Private 8pm sunset tour review - I'm guessing this tour is a make or break based on the guide you get, ours was lack luster. While he was nice, he didn't have a lot to add off the track I pretty sure he had memorized. I actually feel like I heard most about which monuments had the best restrooms than much of anything else (we never asked about bathroom situations). Would I book this again, no. Here is what I learned, you still walk a fair amount into these monuments from where they drop you in the golf cart vs. the people who are on the bikes and scooters. If you're really looking for the least amount of walking and able to operate those that would save you time and money. Overall, there was no value for the price tag for us and the guide kind of ruined the experience. read more

Capitol Express Tours are GREAT! they picked us up at our hotel for the tour which was amazingly convenient. Nathan, our tour guide was so friendly, personable and most important knowledgeable without feeling like we were in a classroom being lectured. He gave us plenty of time at all the sites. He even dropped us off at a Metro station after the tour and told us how to get to where we wanted to go, Postal Museum. Dropped us at Gallery Place and took the red line two stops to Union Station and the museum was right next door! Just wanted to make sure Nathan was acknowledged for his premiere service and I wanted to let you know how much my sister and I enjoyed the tour and set up our Saturday for a great day. We were on the first tour of the day to see where everything was and then spent the rest of the day going back to those places we wanted to see more of. And there were only 4 of us on the tour! THAT has never happened to me. A microphone for the tour guide and speaker wouuld be helpful if you are sitting further back in the golf cart. But overall. . . a 10 out of 10! read more

Tour guide Luis is simply the BEST! Visiting DC for the first time we researched so many different tour companies. We came across Capitol Express and decided on them because of the personal touch it seemed to have. We are so happy we did!! They were there a few minutes early and we were able to get started right on time. Our tour guide, Luis, was soooooo informative. He knew so much about the history of DC. Not a scripted knowledge, but a true knowledge. We asked questions and he knew the answers. We could tell the history of DC was important to him and we were impressed. He drove us safely throughout the city, let us take our time for photos and let us know the sweet spots for perfect family shots. At the end of the tour Luis took the time to ask us how we like DC, not how we like the tour, or how he did, but how we liked DC. This shows to me his pride in his city. We went on an 8:00 pm tour of DC. The guide/driver was in a hurry the entire time and did not give great info. It was suppose to be a 2 hour tour and a little over an in he said we have one more stop and I'll drop you back off at our meeting place. Very disappointing!!! read more

I am sure this would have been a better experience had my wife and I been facing forward. BEWARE you will take a 1 in 3 chance of having to do the entire tour facing backwards and see everything as the cart is speeding away from it. My wife wears hearing aids, so it was even more difficult for her to understand/hear anything with her back to the driver. At the very least, those should be discounted seats, as you may be lucky to get 30% of the full experience. Just was not worth the money at all. Be sure to shop around, wish I had!! read more

Our guide Teddy and The Washington Monument My we family went to DC on June 29, planning on doing the Trolley tour, but couldn't find exactly where to go for it, my husband saw these extended golf carts and asked about them. They were parked outside The Washington Hotel, it was quick and easy to do the online reservation and pay online. It's a 2 hour tour, stopping for a little bit at which ever tour stop so you can get out and take pictures and look around. AND is better because it's just your group and no other people (we had 5 people), so we didn't have to wait for others or hear their chit chats lol. Our tour guide Teddy was awesome, told about buildings along the way and drove safe! At the end of the tour he dropped us off wherever we wanted. The tour guide seemed very inexperienced and offered the bare minimum in history or fun facts. I expect tour guides to know and share things that you would only find out from them. This tour guide offered nothing more than "this is the XYZ building". She couldn't keep her lefts and rights straight and had to correct herself over and over. She mixed up names of the buildings. I don't feel like I learned anything I couldn't have learned on my own. She didn't seem to know what was allowed and what wasn't....she dropped us off to see the Capitol building and when we returned she was gone from where she had left us forcing us to search around the building on a panic for her. She told us she wasn't allowed to park where she had left us. Her driving felt reckless and scary and she cut off several vehicles including busses. We were in a golf cart so this was concerning because it definitely didn't feel safe. The golf cart doesn't have any clear plastic around it like I expected for winter, so it was very cold. Overall, not the experience we had hoped for when visiting our capital for the first time. I definitely wouldn't recommend this tour to others. read more

Took a private tour with Chris on Friday July 1st with my family of 7 (which included two toddlers). Such an incredible way to see DC (especially if you're only there for a few days like we were).
