    My kinda jam

Crazy massive mix of three superstores combined for an inventory extravaganza to overwhelm! Hunting, clothing, indoor furnishings, toys, games, grilling, travel, hiking, and more all thrown together in a surprisingly well organized assemblage of popular brands, high end stuffs the usual sporting goods spot doesn't host, and eye candy all over - my first time to this Iowa palace didn't fail to wow and leave me entirely unable to pick up anything for myself. However my buddy bagged a decent deal of wood grill chips! Weird tho that the checkout had to scan the bar code which was hidden under tape, not a speedy route for running the Christmas crowd in and out. I can definitely see the appeal here and will make it back!

I do not have these where I am from, but every time I am in the area I am always sure to drop in here. It is literally my favorite sporting goods store. They have some amazing deals/sales on clothes every time I have been in and it is actually quality items. It seems like most stores put products on the sales rack that are either low quality, odd sizes, or odd colors/designs, but that is not the case here. Additionally, they have a large selection of quality firearms, which can be hard to find these days. They have both long guns and pistols. Plentiful amounts of ammunition for those in need as well. The customer service is beyond that of a normal business. They sincerely greet you when you walk in and actually say hello and ask if you need any assistance as you walk throughout the store. I highly recommend anyone to shop at this store for your sporting good needs.

Nothing but positive things to say about the store. Everything is phenomenal from their customer service to the products in the variety of products they have. Everything that we've always needed has been available. The location is perfect right outside of Jordan Creek Parkway. The staff is probably the best thing in the store.

Scheel's offers $649 as "match" to Amazon $499 price!

I'm very disappointed with the Scheel's execution of their own price match policy. I was in the Jordan Creek Mall store yesterday ready to buy a Schwinn IC4 exercise bike. Sheel's sales price $799, Amazon price $499. I confirmed with the Sales Associate that Scheel's will match Amazon. Upon showing him the Amazon website, he took it to his manager for approval. The Associate came back with an offer to sell for $649. I responded "no thanks". Then he said they would match $499 if I wanted them to, but they would be losing money on the sale. Huh? I should pay $150 more than the Amazon price so Scheel's doesn't take a loss? I left the store without making the purchase, as it seemed to be a great inconvenience for Scheel's to honor their own published policy. That's pretty short-term thinking on the manager's part. Scheel's may have avoided losing money on the sale, but the loss of a customer's good will is likely far more costly.

They also offered to have it mailed to their store in Des Moines to be picked up.

I'm in the process of cleaning out a storage locker because they keep raising my rent on it…read more.. A couple items I had in storage were sports related. A 10.5 ft Viper kayak (used a couple of times) and a kayak cart (still new in box). I decided to take both into Play It Again Sports. I didn't really want to deal with selling them privately on eBay (local pick up), Craigslist, or FB Marketplace. Play It Again Sports is the only place I know of to sell stuff like this other than a normal consignment shop (Stuff Etc. or a different place like that). If you are a seller they will give you cash or in store credit. The in store credit offer will be more than the cash offer. The kayak was purchased for $240ish new a few years ago. The gentlemen I was dealing with at Play It Again Sports said they'd sell it for around $100... Offered me $50 The kayak cart was purchased for $40. Was still new in box... They said they'd give me $7 If you don't mind the back and forth messages with possible buyers. People lowballing you. Having to arrange to meet someone...who may or may not show up, etc. Selling privately might be a better option for you... As far as putting the maximum amount of cash in your pocket...selling privately is definitely going to be the better way to go Like I said... I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling these privately so I took their offer. At least it paid for dinner that night for my son and I... So you know what to expect... As a buyer you can probably plan on getting a used item for half off new retail. Maybe less if the item has been sitting for a LONG time. As a seller Play It Again Sports is probably going to sell your used item for half of new retail, and offer you half of that in cash (25%ish of new retail). It's a great resource to have to get rid of unneeded sports items. You at least get a little money back v. donating the items to Goodwill, etc. To wrap things up... I found the staff here to be polite and great to work with. I dropped in with no call ahead and the process was simple and easy. If you have sports equipment to get rid of maybe slide in and check them out... Doesn't cost you anything but time. Don't like the offer you can always say no and choose to go in another direction. If you are a parent looking to save a buck... Definitely stop in!

Can't say how happy I am with the shop. It was definitely full, but clean with great friendly service. We had a great experience!

Of course we don't have the receipt anymore because she's worn them and intended to keep them. We tried to return them to Dick's. They won't take back worn shoes, that's their policy. I get that policy, but these are clearly damaged, we're not just trying to return them, we need defect free shoes. So we were told to call adida to have the warrant taken care of. I called Adidas and they need a receipt to return them. I had to communicate with her parents across the pond, to get a copy of the bank statement for date, time and dollar amount. All that is in Spanish format, so I had to calculate euros to dollars, and figure out the time difference. I called the store back to find out I had to call corporate. I finally got a copy of the receipt. Then have to call Adidas back to file a claim. What a cluster F***. Do better Dick's. I won't be shopping there again. Scheels it is.
