Schaeper's is the best! Recently my cat was diagnosed with cardiac disease. I am still getting used to giving her the heart medicine every day. I woke up on Saturday morning and didn't realize til late that I had run out. I never wanna be the person that is calling a business right before they are about to close asking them to do something for me. But I know the heart medicine is serious business! Long story short, they were sweet and helpful and accommodating to my last minute request. Won't happen again on my end, but I really appreciated it. This pharmacy is a flashback to the days before I was born. When pharmacies weren't big chains and you didn't get treated like total crap every time you walked in. Before Cincinnati, I lived mainly in college towns, the most recent being, Bloomington IN. So I went to CVS. I may be fairly young but I am on quite a few medications. Which I would fill at appropriate times. A normal pharmacy works like this. You wait through a long automated message. You call in your prescription. You go to get your prescription 5 hours later. First, they can't find it. Second, there's a problem but we couldn't be bothered to call you. Third, oh we lost all the paperwork and just didn't fill it so wait another half an hour. Now we shall compare this to the absolute worst and busiest times in which I have tried to pick up a prescription at Schaeper's. 1. I was once put on hold for about 10 full seconds and they apologized. 2. I once showed up 15 minutes after calling in a prescription and had to wait 5 minutes for them to get it ready. 3. I had an insurance issue over a prescription (which, unfortunately, I half expected). They quietly pulled me aside and were about 10x more concerned about the issue than I was. I should also mention that it's a pharmacy that I can walk to. And that, much to my surprise, I don't pay a cent more than I did at big name pharmacies. I'm all for paying more to support the smaller guys but when it comes to medicine, it can be hard to find extra in your budget. Oh and every time there has been a minor issue, there's always someone who is immediately on it! Even if it's not their problem and it's the insurance company, they'll have that person on the phone while you wait! The only one real negative are the hours. Open until 7 with shorter hours on Saturday and closed on Sunday (they do offer delivery). Best to keep another 24 hour pharmacy around if you need something filled fast. So please, support this pharmacy!!! And don't be scared because it likely won't cost you extra! read more

This store is an important part of the community of Northside. It is conveniently located on the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Chase Avenue. Currently it is the only place in Northside where I know to buy postage stamps since we lost our beloved Post Office branch. After we lost our grocery store this was also the place to go for OTC medications. Another time I desperately needed an eyeglass repair kit. They had it. It is first & foremost a drug store & pharmacy so you can find what you need for your aches and pains and other OTC medications as well as getting your prescriptions filled & greeting cards. This family owned store has friendly and helpful associates. I recommend this store as a great place to shop at in Northside. read more

Schaeper's Pharmacy in Northside is a somewhat small pharmacy at the corner of Chase and Hamilton Avenue. In an area where you wouldn't find a CVS or Walgreens, it's definitely a nice little neighborhood pharmacy. It isn't that big, but they have plenty of people on staff and are there working to meet your needs six days a week. The pharmacy area, for filling prescriptions and all that jazz, takes up at least half of the store. The other half provides customers with a small selection of typical pharmacy items like foot care and first aid products, as well as 99 cent and $1.39 greeting cards. They also have a copy machine inside and the "cooler," is a big hit on these hot sunny days. Grab a can of a soft drink/pop/soda/cola/Coke (take your pick) for 60 cents, or a bottle for $1.25. They also have Gatorade among other cold drinks, and even 79-cent pickles in there. Even though Schaeper's Pharmacy isn't in the best part of town, it's a reliable pharmacy with a friendly and helpful staff. At least three signs on the exterior mention that it is a Good Neighbor Pharmacy, and indeed it is that if you live around or in Northside. Parking is a bit tough though as you either have to park at a meter on Hamilton Avenue or go to the available lot by the UDF. read more

I really want to thank the staff here for always being nice and accomodating, with special thanks to the pharmacist. He helped me out of a pickle, I was previously getting my prescriptions from Walgreens and they had charged me for a three-month supply of Zoloft when I only got one month. They had never given me three month supply and I had just changed health insurance policies so I didn't think twice about why it was slightly more expensive for the same amount. I then ran out obviously and was withdrawing from my SSRI for weeks which, spoiler alert, really really sucks. With the holidays, Walgreens and my doctor's office were not as accessible but this didn't stop Schaeper's from asking for my needs. I am proud to now be giving my business, locally, and to workers who care and treat me like a person. I was too teary-eyed and overwhelmed to ask for the pharmacist's name but he was such a kind man who deserves to work in healthcare. Overall, could not recommend this experience and place enough - all the stars! read more

This is THE best neighborhood pharmacy, the employees are nice and remember their regulars. The pharmacist/owner always explains your prescription details to you. You just don't find businesses like this these days. I love supporting them as often as possible. read more

This pharmacy provides the personal service and helpfulness I have never found at the big chains. For example, I had to pick up a prescription that was really life or death. They were closed, but the owner came in especially to dispense it. No chain would ever go to the trouble that these guys do. They are also friendly and quick. There is no condescension here. Many of the big chains always treat you as though they were doing you a big favor selling you the medication you require. I have never seen that here. read more

The Schaeper Family have been my Family Pharmacists for over 30 years. First known by Jerry Schaeper in Price Hill, and then in Northside, continued by his son, Rick Schaeper, their customer service is excellent! They continue to provide the personal care and concern that the old community pharmacy is known for. They are especially considerate of the local mental health community, Responsible care and respect for their customers is their trademark. Yesterday, Sunday, I realized that I didn't have a functioning albuterol (rescue) inhaler. Since I had also neglected to pick up my Advair (daily steroid) on Saturday, I was in a slight panic, as I have serious asthma, which is completely under control if I am responsible enough to take my medication. I called Schaeper's Pharmacy Sunday morning to leave the message that I needed a nebulizer and would pick up both the nebulizer and Advair on Monday. Midday on Sunday, I get a call from Rick, who says he could sense the "desperation" in my voice; he told me to come around to the store and he would have both medicines for me! (The store, of course, is closed on Sunday.) Rick Schaeper is a wonderful person, who is in business for all the right reasons. He is an immeasurable asset to the community.
