I was very concerned that I wouldn't get to my hotel (on time) to get some adequate rest/sleep and wanted to get there before sundown. I had remembered everything, except for the ride from Scottsdale to the hotel. I called Vince and I am so happy that he took my emergency call and came to get me. He was one of the best drivers I've ever had, and that includes taxis, limos, and other private drivers. He's not one of those herky-jerky drivers and just so happens to be a great conversationalist. Here's what I mean. After a "perfect" (for some people) trip rafting the Grand Canyon, I was in need of some suffering. Everything went too well. Nobody got sick. Nobody fell out of a raft. People even enjoyed swimming in the frigid Colorado River. Nobody even complained about the oppressive heat. People are so basic. Anyway, after a disappointing trip filled without any disappointments, I was overjoyed to experience the shambles that is Airport Shuttle of Phoenix. When our pre-booked, pre-paid shuttle never arrived, we found out that our trip had been cancelled! Without any warning! Without any notice! At 8:45, the driver called to say he was arriving right then, which was 45 minutes before the rescheduled 9:30 time. We rushed out the door to find that we were in a small SUV that had every seat full and we had to sit in very uncomfortable, close quarters in a back seat with carry on bags in our laps for 2 hours. This was not the service we paid for. Not to mention, The other two people we were sharing the car with had also initially arranged for private rides as well. Now to address the rude behavior of the driver. No apologies for being 45 minutes early and after we were assured there would be plenty of room for all luggage (I doublechecked when texted about a shared ride), the driver basically tossed luggage into the back seat with us and said there was no room, so we wound up with luggage on our laps, making the cramped conditions even worse. I emailed the company my concerns and they said that since service was already rendered, they would not offer a refund but instead offered a discount code. A discount code is useless as I will never use this company again.

The communication was very good and we grabbed our bags and met them at the door. Heather was our driver and she was such a joy. She's also a parent and I think she recognized that it had been a long day. She interacted with our five year old during the 30 minute ride to our hotel and we were really grateful for that. She also picked us up when our trip ended and remembered our daughters name and that she needed a booster seat. We also had a driver for a jeep tour that we did and had them for about 7 hours. Our driver was Sam and he was very kind and helpful. When we arrived for our tour it was a little confusing where we needed to be and Sam hopped out and went to figure it out for us. He also helped us with finding a place to eat. We didn't expect the tour to run as late as it did and while we were out he researched some places we could quickly get into without a reservation. That was such a great help and unexpected. There was a lot of driving involved and we ended up keeping Sam for longer than expected but it was all handled smoothly and it was so great that we could relax and let him handled getting us around. We later learned that he had purchased a booster seat for his vehicle when he learned our daughter would need one. It's this kind of thoughtfulness that really made our trip to Scottsdale memorable.
