I broke down on the side of the road, had my car towed to a nearby auto shop, they had my car all day and "fixed" the problem. I picked it up, for in the freeway and the exact problem happened again. Having to coast off the freeway and getting another tow. They told me it's the transmission and quoted me quite high. I called up a mechanic family member who usually takes care of all my repairs, he did some research and said he wouldn't be able to do it for me but knew a great person who could help me out! He referred me to Jeff at Schuck's. They gave me a lower quote and really helped me out. They ran into an issue with a recall leaving my car immobile they had to get it over to the ford dealership... they had it towed over (at no extra charge to me) and asked them if they could get it done ASAP as this has already been a long process. They kept me updated every step of the way and provided great customer service! They also have a great warranty! I highly recommend Schuck's!! read more

I want to do preventative maintenance on our 2008 MINI Cooper S by getting the transmission flushed and fluid replaced. It has 78K miles on it now. The dealer said that it wasn't needed because it's supposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle. Yea, right! That's a recipe for disaster. So I called around to various shops and Schuck's came in with the best price of $300 using MINI fluid (which I didn't think of requesting). A shop specializing in German cars wanted $650. All the quick fluid change places wouldn't touch the vehicle, which is just as well with such a specialized service. I'll update my post after the work is done. read more

Thought this was an honorable shop to take my car into with all its respective glorified reviews. My own subjective opinion about the shops diagnostic capabilities are well below sub-par. I don't know if they were trying to make a quick buck out of me or honestly had no idea whatsoever of what they were talking about. Took my 1981 bmw 528i on account of what i thought was a transmission problem, one of the guys there said it could be a fork lever, ball joint, etc, etc. and it would take $1,500 dollars at the minimum to fix. I opted for a quick second opinion on the matter and took my car to a local gas station shop called alcosta automotive repair and it literally took the tech there less then 2 minutes to find I had a problem with my fan clutch. I fixed the problem myself for $50 dollars. Not a trustworthy place at all and are very unfamiliar with foreign cars...maybe cars in general.. my advice to you before you get suckered in to something deep is to get a second opinion or diagnose the problem yourself. Hearing some feedback from my friends, they too agree that this place has operated subordinately before. read more

I am very disappointed in this shop. Expected good service based on reviews but we got the opposite. Called them to ask about a service for my SUV, told them it needed an oil change and that we needed the brakes looked at, the AC looked at, and there was a knocking sound when the car is turned on, they said no problem and set a day to look at it. We dropped it off at 9am and again reiterated the list of items to look at, heard back from them about 3pm that they are not licensed for AC repair and could not do any of the other services but could change the oil if we let them keep it overnight. Now today it has been in there two days and we call to inquire if they were done with the longest oil change known to man to which they reply yes. Husband goes down to pay for it and is shocked to see a bill for $122! We had asked if they rotate tires free of charge when we dropped off and were told yes but on the bill were charged $65 for tire rotation. Had we knew they charged, or had they called us with an estimate -as any reputable shop would have - and told us the cost we would've told them no and would've taken it back to where we purchased the tires from where we would get a free rotation. Summary of our visit: told they could look at everything and were told they could do nothing. Ended up with a 2 day long $122 oil change and tire rotation with very little communication from them including any type of estimate for the oil change and telling us it was ready to be picked up. read more

Thanks Jeff, You did a great job correcting Nissan's issue with my 04 Maxima. It works better than it did brand new! You saved me from having to buy a new transmission. Outstanding work for reasonable prices. Hard to come by nowadays. read more

Took our Honda 2000 Odyssey here to get a rebuilt transmission. No issues, and drove out with a 2-year warrantee. After 18 months, had an Engine light come on indicating issues with the torque convertor. It ended up being defective and it was the fault of the manufacturer of the part, not Schucks themselves. Even though it was 10 hours of labor to fix and replace, Jeff (the owner) never hesitated or attempted to beat around the bush. They saw the issue and took complete ownership. The entire experience was pleasant, professional, and he kept us informed at all times. I picked up the car - $0 charge - and was on my way. It was great to deal with an honest shop, with people who care. I definitely recommend Schucks for any transmission or clutch work. read more

LOOK NO FURTHER, YOU FOUND THE RIGHT SHOP!!! Had to leave a review for these guys as the Service, Price and Honesty was Incredible!!!. As soon as you meet Jeff or Ed you will feel at ease that your at the right place. Im a general contractor and had my truck towed into this shop ( lost the tranny) on a tuesday and they rebuilt it and had it back to me on friday. As a contractor I was lost without my truck and they understood that. Your wasting your time and money going anywhere else but this place. Thanks very much Jeff&Ed..If all businesses were run like this the world would be a better place. read more

