Having read some reviews to pick this place, I just feel the need to issue my rebuttal. Firstly, don't go out for sea food in northern Maine. The restaurant smells like a reheated tuna melt. Our party of four chose to sit at a high top in the bar after waking slowly through the main "dining" area without being acknowledged. We were about to embark on our journey to Baxter state park, hoping the rain would let up so we could hike in to our first camp site. What better way to wait out the rain then pizza and beer right? Sadly, in the words of the infamous 45, WRONG. We ordered a pizza and a few beers, noting our neighbors fish sandwich covered in a barely melted square of yellow cheese. The pizza, scootic special, (Schoodic is the correct spelling for the geographical region of maine by the way,) was essentially an Italian sandwich spread over soggy dough with melted cheese in the middle. If you like your pizza undercooked, with wet ham and floppy pepperonis, this one's for you. The "Greek" salad we ordered, not unlike the pizza, was watery and certainly not worth the $14. The beer was cold, the free popcorn was free, so if all you're after is a drink and a salty snack you're probably in the right place. As long as you don't try to split the check!! Our waitress looked at us like we had seven heads when we put cash and two debit cards on the $60 check. After calling in some reinforcements she was able to work it out on the POS. On the bright side, the rain let up, and as I mentioned, the beer was cold, so our hike into Baxter wasn't half bad. If you're looking for food on your way through Millinocket, I'd try the AT cafe up the street. read more

Underwhelming. We had the Chicken Parm, portion was huge but pasta was bland, and the Chicken Alfredo Pizza which was topped incorrectly and had WAY TOO MUCH SPINACH. When I mentioned the pizza being topped incorrectly, the server's response was to give me the cold, raw, missing topping and tell me to "just sprinkle it on". We will not be back. read more

We just took our family there and it was delicious! We had onion rings, clam chowder, pizza and calzones ... Service and food top notch! Two days ago went to Pelletier's across the street ... Our top pick is definately Scootic Inn!! read more

The bad news is that they were out of steamers (which I got in one of the coastal restaurants). The good news is the meal I got was excellent. Ever since I saw their menu on-line months ago, I was curious about their "special" sauce on the bacon-wrapped scallops. It was unlike anything I'd ever had with seafood. The best I can do to describe it is to say it is a savory, slightly peppery brown sauce that went very well with the bacon and surprisingly well with the scallops. The potato skins were also very tasty. My server was friendly (we talked about the state of Washington, which is where she is from and where I am going in 2020) and spot-on. Went to Scootic on the day of the World Cup Final... the place was closed for another hour but the owner let us in anyway and even bought our first round. I would have been in real trouble had he not let us in, as I was desperate to watch the game, and it was super-nice of the owner to oblige us. They had a nice selection of brews on tap, the food was good, and the bacon-wrapped scallops-appetizer was darn tasty, would definitely get them again. In short, excellent, personable service, good drink selection, and tasty food. For Millinocket, it's as good as it gets! read more

I have been to the Scootic a few times, since it's only a couple of blocks from where I live, but I don't go often. The food was okay, but you can get better for less in Millinocket. The Scootic would be a good place to go if you were going to bring a lot of people because it is one of the larger restaurants in town but, for private dining, there are other places that I prefer. Depending on the circumstances, you might do very well with the Scootic Inn. read more

Overall very nice place. I ate here twice, so that says something. First night I had the blackened scallops over rice. Very yummy with some nice heat. The sauce really sold the dish as it married the scallops with the rice. The second night I had a sausage calzone. I gotta say I was thinking of that calzone all the way down from a very cold, windy, rain-drenched Mt. Katahdin, so it was a welcome sight when it finally arrived. It was good, not the best I've ever had but good. The bread was yummy, but I found the sauce more runny that I prefer. Still, I wasn't too picky at the time. Can't give it a full five stars as the service was kinda slow -- possibly just due to peak season. read more

