My children and I love Sophia's work! Her prices are great & I love her positive affirmations on the wall. Each one of my children wanted a certain hair style and she did what they asked. Both styles came out super cute and what they asked for. She listens to what you want and doesn't try to change your mind or give something else. Definitely recommend her. read more

I loved the family vibe at this shop. Sophea is literally the mama bear, and her son and daughter were both helping out on a Thursday afternoon. It was immediately obvious that Sophea is a very experienced barber. She was able to spot the tricky spot on my head before I even opened my mouth. Traditionally, virtually every barber trimmed my hair too short on the parietal aspect of my skull, but Sophea deftly maneuvered around it and the end result was a work of art. She listened carefully what I wanted, and quickly got to work. She understood my requests and skillfully executed her vision. I couldn't be more impressed. The price of the cut is also lower than the typical hipster barbershops that are popping up in all the neighborhoods. The parking situation was a little tricky. I accidentally parked in the adjacent shopping center with a separate parking lot, but no one found it to be a problem. Their parking lot is not directly accessible from Termino. read more

Scissor Hands - Perfect cut - Hair Salons Near Me - Long Beach, California

Every single month I come here for the most fairly priced men's haircut. Sophia is amazing, attentive, and takes good care of whoever comes in! I'm quite picky when it comes to haircuts and hold a high standard for a good haircut but I am never disappointed whenever I come in. This is a must if you ever are ever looking for a place to cut, style, or do whatever with your hair! Definitely worth every penny and you can always rely on having a nice and genuine conversation whenever you come in. Just be sure to call in to set up an appointment! No walk ins. read more

I came to Sophia for a color style that could incorporate my greys coming in and I felt my previous hair color was washing me out. She did a great job taking what I wanted and what my hair could handle and gave me the dark hair that I wanted with platinum gray streaks and I love it! Thank you girl.. You rock! read more

Sophia was amazing, booked me last minute and squeezed me in and made it happen. Used to come to her 5 years ago and moved, recently came back and service is great! read more

Scissorhands is an excellent place to get any haircut/styling needs! Sophea is very kind, professional, and social! The shop might be busy if you try to book the same day, but you are more likely to get a time the next day or the day after that as I have booked here a couple times. They preferable accept cash/zelle/ and venmo, so no credit cards. Sophea is a great, laid-back hairstylist. Simply just tell her what kind of cut/style you are looking for, and the workers will do their magic! Sophea is very talented and has an array of styles she's done with her clients. I told her exactly what I wanted(medium cut length with layers) without even showing a picture and she did a wonderful job!!!! I didn't get my hair washed but my hair feels amazing! Came in as a dry bed head hobo, but came out feeling fresh and new! I will miss living in Long Beach because of this cool, casual salon! But will definitely return in the future, hopefully to get it dyed this time! read more

I have been trying to both grow my length and embrace my natural wave/curl for a few years and have been to a couple different hair stylists for cuts. I didn't realize how important it was to go to someone who "knows" curls. As soon as I walked in and I saw the owner/stylists own beautiful curly hair, I felt confident I was in good hands. I casually mentioned that one section of my hair was always straight, even when I wear my natural wave, and because it was a bleached chunk she let me know it's likely because it was a processed section of hair (makes sense). WELL, let me tell you that whatever magic she did on that section and the rest of my hair, it has NEVER been so naturally curl defined, soft, light and comfortable as she's made it. Even that stubborn part started air drying curled!! My hair is now grown out to the point where normally the weight and texture would be driving me crazy, but now I've got the length I want and it doesn't feel like it's heavy or all over my face and shoulders. I normally would go in for a heavy cut at this point because it would usually be so uncomfortable, but this time I'll just be going for a light trim. Wild! I'm so happy I found her! read more

Vannie is the most dedicated sweetest hair stylist I've ever came across! Originally I wanted a purple balayage and we spent so many hours together and she was so determined to give me what I wanted however my hair just wouldn't take the purple dye unfortunately. She made it her mission to support me in making sure I left satisfied with my hair even when we decided to go another route of dying it more ash! She came in on her day off & even cancelled personal plans to make sure I was happy with my hair. I can't believe it. I would highly highly recommend booking an appointment with her because of her customer service, dedication and kind heart. Vannie, thank you so much for being one of the best hairstylists I've ever met! read more

I've always came here to get my hair dyed/touched up for my birthday. Each time, the results of my hair kept getting better and better! My little cousin wanted to get her first hair cut in a salon but was worried about not getting what she wanted. I obviously knew that Sophia would make sure my cousin got what she wanted & yes she did ! My cousin was very happy & smiled so much because she loved the haircut & style. 10/10 recommend coming here ! read more

