My daughter recently signed up at Scega (been 4-5 weeks) and she loves it. Her coach is awesome and my daughter loves going to class. She's getting quality physical executive and having a blast! The office staff is friendly and helpful. The COVID restrictions ensure there's aren't too many spectators and everyone is masked up. They have sanitizer for the girls after class and they regularly clean the equipment/mats. Great job! read more

This gym can be great but greatly deeps on who the coach is. My daughter use to work with coach Isabel who was amazing. She is now on leave and the new coaches style isn't equivalent to the toddler class. No bar or beam workouts. We can stretch and just on a trampoline at home. Where here to learn and progress! I know it should be fun but come on. My daughter gains more from her garage workouts with the neighbors kids then coming here now. Strongly thinking about finding a new place! read more

Such a fun creative atmosphere for the kiddos! My daughter has been coming here a few months now and she is enjoying every second. She attends the Thursday evening class at 6:15. The instructors are very professional and come from a background of gymnastics themselves. The coaches are so engage with them as a group and individually. My daughter really loves going and I have her progress and open up more as time has passed. The office staff have also always been kind and professional. We have never had an issue with parking and class always start and end on time. Worth reading if you ever think of starting your kids here. This gym is run by heartless people who will not hesitate to hurt your kids for their bottom line. If I could give zero stars, I would. Blake started doing gymnastics at 5 years old at ScegaGymnastics with Adam Lomax as one of his coaches. Adam was immersed in coaching him and his teammates and giving them every opportunity available to them. Because of this, Blake just finished his freshman year competing for Stanford University who just won the NCAA Championships! His teammate Eric Nakamura just finished his freshman year at University of Minnesota competing for their gymnastics team who also competed at NCAA's! Adam had a huge impact on Eric being recruited after an injury that could have made that impossible. Last Tuesday, Adam was called in for a meeting and let go on the spot along with the 9 optional boys in SCEGA's program. These are the oldest boys who have spent the most time at SCEGA. Their practice that day was cancelled and they no longer had a gym to train at. Since then, the boys and parents have been treated in the most disgusting way as if they did something wrong. No apologies, no suggestions as to what they do now. Not even given a chance to say goodbye to each other. Their only explanation is that it was a financial decision. To Adam's credit, I have yet to hear him say a negative thing about anyone who has treated him, his sweet family and "his boys" this way. He refuses to bad mouth anyone, while his former employers are not giving him the same respect. Adam's actions speak for themselves and no amount of negativity anyone dishes out will change that. It will only increase the negativity now associated with our former gym. Having said all of this, the future is bright for all of these boys and their coach! They have everything they need to be successful! Blake, myself and our family plan to have a big part in the building of this new chapter for his coach who gave him everything and his fellow teammates and parents who we love with all of our hearts. read more

My 4 year old daughter has been a student of Coach Elaine for the past year and she's really gotten the hang of being a little gymnast- doing donkey kicks, cartwheels and somersaults all around the house. Coach Elaine is attentive, warm and so good with her students. She is so friendly and right from the beginning, I've felt satisfied with choosing her morning class for my daughter. The gymnastics couches are wonderful and my daughter really Loves going. I would say however that the office staff are not as helpful, they are all tucked away in an office and trying to talk to anyone for help or questions can be awkward and you feel like you are waiting in a principals office standing and waiting. read more

We have been coming to SCEGA for a couple of years now and Juan is by far the best teacher here. The communication between Juan and the kids and Parents are great. We have had several teachers and Juan has been the only one that talks to us after class and gives us updates etc. If you can request Juan, he is the BEST! read more

Scega by far is the best gymnastics facility So Cal area. I was a competitive gymnast for most of my younger years up until my teens. They run a very organized gym. Some gyms you go to have total chaos which results in unnecessary injuries and lack of learning. That is not the case with Scega. Their equipment is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and its a very family oriented atmosphere. They do not over crowd or stuff a ton of kids into one class which becomes un-manageable for coaches. My toddler has Mrs. Elaine. Shes so awesome. We also came for an "Olympic event" for the kids which Tina and all of the girls helping did such an amazing job getting my daughter to interact and learn new things. This really is a very caring gymnastics company. They have been around forever. The competitive teams are magnificent, most kids who are optionals by the time they are of age to go to college get partial or full scholarships, most gyms cannot say that. For little kids, they keep a very safe environment and structure. The coaches are top notch which is SO INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. If you are putting your child in gymnastics, this should be the first and last place you bring your child. read more

