This is a great course. It is maintained well and has challenging layouts.i loved it! It's a bit spendy for local courses. And it doesn't usediscount tee time websites. Check this one out!

Another huge thank you to Silver Oaks. This golf course offers its club house to the Carson High Culinary department every spring. Each spring the students sell tickets, prepare and serve the food for their fund raiser. I'm so happy that I discovered this event years ago. Just $50 for a few hours of great dishes prepared by our future chefs. Several of these kids have already earned scholarships to Johnson and Wales back east. The dinner is served with what seems like unlimited wine. Tonight we enjoyed ratatouille, salad, scalloped potatoes, green beans, asparagus, lamb chops, chicken sausage and salmon. You'd be hard pressed to guess that several high schoolers fixed all these delicious morsels. And don't forget dessert- cheesecake with sugared berries. I AM STUFFED! Available were great raffle prizes and silent auction items too. Seems we always come home with something. Bitter sweet this year- the students' teacher, Penny R and fellow Yelper, will be retiring in June after 15 years. Penny is so loved by the students and I know they will miss her dearly. Also their Chef Mentor Clint Jolly has won a few awards this spring. What a great guy these kids have helping them in the kitchen. Keep your eyes out next year and support Chef Jolly, the new instructor and the returning students when they host this dinner next year. After all these are our future chefs.

I enjoy that the driving range can be on grass as well as artificial grass pad. I kind of miss the buried trucks.

The Golf is great and the people are better, at least 3 of these five stars can be accounted for by three words. Turkey and Swiss.

The fairways and greens are perfectly manicured and cut, however an extremely tough rough condition awaits you- Should you miss the fairway even a couple of inches. There is no buffer from the fairway to the Rough! it immediately transitions to 4 to 6 inch thick and healthy grass. The ball literally disappears. The group I played with must've lost a few balls each-even though we knew the location where our ball ended up. I am a 12 handicap and had a tough time here. My drive were not all perfect today and I paid the price, even when my drive was to slightly rolled off the fairway. I will definitely play here again, but with a completely different strategy . I will simply take my lumps and punch the ball back into the fairway. Attempt to reach the green from this rough will end up poorly, except for very low handicappers and only the best ball striking golfers . Eagle Valley ... please reduce the 1st cut so the mediocre golfers like me. Can survive a golf round there!

Beautiful, challenging course outside of Reno. The course was in excellent shape. I was lucky to…read moreplay with someone who had played the course before. There are many hazards your can't see from the tee box. If you're not careful, you may find a few during your round. Others have mentioned the pace of play here. We experienced this problem too, but we were part of a large group. The insanely slow group in front of us was our very own people. It would have been nice for someone to have been driving around, kicking them in the backside to urge them to speed up. It didn't help the beverage cart came by often enough to distract them during their round, LOL. The practice area was nice. The mats were a little worn, but there were tees and a bucket to clean your clubs. The chipping area was perfect. I come to the Reno area once a year to play a handful of courses. I would definitely want to play here again.

Tee time was at 3:36pm. Plenty of time to play. Got stuck behind a group of guys in a bachelor…read moreparty. Pace of play was extremely slow. Ended up waiting on every hole. Not anyone's fault, the three groups ahead of us were all waiting. Never saw a Marshall, staff didn't put any effort into speeding up the pace of play. The staff was more concerned with the wedding they were hosting and allowing the wedding party to take pictures. Absolutely not the wedding parties fault. Got to the 18th hole at ~8:06pm. Marshall came flying by as we were on the tee box. We were friendly and waved and said hi. He didn't even acknowledge us and came in extremely rude telling us "stop playing, go return your cart it's 8pm". And drove straight past. Now look, I get it there's a cutoff but the club sells tee times out till 6pm for 18 holes and nothing I saw said a hard cutoff at 8pm. If the club doesn't enforce any kind of pace of play then are rude telling us to essentially get out without letting us play the last hole due to us being unable to play the round in a reasonable time then idk what to do. If you're going to play here I wouldn't book anything past 2:30pm because pace has been slow every time I've played here. For me, I won't be coming back again which is a real shame because I think the course is great. This isn't the only issue I've had with the club/staff but this is a long enough post.

I thought the lady running the front desk and acting as starter was very informative but firm. We were busy visiting with the strangers we were paired with and she had to prod us to tee off on #1. The driving range is grass and had big targets. There is nothing resembling a flat putt anywhere on the course. The greens were in great shape and challenging. It was a good thing they were not too fast. The rough is very lush and penal. There are deceiving visuals when teeing off on many holes. Lots of water around but not necessarily in play. The setting was serene and beautiful. Lots of wildlife. Lots of geese, an eagle or three, and a coyote even loped past us through the tee box. The biggest issue is that there is very little grass in the fairways. Which might have contributed to deceiving visuals because the green stuff was the rough and the scrabble was the fairway. They wanted us to use the 90 degree cart rule but why when there are no fairways? Our overall experience was good because the setting and the company. We just had to find some grass if we hit it in the fairway. We weren't mad that we played here. I would really like the course if there were actual fairways. We would play it again but mostly as a last resort and with our eyes wide open. Forewarned is forearmed.

It's a private club. So I don't know how many people will care about reading a review for a place…read morethey will never go to. But here goes anyway. The building and grounds are amazingly well cared for. In all honesty, I can't believe we have something this nice in Reno. The money that is needed to keep this place up is probably astounding. We were here for a charity event. A nice lay out of cheese for the wines that were being tasted was gorgeous. The lemon bar dessert item was so good. We decided to get something from the bar menu because....when will we ever get back here? We ordered up the sliders, stuffed onion ring, nachos, and tacos and four of us shared it all. I'd never even heard of stuffed onion rings. How is this only available at a private club? Why aren't other places doing this? Good idea. Maybe a bit bland, but to be fair this is a country club. All the food was good. But the best was a "passed" plate for the charity event. The turkey sandwich was just so tasty I was a bit disappointed I hadn't ordered it or at least waited for the passed plates to come out. I probably will be sneaking in here at some point in time in the future for a round of golf with a friend who is a member...so I will have no problem getting some food here before hand or after the round. Heck, the food came out so quick I might even be able to get something to eat at the turn.
