As a medical professional of 28 years, I understand the difference in personality and opinions that doctors can have. Dr Eng was positively awful. He was cocky, arrogant and condescending. He made little eye contact, was defensive and his bedside manner was non existent. His unprofessionalism in critiquing his colleague was beyond off putting. He lacked compassion and the ability to listen and understand. I fully understand that doctors have different personalities, opinions and styles, but I am so unsettled by him. It was a waste of the copay. I am just shocked that Hoag would employ a person of this demeanor . This is a time where I wished AI would have scribed the visit. I would love for a colleague to review. He appears very inexperienced and green in medicine. It will take a lot to make him a successful physician. UPDATE( 2 weeks later)...no follow up from office manager when requested. I guess this is just standard practice there. My goal was to regain 100% range of motion so I could resume my normal activities including my exercise regimen comprising dumbbells and chinning bar. I had spoken to a neighbor older than me who had a torn rotator cuff repaired and could not reach up much above her shoulder. That was not for me. I knew that young people and sports people required 100% restoration while old people probably did not care as much. My research of Dr. Labovitch revealed that he was a sports medicine physician. Sports people with an injury don't want to have any limitations after treatment, so that was the best sign that Dr. Labovitch was the orthopedic surgeon for me. When I went to his office, I gained my ultimate confidence when his waiting room was filled mostly with young people. My surgery was successful, and although it took a bit (maybe 9 months) of expected rehab effort on my part, done partly at home, I regained 100% range of motion, and my arm and shoulder felt no different from the way it was before my accident. I had several subsequent visits to Dr. Labovitch for different issues, and each time his diagnosis was perfect and my recovery complete and uneventful. When requiring PT I always went to California Rehabilitation & Sports Therapy at 36 Mauchly in Irvine, run by Anthony Bisaccia, who is very competent, has a great team, and is wonderful to work with.

The technician that did the X Ray was a young woman who did not give me a lead protection cover for my body. I asked her if I needed one and she said "No, you used to need one, but these days the machines are more advanced". But I chose to ask for one anyway. I just wanted to post this review because I don't think what I was told was correct. So the office manager should make sure their staff is protecting their patients during every X Ray. This is why I gave only a 2 Star rating. But they are good and Dr Labovitch is knowledgeable and nice.

Dr. Trivellas confirmed I had strength but I couldn't lift my right arm, as the MRI showed I apparently I had a 90% tear. When I received the call a much sooner surgery day was available in a few days instead of a few weeks, I had to take it. The nursing staff made my 7:30am check-in a smooth one, with lots of information shared with me. The waiting moments leading to Dr. Trivellas visiting before wheeling into surgery was calming. I remember the moment my oxygen mask was put on my face, and the next time I saw a room again I was in recovery. The nerve block was still doing its magic over the next 12 hours, reminding me that my days of waking in the night and morning with pain would be behind me soon. I want to thank Dr. Trivellas of course, but also: her scheduler, Yvonne who got me into the earlier surgery date; Reyna at the front desk to make sure my paperwork was in order; Hanna & Kristi, my Pre-Op nurses who prepped me for my surgery; Dr. Prunean who safely sent me to lala land; Elaine & Rich who were my OR Team; Mikki, my RNFA who let me know she'd be assisting Dr. Trivellas; and my Post-Op nurse Kristi who welcomed me back to reality in the recovery area. Everyone did a phenomenal job explaining the procedure during pre-op, but what really stood out was how lighthearted and funny they were. They cracked jokes throughout the process, which helped calm our nerves, because let's be honest, most people are at least a little anxious before anesthesia. Dr. Chi was fantastic at explaining the surgery and making sure my husband felt informed. The anesthesiologist (Dr. Gananiyja? Sorry lol doctor's handwriting in the notes is real ) was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor that put us at ease. I had generally good experiences with doctors I had seen there in the past. He is more of a spine specialist, focusing on the neck and back. When I came in, I was having issues with both my neck and shoulders. After looking at my neck X-rays and MRIs, he noted that my shoulders were likely the bigger issue at the time. I could move my neck up and down without too much trouble, but my shoulders had difficulty rotating. Despite that, he was able to refer me to another DISC doctor, Dr. Shore. More importantly, I never felt like I was being rushed out the door, unlike many doctors who seem to just want to get patients in and out for a paycheck. In fact, toward the end of my appointment, he made sure I did not have any more questions before we parted. To me, that is a sign of a doctor who actually cares, which feels surprisingly rare given the number of doctors I have seen over the last several years. While he was great, I also have to give a special shoutout to his assistant, Joanna. She might be one of the best doctor's assistants I have seen. The assistants I have known generally get a good idea of what is going on and log your symptoms so the doctor can look at you more efficiently, but Joanna went above and beyond. She did more than a typical assistant would by checking the multiple issues I was having, including rotator tests, hand-grip strength, shoulder rotation, and various sensitive points. Similar to Dr. Melikian, I felt like she genuinely cared about what was going on and wanted to make sure I was receiving the right treatment. She was the first person to make me realize that I needed to focus more on my shoulder. Of course, she still told the doctor about everything just in case, but it says something when an assistant does more thorough checks than some actual MDs I have seen. It also says something that, even though I did not receive treatment from Dr. Melikian and he ultimately referred me elsewhere, he was one of the few doctors who was very assertive about making sure I scheduled a follow-up appointment. Even when I was in a rush to leave, his assistant reached out and emailed me to schedule an appointment, making sure I was okay with it. That is the sign of a doctor who really cares. Overall, in a weird way, I am kind of sad that my issues were not more related to my neck, since both Dr. Melikian and his assistant, Joanna, were great. Based on the reviews I have seen on Yelp and Google, many people seem to have had similarly positive experiences. If your issues are more related to your neck or back, I would consider getting an opinion from Dr. Melikian.

