TLDR; Fred's work is exceptional, professional and friendly. He helped us build our dream backyard. We were looking to redo our backyard and we're searching for someone to design it in our vision. We met with a couple landscale designers and after speaking to Fred we decided to go with him and it was a great decision. Fred came to our house and measured everything. He asked us what we wanted and took notes. After a couple weeks we met with Fred again where he presented us 3 different designs. They were very detailed and had a video view of what the yard would look like. Bring able to see it before it's built is super helpful. We made a few modifications, but overall with he was able to take the concept of what we wanted into a really nice design. Fred drew all the plans required for HOA approval and it we got it without issues. The builder had the plans to spec with everything well measured and did not have any issues whatsoever when building it. Fred also met with us at the nursery to help pick out plants and gave us some great recommendations. If you're looking for landscape design, go with Fred. read more

Fred was our landscape designer for our patio renovation. This was our first ever renovation of any kind and he was so easy to work with. He was highly communicative and had recommendations for everything and promptly answered every question we had. He guided us through picking materials, layouts for the pavers, and even the plants that we wound up buying for the patio. I would highly recommend him. We couldn't be happier that we discovered Fred at Scancelli Landscapes. We've landscaped multiple yards now and will be going to Fred on any future landscaping projects. We came to Fred with our vision and our budget. He was friendly, responsive and listened to what we wanted. Since he only does design work (as opposed to design-build/contractor) there was no pressure to do add-ons or upgrades. Fred listened and gave suggestions but if it didn't work for us then he would just adjust the design to fit. Fred visited our house so we could explain in detail what we were thinking. We did multiple iterations, of which he created 3D designs to help us better visualize how it would look. Once we had the general concept down, he then went with us to the nursery to pick out our plants. Once the plants were finalized, he then created a final iteration showcasing the layout along with the plants we had chosen! Then he sent us the drawings in digital format and dropped off hard copies for submittal to our HOA. We were very excited and satisfied with Fred's communication and ability to put our vision into an actual design. At this point we thought his work was done, but he wasn't done - far from it! After approval of the design by the HOA, Fred recommended multiple contractors that he had worked with in the past so that we could bid the work out and find the right one for us. Throughout the bidding process, Fred kept in touch with us and asked how the process was coming along and if his referrals were working out. We did go with one of his referrals, and the work was completed about as perfectly as we could expect. Fred even came out to meet with the contractor and make sure that they understood his designs. In our mind Fred's work was done a long time ago but he still wanted to see it through to the end. Once the work was done Fred came out one last time to see the finished job. We've left other positive reviews for contractors in the past but our experience with Fred left us in awe. Thank you, Fred, for making a generally stressful experience become a positive and enjoyable one. We appreciate how easy it was to share our vision, your excellent communication and perhaps most of all your going above and beyond to make sure we were happy! read more

Hiring Scancelli Landscapes was the best thing we could have done to start our backyard remodel and we are positively thrilled with our experience from start to finish. Our goal was to add a pickleball court while still maintaining the lushness and beauty of our backyard, and it was important to us to have a 3-D video of the design to help us visualize the finished project. Working with Fred was incredibly easy and we feel like he really over-delivers value. It really is mind boggling how he was able to listen to all our desires, create videos of our exact backyard redone, allow us to make changes multiple times, and then incorporate everything into detailed plans that we can use to hire a contractor and complete the remodel. He was a fraction of the cost of the two other landscape designers we interviewed and gave us so much more than they were offering. We really appreciated Fred's knowledge of plants and the fact that he was willing to meet us at a nursery to show us live versions of the options he wanted our opinions on. He also brought up so many details for us to consider in our hardscape design and really helped us iron out the details. It's comforting to feel like nothing has been forgotten. Fred was so accommodating and patient with us, and we believe that because we chose well in the design phase of our project, there's a really good chance the rest of it will go smoothly. And an excellent chance we will end up with a finished remodel that we love. We really can't recommend Scancelli Landscapes enough and wish we could find professionals of Fred's caliber in other areas of our lives. Thank you so much, Fred! read more

When we started thinking about landscaping our backyard, I kind of freaked out about how to even get started and how hard this was going to be getting contractors and bids. Somehow I stumbled upon Fred's Yelp page and the path forward seemed to be clearer. Working with Fred was very easy. He came out to our house a few times- consult, measuring, and final plans delivered: he explained the possible options for materials and asked us what our must haves/ likes to haves were. He also took us to a local nursery to pick our plants. I didn't know what to expect after that but was blown away by the 3d video he provided us, it brought the whole Plan to life and got us super excited. He made a few adjustments but within a month we had our final designs and we were off to go find a contractor to fulfill on the plan. We got our designs started in January and our yard was done by April. I would highly recommend fred for landscape designs! read more

Fred was a partner in creating our backyard landscape in all aspects. He really took the time to understand what we were looking for, factoring in two large dogs, the maintenance that we were able to provide etc. Fred went down to the nursery and spent time discussing all our plants/trees selections and his recommendations. You've been provided us a beautiful rendering video. Of what it will look like -- and he nailed it. Fred is highly professional, caring, and extraordinarily knowledgeable. We could not be happier with the amazing design from Fred and Scancelli Landscapes that totally transformed the landscaping of our 40-yr-old front and backyard into a resort where we will spend countless hours entertaining. Fred was recommended to us through Nextdoor. He came out and spent time looking at our crude sketches, talking with us about what we wanted, and making recommendations for about 60 minutes. He was very pleasant, easy to talk with, and extremely knowledgeable about his craft. Once we made the deposit, he came out a second time to take measurements. Within a week, he had produced two computer generated versions of our design that blew us away!! (and they ended up being 85% of what we ultimately went with) After incorporating our comments into the second draft, he met us at a nursery where we discussed and picked out the plants we would be using. He then produced the final design drawings for bid along with the animation. Coupled with one of his recommended contractors (Newland Landscape), his design came to life less than a year later. We highly recommend Fred and Scancelli Landscapes! read more

