I got my certificate from here; they were okay. I would do maneuverability, and most of the time, they would just sit on their phone and not actually help. Then there would be times when we stopped to get stuff rather than actually driving, which wasted a bunch of time driving. I was also told that it would take 2-3 weeks to print my certificate, but it actually took a whole month, and it wasn't even printed; it was sent to me through the website last minute. Scheduling was also hard, but I don't think that is their fault, as there are only 3 instructors there, but it's okay. Because of not knowing what to do with the paper, I mean I did not know who should sign the notary paper a woman who gets the test whispered that i am a cheater. So, as I heard that, I wanted to ignore but I could not. I told her it is my fault to not understand who should sign the paper. it is not good you say I am a cheater. About 2 weeks ago I paid for my daughter to partake in the 8 hour driving required sessions. When we go to schedule there was a message stating there are no available slots and that I need to check back daily to see if available slots were posted on the site. That was not going to work for me so I asked for a refund to which they told me "we don't do refunds" and I need to check back June 16 for the next available slots. The responses to my questions were very cold and not personable at all. I do not recommend this driving school. Definitely pick another school and make sure they have a refund policy! read more

We enrolled our son in Schwartz Driving School after shopping around for the best pricing, but didn't see these Yelp reviews until we'd made the purchase. Based on the reviews, we went into the experience with very low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised to find it to be good experience from start to finish. When I called to schedule my son's in-car lessons, I called on a Friday and had to leave a voicemail. Based on the other reviews, I anticipated it would be awhile before I heard back. Again, to my delight, my call was returned promptly. The office person was very friendly. She couldn't schedule my son because she was waiting on the instructor's schedule to post. She assured me she'd call me back on Monday, and she did. She scheduled my son for lessons a couple of weeks out - so not a very long wait to get those done. His instructor was Danielle. She was very competent and courteous. My son said good things about his experience with her. So all in all, our experience was nothing like those that posted poor reviews. Not recommended. They told me to call on the 3rd week of prior month to schedule class, then they said they don't have no more spot available when I called on the 3rd week. Ask Jessica to explain what she just said, she simply repeat to me exact same word she just said. I asked you to explain not to repeat. This happen Multiple times. If you want to waste money, time, and have an overall appalling experience, then use this driving school! I wish I would have read these reviews and the BBB site (they have a revoked status as of 2020) before signing on with Schwartz for my son's driver education. You would think the company would learn from the reviews already posted and change their practices. Nope! I can TOTALLY relate to the unfortunate experiences posted here by other parents. Here's a quick summary of my experience. When it was time to schedule in-cars, it was like my phone messages went into a dark hole. No one EVER called me back for weeks. I mean weeks. I called repeatedly and emailed with no reply back. I was working with the Pataskala location. When Donna Reyes from the Pataskala office did finally call back she was INCREDIBLY rude and defensive. She always had excuses about how busy they were. So, finally we got in-cars scheduled and I thought, okay, we can get through in-cars and be done with this shady outfit. Well, not so fast. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse with Schwartz, they did. The driver was a nice gal, but was unprofessional to say the least. She ate in the car, was on her phone all the time supposedly following a GPS, taking phone calls, telling my son personal stories about her life (like he cares -- he just wants to focus on the road) and always ending the sessions 20 minutes early. My son only practiced parallel parking once and that was at night. They only went on the freeway once and they barely practiced maneuverability. Basically, I paid for my son to drive on roads in town (Pataskala and Newark). So, I called to share my concern with Schwartz and guess who I get again...Donna Reyes. Another highly defensive, unprofessional phone call. Absolutely exhausting. I told her I would like to talk to the owner, Tom Deighan. She said she would pass the information along, but I never heard from him. I decided to call what appeared to be the main office in Akron. I talked to a lovely woman, Tara, who was so helpful and empathized with my situation. A far cry from Donna Reyes. She put me in touch with the Training Manager, Tom (same name as the owner), and he listened to my concerns and seemed surprised to hear that I never received any paperwork after my son's sessions. He said I would get that information, but I have yet to see it. He also offered to make up the 60 minutes of missed drive time from the instructor ending early, but I told him after this experience, I don't trust them to teach my son to drive. Hopefully this review will save someone from wasting their hard earned money and time with this place. That was my experience. read more

