Best pancake I've had in a loooong while!
    Brenda G.

What's not to love?! Excellent service from a friendly, attentive server. We had a table up front where we could watch one woman making breakfast for every table in the place. At one point she had nine tickets (orders) up. I saw strips of bacon going onto the griddle (not precooked) and my scrambled eggs were obviously individual eggs that were scrambled (not premixed with filler, like restaurants often have). We consider ourselves pancake connoisseurs and these were perfection. They're served with a small cup of butter (vs many individually wrapped packers) and have a nice crisp to the edge. American fries were likely baked then diced and fried as they were firm but not undercooked. The sausage was juicy and flavorful. I ordered my English muffin toasted "dark" and it came that way. I'm not a coffee drinker, but the coffee drinkers at my table said the coffee was excellent. Everyone loved their food.

It's been awhile since I traveled the Eastern half of Wisconsin. There used to be a restaurant, 50 years ago, called Schreiners in Fond du lac that was a family dining restaurant with linens, china and silverware. Sadly, they closed due to Covid in 2020. When I found out this restaurant was in Appleton I wondered if they were related and decided to visit when I was on my way to a vacation. We stopped for a quick lunch, and ordered Reuben sandwich, Fried chicken sandwich and a Salad plate. The salad plate was very filling and had a delicious, bleu cheese dressing. The Reuben has good enough that when my son couldn't finish it all he took it in a carryout box and and enjoyed it a couple of days later. Mine was the Fried chicken sandwich, made with 2 large chicken strips and served on a homemade bun, cut in half. I never found out if the Diner was related to the traditional restaurant we loved, but the food was very good and definitely comfort food to get you down the road.

This place is not a "hole in the wall" at all, based on other reviews I've read. Everything's clean, waitresses are super friendly, and you can custom order tor breakfast np. I turned the Mexican omelette into a skillet on req, which is awesome, because i judge every restaurants meal on the Mexican skillet. The coffee isn't boiling, so i can actually drink it, and the food is great. Definitely visiting again.

This is an excellent family diner experience. I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try 2 of my favorites that I rate all breakfast restaurants by... biscuits and gravy and eggs Benedict. It was a definite touchdown here. Very flavorful sausage gravy and the hollandaise sauce had this evolving flavor as I savored every bite. Well worth the wait to finally try this gem of place on Oneida St. It is all about flavor and this place has got it.

    Ceiling. Gross.

The food here is good and cheap. The ceiling, however, is effing disgusting. As I sit here trying to eat my Ruben sandwich I'm doing my best to not vomit. Someone needs to bring the health department in here- a 4 foot circumference around the air vents is 1/4" thick with dust bunnies, dangling off the suspended ceiling. Gross. Ever check into using a vacuum?

    Great coffee, boasts Rick!

The staff was friendly and on top of things. It's a smaller spot, so plan to get there early, especially on busy mornings. A fantastic local diner experience.

First time here. We were on our way to the Dells and hungry for some breakfast. The place has a…read morenice retro feel to it. The stainless steel diner has been well cared for and updated enough to make it more comfortable for staff and customers. There are some tables out front and two different seating areas inside (it's bigger than it looks). All the cooking is done behind the counter, where you can see it all happening. It can be a bit noisy as the metal spatulas hit the grill, but you can still have a reasonable conversation. It's a busy place, and the servers are efficient, with a no nonsense approach to taking your orders. The menu is large, with lots of traditional favorites (no avocado toast here). There were two pages of breakfast items, and it was a tough decision. We ordered a number of different items: corned beef hash, pancakes, and potato pancakes with eggs and sausage. It did not take very long to get our food. Very good portions, everything was plenty hot, and all flavorful. Everyone was happy with their choices. The corned beef hash was not the kind you get from a can. It was large, fresh pieces. The pork sausages were plump and well seasoned. The poached eggs were perfect. My only complaint: I ordered my potato pancakes extra crispy, but they didn't seem "extra" to me (extra extra crispy next time). The regular pancakes were good, but not fluffy enough to be "excellent". A very nice place for breakfast, and somewhere we would return to.
