My husband I joined the moonlight tour in DC over the Easter weekend. The guide communicated well beforehand, was at the meeting place promptly, very knowledgeable and fun to share the historical background of the memorials we visited, and overall very pleasant. Evening view of the memorials and the historical sites was spectacular, especially all the cherry blossoms fully blooming :) After the tour, our hotel was only a block away so we planned to just walk back to the hotel, but the guide offered to dropped us off at the hotel we stayed. Wonderful night tour. Went with my family of 5 and they were very accommodating and even picked us up from our hotel. The tour included a lot of stops of the top places you want to see along with some great info on history. I found the value of this tour to be excellent and glad we did this over one of the hop on and hop off options since we only had limited time in DC. read more

Highly recommend the night tour if you just began your trip in DC. George was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information about different buildings, monuments, sculptures and even famous eateries. My group made 6 different stops to walk around and take photos. If you're taking the tour when it is really humid, you may want to bring mosquito repellent. You may also want to bring a beverage. George does provide water but it was so hot and humid the night I went on that I was craving an iced beverage. George was an excellent tour guide. He is friendly and was like a walking encyclopedia of DC. Some facts needed a fact check though. I got to see a lot during this tour. It beats walking and taking different buses to see everything. We were excited to be able to see some of the historic sites and memorials in Washington, DC, at night. A three hour tour? Hmmm... I get apprehensive whenever I hear "a three hour tour, a three hour tour. The weather started..." Luckily, the tour was not on a boat. LOL. White House: The official residence & working place of the President of the U.S. The West Wing, the residence, and the Oval Office - The East Wing, where the Lincoln bedroom is located. U.S. Capitol - The Westside of the U.S. Capitol - The House and Senate Chambers - Ulyesses Grant, Garfield & The Peace Monument. National World War II Memorial - spectacular memorial with Lincoln in the background. Jefferson Memorial - The Tidal Basin surrounded with the Japanese flowering cherry blossom trees. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial - The MLK & FDR Memorials. Lincoln Memorial - Lincoln Memorial - Vietnam Veterans Memorial - Korean Memorial. U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial (Pass By only). This depicts the six flag raises at the Iwo Jima Memorial. You could see the Washington Monument as it towers overhead everything else. George was our tour guide and has lived and worked in Washington, DC, for over 30 years. "His experience as a concierge, licensed tour guide, and extensive experience in the tour business helped him gain knowledge of the history, culture, and architecture of Washington, DC." The tour was a bit rushed in some sense. But at least George kept on schedule. Also, depending on where your seat was in the van, sometimes the sites were on the opposite side of you, so it was hard to take pictures of certain things. read more

As a kid in Jr High I did a night tour of the monuments. I was happy to be able to take my own son on a night tour of the same monuments, as well as a few new ones that weren't built yet on my first trip to DC. George does a really nice tour, the bus was clean and comfortable, room for 12 but we had a few empty seats, makes for a very manageable group size. George even went out of the way to get us to a monument were on of the roads was closed, he knew an alternate route, good thing, Jefferson Monument is one of the best to see at night. read more

George is a very knowledgeable and engaging DC guide and driver. Every one of us learned something we didn't know before. Unfortunately, we were touring after a major DC parade the Saturday before, and some of the stops on our tour were unreachable because roads were closed to pick up parade fencing, etc. George compensated by taking us to several different locations that weren't on our tour over on the Virginia side. He had water ready for us and was so helpful taking photos for groups in our van and helping older guests out of the van. He has a great sense of humor and we enjoyed our tour very much, especially his deft changes to our itinerary at the last minute. Took the moonlight tour of DC. Took close to 3 hours from start to finish. Picked up up at our Holiday Inn hotel. He sent a message to coordinate and was prompt at arrival. Friendly and organized. Saw cool sights and learned some new things. Had just enough time at each stop. Had 2 bathroom breaks and a small bottle of water. 12 passenger van was perfect and manageable for a small group feel. Would recommend this tour to others but probably not the best for younger kids. We had a wonderful experience. read more

We had a great Friday night tour with George. My group size was 3 people, the total size of the tour group was about 10 people. George was very knowledgeable and parked in just the right places to allow us access to take photos and view the monuments. You make about 6 major stops in which you can hop out, there were also plenty of bathroom stops. I recommend bringing yourself a drink as most vendors are closed during the night tour. He picked us up on time and took us to all of the monuments dropping us off and picking us up as close as possible. We had a little extra time at the end of the day so he took us to the Albert Einstein statue, which was actually one of my favorite things. A great way to get an overview of the downtown area and see the monuments at night. Pros: -nice heated van. It was in the low 30's that night. -van is clean and in great condition -see the all prominent landmarks and monuments -you also get to stop at several with time for a quick walk around and photo op -historical narration is on point -George, our guide, is the best! Courteous and well spoken. He has lived in the area for 20+ years and is a great source of information for local eats. - the small group of a van is much better than a large bus Con: not really a con, but buyer beware. If you are not able bodied and able to walk easily, you may have to sit in the van as the time does not really allow for somebody on a walker to see the sights up close. Would definitely recommend this for your first night in DC. Update: I went to the sculpture garden during the daytime. FYI the silver tree is not made of silver but made of chrome, steel, and concrete. read more

I was looking for a good small group DC tour to complement my Big Bus tour. I saw the reviews for Sam and Sal's Tour company, and made pretty much a snap decision to call them. George answered the phone in an extremely friendly and professional manner, and all my interactions with him were way above that average. He is a great communicator! I took the night tour, and it started right on time. He has a very comfortable sprinter minivan with a really amazing sound system inside. I think it's hooked up to his FM radio, and you hear every word he's saying. He's very knowledgeable about Washington, and interjects humor every so often. It's a fast paced, fun filled tour and he gives you enough time at four or five major sites for you to get out and take pictures. He is very accommodating about picking you up at your hotel and dropping you off there as well. Before the tour started, I took his recommendation to eat at the Old Ebbitts Grill and I wasn't disappointed! It's so popular there were no tables available, but in the back of the restaurant there were plenty of spaces at the bar and I had an incredible meatloaf. Great night tour of DC. We did one of the big bus tours years ago, and while we enjoyed it, it did compare to this one. George picks up and drops off from downtown hotels which is the first perk. During the tour, he gives lots of background and history of what you're seeing (and not just the monuments either---he knows something about every street and every building.) The tour is 3 hours (compared to 2 hours for most night tours) and includes plenty of time at each monument and some surprise stops too. Highly recommend this tour. read more

We are a party of 10 with extended family members ranging from 8-84 years old with one senior member needing more care - which George (our tour guide, co-owner) was so gracious about accommodating his needs and the tour to minimize walking. We took the day time tour last month with George. He picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off at the Smithsonian after the tour which was a great time saver for us! He was very friendly and informative. The van was comfortable and the small tour size was perfect for us.
