I stopped by Scentchips as part of a YSBSA event and was happily and pleasantly surprised. The recommendation on the nearby signs in La Villita to "follow your nose" worked. The wonderful fragrances wafting through the open door were a magnet. If you like the scented candles but want to change up the scents more frequently, or have a fragrance warmer but can't find the right aroma or are bored with what is available, then this might be the place to cure your discontent. Scentchips has an impressively big selection of fragrances, can make many of them at this location, and will allow you to mix and match to get the perfect combination. There are pre-mixed scents available as well; but getting those is not nearly as much fun. As you would expect for a place where your olfactory sense is getting overworked, Scentchips has the container of coffee beans available for inhaling that coffee aroma so as to help re-set your nose. There is something to the theory that your nose only can absorb about 3 different fragrances before it goes scent-numb. I can't say this is a place I would have thought to come by on my own, but I'm glad I did this time. In fact, i might even stop by again next time I'm in the area just to see if my scent-tastes have changed. The manager was as gracious as could be helping us find our way around, offering suggestions, and providing us with nicely wrapped packages to carry out our treasures. Randomly walked into this place. I ended up getting a box of rose, plumeria, and baby powder. You can wait her melt them together or separate them to melt. The shop attendant was pretty helpful and polite. She even made sure I filled up my box all the way. I can't wait to get home and melt them. read more

Scentchips USA is a home fragrance store located in La Villita, a historical place now composed of shops selling art, crafts, and souvenirs. Scentchips is a cross between Yankee Candle and Scentsy. Basically, scentchips are wax chips that come in an assortment of flavors that can be used together or separately. The store itself has all the chips laid out in flavors, and you can mix and match them to your heart's content. You can then use them as potpourri or you can place them on top of a warmer which utilizes a tea light candle on the bottom to warm the chips to diffuse the aroma. You can literally smell Scentchips a block away. Part of this is that they have a factory on site, and they welcome questions and viewings when they are working. That's pretty cool. Scentchips was created in San Antonio, so there is a lot of "claim to fame" here. I like how you can mix and match, which is something you cannot really do with Scentsy scents. I also like how you can choose whether or not you want to use them with a candle, which is also different than other companies. However, the downside of Scentchips is that it is a little bit on the pricier side ($10.50 for approximately 6 oz). read more

I used to love going to Scentchips was a good customer until Elaine started working there. she'll do anything for a sale. she said if i spent 100.00 she would insure i would get free samples every month. not true, plus i dont know if she has been fired or quit because i have not seen her in months, she is never there but the other lady is very business like and nice to talk with i dont think she likes Elaine either. she said Elaine never comes to work! so confusing, If she comes back to work i will shop somewhere else not worth the problem with rouge employee. love the chips but they need to straighten out this mess of giving free samples only when Elaine wants. if i walk in and see her will turn around and leave. read more

They were in the process of cleaning up to close for the day when we stopped in so we didn't get much time. It would be interesting to spend more time in the store if given the opportunity but I didn't really see anything that would cause me to return. I visited Scentchips at La Villita in San Antonio for the first time this past weekend with my daughter and granddaughters. I had planned to buy my oldest granddaughter some because she had been there and loved it. However, the lady working there was so rude to my granddaughters I was beyond shocked. The grands were well behaved and very polite saying 'yes ma'am, please and thank you' as well as carefully smelling the scents. The lady working at around 3:30-4:00 on Saturday January 16th lost this customer forever. She should not work in the public. I only have two stars because I really liked the product, the scents and the warmers. read more

Although I LOVE the chips and will continue to purchase the product...I WILL NOT purchase anything from Scentchips USA on Breesport St. San Antonio, TX again. First, I ordered online and paid 16.00 for 2 day shipping and received my order in 8 days. When I called to complain on the morning of day 8 I was basically told it was USPS issue and not theirs. The man I spoke with did offer to call USPS and call me back within a few minutes and here it is 24 hrs. later and I'm still waiting for that call back. To make matters worse, my order arrived and one of the 2 warmers ordered will not work. I called and left a message letting them know I received my order with one warmer broken and requested a call back on their return policy. To no surprise, I did not receive a call so I called them AGAIN!! A woman told me the person she needed to talk with concerning my order was on the phone and she would need to call me back. I told her my experience not receiving a call back and she promised. It's been 40 minutes and my guess is that I will need to call them back yet again if I want any service at all. If they treat all of their customers with this poor level of service, I will be surprised if they stay in business. read more

Ordered a friend a birthday gift and was really disspointed that it took eight days to deliver (Canadian shipping expectations when I live one state over!) When I called customer service they apologized and said that they were sorry but they just couldn't get to it sooner - they are really busy :(. Best wax chips. Smell better, last longer, nontoxic! The warmers are also very nice as they have multiple settings.