It was hard to award stars for this review. I need to do it in 2 parts. For the office staff (the folks I spoke with on the phone when I called), I would give 4 stars. The 2 young ladies I spoke with were always very kind and helpful. They worked around my daughters busy school and sports schedule to get the 4 "in car" lessons scheduled, which included Sunday sessions. The first 3 lessons with Mary, I would give ZERO stars if that was an option. She was very unprofessional. Her car was full of Tim Hortons trash and the windshields were so dirty my daughter said it was hard to see well. Mary was not a good teacher. She yelled at my daughter, was mean to the point of being a bully. She would constantly slam on the breaks or grab the wheel while my daughter was driving, which was dangerous and added more stress to an already very stressful session. All 3 sessions my daughter got out of the car crying and said she didn't want to drive ever again. Mary never provided instruction or positive guidance. Just mean and rude comments. My daughter arrived at the 4th session and didn't have her temps with her (long story). Mary refused to let a parent bring them to her even though we were only 10 minutes away. She just got in her car, yelled at my daughter that "you better get a ride home cuz we ain't goin today." So...I called back to reschedule and said we would take ANY slot during the day in the hopes of getting a different instructor for the last session. I pulled my daughter out of school to have her last lesson. She was blessed to get Robert. I give Robert 5 STARs. He instantly made my daughter comfortable with a joke. He provided her with instruction, positive reinforcement and a clean and comfortable environment. So....if you want to use this company, just make sure you DON'T have MARY as your instructor. This is the worst company I have ever encountered. They took my money for my daughter's in car lessons back in March. Asked us to be patient with them due to covid shutting them down. Was happy to do so. However, when it came time to reschedule, they were impossible to reach. I would call and not be able to get through...not even to voice mail. I emailed. No timely response. Finally someone got back to me many months later. She was very rude and unprofessional. Said they do not give refunds, but said she would pass my info along to the manager. Manager never called me back. Had to file a dispute through my credit card company and that's how I finally got my money back. They are THE WORST. We went through All Star in Upper Arlington. Awful customer service/ manager. I paid for the driving school and was told that they'd get back to me within a week. A month passed, and not a single call was returned. No show, no call. But most importantly, I tried to get a refund but they won't let me. Instead she accused me of lying and kept denying that I didn't call them and that they called me twice. CHECK THE BBB WEBSITE FOR SCHWARTZ. They have had their accreditation revoked. Do NOT waste your time with this company, they are absolutely unprofessional and unequipped to handle your precious children. Then when they completely mess up, they refuse to resolve the issue(s). The instructors are not mentally equipped to handle kids. They put their lives in danger by yelling at them while they're driving or simply ignoring them and sleeping or get on the phone to discuss their electric bill while they should be observing and instructing. The behavior of the instructors made my son more unsure of himself than when he began the lessons. He still doesn't have his license even though they "passed" him. I wish I would have read reviews first instead of assuming the business was still as professional as they were in the 90s when I used them as a teenager. They have went 100% DOWNhill! There is obviously very little, if any, screening process for their employees. They bring in the bottom of the barrell and then put our childrens lives in their hands. MOST HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. For months I encountered unanswered phone calls, no returned voicemails and no emails. When I finally reached someone I was told they were only able to take messages and I'd receive a call back. Which didn't come. Even after I had already paid $375 for the 8hr driving thinking that would help get a call back for scheduling, I was wrong. Eventually I got a answer from the most unprofessional woman I've ever spoken with. Straight away I was spoken to with annoyance and told I needed to submit everything before I could even schedule and even then they're would be a waiting list. I quickly just said ok and got off the phone. I decided the next day to just get a refund the same woman answered and attempted to shout over me and cut me off going on about covid and them being allowed to take up to months to schedule and there are no refunds. I wasn't having it I reminded the woman she is a buisness, I'm an unhappy customer and I'll get my refund she again denied this I then told her I'd dispute it to which she replied go ahead and do that and she hung up. I've since reported her to BBB which come to find out has revoked them. read more

