Came here on a Friday night for a gathering. I've been to the location at Yonge/Gerrard and was not overly impressed with the pasta. I completely avoided the pasta this time and overall enjoyed the experience. First we ordered several appetizers (bruschetta, calamari, spinach and artichoke dip) which were fairly good. I also ordered the smoked bacon and egg pizza after being told by the waiter that it was one of his favourites. My recommendation...do not order the smoked bacon and egg pizza it is as weird as it sounds. I don't know how to describe it but I didn't love the taste. The egg was still runny so when I accidentally popped the yolk it was all over the pizza which wasn't great. Other than that the food was good and drinks were fine as well. Service staff was attentive and friendly. Overall a fun night and looking forward to coming back. read more

Scaddabush - Italian Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

This new branch of Scaddabush has been in the works for a while, and the wait is finally over! The location is can't be beat. The downtown core, ACC, CN tower and union station are just steps away, so it's the perfect spot to gather before or after events. The space itself is deceptively big, which will hopefully make it easier to grab a table during peak hours. I always drift towards pasta, especially when it is made fresh in house. They have a sign informing you of who is making the pasta that day (thanks Neil!). I got the fettuccine capri, which as a softer wide pasta peppered with little peices of shrimp, clams, and calamari. The flavor was unfortunately bland and less flavorful than I was hoping for. The additional sprinkling of freshly shaved parmesean and pepper did little to help the situation. I stole off my neighboring plate and found the shrimp spaghetti much more to my tastes. The spagetti was a good al dente, the flavor was bold and there was even a spoonful of fried capers to sprinkle over the dish. I will definitely order that next time instead. One thing that can't go wrong is the portion size. I got the small, and their small is more like a generous 'regular' size in any other restaurant. I came starving and I could barely finish my dish. Be prepared for leftovers if you go for the bigger portions, or alternatively share it with someone! read more

Great atmosphere, Service and food. In Toronto for the RC trade show, enjoyed diner both nights at scaddabush . The Diablo & Butcher Pizza were amazing read more

The atmosphere was bustling as the entire restaurant was crowded on a Tuesday evening after work hours. Our group of 4 people was seated quickly even though we had no reservations. We ordered items to split; the Diavolo pizza (chicken), the Butcher pizza (meat lovers), and the Bucco bites appetizer (pieces of pork on bone with crisps). Love their signature pizzas, as Scaddabush is known for since they have wood fire ovens. Food was great and good for sharing. Love their gimmick how they provide giant scissors for guests to cut the oval shaped pizzas into whatever proportions they choose. The pork meat in the bites was tender and fell off the bones. They were covered in a sweet sauce, which wasn't too heavy. The service was ok. Their POS point of sale system crashed so they weren't able to take credit cards and could only take cash. We were out of water in our jug so we had to try to get the waiter's attention for refill. All of the waiters and waitresses appeared to be in a scramble though when their POS system went down, along with the large crowd for the night. read more

Loved their fettuccine mushroom truffle. :). With soft warm focaccia bread. Did not like the burrata with that sweet hazelnut flavour. Service was great. Ambience is good. Washrooms are good. read more

Decent food.. nice ambiance.. appetizers were definitely better than the mains! Servers are friendly though

I've only been here twice so far and both times felt that the staff were very friendly and accommodating! I tried their spaghetti carbonara and it was delicious, highly recommend! :) read more

Meaghan was a great server! She made sure our wine glasses were always topped up. Thank you Meaghan for taking care of us!

