now knowing I had a tear, the bump was obviously a Baker's cyst. And I needed surgery. Dr Veneziano offered to give me a cortisone shot to relieve my pain in my knee. I told him, "no", since we both knew I needed surgery, and he agreed. And separately, I stated that I couldn't get a cortisone shot since Dr Kim had just given me one 5 weeks earlier. He said he could give me one since "Dr Kim injected it into the wrong joint", and that he would inject it directly into my knee. I thought it was very kind of Dr Veneziano to be so honest with me with everything. Dr Kim obviously thinks he can read an MRI when clearly that is the job of the radiologist! He should have read the radiology report in my visit to him following getting my MRI! That was the point of the visit. He was also extremely rude. When I explained the situation to Dawn their office manager, she stated they will take no responsibility as "that is what second opinions are for". Buyer beware with Dr Abraham Kim and Dawn the office manager. I've read where she's stated on Yelp here, she "cares" but she doesn't. It took her over 3 months to finally return my phone call even! read more

Saw Dr. Patel who urged me to have surgery for my wrist as soon as possible, (literally next day, which seemed weird) I let him know the soonest I could was the following Monday. The reason was weird as he showed me an x-ray of my wrist with little to no explanation of where the fracture was as if I had a clue as to what I was looking at. During the scheduling there was a lot of miscommunication with his team. First off I was told by his staff that it was okay to keep my hair extensions that had metal in them but as a precaution I ended up removing them regardless. Once I got checked in they then asked me if I had any metal on me as they most likely would cauterize the incision and that I should not have any metal on me. Before the surgery the anesthesiologist and Dr. Patel recommended a nerve block and let me know my arm would be asleep for 12-14 hours. The purpose was to not feel pain during and after the surgery. Which ended up NOT being the case. After being released within the hour I could move my arm, lift it and move my fingers, so I didn't need it. When asking Dr. Patel all he said was " well some people absorb anesthesia faster than others." Then after being wheeled out they let me know i had to pick up medication, so I went to CVS who then let me know that they never received anything. I then call SOCS and talk to someone named Dan who let me know i had to pick the medicine up at SOCS . So I drove back only to be handed A PRESCRIPTION SHEET and told to go to a CVS. At that point my arm was hurting and throbbing, I was in tears, then waited an hour for the medication at CVS. All of this showed how disorganized their office is and how little communication there is from person to person. I urge anyone that comes to this office to get a second opinion as I regret going through this surgery and working with them! It shows that they just want to put people through surgery rather than giving a thorough explanation and working with the patient. Dr. Scott Graham is outstanding! I'm a trail runner and recently injured my knee while out on a run. Dr. Graham got me back out running again, and now I'm without pain. The staff at SCOS were personable, efficient, and courteous. Dr. Graham really took time to discuss my injury and answer all my questions. He didn't seem rushed like some doctors can be. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I've since recommend Dr. Graham to friends and neighbors (a couple of young athletes too, from my teenage daughter's club soccer team) who've had nothing but great experiences at SCOS. PHENOMENAL SERVICE! Walked into the Laguna Hills office and it was a mob scene. Soooo many people I thought for sure it was a couple hour ordeal and it was not. I've been struggling with a knee issue for about 6 months and told I needed a whole knee replacement. I felt half my knee still was good and my gut instinct was right. He mentioned that hearing my complains he'd assume a surgery will resolve the problem. Really? Did I say I can't walks, suffering a level 10 pain? Did he try to examine my body? Ask me to band/ move? NO I've told him a surgery is an overall kill treatment for a problem that we still don't know what it is and I think he is jumping ahead of himself. So I've asked him can he offer any other treatments/ recommendations such as physical therapy, examinations or any other treatment before making a conclusion of me needing a surgery? I got an initial review, x-rays, consult with great doctor, and paid my bill, all in less than 40 minutes. I will keep this as short as possible. I am terrified of any medical procedure. I had a herniated disk and needed surgery. The team at SCOS went above and beyond to help me deal with my severe anxiety and made me feel comfortable. My surgeon, Dr. B. Johnson, not only looks like he should be in a day time soap, but he is amazingly talented. I am recovering very well and look forward to being 100%.