Jeff and the staff were really nice! Although my car was falling apart and needs a new transmission they were really cool with not just charging me an arm and a leg for fixing minor problems. It is time to get rid of my car but it was nice working with some pleasant and honorable people :) read more

I had service done here years ago, and have referred everybody I know to the place. My son works for an air conditioning service and he's taken even his work trucks there! Fair, honest, reliable. Could you ask for more? GO CHUCK! read more

Last weekend my family and I drove up this way. After driving all night my transmission decided to crap out. Got towed to Schucks transmissions and they informed me that I need a new transmission. Like anyone, especially being from out of town, I made some calls to compare prices. Some places quoted me to rebuild the trans for about 500$ less and offered up to a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty through their shop and I also found some places offering a reman trans with 2 year 50,000 mile nationwide warranty for about $200 less. Schucks got me a reman trans with all updates and a 3 year 100,000 mile nationwide warranty and they were extremely pleasant to work with. I called many times (being in the motorcycle repair industry I know it can get annoying to have a customer call every day) since I went home and came back for the truck. They had it done before I got there and went over everything with me. They even went above and beyond to tell me I had rear end chatter (which I knew about but did not know what it was). And they changed out the fluid and put an additive in that resolved the issue. I also actually paid less when I got there than what they had originally told me it was going to be over the phone a couple days prior to it being finished. If trans work or any other work they can do is needed, call these guys and take your vehicle to them. They are offer high quality work and parts and very honest people. Thanks a lot to all the guys here for getting me taken care of! read more

I had a wonderful experience with everyone at Schuck's. The entire staff was kind, helpful, and welcoming. They all went above and beyond to show care for a total stranger. Here is a little more about my story: I had an accident nearby on the freeway and did not handle it well. I was very scared, in shock, and didn't know what to do. One of the owners, Ed, saw and helped me calm down. He helped make arrangements for my vehicle and found a more affordable towing option than the ones CHP offered. He invited me to his shop nearby while I figured things out. Everyone at the shop welcomed me and took great care of me! They let me borrow a charger so I could charge my phone, fed me :) and even helped me make further arrangements to clean up the mess my vehicle made on the freeway. The accident was super stressful along with losing my vehicle but I can't believe how nice everyone at Schuck's was to me. I have nothing but great things to say about them. They are honest and caring people. Thank you to everyone at Schuck's! read more

My 13 year Chrysler van's transmission was slipping a lot. Saw good reviews in Yelp about Schuck's so I took it for a free diagnosis. Ed and Jeff told me what could be the problem and they quoted me 2 prices depending on what they were to find once they open the transmission box. It was not possible to figure out what was going on without opening it. The transmission needed to be rebuilt, it was all worn out after 122,000 miles. They stood by their quote, told me when it would be ready (in 4 days...was ready in 3). After 200 miles I took it for a sanity check, they asked me if everything was OK...extremely professional, friendly service. They told me that if anything was not right to just call them ...I liked that :) I highly recommend them. read more

A group of awesome guys! Great customer service, honest, reliable. Will definitely be taking my car back to Shucks when it needs repairs!

We had our transmission replaced at Schucks. Shortly after receiving our car back the vehicle acted as if it had half the power as it had before. We took it back to Schucks and they tested it and said there was no issue with the transmission and that it seemed to be an engine problem. We then took it to our auto mechanic who we trust and have used for years. He couldn't determine what the problem was. We were then advised to take it to the Infiniti dealership. It took them a week to find the issue which turned out to be a software problem within the transmission. The rebuilders of the transmission had shipped the wrong transmission (for a year model one year off of our vehicle). It was something none of the folks who worked on the vehicle had ever seen before. Schucks expedited the replacement of the transmission and were apologetic for the problem even though it was not their fault. When we picked the car up it looked like it had been detailed. Good customer service happens when things go well. Excellent customer service is when things go awry due to no fault of the service provider yet they go out of their way to make things right. Schucks gave us excellent customer service. read more

This is the second time I have brought a vehicle here. They did as great work this time as they did last time (yes the last time it was a different truck). They got the job done in the time they quoted and in the price quoted. If you want the job done right, bring it here. read more