I came here with my family around 9:30p on a Sunday. We just arrived at our hotel, and this was one of the closest place that was still open to have dinner. The inside was dark, with a rustic Italian vibe meets sports bar, and the music pumping pretty loud. The dining area was somewhat empty at that hour. We ordered some soft drinks and a small shrimp spaghetti (C$17.50), a regular shrimp spaghetti (C$23.75), baked penne carbonara (C$18.80), the butcher pizza (C$18.85), and the polenta tots (C$9.95) as an appetizer. The polenta tots were pretty good. It oozed out of the crunchy fried batter as I bit into them. The shrimp spaghetti wasn't bad, but nothing exciting, although I liked the spicy poor man's Parmesan and the generous amount of shrimp, even for the small portion. The baked penne had good flavors, but the sauce was watered down at the bottom, which made me suspect that the pasta wasn't properly drained? The pizza was good and a nice portion. We tried to order some appetizer bread along with the polenta tots, but they ran out. I was surprised since there was still time until they closed at midnight, and the proceeds for this bread goes to local charity so wouldn't they want to have enough to go around? Also, the coke that I ordered was delayed because they had to change out the coke dispenser (I think that's what our server said...couldn't hear her very well the entire time because of the loud music), but I ended up having to wait for 15 minutes, which was after our appetizer came. And it was completely flat. My husband mentioned it to our server and her response was "Ohhkay...?" In an and-what-do-you-want-me-to-do-about-it way. I just said forget it. So our first night in Canada wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst either. Perhaps it was just a long day for all of us, including our server. read more

My team and I came here for a dinner and food was alright. Service was decent! I ordered the baked carbonara and it was good! I wouldn't say it's amazing, but average. It was a little too heavy for my liking, but for someone who doesn't eat pasta that much, I'd say it was decent. As for service, I thought it was average. The server did not do anything out of the extraordinary for me to feel that it was great. All in all, I'd say come if you want to find a big place to accommodate a group. read more

Food was delicious and our server Alexis was fantastic! Will be sure to come back. Be sure to try the mushroom malfalde.

Wasn't feeling too well, so I ordered off the kid's menu and chose pasta with butter. Appreciate the server accommodating my unusual request. My son ordered the pasta with meat sauce and my husband ordered a flatbread pizza. Both enjoyed their meals. On a lark, decided to add the handmade mozzarella as well. The mozzarella was served with a tomato jam that was amazing! The cheese was very mild and the bread was the right mix of crusty outside and soft inside. read more

My family visited Toronto and swung by this place for lunch after visiting CN Tower. The interior was nice but our server was so forgetful. She didn't bring a cappuccino until we had to remind her. She acted like she didn't forget but it was obvious that she forgot. She also forgot to bring the bread that comes with one of our orders and we had to remind her again. My youngest one had a kid's meal that includes dessert and she brought our bill without asking my daughter about the dessert. We had to remind her about the dessert and she acted like she didn't forget. We had to sit there ~15 minutes after paying the bill to get my daughter's dessert. Overall, the food was okay but our experience was not too pleasant. read more

Service was quick and the good was great! Our server Paul was very friendly. Would definitely come back again.

We happened to be in Toronto as a Blue Jays game was ending. The streets got very busy. We ended up walking a couple blocks from the CN Tower and found this place. The menu seemed to fit everything we wanted. I ordered a gluten free pasta dish with two very large dollops of mozzarella. They make their own pasta and mozzarella. So fresh. The pizzas are a flat bread style and they come uncut with a pair of scissors. Weird but delicious. The atmosphere was loud. Definitely trendy. It was a Friday night and a game just got out. The restaurant had its own DJ but no dance floor. It might be a little too much for some people. We were hungry enough that it didn't bother us. And the food is definitely worth it. I would visit again. Maybe not on a weekend. But the food is good enough for a repeat. read more

My best friend took me here for my birthday. Service was alright, our server took our appetizer and main orders at the same time. When the appetizers came, we expected our mains to come within 5-10mins after finishing. However, the food did not come and our server approached us telling us that she had forgotten to punch in our mains and that it'll take another 15mins+ for the mains to arrive. This was not a BIG deal for us, however we expected the food to at least be tasting AMAZING if it was going to be late and for the price we paid. The Chicken & Shrimp was delicious, however the herb spaghetti that came with it was not. It was undercooked. At the time I was very hungry so I didn't say anything about it. My friend however, got The Butcher pizza. Based on the photos I provided, she could not get through with it as the dough was very very hard. It took her quite some time to bite through it. Our server did not come to check on us until the very end but ultimately we got a refund for the pizza. read more

Enjoyable, high quality pastas with intelligently seasoned meats. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and the location.

