Black Pig was such a great find, and everything we tried was packed with flavor. We started with the White Truffle & Black Pepper Bacon Fries, because regular fries simply weren't invited. The truffle and black pepper added so much flavor, and these were the perfect way to kick things off. Next up was the Shellfish Rangoon, filled with crab, scallop, and shrimp and topped with tahini-cabbage slaw and pineapple sweet & sour. The combination of flavors was unexpected but worked so well. Then came the Black Pig Cheeseburger, an 8 oz Niman Ranch USDA All-Natural Prime Beef burger with Hooks 1-year aged cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a house-made brioche bun. The burger was flavorful, juicy, and satisfying. I finished with the Endless Rhubarb Summer mocktail, made with rhubarb shrub, lime, simple syrup, ginger ale, and dehydrated lime. It was refreshing and the perfect way to round out the meal. The service was amazing from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which made the entire experience even better. I also loved how spacious and clean the restaurant was. It has a comfortable atmosphere that makes you want to sit down, enjoy your meal, and stay awhile. Overall, Black Pig is absolutely worth the drive from Madison. For being a host, he went above and beyond explaining what is on the different menus he handed us. It is rare that nowadays you get more than a hello how are you- from hosts.