Sophia has been cutting my son's hair since he was 10 months old. I wouldn't change a thing except for the fact that we can't go to a playground without being asked who cuts his hair . I usually don't Yelp unless it is something very good or very bad. Sophea was my stylist and she was great! I showed her a picture, and she delivered! She was able to explain and tell me what she sees and knows and how she will do it. There is no question in her process. She was also able to accommodate me with my busy schedule of having to pick up my kids in the middle of doing my hair. I love her work and her professional manner. I felt like a new person. She did not disappoint me at all. I will definitely come back! So does my twin girls! read more

Only a 1, because you can't leave a 0 stars, which we've all seen ppl say on Yelp! Be very, very careful when (and I would not by any means suggest) going to this "salon". The owner, aka, stylist BUTCHERED MY HAIR!!!! She cut off like 8 inches, I asked for 3-4. Aside from that life altering cut, the color was TOTALLY WRONG! I showed her a picture about 7 times, and the results were nothing like I asked for. Literally, nothing like I asked for! I was devastated and left crying .. and mind you, this took like 3 hours .. for her to totally destroy my hair! I could go into more detail, but no need; all I need to say is it was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - one thing I will say, is that I did go back the following week (which is the only time she could get me in, although the shop is always empty) so I had to be completely embarrassed for a week with this color "job", nothing I could do about the hack job she did on my hair and still charged me $150 for a complete disaster .. when I came back for her to hopefully fix the color, because wth .. what did I have to lose at this point, she had the nerve to talk smack about me to the one client that did come in to get her bangs cut! She was slamming me for being a pain in the ass!! Are you kidding me right now!!!! agonizing experience .. would never recommend .. I have since "box" dyed my hair a couple times, and will have to continue and gotten waaaay better results and actual compliments to cover her horrible job! read more

Sophia does a great job. I go in asking for highlights and she just knows exactly what color I'm looking for. Even I don't know exactly what I want. I just trust her that it will turn out nice and it always turn out even better than expected. I'm so glad I found Sophia a year ago. I'd spend double the amount at other hair salons and was extremely disappointed. One time I'd even waited for my hair to grow out and chop it off myself. #returningclient read more

Sophia has been cutting my hair for over 22 years now. Scissor Hands,is one of two locations that she has owned over the years. I go nowhere else. Honestly I'm not an expert at hair; I get my hair cut like less than once a year LOL. But despite my lack of experience, I thought my haircut turned out pretty well! After reading all the Yelp reviews, I wanted Sophea, but I didn't set an appointment so I didn't wanna wait till her other appointments were done. Perk though! They accept walk ins! A woman named Lettie?? cut my hair, and it took around 45ish minutes? I just asked to cut it shorter and get layers. She made me stand up while she cut my hair for like over half the time, maybe cause my hair was so long?!? Idk. But in the end the haircut turned out pretty nice! It looked a little choppy, but still good! They don't have prices anywhere, but she just told me it was $25. read more

First time coming here, came based on all the reviews, got in and asked for the price, super affordable. I didn't have an appointment and they took me in, already a plus. I showed a couple pictures to the girl who was going to cut my hair (Vannie) and she got the idea right away, I loved that she took her time to cut my hair. I am very picky with my hair! I always cut it myself and rarely go to get a haircut, but this time I wanted something different I got bangs and some layers in the front and I love the way my haircut came out. She even straightened for me, she was very sweet. Only thing to know is there is a $2 charge if you pay with card. I totally recommend this place read more

I've been coming here for the last 3 years. I live about 30+ minutes from Scissor Hands and I still refuse going anywhere else. The place is cute. I love how there's even a Edward Scissor Hands doll here! All of the people here are friendly. They make you feel really comfortable. Also, the prices are very reasonable. I always go to Reaksa. She does all my hair coloring, cutting, styling, and eye brows. She does wonders with color! Right now I have chunky highlights and I absolutely love it! I love my layers! The short layers she cuts in the back gives my hair so much more volume. I love it! Now for my eye brows, not many places give me the shape I want. They never dare to go as thin as I like them as well. Reaksa here waxes my eye brows just the way I like them! I love the shape and how she would wax them thin for me. I highly recommend Scissor Hands! Whether it's just for a cut or color. You should definitely check them out! read more

Before Sophia, I didn't trust anyone with my hair and didn't cut it for almost two and a half years. Now, I don't trust anyone else except her!! It usually takes about three hours for a color and cut. There's always something playing on the television to keep me entertained.