We came here to celebrate a Bachelorette party and made reservations prior to coming. We were told we would be getting 2 booths in the bar area for our large party but upon arrival we were taken to one of the large tables where we were all able to sit together. Definitely a nice surprise. The waitress provided good service and was quick in our drink and food orders. We ordered a variety of different foods starting with the fresh Mozzarella. We loved it!! For dinner I personally had the Gnocchi Gorgonzola which was not disappointing. The gnocchi tasted fresh and the combination of mushrooms, onions and baby arugula was really good. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals and had no complaints. This is definitely a great place to go at any time. Food is reasonable priced and various options are the best. read more

Very interesting meal at the downtown Scaddabush! All Italian driven. My pizza was large enough but the salt was off the scale even for a pepperoni pizza. Very tasty to say the least. We ordered the Mozzarella cheese plate. Didn't taste like much until you added the pinch of salt they recommend. And then....boom! It exploded in flavour. No issue with the service. Would define go again but this time spend more time at the meal. read more

Came in on a Sunday evening, and it was fairly busy. We had made reservations for 7 people through Open Table (call into the restaurant to reserve for tables greater than 6). We originally were 5 people; however, the restaurant had no problems changing out reso to 7 people. The food was good but the noodles were a little hard. If it was just a tad softer, it would have been perfect. However, I loved that the Spaghetti Sorentina came with a large mozzarella ball on top. It really was the icing on top of my pasta. I also enjoyed that there was a generous amount of basil. Overall, I think the atmosphere is good for a fun night out -- music was a little loud so having a conversation took a little extra effort but I would come back. Keep in mind that the portion sizes are quite generous here -- a sociable plate could probably accommodate 4 people and a regular pasta size was good for 1 (if you're hungry). My friend ordered a small ravioli and it was definitely the perfect portion for 1 person. read more

Service was great - first meal (early dinner). after a long travel day into Toronto to visit. Had a child, and he even found something he liked (meatball was massive). Didn't have a reservation but didn't have to wait (it was early but also a Blue Jays home weekend). Food was 4 star, tasted good but nothing great. First time at Scaddabush- didn't know what this place was about, but my friend told me it was good quality italian bar place, and yup it lived up to the expectations. The food was delicious! The venue is cool. Went on Fri night, there was live DJ music and it was busy. I got the Sausage Peperonata & Fennel Fetuccine. Prices are hefty, my pasta was $19, but the portion was huge and it was so delicious, the creamy sauce and the spice kick and especially the amazing housemade fresh pasta, that the price is almost justified. Rosemary fries were delicious. Just gave 4 star cuz the service was bad- our server took forever for everything, overlooked many things - our table didn't have utensils, he brought our food and I didn't have any fork to eat with nor kleenex, and a lot of other small inconveniences which were frustrating because it would take forever to wave him down. He never came to check up on us during our meal so it took a long time to wave him down to get the bill. Could have to do with the faraway corner location we had, but still he could've done better. Apart from the inattentive service, the place is nice and I'd come back for the delicious italian fare and nice lively bar atmosphere read more

I came here for dinner for a birthday party, I ordered a cocktail, split calamari with a friend and had the Zucca Ravioli (butternut squash) for dinner. Everything was great, my bill alone came to $50 so it was pretty expensive for just myself. The ravioli were really sweet with the added "poor mans parmesan" which I found was sweet. But overall the food and atmosphere is nice. It's like a casual Italian sports bar. I would come back here for lunch because I think the price versus the food quality would be worth it but not for dinner. read more

Very cool vibe and nice servers. The food was not good. I ordered the fettuccini bolognese and it tasted like it just came out of the microwave and was left out to cool because it arrived lukewarm. I then ordered the chocolate panettone bread pudding to go. When I got to my room I noticed that they forgot the ice cream and the bread pudding had just come out of the refrigerator. I definitely do not recommend eating there. read more

