I don't think I've ever given a review two years after the service was rendered. But some services and products take time to prove their worth. Two years ago, OC Sprinkler Guys replaced our antiquated and inefficient above ground sprinklers with inground drip irrigation. They also replaced the cheap and failing malibu lights with quality fixtures that were water and weatherproof. We cannot be happier with their work. They were on time, on schedule and had a knowledgeable crew that put everything in without a hitch. Our patio is simply beautiful, water efficient and properly lit. I was referred to Alfred by a neighbor whose front yard garden is spectacular. He'd received 3 quotes and Alfred's was in the middle. He said he couldn't be happier! I decided to do the same and found Alfred and his team to be exceptional. I'd previously had roses and grass throughout but had switched to natives, succulents and DG in my large backyard. The quote was reasonable. Alfred is clearly very knowledgeable and was easy to reach. He always came when he said he would. He knows a lot about all kinds of plants, too. He had great suggestions for my succulent wall and also the grandkids gnome garden! Once the plan was designed, it wasn't long until it was done! I am a psychologist and have a beautifully landscaped large yard designed by a nationally renowned landscape architect, i.e., Scott Zucker. The OC Sprinkler Guy manager, Phillipe, came out in a timely manner, professionally evaluated the need for new lighting and repair of older lighting, showed samples of lighting fixtures, and provided the opportunity to spend at any budget level I desired. The work was quickly scheduled and completed by 2-3 professional installers, i.e., Paco, Gambino, and Luis. All employees were professional, friendly, outgoing, appropriate, considerate of all requests, and hard working. The job was very fairly priced, the manager came out with the owner to review the job, and they corrected any concerns without any hesitations or price increases. Work is superb and well done. My only dislike is the charging of a 3.5% surcharge for the use of a credit card. California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma and Texas have laws that prohibit merchants from charging consumers with surcharges on credit card transactions. Cal. Civil Code §1748.1 declared unconstitutional in Italian Colors Restaurant et al. v. Harris, 99 F.Supp.3d 1199 (E.D.Cal. 2015) that no retailer in any sales, service, or lease transaction with a consumer may impose a surcharge on a cardholder who elects to use a credit card in lieu of payment by cash, check, or similar means. Any retailer who imposes a surcharge on a cardholder who elects to use a credit card shall be liable to the cardholder for three times the amount at which actual damages are assessed. Alfred came out to access a broken sprinkler situation. We also wanted him to take a look at the overall set up. He was here for over an hour and said to do it right it would cost $2900.00. We do live in VP and have a big lot but this is not a new system and I felt like this was a lot. He wanted to charge us a $100.00 for an estimate (most estimates are free aren't they????) He did seem to know what he was talking about for the work that needed done but his price was outrageous. I never did get a written estimate from him. read more

Alfred was great. We had a system self installed by the previous owner of the house, which had developed underground leaks. Once we called him out he carefully examined the whole system, confrimed that issue, and explained that a lot of the problems were also caused by the wrong selection of heads by that previous owner. I called OC Sprinkler based on their reviews and that they were local. It was the first time I used them. I met Felipe at the job site. My sprinklers were not shutting down and I needed help installing an anti-siphon valve. Felipe started to explain to me that he was a job estimator, but I immediately picked up on the fact that he was very knowledgeable of irrigation systems. He carefully and patiently explained to me what I could do to avoid a charge. He helped me get started. I appreciated his professionalism, integrity, and concern. I finished up on my own. Amazing!! I've been meaning to write this a while ago...we wanted some simple landscape lighting in the front and back of our house and it was incredible what others were charging. Felipe was the only company who would work within our budget while still giving us quality materials. He and his crew showed up on time, finished the work within the estimated time and didn't try to up-sell me. Now, just under 2 years later, the lights in the front weren't coming on. Alfred and his team came out for a drainage issue that I had in my backyard. Excess water from my water conditioning system would flow out the yard causing puddles of water to settle in a particular part of the yard. They were able to install a catch basin that lead to an existing drain pipe. Now, water drains into the catch basin to a pipe that is hidden underground to the existing drain pipe. I enjoy writing reviews when I feel a business deserves recognition. That would be an understatement for Alfred and his team of Felipe, Herman, Robert, and others! After reading excellent reviews on Yelp, I scheduled Alfred to come out and provide an estimate on landscape drainage issues as well as a complete outdoor lighting strategy. It is difficult for me to meet during business hours so Alfred agreed to meet when I got home from work. Due to traffic, I was late. Alfred kindly waited for me and spent a good amount of time discussing approaches for both projects. Since it was dark out, he offered to come back on the weekend to get a better look and we discussed pricing then. Having met with other landscaping companies, Alfred seemed the most knowledgable and affordable so we gave the green light and work started 3 days later. Below is a list of all of things Alfred's team did as part of this job. 1) Created and installed a great lighting plan to illuminate our large front yard. 2) Determined the root cause of my drainage issue and excavated many heavily clogged pipes. 3) Installed new pipes and multiple new drains. 4) Re-leveled the soil so water now flows to the drains. 5) Installed new grass to repair my gopher damaged lawn. 6) Replaced my sprinkler timer with a more reliable unit and repaired sprinklers that were not functioning correctly. 7) Ran new electrical to get my fountain lit up and running again which required trenching. 8) Corrected many electrical issues in my garage. 9) Removed many problematic bushes and trees including a 20 foot tall tree that Alfred discovered led to the drainage issues. 10) Set us up with appropriate plants and mulch to finish and beautify the yard. 11) trenched and ran new electrical to our property entrance for future work I'm doing that requires power. I'm sure I missed a few things, too. Alfred and his team were all easy to work with and they respected my budget. They did exactly what I wanted and had the expertise to make the end product even better than I expected. For example, other contractors told me they would have to saw cut my cement to connect new drains to the existing drain which would leave discoloration between the old and new cement. Alfred's team wanted to make everything look beautiful so they trenched below the cement so no cutting was necessary. Their designs have great vision, are aesthetically pleasing, and budget-conscious. They also corrected issues they came across on their own without nickel and diming me. A lot of work was done in a short period of time and it was still our smoothest contractor experience. I trust and highly recommend Alfred and his team to all of my friends and family who need outdoor help. I'm already planning our next project with them! read more

We originally contacted Alfred last August when we were looking to remove all the lawn in our front yard and replace it with a more water friendly alternative. We had considered artificial turf but Alfred suggested other alternatives that would look more natural and still have the water saving effect we were looking for. He introduced us to his brother Reggie who designed a beautiful xeriscape including low maintenance plants and lighting. We couldn't have been more pleased with the job they did. The crew arrived every day on time and despite hot August temperatures of close to 100 degrees worked very hard to complete the job. They ran new sprinkler lines and installed high quality lights that were strategically placed to highlight the new plants. Alfred and Reggie were on site every day to ensure that we were happy with the transformation and made sure that all the sprinklers and lights were performing as expected. Fast forward to March 2017. We wanted to improve the look of our backyard pool area and knew that Reggie and Alfred would be the ones to do the job. Again Reggie designed a beautiful tropical theme, brought in new plants, lighting and sprinklers. We are thrilled with the transformation and look forward to spending time in our new backyard "resort." read more
