Atmosphere is excellent. A very relaxed and comfortable vibe out on the back deck. Food was very good and the bleu cheese, bacon wedge was one of the best I have experienced. I ordered the crab/scallop risotto and my wife ordered the steak, mashed potatoes and vegetables. Risotto was very flavorful and the steak was, too, but not cooked medium as was requested. The chef, needs to make sure they follow the request more closely. The price for the steak certainly mandates this requirement. We will most likely return as we had a great experience dining at the restaurant. read more

We were lucky enough to have friends that are members and we were in the area and had the privilege to play Schaffers Mill. Met in the parking lot by Jesse, he was friendly and made us feel at home and directed us on where to check in while he loaded our clubs. We were able to have a bite to eat before our round and it was very good. The course was in immaculate condition that was one of the most picturesque courses we have played. Immaculate and fair we had a great time on the course. When we finished we were met by Drew and he asked us how we like it. Of course we were pleased. Drew took us to the car and helped us load up. Overall a great experience and if you have the opportunity play this course. read more

Fantastic experience playing here. The practice area has everything you need including a large putting green, chipping area, and driving range with only grass. The front 9 starts off with 3 fairly easy holes then the course gets tougher. The back 9 is the true gem because it climbs up into the hils starting on 10 then comes comes tumbling back down to the clubhouse staring at 15. They saved us! The staff was absolutely the most gracious, understanding, and accommodating on December 22, 2019. We arrived on foot after crashing our car just a short distance from the restaurant/club. They took us in without a reservation on a sold out night and checked in on us regularly as we ate and tried to see our way through the unpleasant situation. We finally settled our bill just before 9:30 but I stayed behind to deal with the tow company and insurance. They allowed me to sit by their warm fire as I made numerous calls even as they cleaned up and everyone else was gone. The staff kept asking if I needed assistance, a ride, or anything else. I couldn't be more thankful for their kindness. read more

I don't even know where to begin, Schaffers Mill does it right... All of it. This place has come a long way since it's inception as Timlick. The original club house was a portable trailer, after the new ownership took over at Schaffers Mill they built a proper clubhouse with a pro shop, bar, locker rooms, workout facility and pool. The new clubhouse is great, the pool and workout facilities are perfect and the locker room is immaculate. The old club house has been turned into the welcome center for potential real estate buyers. The course itself is remarkable, perfectly manicured in all the right spots. It's a tough design with lots of bunkers and several concealed terrain traps, but it's not too tough. I usually play beach golf anyway. I love the views of Martis Valley from the back nine. I've par'd 17 twice and that's as good as it gets for me. I love playing Schaffers Mill and look forward to my next visit. read more

Maybe it was the beautiful day, maybe it was the great customer service, but for sure the golf course provided a memorable experience. This is a terrific golf course, with lots of construction activity. Makes you feel like it is the "new it" place for Californians to plop down their $$$ and build a home. The club facilities are still temporary but also permanent ones under construction. They offer a special rate beginning Oct for $80. If you are in the area, this is a must play course. read more

Wow. Schaffers Mill is a test of golf. Made the mistake of playing from the black tees at 7100 yards. My 8 handicap was useless against this beauty. Have played Greys, Coyote, Old Greenwood, and Incline Championship. Schaffers will remind you of Coyote and Incline but only more handsome, faster greens, and better service. I've played this course twice and loved both times. No groups in front or behind us until the 18th hole. Even then it was awesome because the group in front was taking pictures on the green of arguably the most gorgeous hole in mountain golfing. The staff at every point throughout Schaffer's Mill were sweet and accommodating. Very rare for a place that commands $2-3 million for single family homes. read more

Beautiful course. However, the fees have gone up considerably and the staff has lost their caring attitude. Very negative feelings about the pro shop and other staff on the course. Moreover, the current construction underway makes for a very noisy, dusty, unpleasant round. Needs work on attitude improvement in the pro shop and end to the construction disruption. read more

Course was nice - at least the holes i played since i skipped 7 of them. After 9 we were on pace for a 6++ hour round and never saw a single Marshall moving people along. Terrible management and for the price inexcusable. Likely would not return unless I had an early starting time and would not have to wait every single shot for 5 minutes. For golfers who like a challenge this is the course. I've played Old Greenwood, Grays Crossing, Coyote Moon, and Schaffers Mill, is like Coyote Moon. The only exception is the first seven holes are in a meadow and the remainder of the holes are in hilly areas exept for #18. The views on the back nine are amazing. I would suggest a golf cart because the distances between some of the holes is long. Right now they have portable outhouses (very clean) as they are building new bathrooms. The cart comes with a cooler and 2 bottles of water. At the front of the 1st tee, their is a large cooler with more water, apples, and oranges to snack on. The practice area is in top shape. The toughest hole is # 9 as after the tee shot it is downhill to the green with a large water hazard on the two sides. The tenth hole hits over a small revine and then you need to hit over a cascade. #11 is short and uphill, and the green is surrounded by trees. The 12th hole has an awesome view of Mt Rose. #15 is my favorite hole, it is a short par 4, that is an easy birdie. The 17th hole is downhill with a water hazard at the green; and the 18th hole has about four water hazards. And as a 27 handicapper, I played 36 holes one day and had one of the best golf experiences of all time. All of the staff member are very helpful, you are treated like a VIP as soon as you pull into the driveway. This course is in a resort area community and will probably go private someday, but right now, you can get NCGA discounts for about $140, but worth every penny!!! read more