I do not lift very heavy but I can do everything that I want to. My back feels amazing and this doctor SAVED me with my pain at my collapsed L5. This was my second surgery after a microdisectomy had gone wrong with a different doctor 10 years ago. I highly recommend this surgeon. Not only is he caring but is a fantastic surgeon. The entire staff was wonderful and easy to get a hold of. My only regret is not to have found this wonderful human being earlier. Good job to this clean facility and all of the staff. And one more note to add, the X-ray facility across the street is also a 10 out of 10.

I mostly wanted to get a second opinion on what to do because my first neurosurgeon, whom I saw, just said to go to physical therapy for now, and that's it. Apparently other people have scheduling issues but at least for me, when I called the number on the website, I'm usually able to get someone to take my call for appointments only after a little bit and they're pretty responsive even through text messages. Before I saw Dr. Bryce Johnson, thankfully, at the office, I was able to get free X-rays done with my appointment, which helped since my insurance already covered my appointment with him. After seeing Dr. Bryce Johnson, I can definitely see why people say he is very no-nonsense and to the point. The first thing he asked was how he could help. I briefly described the pain I was feeling in my neck and the tingling I was experiencing, and I mentioned that my neurosurgeon just recommended physical therapy for now and that I wanted a second opinion, which he understood. He more or less agreed and just suggested I potentially see him again for a future appointment. While I am glad he did not rush me into surgery or anything, I'm kind of disappointed. He didn't give me a specific time frame to potentially see him again after doing physical therapy (though, to be fair, my original neurosurgeon didn't either) nor did he offer any potential alternatives or advice to deal with my symptoms, which included pretty bad neck pain, especially when falling asleep. That said, I can't give this place too low a rating because of the free X-rays. But I can't deny that I was kind of hoping for more, and it doesn't help that the typical wait times for doctor appointments are long, even when you come in early.

Among the injuries I sustained, the most significant were skull base fractures and fractures of my orbit, which led the emergency doctors to diagnose me with traumatic optic neuropathy. After consultations with maxillofacial specialists and ophthalmologists, I was told I was legally blind, 20/230, and that this was now my life. Devastated, I reached out to Dr. Lin who was highly referred by a longtime family friend. She felt he and his team should see me and offer other opinions. While Western medicine may refer to Dr. Lin as a "physical therapist," I don't think that language fully defines what he does. At our first meeting, he was gentle, attentive, and deeply aware of my condition. His method is difficult for me to fully articulate, but it was unlike anything the physicians I had seen before had provided. Dr. Lin created a treatment plan in collaboration with his in-house acupuncturist, Dr. Park, and the two of them treated me in concert. I visited them about once a month. Dr. Park performed acupuncture targeting specific hemispheres they agreed would be beneficial, while Dr. Lin used manual techniques, pressing, pulling, and adjusting different parts of my face and body. One moment stands out clearly in my memory. As Dr. Park had acupuncture needles placed in the points she selected, Dr. Lin pressed a section of my face under my eye with significant pressure. The instant he released, my nasal passage cleared dramatically. I had been so focused on my vision that I ignored other parts of my body that also needed attention. This is what impressed me most: their understanding of the interconnectedness of the human body, and the way each system affects the next. Even though I came in focused on a single issue, they recognized that other problems could be developing or stagnating and that treating one area would likely set off a domino effect. They addressed everything collectively rather than isolating one symptom. Dr. Park also gave me homework: changes to my diet, foods to avoid, preferred cooking methods, and even the temperature of liquids I should consume. Detailed instructions that had never been offered nor had I considered. Western medicine had only offered me chemical treatments or surgeries to remove or implant. Dr. Lin was one of the few who was relieved I had not had a surgery and was not taking medication. In my most desperate moment, when the reality of vision loss was fresh and overwhelming, they helped keep hope alive. I am happy to say that I have since improved to 20/40 vision. Slowly, every day I feel a little better. I am not claiming that Dr. Park and Dr. Lin performed miracles. What I do believe is that the treatment they provided stimulated something meaningful in my recovery. Maybe I would have healed to this extent without them, maybe not. But I wholeheartedly feel that their treatment encouraged my body to heal itself. I am four months removed from the incident, I have my vision back and I feel great. I finally get the hype! Dr. Erikson is SUPER knowledgeable and I literally felt and saw immediate results which was shocking. We all know shoulder injuries are complex because of all the muscles in the shoulders but he almost knew immediately what the issue was and made me laugh through the most painful parts (which was really minimal if I'm being honest). He also did an overall check and found that my back is also not in mint condition as I can see by one of my legs being shorter than the other. The way that he explained and showed what was going on and what he's trying to do made me feel so comfortable for my first adjustment. And about that massage... well the massage was DEEP - this is not your relaxing spa day but it is healing! Another thing I value about this office, aside from it being SUPER clean, is that they do not push you to spend your money. Yes, you have to pay for your treatment but there is no pressure to come more than you want to even if the Doctor recommends more. About a year ago she need to be seen for her knee and get an MRI and never got the call back from the assistant, she had to reach out to Dr Mora on social media to get him to help her get scheduled.
