Having had a laminectomy which initially seemed to help with my pain level, I found myself in pain once again and successfully found an outstanding pain management physician in Dr. Beshai. He and his office staff are thorough, kind and their level of follow-up and follow-through are superb. An arrogant doctor who appeared unwilling to deal with a 91-year-old patient in severe pain. My mom and I traveled to his office specifically to seek advice regarding pain medication, yet instead of listening to our concerns, he focused on a cement injection procedure that had already been discussed with her neurosurgeon and was not recommended. We didn't even mention it to him but was on her hospital paperwork and he must have picked it up from reviewing them! After spending more than 90 minutes in the office, we were simply told to return to the same pain management doctor she had previously seen and intentionally chose not to go back to. Rather than showing empathy trying to understand why we were seeking another opinion, he questioned our decision and offered little meaningful guidance. The entire experience left us feeling dismissed, frustrated, and unsupported at a time when compassionate care was most needed. read more

Problem I had is you get screened by a PA- Dr. Beshai is nice and came in for 5 minuted- Ordered an updated MRI- follow up visit I expected him for a consult but the follow up was with a 2nd PA who just read the medical report to me. I am a PT and know how to read a report just fine and did not need to drive 20 minutes and get charged a full session . I expected at least a zoom meeting with the MD to discuss the game plan - I do understand the anatomy concept well. Then you get scheduled 30 days out for a follow up. Due to illness and family emergencies I had to reschedule. The front office scheduler was not open and firm with appointments. You think with good people skills she would make an attempt to get an earlier appointment when there is a cancellation. A call back is not in her game plan. She was black and white. I then decided to request another referral. At this point in life I have 0 tolerance for lack of front office empathy. read more

Issue #1: I was billed for something 11 months after the procedure (neck epidural) for ~$1k. I have insurance and this doctor is in network and my deductible was met. Issue #2: I was told that I had prior authorization by his staff for the neck epidural, but when I saw the bill for the ~$1k today, I called my insurance and they never received the authorization request. Thankfully my insurance is willing to do the leg work of calling their billing department for further calls, because my attempts were futile. Issue #3: Their billing department doesn't answer calls apparently. Issue #4: Prior to receiving this $1k bill, I was scheduled for a second epidural and when I showed up for the appointment, they wanted $500 cash. I told them I didn't carry $500 cash and that this was the year 2023 and they said that I would need to pay something like $550 if it was on a card. I walked right out of there and kept my money. By the way, the doctor himself was polite to me, I had no issues with the way he spoke with me or provided the physical treatment, I just don't appreciate the way the billing experiences went. He may be completely unaware of his offices billing practices, which would be unfortunate. However, I've spend more time trying to sort out this billing issue than I have getting treatments and consults. read more

