Who doesn't like liquid nitrogen ice cream?! This place is a lot of fun, the science theme means you have pipes and beakers full of strange coloured liquids setting the scene that you are inside an episode of some kind of kid's science show on TV; but the real fun starts once you have picked your order! The menu seems to change fairly frequently (I have only been twice so can't confirm exactly how often), it includes a variety of fruit flavours, chocolate flavours and the occasional sorbet, I ordered a salted pretzel/caramel ice cream this time as I fancied something a little different. The toppings and sauces are also very exciting, I went for the brown butter sauce following a recommendation from the staff, my partner had praline with his strawberries and cream ice cream and it was all so delicious I tried to steal a second taste from him, another one of our party had a huge, fresh, toasted marshmallow with her cherry sorbet which looked incredible. Now the fun bit! Once your flavour has been chosen, the staff (in lab coats and goggles) start making your ice cream, the liquid nitrogen instantly freezes the churning mixtures, causing an exciting fog to roll around the blenders and table tops. The ice-cream itself has the smoothest consistency of any I have had and the instant process means the chunks (in my case pretzels) were still dry and crunchy having had no time to go soggy. Great flavours, fun process, helpful and friendly staff. Definitely a place to take kids (or just the young at heart)! read more
