We have also found out their pricing is expensive. For one repair, they told us it generally takes 30-60 minutes; however, they charge everyone for 8 hours' worth of labor in case it takes that long as an OCCASIONAL job has taken that long. So, you pay for an 8-hour job, it takes them 1 hour and then they move to the next job and get paid again for their time that has already been paid by another customer. Our furnace is less then 10 years with a 10-year warranty. The control board failed and they will not cover the part under a warranty even though it is a known problem yet not defined as a recallable defect covered by the warranty. Trane has published a work around for the issue which Colony performed yet Colony & Trane point fingers at each other on whether the fix was installed correctly or not so neither will cover the part damage. They are charging 50% more for the part than a competitor and wouldn't even give a discount or offer to give us the part at cost even though we have a paid service contract with them which is also overpriced. Never buy a Trane furnace/air conditioner from them. They promised the service manager would call to see what could be done and we never received a phone call. They were unwilling to do anything to fight to get the part covered by the warranty even though it was clear that we could not have caused the damage. There are better options out on the marketplace.

Eric came and was very informative and knowledgeable about what the house size would need and did not try and up-sell any expensive thermostats or any one particular type of furnace or A/C, but instead took the time to fully explain modern operation and controls and which one would qualify for Alliant rebates. Of the 5 bids Eric's bid was very competitive on price and he was able to schedule me in right away. My first impression of Eric is of a very trustable, dependable person. The bid was to replace furnace, A/C and water heater (Power vented gas) and install gas lines to stove and dryer. Installation to start 11/12 August 2020. A large storm moved through Cedar Rapids and knocked out power to the town for 8 days. Rescheduled for 27 Aug. Eric showed up at 0730 Thursday and Friday and with a helper, did the install. Looks good and works great. He took away all the old stuff and left the place very clean. Eric and his assistant were very nice to work with and I would recommend them to anyone as a competitive, competent HVAC / water heater source. Melinda is the contact person for the office and she is very quick to respond to phone calls or emails. The quote she sent was very clear and understandable. Some of the other contractor quotes I received were very limited on information so it was hard to determine from them what the charges were for. With Furnace Pro, I knew what I was paying for and Melinda was very pleasant to talk to about scheduling installation and any rebate / bill questions.