My wife is learning to drive as an adult after growing up in Brooklyn, NY where not being able to drive was not a problem. After looking around for a couple different schools she chose Schwartz simply because she like the 1 1/2 hour sessions as opposed to the 2 hour sessions the competition offered. So she booked a five lesson plan. The instructor was nice as a person, but not a very good teacher. She also had a pretty lackadaisical attitude, which may be been attributed to the fact that, she said, she was quitting the driving school job in a few weeks. However, time driving behind the wheel was good experience in spite of the lack of quality teaching from the so-called professional instructor. The all important manueverability training, however, was absolutely rediculous. The instructor did not know how to teach manueverability, and when asked to demonstrate it, could not herself do the course. Knowing the answer because she looked it up on the Ohio BMV website earlier, my wife asked the instructor what the width of the manueverability course were, and the instructor confidently stated the course was 10 feet wide. However it is actually 9 feet wide as stated on the Ohio BMV website. My wife commented after every lesson that the Schwartz car was always dirty, and for the fifth and final lesson the car was actually suffering a series of problems, evidenced by the warning lights going off on the dashboard. The instructor did not seem to care, even though my wife complained that it took way too much strength than necessary to turn the wheel. I really wanted to call and complain, but my wife and I discussed it and we decided just to move on. Our concern was that Schwartz would simply offer additional lessons free of charge. That, however, was the last thing we wanted from them. We will never use Schwarts again, and will not recommend them to anyone we know. read more

I had my wife take driving classes here. She is new to the country and new to driving, and I went to this driving school when I was a teen, so I thought it would be a good choice. It was bad from the get go. The customer service was bad, the lady (who I don't have a name for) who set us up was rude. The driving instructor was late and did not make full use of all the time I paid for. He told my wife that he would not teach her how to parallel park because it was "not needed" and he never took her to the freeway to learn there. He canceled several times and we always had to reschedule. Overall, I would recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of better options in the Columbus area. read more

The office personnel is EXTREMELY difficult to deal with and rude. I tried to schedule my daughter's in car driving sessions while in the office one afternoon, and the front office lady told me I would have to call the next day to schedule these sessions because she didn't know who was working and when? (Uh okay?) - I started calling to schedule the next day at around 10:00 am-10:30 am, and ended up having to call multiple times to even get anyone any one to answer the phone. Then, this same front office lady got very upset with me when I asked for my daughter's driving certificate after her final class (assuming she passed the final test). She told me "the problem is - the class ends at 10pm and I go home at 6pm" - that sounds like YOUR problem, not ours. She tired to tell me it normally takes 7-10 business days to process/print a certificate of completion (whatever). Eventually she agreed to have my daughter's certificate ready at the final class, and assuming she passed the final test, she'd be given the certificate on site. WRONG! She did not follow through with this, and caused us to have to re-schedule our daughter's driving exam! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL - GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

My sister and I went here back in the 80's. No problems, but now.....My son had to cancel an in-car 15 minutes before the scheduled time. They said I had to pay a forty dollar fee before we rescheduled that session. No problem, I said, it was our fault. He had one already scheduled for today and they cancel an hour before because we didn't pay the forty dollars. I said that they told me I could pay when rescheduling, I haven't scelduled yet. When trying to explain this she flat out lied and said that's not what she told me. So now he's missed two days of school with nothing to show for it. Some of the instructors are pretty good when it comes to actually driving: they're patient, understanding, and give constructive feedback. However, 2 of my sessions were just completely awful: the instructor would yell at me, making me even more nervous to drive; she would text and listen to music while I was on the freeway, making the company look extremely unprofessional; she expects you to learn how to parallel park the very first time. Her tips concerning parallel parking were just terrible: she expetcs you to use only the mirrors and does not allow you to look over your shoulder. She was overall rude and obnoxious; I definitely do not recommend going to this Schwartz unless they got rid of her. She shouldn't have been hired in the first place. read more

Facility is poor; understaffed so we had to schedule driving sessions weeks in advance and then had to reschedule the morning of session 1; had 3 different instructors in 4 driving sessions so no consistency; hard to contact on phone; and after all that...surprise - charged for the course completion certificate required by the state after I had paid $300+ for training. I wouldn't give this place 1 star. I called this office and was set up with the sister location in Grove City. The first day that my son is taken out driving, he is involved in an accident and calls me within 10 minutes of the lesson. He has never driven before and I was wandering did the old lady use her controls. Did someone run into him? They come back, and my son said she was looking at her phone playing Candy Crush the whole time. When the lessons were finished, I had prepaid $75 extra to have him take the driving test. They never found time for it. Eventually, his temps expired. I just had him retake his lessons at another driving school that my daughter went to. She wouldn't even refund the $75 which is all I asked for. Also, my other review on Google mysteriously disappeared. They may have been in business longer, but very unprofessional.