I really wanted to concentrate on the food for this review but our waitress was just a rude person that was angry at life. Our tip to you shouldn't have been twenty percent it should have been "you are in the service industry suck it up buttercup or find another job you miserable lady" We arrived late about 12:15am. If they said they stopped serving food we would have been fine and moved on but the kitchen was open. The waitress made a point of 1 being miserable 2 looking at her watch every time she stopped at our table. We ordered right away and ate right away her other tables that were already there stayed after we left. You are the opposite of Canada lady. My buddy ordered a beer and I only got water. Beer came right away water about 15 minutes later. Perhaps she had to go the lake and get some by hand the way she acted about it. The pizza was average but the bacon (see pic) was cheap bacon and raw. If you do not precook bacon do not put it on a pizza as it does not cook on the bottom. Use back bacon instead or precook it. Any way Canada sucks for pizza and it was my fault for thinking they would be different. Only reason for two stars is the hostess. She was pleasant, friendly and took pride in her job. She needs to be a waitress and our waitress needs to be a dishwasher...such a miserable person. read more

Stopped in first night in Toronto and had a fabulous meal! Aiden was attentive and knowledgeable. Everything was incredibly well prepared and served beautifully. Drinks seemed a little light, so would probably do beer or wine next time. Mozzarella with tomato jam is the stuff dreams are made of. Caesar salad was delightful with a bit of a bite and crispy prosciutto chards. Everything just fabulous--will certainly visit again! Pizza primavera was so fresh it seemed vegetables were just picked--fantastic for vegetarian daughter. Angus meatballs equally pleasing to the non-vegetarians. Scaddadon't -What a terrible experience- I called to see if they could take a reservation for 7:30 they said no reservations but should be no issue when we arrived - not so - waited for 30 minutes to be seated as we watched close to 60 people finish eating and leave - whoever's running the show wasn't. We got finally called to be seated with countless tables unoccupied. After the wait we were told there was no bread - all three types or their "famous meatball" - no fresh mozzarella as well mind u this is an Italian restaurant - now that we were ordering what was left on the menu we were expecting it to be good. Also this wasn't our first time, we have been coming here for years- that won't happen again - mistake made - we got our pasta and it was undercooked on the verge of not being cooked. Got to use the bathroom get a nice look at my pic of the ceiling - stay away no longer a good restaurant. read more

Two nights in a row, we went here for dinner because it was located directly across from our hotel. At first we went because it was convenient. The second time we went because we remembered how good the experience and food were the night before. They make homemade pasta every day. They also have a special chef that comes in and makes their mozzarella fresh each night. My daughter really loved their Caprese salad with the truffle oil. It was really good! Our waiter said I must try their meatball. I say meatball because you only get one of them but it is really big. I noticed all the tables around me had one on their table too ... because our server loves it so much he's great at explaining that people should try it. I was glad I did! My daughter really enjoyed their polenta tots. However, the tots were not consistent from one day to the other. The first time we had them, they were crunchy on the outside and very soft on the inside. It was really a nice contrast. The second time we had them, they were not as crunchy on the outside so it seemed a little mushy. In addition, the second night we got half the size portion then we did the first night. Both evenings, we had fantastic service. I would say the service definitely gets five stars while the food and inconsistency brought it down to four. Would we go back again? Yes! And I hope we get one of the servers we had last time because they really made our visit feel special. read more

I visited Scaddabush on a Wednesday during lunch. It's a very busy and loud joint since it's in a popular location. It's a very large restaurant. Service was professional and fast. I didn't particularly like how low the chairs were compared to the table. It felt very weird to be sitting at the table. The table was just significantly higher. It made for a weird dining experience. The decor on the wall was depicting an Italian lineage. Photos and frames of such of people. I really enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan meal. It was a huge chicken breast that was cooked nicely. It was very flavourful. There was a lot of tomato sauce infused with basil. I didn't expect to receive such a huge plate of noodle pasta. In my opinion it was more than one serving of pasta. Nevertheless, it was much appreciated. Overall, I would visit Scaddabush again. Probably for a longer dining experience in the evening. read more