We stopped in Millinocket to pick up a friend at the end of the Appalachian Trail, and had dinner here one night. We had the appetizer sampler - the fried mushrooms were absolutely delicious. For our meals, we ordered a lobster roll (which was amazing), a clam roll, and a pizza. All of us enjoyed our food, and we were able to watch the Olympics while we ate. The casual atmosphere was much appreciated, the service was friendly, and in a town where there isn't much to choose from (especially late at night), we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. read more

A dining experience starts with the service and I was greeted by a friendly waitress who was always there when I needed her but did not hover. She even stopped by to give me an update on the time when my lobster would emerge, something I don't recall at any restaurant. The food was great! We had the lobster rolls and they were satisfying. The waiter was awful!! Very unprofessional vibe in the whole restaurant. We first walked in and wasn't greeted or seated. Never got the Scootic fries we ordered and then still got charged for them, the two employees couldn't figure out how to refund/re-ring so we still paid for them. Was one of the few places open late in Millinocket the night we arrived (Tuesday). Atmosphere was casual. Service was attentive and food was good. Dinner averaged about $15 a person with drinks. We'd go back again. read more

This is the place people in town recommended to us. There were five of us and basically we would all say you got a big serving but it was just okay - nothing special. The waitress didn't help as she was a bit surly possibly because we got there later in the evening. If you are hungry you will be full but the food was pretty basic. None of us got the calzones which were highly recommended by other reviewers so that may have been our mistake. read more

I'm up here visiting my friend from East Millinocket and he highly recommended to eat here. We go in through the back door and the restaurant is empty. I didn't think anything of it because it's mid summer and the town is literally dead. However, I realized after that the restaurant across the way was not only packed but there was also a waiting list. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were clearly frozen and the cheese wasn't melted inside. For lunch, I ordered the chicken fillet sandwich and my friend ordered the chicken parm. His was okay, but mine was brought out the wrong way at first. Our server apologized and told us while the cook remakes it, she's going to go eat the mistake. The second time my meal was made the right way. However, our drinks were empty when we got the meal and she didn't bother offering to fill them up. We had to interrupt her while she was texting and eating to get refills. Not to mention the flies that kept landing on us while we were sitting there. So overall I give this place 2 stars. 1 for my sandwich (which was good the second time) and 1 for the fun we had trying to kill the flies. My advice: skip this place. read more

I gave four stars for the steamed clams, scallops and the wonderful server we had, she was so friendly but without being "too" friendly. Actually everything was quite good here except for one problem, they are advertising Fresh Maine Shrimp and it is NOT Maine Shrimp. I had a friend up from Florida who had never had Maine Shrimp. I had heard about Scootic's good seafood rating on here so we ventured over. We were greeted fast and friendly and the service was prompt and efficient-Excellent. The steamers were wonderful! Hot and fresh with creamy warm butter and lot's of broth for dipping the steamers to clean in. Excellent. Our salads were cold and crisp with excellent choices for dressings. On the bad side: The fries with fake gravy were not good. Please, don't used canned gravy, it's too salty and it tastes nasty. I would not suggest getting the Fries with beef gravy and "cheese"...this were a "miss". I was SO bummed when the shrimp dinner came. I LOVE fresh Maine shrimp and these were NOT Maine shrimp. I could tell from that first, nasty bite of these horrible pieces of shrimp. I asked the waitress to check and she promptly did, (she was great to put up with me). I have a huge problem with this because on the front cover of the menu, it says something like: "our owner/chef 'George' handpicks all of the seafood", well, if that's the case, George is blind when he orders the Maine shrimp for Taiwan! George! Order some Maine shrimp! Some REAL Maine shrimp for godsake! There's plenty of it in Maine! I love your restaurant and want to come back for my favorite seafood! Overall, I would say "yes" to eating here. Just dont order the shrimp from Taiwan. and get the steamers! A HUGE portion of steamers for 9.99(market in July/2011)! Spectacular food, impeccable waitstaff. I went in with a group of six and everything went perfectly. The chicken Parmesan was delicious. The waitstaff catered to every need our party had. Being from out of state, their local beers were spectacular.