I'm giving 4 stars because this place is awesome! They have a super cool set up. I took one star away for the chaos coming in the door! I had no idea where to go or who to talk to or what to do! I wish there was better guidance for a newcomer or better direction given over the phone at the time of sign up. I did however figure it out. Second thing is the gym area smells bad, probably not their fault! Lots of smelly sweaty kids in there but it might need a good cleaning. Otherwise I think it's great! My son loved it! He calls it ninja school! He's wanted to do this for a long time so it's perfect! The office staff are SUPER NICE!!!!! I loved them!! Oh duh I almost forgot! I took a star away for parking!! Be advised that parking is VERY limited! I got there 15 minutes prior to class starting and had to drive up & down the street 3 times! I ended up Parallel parking down the road. The coach I had was awesome and very patient with kids. Idk how she did it cause I woulda went ape shit but she seemed totally relaxed!! The program is great and they give you a free week if there are 5 weeks in a month you still only pay for 4! Which again was great! The coaches are fantastic and they offer high level gymnastics (there's been many full college scholarship athletes come from SCEGA). SCEGA has many windows and chairs to sit and watch if you have older children, they are affordable compared to others around. The front office women are helpful and patient with me as I had to switch days and times a lot in the beginning. ** The reason I couldn't give five stars is because I don't understand why the main gym where all the children practice isn't air conditioned & at times very warm/sweaty to be in for coaches, parents & children alike. I must say I'm disappointed in this gym all together . My daughter went here and her teacher never once smiled she looked like she dreaded her job . My daughter loved gymnastics she had a passion for it . But the lack of inspiration from her teacher just made her not want to go . I mean I dreaded watching it . The teachers looked depressed and unhappy . I now put my daughter at murrieta dance project and the teachers have passion they are energetic and happy . And the kids feel it !!! We had a great experience here today! I emailed about a class for my 2 year old yesterday and got a response almost instantly to come try a free class today. So I went for it. This gym is super kid friendly and the class was 30 min which is perfect for toddlers. It moved quickly enough to hold my toddlers attention and she loved the treehouse at the end. Came here for a free trial and I'd be PISSED if I had to pay for it. Showed up and ended up being 5 minutes late because there is ZERO parking. Walk in, had to squeeze into the office and ask where my daughter is supposed to go. She gets my daughter's name, takes her back, then IGNORES ME. I had absolutely no idea where to sit, where to go to watch her, they were incredibly unwelcoming. No clue how my daughter did or felt, this was her first ever gymnastics lesson and we came here for the raving reviews, but honestly they can't all be true because this place doesn't deserve them. My daughter said she had so much fun and was so sad I didn't see her, but it is 100% the staff's fault I couldn't watch my own daughter!!!! They don't care about parents or cleanliness or anything but large numbers of kids going in and out their doors to keep their doors open. Absolutely appalled. read more

My son has been with SCEGA since he was five years old. He's now 11 and just finished off his Level 8 season at Nationals. He was one of 24 in the nation to qualify in his division. He also made the National Development Team and Select Team his first year as an optional, guided by his long/term coach Adam Lomax (who is also a national team coach and the Region 1 chairman). We have been completely involved with all related SCEGA events over the years and have volunteered our time on many occasions. Despite various concerns, we have supported SCEGA in every way we could. On Tuesday, May 7th, the day after Adam and several of boys returned home from Nationals, SCEGA terminated both Adam and the boys' optional program, effective immediately. Zero notice, zero opportunity to say goodbye, zero sendoff, zero attempt to help the boys find temporary training space (these boys train five to six days a week, at least four hours a day), zero empathy. My son was actually locked out by a recreational coach he's known for years when he attempted to enter the gym the following day. No one reached out to ANY of the boys to say goodbye or good luck, and the owners canceled the much-anticipated end of the year banquet. No one congratulated the boys who qualified to Nationals except Kathy Bader, who did leave a nice comment on my personal post, nor did they post one word about any of the boys' or Adam's recent successes on social media (they had plenty to say about the girls' meets and successes, as always). I'm still in shock over how Adam, the boys and the parents have been treated. There's a compassionate and ethical way to end a program that's literally these boys' life, these boys who have represented SCEGA proudly and professionally over the years. And then there's what SCEGA did. Adam has building the boys' program for 14 years, and our lone graduating senior last year is in his first year at Stanford on a full athletic scholarship. The entire reason the boys are succeeding is Adam. Now the compulsory program that remains has been handed over to one of the owner's sons. You can do the math on that one. If you're looking for a boys' program for your son, recreational or competitive, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Anywhere. read more

This review is for the new gym located in Winchester. My daughter is obsessed with her class and teacher. The instructor is always extremely patient and engaging during my daughters class. She has been attending for only a few weeks and I can already see her progressing and her confidence is building. These sessions always help with her listening and communication skills. When class is over all my daughter wants to do is practice the rest of the day which makes me smile because she is doing something she loves to do and is passionate about. The staff has always been pleasant; despite the parking lot always being busy I somehow always manage to find parking. The dues are competitive and reasonably priced. What I loved most was they offer a free session prior to signing up to ensure your little one will love it and if not there are no strings attached! I would recommend to give it a try you have nothing to lose! read more

