Rumor has it, they've actually had paranormal activity take place on the tour, and not just orbs and stuff; DC the demon cat has showed up a couple of times.

I have also been in D.C. for other government-related purposes and was able to take after-hours guided tours with a couple of different members of Congress (actual members and not a staffer). Any tour is a wonderful experience but most especially getting to take one in the hours after the hustle and bustle of The Hill comes to an end for the day. It's exciting to be on a tour when senators are holding hearings and you can actually sit in on them. The building is adorn with artwork, paintings, and sculptures that date back centuries. The architecture is awe-inspiring. So much to learn and see during the tours. There is a gift shop as well (but of course there is). A must for students (first time I took a tour) and adults alike. Anyone interested in the history of the United States should include this tour on a D.C. visit.

She was very knowledgeable. To get tickets you must visit your congress person there in Washington D.C. It is very easy! The tour was fantastic and we would do it again.

But if its a hot or muggy day, the photos of smiling passengers will not be indicative of your red/blue line experience. These buses have no A/C, and if you want to sit al-fresco and its a sunny day, you'll be just as sweaty. Think: "summertime Alabama prison bus experience" and this will meet that expectation.

The guy told us to get on the bus and stay on. It would do the red line, then the blue line. We could then do the evening tour. Okay then. Off we go. Finished the red line, and we're told to get off the bus. What? Last bus is at 4:30.. not what we were told. Not happy. We went on to the evening tour. I'd say it was pretty good. I did enjoy that parts of this tour. Didn't enjoy the "stories" so much. Would have liked more history. We got the bus the next morning and went to Arlington. When we finished we went to the stop, not such great bus timing. Their brochure said buses come every 15 minutes. After an hour of waiting we tried to contact BB to see what was going on? They do not have a phone number that works. There is an email address that stars it will get back to you in 24 hours.., what? We waiting over an hour and gave up for an uber. We did get another email telling us there are delays due to events. This is not okay we when have paid for a 24 hour pass that is not usable. All in all, our 24 hour pass was good for 3 hours. Reason for this? Maybe because only two buses run on Sunday. So unless you have the time to wait two hours for your next bus, it's not worth it! Do not use this service!

I have issues with walking distances and the stops were not very convenient to the monuments. It was 90 degrees in Washington and we waited over 40 minutes for a bus at one stop and finally gave up. Saw several buses go a different way, one didn't stop because it was full, another let some people waiting on but then was full and no further bus came. I would never recommend this. If you're judging me right now, fear not, I'm also judging me. Yet, I'm still surprised because I clearly kind of liked everything I did. As someone who frequently ignores the tourist buses in NYC, I found it rather ironic that I'd be doing the same thing in DC. I have numerous family and friends throughout the area, yet none have ever bothered to take me on the kind of joyride that Doubledecker Tours has. After multiple trips to the DMV (#1) I've only had a chance to see the touristy sites with other out of towners. The ride was always relatively comfortable and it totally beats having to drive myself to any / all of these places. Hopping and off is the real sell in my opinion. It's one thing to listen to the spiel of the driver / host, but it's another to actually get off and explore the actual site. Just remember that taking pictures from the bus vs the actual location. Taking pictures from the bus is nothing close to doing it in person (#2) But of course, there are some things that aren't so great. Seats aren't exactly comfortable and taking pics is a real pain when the car is in motion. During peak months / travel times, the buses can get crazy crowded. It's also not exactly cheap, I think I paid $70 in my last day pass. I am sure the price is different for seniors and children. One last tip: Always check the weather the day of -- there's a chance it could rain and no one likes being subjected to a shower while on a bus. They may provide rain ponchos, but don't count on it. When it does rain folks tend to pack the lower level and it gets really stuffy and uncomfortable quick. ___________ (#1) DC, Maryland, Virginia. Yes, really. (#2) If this isn't obvious to you, stay on the bus. Don't ever get off.