Spun the tranny in my '04 LeSabre on the freeway. Called Schuck's 1/2 hour after they were closed. Jeff answered and we made arrangements to have my car looked at. He called me back the next day with quote and time frame. SPOT ON with both. Very courteous and professional! Few years ago I had to have tranny replaced in another car. Went to a national chain. Same type of tranny,('04 GM in another car I had), BUT paid $1,200 more than Schuck's! Needless to say, I will only deal with Schuck's in the future! A+++ in my book! Thanks Jeff! read more

I was referred to Schuck's by a friend and don't regret taking my car to them. I commuted all the way from Sacramento to go here because of the fast service as well as the price. They're really honest people and bring satisfactory to their customers. I would recommend anyone to this shop. We need more shops like this one! read more

Recently had a trans problem with my 1965 Buick Riviera while attending the Pleasanton car show. I am from Sacramento so I used Yelp to find the closest shop. I called Ed the owner of Schucks and told him of my problem, Ed said get it here right away and he felt he had the parts to fix it. When I got there he had a lift and a mechanic ready for me. The car was diagnosed and fixed within an hour. Forgot to mention I called on Friday at 3pm. The charge was reasonable the service was excellent and Ed Schuck was a nice guy to boot. Highly recommend. Thanks Ed and crew. read more

I took my 2006 Avalon into Schuck's to have the transmission replaced last Oct/Nov 2014 and I am just getting around to writing this. Ed and all of the crew were excellent. They were all very helpful. I was very happy with the communication and service. I definitely recommend Schuck's. In addition to the transmission I had told him that there was still a loud reving sound in the front end. After months of this mysterious sound he was able to find that it was my right front bearing that is going out! Mystery solved! Thank you very much for everything Shucks! read more

Took my 2007 Pacifica in October 2014. Something was wrong with the transmission, and every place I contacted wanted not only a big diagnostic fee, but they would only replace the entire transmission, no matter what the problem was. Schuck's not only said they would diagnose it free, but they would actually repair the specific problem with the trans, which would be a lot cheaper. A few days later, we got the car back and it ran just fine, at about 1/4 the cost of a whole replacement. Definitely happy about that, and the guy (Jeff) was very nice and up-front about the whole process. read more

I took a car in for an estimate after another shop's recommendation of doing extensive repair work. Jeff the manager looked at the car and gave me a completly different analysis and recomendation. The work was completed by the techs and the price was 1/4 the cost of the original estimate. I took a second car in thinking it was a transmission issue however the techs determined it had nothing to do with the transmission and fixed the problem with the coils and ignition. Great honest auto repairs, priceless! read more

jeff & team did a great job on my 49' mercury trans, totally rebuilt, fixed other loose ends, the car runs, shifts and sound great. its hard to find guys who you can trust that really know transmissions, these guys are it. read more

Honest, reliable, and professional. We have used Schuck's for all service and repairs to our 2004 Cadillac SRX for the past 3 years. Estimates have always been accurate as to cost and delivery time. This business was recommended to me after I was told by another transmission shop that I would have to replace my entire transmission with a new one that was going to cost $4000 or more. Hoping to find a better deal or at least a transmission rebuild, I came to Schuck's and was immediately impressed by the friendliness of their entire staff and how quickly they got my car in to be looked at. Jeff was especially helpful in ensuring that he would do his best to repair my car for much less than I was quoted by the other shop. After only a day, he got back to me to inform me I didn't have a transmission problem at all, but rather just an engine misfire! Not only that, but he would be able to fix it in a matter of days for a portion of the cost. They could have simply gone in and replaced my transmission, costing me thousands of dollars, but instead they took the time to find the real problem, repair it quickly, and save me thousands of dollars. If you're looking for an honest and efficient shop to take your vehicle, this is the place to go. Thanks for all your hard work, you guys are awesome! I will be returning if I ever have any issues with my transmission in the future. read more

I enjoy doing my own work on my classic cars but sometimes run into situations where I need an expert's opinion and some help. Every time I have been to Shuck's, the owner has been very friendly and helpful, offering to give me a free estimate of work I needed to have done and taking the time to explain to me the right way things should be done. When my classic pickup's extension housing was cracked and leaking I decided to replace it myself, but Jeff invited me to come in so he could replace the internal bushing and seal because I didn't have the arbor press to do it and he was genuinely concerned that I might have trouble trying to do it myself which would give me more problems down the road. It took his guy a couple minutes to professionally install those items for me and then I was on my way. I was able to finish the repair and now have a leak-free truck, with the satisfaction of doing it myself. He understood my situation and was looking out for me given what I was trying to accomplish myself. I'll definitely call him first if I ever have transmission problems on any of my other cars. read more