My daughter attended the preschool class when she was 4 and is now in the 5 year old class in the afternoon on Thursdays. I'm disappointed in the instruction as my daughter keeps complaining that her teacher is unkind and speaks rudely to her and the other girls in her group. The next practice, I watched intently and unfortunately wasn't impressed. After practice, I approached my daughter's coach and asked how my daughter was doing in class? She replied in a rude tone and said, "she isn't moving up any time soon." And I was taken back at #1, how disrespectfully I was spoken to, and #2, I had no intentions or concerns on whether she's moving up or not. My specific question was "How is she doing in class?" Just could've gotten some feedback. There are staff members who only care about the competition aspect and being the best. We are in gymnastics to have FUN and to be a part of a group. We are joining Cartwheels. My daughter begged me to not go to SCEGA anymore. read more

She has made so much progress since she had been at SCEGA, the staff is helpful and the coaches are the perfect balance of firm and guiding. This review is for the office staff. Our kids coach is really great! However, I will never take our boys back there because of what I experienced today! My husband and I dropped our boys off at class. On our way back, we were running late and I called the office and left a voicemail at 10:25 (class ends at 10:30). I did not hear back so I started calling back at 10:30 to make sure my boys were not wandering (oldest son has autism). Usually the coach allows the kids to leave class but does not watch them to make sure all the kids are with their parents, as sometimes he gets busy talking with other parents. As I was calling (with the worst in mind imagining my son wandering outside in the street looking for us) I noticed I was being put directly to voicemail. I called for the next 10 mins, hoping someone would realize this was an urgent call so that I could make sure my boys did not leave the facility). No one called me back to let me know the boys were safe so obviously they were too busy to listen to their voicemail. The person that was in the office (don't know her name she has curly brown hair) knew I was trying to reach them (she immediately got mad at me about it the second I walked in the door). A ran up to the door, went inside and looked around, did not see my boys. She came up to me with her phone in hand and shook her phone in front of me and said, "you know you can't call me over and over, I was on the other line trying to help someone!" First if all, if a parent was calling "over and over" it is obvious that a parent is trying to reach you. Would it have hurt to put the person on hold for one moment to answer a call? I know I've been put in hold before when another call came in, it's not unheard of! So I walked over to the office and she could see I was relieved to see my boys safe and sound. However, there she was harassing me over how I was trying to reach them in front of other parents in the waiting area. I walked in the office and greeted my boys. She walked in after me and started giving me a hard time again about how I "kept calling" so I shut the office door hard (she made it apparent to everyone there she was angry with me and I was tired of her trying to embarrass me). She was shocked by that but continued again... I yelled at her to get out of my face and if she had answered her "f ing" phone I would not have had to worry about my boys wandering. She was shocked that I cussed at her. I tried leaving the office with my boys and she literally got I. Front of the door and shut it again telling me "you're not going anywhere, I'm calling the police to tell them you cussed at me!" I said yes and tel them you are forcefully keeping me and my kids in this office because I cussed at you for harassing me about calling to make sure my kids were okay!!!" I tried leaving again and she put her body against the door so I could leave. I finally got the door open and my boys and I left. This lady literally thought she could hold us hostage to tell the police I "cussed" at her. This lady needs to be fired for her behavior and the fact that she knew a parent was trying to call about her boys yet she did not have one minute to let me know they were safe and aggressively harassed me about it when I arrived. I could have called the police on her for forcefully keeping us from leaving but I did not have my phone. I'm just glad my boys are safe, that is what matters. read more

What an awful experience. We just left our first class and I was incredibly disappointed. After having some great initial interactions with Mary, the actual instruction was overwhelmingly awful. Summary: one of our daughters left in tears. The Details: We TOLD them at our initial assessment that our girls -- 5 and 6 -- are NOT competitive gymnasts and further, that they had only been doing this for a few months at our previous gym in Orange County. They went through the assessments and were each assigned a class to try today. Great. Our five-year-old had a decent class. The teacher was kind and attentive with a class size of about six or seven kids. Our six-year-old had a vastly different experience. Working in a class of only three girls, the instructor seemed at each step to be annoyed at how far behind she was compared to these other, more experienced girls. Admittedly, our daughter is prone to frustration but frustration gave way to embarrassment when the instructor began ignoring her entirely during the more complicated bar work. When my daughter finally suggested that maybe she shouldn't be in this class, the instructor simply agreed and sent her off -- no protest, no looping in another staff member to see if there was another group she could finish up with. There were only about 15 minutes left in class. So here comes my daughter, tears streaming down her face, distraught at her instructor's complete lack of compassion. Listen, I get it -- SCEGA is "the" place for gymnastics out here. But it would seem from our interaction with this instructor that if you're not club material, then you may as well go somewhere else. Fun is not the focus here, folks. I won't go so far as to issue a blanket statement on the conduct of all of their instructors. But when a kid under your supervision is struggling with something, how about a pat on the back or a reassuring word instead of blatant neglect and eye-rolling? Total fail. Business going elsewhere. Thanks for discouraging our child in what has, up to this point, been a really fun learning experience. read more