I would say dr. Beshai has the worst bedside manners I've ever seen. He most certainly just want to get you in and quickly get you out. I had a back issue and came to him to resolve the pain and he didn't even go over my mri and explain what was the issue with my back. Later in the follow up appointment I took the opportunity to have the pa explain to me what she sees in the mri and go over with me and instead he comes in and just gave me 3 options for treatment in point form and wanted me out. As a concerned patient I believe as a doctor you should at least walk through it and be empathetic as they are scared. Whoever practices under this doctor I feel for them as they are not learning how to be a great healthcare provider. Especially for that pa. I want to thank Dr. B and his staff at Mission Advanced Pain Management. A few months ago I, a 43 year old woman with arthritis in my lower back hobbled into my first appointment with Dr. B. I suffered with Debilitating pain that greatly effected my quality of life. There were days I couldn't move, every day tasks were crippling to preform and playing with my children wasn't possible. I also do not take prescription pills for pain so I mostly just suffered through it. After years of chiropractor treatments, acupuncture and wearing lumbar support belts I decided to try something new. I found Mission Advanced Pain Management and thank God I did. I have just completed my third round of injections. After the first injection I felt relief was well on its way. I was able to move more freely and preform normal daily duties with minimal discomfort. Upon my second shot the pain eased up further and my abilities increased and limping has subsided so that I could get up off the couch and I no longer hobble everywhere. I had my third treatment yesterday and already I'm moving freely, nearly pain free, I sleep better at night and I feel like I am actually my age and not a crippled 80 year old woman anymore. I can't begin to tell everyone to seek treatment for their pain. I am able to do more things than I ever thought possible and with out using prescription drugs daily. In October of 2020, shingles attacked a nerve in my lower spine and ran down my hip, thigh, turned down my calf. I tried every kind of pain prescription and over-the-counter medication with no success. The pain was horrible. My primary care doctor referred me to Dr Beshai. He gave me injections which relieved the pain at that time and occasional other back pain (including a fractured vertebra) over the last 3 1/2 years. Two months ago I fell backwards off a step stool, turned as I fell and fractured a rib on the top front area of my chest. Three weeks later as the rib pain was improving, I felt a sharp pain in the center of my lower back and felt bone rubbing against bone. I contacted Dr Beshai's PA, Stephanie, and she ordered two MRIs of my lower spine which showed a fracture of a vertebra in that area. Dr Beshai did a procedure in his office with needles to stabilize the vertebra. I developed another painful area on the other side of my back unrelated to the fracture which Dr Beshai relieved the pain with injections. I call Dr Beshai, "my hero." I don't know how I would have gotten by the last 3 1/2 years without his help. His entire staff is compassionate and efficient too. I highly recommend Dr Beshai. read more

I am so greatful for Dr. Beshai in helping me target and care for the stabbing pain i had experienced for over several months. I was referred to Dr. Beshai by my PCP. My MRIs showed issue was my hip but the Dr. Beshai says lumbar, which was confirmed. I am currently still under his care. Recently had an epidural injection and received a great amount of relief. I was referred here by my orthopedic doctor. Big mistake. I was told by my Dr that I needed a couple different kinds of epidural in my back and sent me here. The doctor saw me for 2 mins. The appointment started with him essentially grilling me like a junkie when I wasn't even there for narcotics and am not taking any narcotics and it went downhill from there. He Explained nothing. Told me I should go get a new MRI, but wouldn't order one for me - so essentially I was going to have to pay out of pocket or fight with my insurance company forever. That made absolutely no sense to me and he must not have had time to explain it. I told him I have a fear of needles and asked how he does the shots. Told me I should be ok and maybe I can have a pill or something but gave me no details on the process or what kind of injections I would be getting or anything. Just told me to schedule them with the girls on the way out and left. So I cancelled my appointment to get the shots and left a voicemail and email that I was concerned and not going to do it and that I didn't appreciate not even having the process explained to me so I didn't trust them and I wasn't going to come back. They are a mess because they called me a week later to confirm my appointment. When I explained that I left a message a week ago the girl was super rude to me which I guess I should have expected after the office visit. I emailed them that I wasn't paying this ridiculous bill for 2 mins of time where he did nothing for me. They didn't respond and keep sending me more bills so here I am. Hoping to keep others from making the mistake I did and getting stuck with a ridiculous bill for zero service. Imagine If this was a plumber or contractor who showed up to work on your home, and instead of working, immediately took a nap in the grass, then woke up long enough to show you a hammer, tell you it's a hammer, and then verbally berate you for the way you say the word hammer, and then leaves.... You wouldn't pay them! That's essentially my issue - 2 mins of doing nothing to help me means you shouldn't get paid - even as a doctor. Don't go here. read more