It's been a pleasure working with Fred - reliable, punctual, and friendly. He showed a genuine interest in our project and advised us on a variety of design options for both our backyard and front yard, depending on what our budgets were. We particularly liked the 3D modeling to help us visualize what the backyard could look like with the proposed design -- for both daytime and nighttime views. Project plan is now in our hands with measurements and plant types -- we can't wait to have our contractor put everything into reality, but we'll have to wait a bit for the crazy COVID-19 prices to go down before we start. We also had him consult for my parents. read more

We recently did a complete landscape renovation and the absolute best decision we made was enlisting the help of Fred from Scancelli Landscape Designs. It took some time to get the initial appointment with Fred, but he was so worth the wait! Fred is professional and easy to work with. He helped us discover what We envisioned as our perfect back yard paradise. Fred provided us with not one but two complete and fully implementable designs along with videos which was vital for us to "see" the possibilities. The final design plans were incredibly detailed which made it easy for us to send out to contractors. Fred also helped my husband and I when it came to ideas for materials. He would reply to my many emails with very thoughtful responses and shared his opinions which we valued. I know our end result benefitted greatly from his input! I really felt that Fred wanted the best for our design and he stayed in touch after his job was done to see it completed In my opinion if you are taking on a landscape project you should absolutely try to work with Fred! We love our new yard and it never would have been possible without him! read more

Let me just start by saying that Fred is great!!! I got Fred's connect via a referral from a friend when we were looking for a designer to help us with the landscape design for our new home. I reached out to him and he was very responsive and we met at the property which was still under construction at the time. I explained to him the initial plan we had and what we wanted to do and how we wanted to use the space. He shared pictures of the landscapes he had designed and asked me to send him some pictures of what we liked online and in a few weeks he came up with 2 designs for us to review. He sent us the virtual rendering of the 2 designs within a few weeks. Once we reviewed the designs we met with Fred again and picked elements that we liked from the 2 designs for the final design. He also spent 4-5 hours with us at a local nursery to help us pick all the plants for our space which was especially helpful since we didn't know much about plants. Next we spend a few days choosing the hardscape tiles and Fred was also very helpful with that selection process and he recommended stores to visit. By this time we had moved in and he came to our house and spent a good amount of time with us helping us narrowing down what will work with our home and the design. Once we had decided on the material we would use he made a final design and generated all the detailed plans that we would need for the city and HOA approvals. Fred also recommended a few contractors that he has worked with in the past and who he thought would be good to execute the design. He also helped us submit the plans for the HOA approval and later helped the contractor with the city approvals when the city needed additional information/documents. We are very happy with Fred, he is very knowledgeable and a great designer. He has a lot of experience and points out potential pitfalls and design elements that can become a problem either from an implementation point of view or from a city/HOA approval standpoint. He is a very nice person and super easy to work with. He listens to your ideas and concerns and addresses them in a very timely manner. I found his prices also very reasonable and he is just very good at what he does. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a landscape designer. read more

A big shoutout to Fred at Scancelli Landscapes for a fantastic design for our backyard remodel. We had a 30 year old yard with numerous queen palms and tired old flagstone. Fred created a chic, modern space with comfortable areas for dining, cooking, and relaxing. The change was absolutely dramatic. He was very easy to work with, always good humored, returning phone calls and emails promptly. He listened patiently to what we wanted and made suggestions to refine the design. Really enjoyed working with Fred. He listened carefully to what we were after and put a beautiful design together which we were able to view via a rendering on the computer. My family enjoys outdoor living. Working with Fred, we refreshed our landscaping to add additional entertainment space, decrease water usage and expand our edible garden in a water-wise way. During Fred's initial consultation, we discussed our goals for the landscaping job and our style. Fred built on our existing curved borders to create a new look for our outdoor dining area. He provided excellent, colored CAD drawings for our contractor, Water Smart Landscapes. Fred accompanied me on fact-finding excursions for paving stones for our hardscape. This project removed about 1/2 of the grass in our backyard. Our new raised planters are overwhelming successful and we've continued incorporating edible plants as we built out the garden. Throughout the process, Fred maintained a balance between our ideas and his. He is very professional in meeting all commitments. I can't tell you how please we are with Scancelli's work. I am one that does a lot of research into whom I choose for any work and Fred went above and beyond our expectations. Fred sat down with me and my wife and patiently listened to all of the concepts we wanted for our courtyard and backyard. My wife and I have very different tastes and he was able to present design ideas that incorporated both of our preferences. As a matter of fact, he was able to provide several options for us to choose from and we ultimately made a blend of two of the options. Today, we have a backyard that we couldn't be more happy with and design elements that "wow's" all of our guests. It's a perfect place for the family to lounge at any time of the day, yet fully functional as an entertainer's domain. Above all of this, he came in so reasonably priced versus all of these other landscape architects, it's hard to believe. To boot, he provided all of the proper designs (2' x 3' paper copies) to submit to the association and landscaper which made the entire process extremely smooth. These are very professionally done as well with a copy for plant design and light/landcape design. Oh, I should mention that he is a specialist in plants/trees as well so a trip to the nursery is a true delight. I can't wait to see the yard when some of these plants have matured. He's a true professional and partner when it comes to getting the design you want. I can't recommend him enough. read more