The only reason I give 2 stars is because of my daughter's old coach. She has been coming since she was 18 months old. Her last coach was Coach Mike and he was the greatest!!! She was recently moved up to the next level and her coach was horrible. I will not name her name because unlike her, I'm not in to shaming people. I could hear her through the glass complaining to her old coach that my daughter wasn't old enough to be in that class yet (2 months before her birthday...) and then she would make the other little girl in class stop what she was doing to show my little one how to do things. Last time I checked that was the COACH'S job. For the 3-4 lessons I had her in that class, my daughter left crying every time. The coach even once told her that she could either try it again or go sit in the waiting room with me. She was rude, and she should not be working with children. I'm not asking someone to treat her like a baby but at 3 years old, I'm not sure what was expected of her. I have recommended this gym to a lot of people before now and I never will again. Unless you have a little one getting in with Coach Mike. Waste of time and money. There are plenty of other gyms in the area that would be happy to have us there and I intend to take my child and my money elsewhere. read more

After my daughters decided that they wanted to switch from dance to gymnastics, we decided to give scega a try. We have been very pleased with this facility. My girls love the place and we even had their birthday party there. They did an amazing job. The only downside is that I wish we had more of a relationship with instructors. Called and spoke to Alice a nice am lady explained my daughter had never done gymnastics we would like to try she said the class is free I asked if we could try both tumbling and gymnastics since they're very different and have my daughter pick from there what she wanted to do. She said yes. We came for the gymnastics class daughter tried it didn't care to much for it so she was excited to try the tumbling class. Came the day for tumbling she was so excited when we were arrived they tried charging me for being enrolled in 2 classes a week I explained I spoke to Alice and she said we could try the classes and choose from there. The lady in the office wasn't budging on her decision and I don't argue. So I took my crying daughter and left. Literally a day later this comes in my mail box. Thanks office rep for horrible customer service and sending home a crying little girl. This place is over crowded my first initial thought with kids and parents. It seemed like an assembly line kids in kids out. How can kids get real attention? The parent waiting area smells so bad with no ventilation. read more

We've been coming to SCEGA for two years. My daughter requested to switch from soccer to gymnastics and since she was refusing to run on the field I decided it was probably a good idea. For me, these activities are about making exercise fun. What surprised me was when my son requested to do gymnastics too. I signed them both up. Initially we chose SCEGA because I wanted the kids to be in lessons at the same time and I wanted the most schedule flexibility to schedule around their swim lessons. SCEGA was the only gym in the area with enough classes that I could do that. My initial reaction to SCEGA was amazement. The gym is absolutely full of kids at all different levels and ages. But they do an amazing job of rotating from event to event so there is never a backup on the aparatus. The coaches are great and do a really good job teaching the skills and keeping the kids safe. My son has Apsergers and ADHD and I was concerned his coach would have a difficult time keeping him focused and convince him to try new skills that might be "scary". He burst out of his first lesson with a huge smile on his face and said he wanted to keep coming. Gymnastics has really increased his strength (he's very proud of his biceps - with good reason), has a lot of confidence on the bars at the playground now, is proud of what he accomplishes at his lessons and is about to move up a level. He's had 3 or 4 coaches now in those two years, and they've all been great. My daughter enjoys it too. She stays active for the entire hour, loves the trampolines especially, and has a great time - moving the whole time. She's not moving up a group and probably won't for a while. But that's a reflection of her, not her coaches. She's getting great exercise and learning new skills, that's what I care about for her. One of my favorite things to do while the kids are in their classes is watch the team gymnasts practicing and learning new skills. I especially enjoy seeing the various techniques and safety equipment they use to keep the kids safe while trying out new things. It puts my mind at ease about my kids eventually moving up and learning new tricks. I know they'll be safe while learning them. read more

My child has been at Scega for over four years and is on team. She loves her coaches and friends. They are like family for her. It feels like people float between gyms looking for the best experience or fit, but after researching gyms we feel that Scega is one of the best in our area. Every gym has their own style and way of training and moving the team forward. It's a very busy place, parking can be tight, the waiting area is swamped and team parents may not view most days in order to help with parking . I'm ok with that. This year they gave us report cards for our child so we have a better idea on progress after they tested for skills. I liked this but I some parents get bent out of shape if they or their child disagrees with the assessment. I wish there was better communication earlier on when my daughter first got on team as we felt lost. Now my daughter seems to understand better where she is at and how well she is doing and can tell me herself plus we understand how everything works now so it's easier. read more