My experience was pretty rough. The doctor might not be bad but the lack of communication and customer service with him and the office staff, was relatively terrible. I didn't feel truly "heard" nor did I feel like anyone was sympathetic to the pain I expressed that I was in. I set up an appointment for neck pain, which took a few weeks (to be expected). Keep in mind, I've been in pretty severe pain for months at this point and made him very aware of that. Mind you; I've been doing PT, chiropractor, muscle relaxers, etc, for months and I'm still in pain and just trying to figure out how to get better. He looked at me and asked two questions, and diagnosed me with DDD, with confidence. He recommended I get an MRI to confirm this but also recommended a cortisone shot, in the mean time. So they booked me an appointment for the cortisone shot for 4.5 weeks later (knowing I'm in a lot of pain) and they'd put an order for an MRI with my insurance and keep me posted. I didn't hear anything for a week. Then I called twice a week to check up on it. I called for weeks. A lot of the time to a voicemail system so I'd leave voicemails and they NEVER called me back. I understand insurance can take a bit sometimes but the office wouldn't call me back and if I got on the line with them they just said "sorry we don't really know what or why the MRI isn't going through". Okay... so after several phone call attempts AND messages through their "online portal" to the doctor and staff (which no one ever replied to so that was a waste)... I just called my insurance company a month after the first appointment (waiting for my cortisone shot), a nice lady said "well the doctor's office just put the MRI order in yesterday, which can take 2-3 days to process on our end." You've got to be kidding me. So Beshai's office didn't even put that the order in for a month, knowing I was in pain. Knowing that I called twice a week the whole month. What a joke. Seems like a way to prolong the insurance money game, while I wait and wait, in pain and it's progressing. I was in pain still so I went through with the cortisone shot, hoping it would help. The doctor wasn't sure about where my pain was and I had to correct him. The procedure was fine but I became nervous that it wasn't discussed in more detail. I just felt a bit rushed in and out. Upon leaving the procedure, I became crazy nauseous and sat in the medical office bathroom, and threw up and sat there for 20 minutes to collect myself. Also, the cortisone shot never brought any relief. None. I feel like it's because he didn't really ask. There were no MRI results yet for him to base his decision to inject medicine in on. Okay called to book a follow up appointment and said the cortisone shot didn't help and I really wanted to figure out the MRI so I could move forward. "Your follow up appt is in 2 weeks so just tell the doctor then".... UGH. Waiting weeks and weeks, with poor communication, still NO CALL from the office regarding an MRI so I called ah imagine center myself, booked the MRI with no issue (they checked with my insurance). I went in that day, got the results the next day, and booked an appointment with another spine specialist at DISC, in Newport, who was much better and their office staff was fantastic. I won't be going back or recommending Beshai and his team. I hope they can grow to be better. read more

He is an incredible doctor who spent major league time with me and answered all my questions and reviewed my MRI's and related reports of previous treatment protocols - high level of intellect combined with significant communicative abilities along with vast knowledge and experience - also is a very nice guy who truly cares about his patients. I had the most horrible and unprofessional experience at the Irvine office. I was advised to report Dr. Beshal to the American Medical Association. He ordered an MRI on my back and never reviewed the results with me having asked him several times for an update. He brushed me off by saying, "!I will take care of it". Dismissive of any question I asked. The first set of shots went well but when I asked about what comprised the injections into my spinal/back area, he was again dismissive. When I consulted with my Neurosurgeon who treated my 10 yrs ago and suggested sacroiliac diagnosis and who also consulted Dr Beshal about his past treatment of my problem, the good doctor was again dismissive, arrogant, angry, and told me I was making things up in my head and circled around his head to imply I was crazy because I dared to suggest "We discuss" a move forward plan to address my severe back pain...Again, A so called pain specialist who prides himself on inflicting emotional pain upon his patients (in my opinion). I called him on his dismissive unprofessional behavior and walked out.... noting that another patient in the waiting room was in the thrust of an argument with the receptionist. My consulting doctor, physical therapist, and nursing associates suggest I report his behavior to the American Medical Association. I have also contacted my insurance company to ensure Dr Beshal's office did not bill them for this insulting unprofessional visit. There are too many other qualified professional pain specialists out there who guard against both physical and emotional pain. I would not send a dog to this office. Even a dog deserves better.
