On a Friday night we took a chance and stopped in without a reservation. They graciously fit us in. I had chicken Marsala that was covered with mushrooms, risotto, and house salad. Soooooo good and I have plenty to take home. My companion had fettuccini with hot sausage and she has enough for 2 more days! Service was excellent without being pushy. Can't wait for a return trip. Incredible, authentic Italian restaurant! Extremely friendly staff and quick service! They do offer a happy hour and have outdoor seating, bar seating, dining room, seating, and a private dining space. Everything is so good. The fresh hot bread with oil is amazing, the zucchini is so crispy! Then the entrées are served with soup or salad and a side. The salad was very good. The chicken Parmesan with an added banana pepper is top-notch. The chicken Valdostana is a huge stand out. Crispy chicken topped with fontina cheese, fresh spinach, and a dreamy, lemon butter, cream sauce! And then for dessert, a charcuterie board featuring a lot of different dessert menu items. Prices are outrageous!!!! I ordered Broiled English Spots. That was $36. It did include a cup of soup, which was just warm and a SMALL cup of pasta with sauce. My partner ordered the same except he has a salad instead of soup. To add gorgonzola cheese sprinkled on top, it was an additional 3. The Spots were fishy tasting which tells me they were old. Scoglio moved from Greentree to this USC location in Pinebridge Commons a few years ago. Yelp has a few issues with this restaurant since the move. The website has also disappeared but you can Google and get info or Facebook Sogliousc. Anyway, nothing has really changed except the location. Nice and helpful staff. Start with some rolls, butter and dipping oil. There are usually some specials of the day. The Greek salad is very good and as the menu states, NO Lettuce, but tomato, cucumber red onion olives, red and yellow bell pepper and shrimp. The Chicken Pastina Soup was very good. The Crab cake is large and comes in a lemon and cream sauce on the plate. read more

We've ordered this meal many times in the past and have always been pleased. Today's serving had a total of 2 shrimp and 2 scallops. When we mentioned this, the waitress became rather defensive saying that's the way it comes. From that point on we could barely get her attention, waiting a long time to get our check, then another 10-12 minutes to have her take the credit card for processing. I might add that this occurred in a non peak time period so it wasn't that they were "in the weeds". The food wasn't good at all. I ordered the peppers and chicken. I have had this before so I know what it's supposed to look and taste like. Food came out, the sauce was dark overcooked oily and tasted burnt. The chicken pieces were small. The portion was about 1/2 of what was usual. It was almost of they took one order and divided it. Our waitress didn't deliver it but she did come over and ask. I told her it wasn't good, that it was small - she comments that she saw it when it came out and thought it looked small but offered a free desert (which I don't take) and said she wished she could do something but the manager wasn't there. Five of us had reservations and visited on a Wednesday night. We were seated right away upon arrival, and our drink order was taken. The restaurant is cozy with simple decor. The menu is a nice size with a lot of Italian favorites! I chose the Chicken Milanese and it was amazing! It was fried perfectly and the chicken was very tender. So I have to preface this by saying this was my second visit of the week. That reason being that we came back because the food was so good the first time. This was my sister and brother in law's favorite restaurant and when he passed away and we needed a place to go as a family after his funeral, we naturally came back here. There were 10 of us and everyone loved their food. And we had a super nice young waitress who put up with all our questions and eccentricities. We were there at 1 pm so it was the lunch service we were experiencing rather than the dinner we had earlier in the week. My husband ordered a crab cake which he eyed on the dinner menu. He said it was full of crab but a little too much sauce for him. It disguised the crab too much. I had the Mahi Mahi and Salmon special and so did my brother. We both thought it was delicious. My sister had the Linguine with clam sauce and there was enough in the lunch portion for her to take it home for another meal. My daughter had the Greek Salad and she loved it and also had some leftover to take home. The atmosphere is pleasant and the restrooms are always clean. If you want to eat at a good restaurant, this is the place. Scoglio, which used to be in Greentree has moved to Upper St Clair right across from the post office. Its decor has definitely been updated and the food which has always been good, is still really good. Service was great. Our waitress was spot on with her recommendations and very pleasant. Been to this establishment 2 times now and both were not appealing. The 1st visit the scallops dish came highly recommended by the waitress. Had to send it back twice due to the scallops being undercooked which is very hard to do. They were cold and raw in the middle. This last visit my wife ordered pasta with chicken. The chicken was chewy and tasted horrible. We told the waitress and when the bill came they didn't take it off. The waitress brought the manager over and she responded. " This isn't Red Lobster, what do you want me to do" she refused to take the meal off the bill which was over $200 for 5 of us. The manager was rude and disrespectful. A few of us came in for a business dinner on a weeknight... We were promptly greeted and seated, but we did have reservations (highly suggest making reservations!). Our server, a lovely blond lady, I think her name was Hunter greeted us soon after being seated. Throughout our stay, she was very helpful, friendly and kept a great rapport with us. She did a nice job explaining the menu, the various items and how they're made, etc. We started with their beans and greens and added sausage to them. The spicy sausage added a nice kick to the beans and greens and overall, the flavor of the entire appetizer was great! Their table bread was pretty nice and came as a nice assortment of different types, I just didn't like that they use little butter packs, nicer restaurants should use freshly made or freshly plated butter, never use pre-packages of anything. Next course was soup and salad... I opted for both. I tried their Scoglio's salad and it was amazing! Fresh greens and a very nicely flavored white balsamic vinaigrette on it. I opted for their stuffed pepper soup and the flavors were excellent! Unfortunately, they over-salted the soup. Next up were the main courses - I ordered their chicken scallopini with peppers and WOW, was it tasty! Nice flavors, sort of "marsala" style, with sweet peppers in it. I opted for no mushrooms out of preference. The sauce was so good, I had to sop it up afterwards with more of that table bread! A friend ordered chicken parm and it was a HUGE dish! Lots of chicken in the entrée! Lastly, another friend ordered their NY Strip and it looked amazing! Came out at the perfect temperature and in a nice amount of demiglace, which looked amazing! We were full, but the food was so good and our server did such a great job describing dessert, we stuck around for a final course... I ordered their pecan ball, which is a ball of vanilla ice cream rolled in pecans with chocolate drizzled on top and it was extremely tasty! When my husband was finishing his risotto there was a small piece of paper at the bottom of the bowl. At that point we just laughed and shook our heads. Oh Paul I also want to mention that your female bartender was cleaning the inside of the front door with a spray cleaner while we were enjoying our dinners. I heard about Scoglio's from my brother who lives in Carnegie and has heard great things! Once I read some of the recent positive Yelp reviews, I agreed that this would be a good place to take our dad for Father's Day. I made reservations for the 6 of us on their website. We weren't really sure what to expect. It is located in an office building in Green Tree. Upon walking in we noticed the dining room was to the left and the bar was to the right. Both sides and the whole parking lot were busy! The restaurant is very reminiscent of the 80's with the mauve tables and chairs, and old time chandelier. We also were the youngest people there. Not to mention the 50 year high school reunion happening in their party room! No shame - we came for the good Italian food! The menus were nice and heavy, and we started to browse the menu. The seats were like office chairs on wheels. It was weird, but they were comfortable. I ordered us a bottle of Chianti (so good, and only around $30!), and the fried zucchini app. It almost tasted like tempura fried. It was super light, and we all loved their marinara sauce to dip it in. The entrees were overpriced in my opinion, but they did come with a salad and pasta or risotto. I ordered the Spots English Style since I had seen great reviews for that on Yelp. The salad I started with was very basic. You could add cheese to it (gorgonzola or feta), but it just came with a small chunk off of a block of cheese in the middle. I thought it should have been crumbled over it. The salad had large chunks of cucumbers and tomatoes that needed to be cut up. It was very "meh". The bread basket was great and had a variety of rolls. My fish was cooked perfectly and the pasta in marinara was good too. I enjoyed this meal, but felt it should have been half the price. For dessert my mom and I shared the coconut cream pie and it was incredible! I loved how it was chewy like a coconut macaroon. We really enjoyed it. Other family members at the table enjoyed chicken marsala, scallops, chicken parm, and pasta dishes. I definitely would not order pasta as an entree here because the bowl was enough to feed a family of four. I thought the spaghetti was a little over cooked and not al dente like I prefer. There are often times I forget that some of the best places to eat are hidden from me even when they are in my own neighborhood. Scoglio's happened to be one of them. it's been years since I last dined here but this restaurant did not disappoint! My girlfriend and I stopped over here for lunch and we were seated comfortably in rolling chairs. We had a very friendly and helpful waitress who went over the lunch specials. We were served rolls and breadsticks at the start. We each decided to order the crab cake imperial. I went with the chicken pastina soup and a pasta side while she had a tossed salad and house vegetables. We got our food fairly quickly. The crab cake was delicious and full of crab meat! You can't go wrong with this selection. The soup was perfect for a damp rainy day and my girlfriend truly enjoyed her tossed salad. My pasta was beefaroni styled by tasted great with the marinara sauce. It was truly a delightful and delicious lunch! Scoglio's is located in Foster Plaza and there is parking on site. My father comes to this restaurant pretty often with his friends for dinner and drinks. Today, we came for my cousins birthday. There were 19 of us total, and they accommodated us perfectly. Our table was a large u-shape which was nice because we could all see and talk to each other. We walked in before our reservation time and stood at the bar to get a drink, which is located to the right when you walk into the entrance. The bartender, Chris, was very accommodating and super kind. My sister and I ordered a "Ranch Water." He did not know what it was, but he listened to us explain the ingredients, and he made it just right. A handful of people in our group ordered the "Lemon Drop Martini." Everyone seemed to absolutely love it!! Once we sat down, we were given bread soon after. There were many different types of rolls. There was room temperature butter as well as an oil already on the table. Our server, Mickey, was extremely kind. She read the specials and made sure we were accommodated as best as possible. She brought our appetizers out as soon as they were ready so they were very warm and fresh. Our salads and soups came out not to long after the appetizers. I ordered the Soup Du Jour which was a tomato bisque. It was creamy and flavorful. The soup comes with a small pack of oyster crackers as well. Nearly each person in our party ordered something different. I did not hear one bad thing about the food. Personally I think the food and appetizers are a little over salted, so be sure to drink plenty of water! We did not order dessert because we had cake for my cousin birthday. The coveted 5 stars. I truly try not to give 5 stars unless it's a special experience. This met that on a number of levels. One, people. Renee behind the bar was awesome. Before long she was treating me like a regular. Since it was a bit of a rough day, that really made a big difference in my mood. Two, the food was really good. Went simple with chicken parm with red pepper risotto. Found out later from a regular that I hit on a sweet spot. Chicken Parm there is legendary. The sauce, I could've eaten it as soup. Amazing. Three, did I mention the people. It was St Patty's Day so I stumbled in on the right night. It's usually packed I was told but the three guys around the bar that I talked with welcomed the southerner with the funny accent Ken, Dave & Ed were great to chat with. They also have their own Knob Creek Barrel Select that while it's a 120 proof, drinks so smooth. If you're in Green Tree give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. read more
