Ambiance: patio located right on the front street. Unfortunately they have no control over who uses the bathroom outside their restaurant but expect unpleasant smells. Food: Mushroom truffle- disappointed. There was hardly any alfredo sauce. I had to use the sauce provided on the table to add flavour. Fresh Mozzarella: definitely an intriguing item on the menu. It comes with perfect pairings and great for sharing. Seafood: two words - spicy and flavorful! Service: our server was very nice and knew the menu very well! read more

I went here on Tuesday night with my brother and we didn't have to wait long (just a few minutes) for a table on the patio. We shared the calamari and spinach dip to start, and then the giant meatball spaghetti and the butternut squash ravioli. The service was good and the food came out quickly (and was well timed in terms of spacing out the courses after we ordered everything at once). I really liked the spinach dip, and they gave us extra crostini upon request at no charge. The ravioli was the star of the show IMO and the baseball-sized meatball was flavourful and delicious. They ran out of the desserts we wanted to try but that was ok because we're stuffed anyway read more

The bread and the fresh mozzarella platter with the prosciutto was outrageous. The margherita pizza was whatever but the pasta was super duper. Our server Alaney was the best! Super sweet, helpful, and attentive. We even had a lively discussion about how preposterous it is that hazelnut everything is so en vogue now even though hazelnuts taste like dirt. :) read more

Worst place I ever eaten .. Shame to say this is a n Italian restaurant & bar.. Just loading your plate with pasta or starch and calling it a Angus beef Rigatoni Bolognese is stupid. Not even ounce of beef to see. If you bring young boys & children you'll feel like crying when you see the food plate full if $2 worth pasta & cheap sauce. I ordered Mediterranean salmon which said 6 ozs of salmon but tge slice was so thin its was less than 4 ounce. I wish I had a picture taken to post it online. NOT WORTH FOR YOUR MONEY AT ALL. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVEN IN MY DREAM. SO DISCOURAGED ABOUT THE FOOD. Went with a group of my friends and everyone had mixed reviews. Some really loved their food while some got half cooked pasta and had to send it back. One of my friends asked for gluten free pasta and while the kitchen accommodated it, her allergies still flared up making me believe it wasn't cooked entirely gluten free. Possibly won't be coming back as there are better Italian restaurants that move faster and would care for the allergies better read more

In town for just a couple days and gave Scaddabush a try for lunch today. Really enjoyed the food. Fresh Mozzarella is a must-try. But the best part of my lunch was Mark's service. I realize that I should now expect that Canadians are friendly, but my goodness, he was wonderful. Totally sincere and attentive and positive. I'm flying home to L.A. in just a few hours, and ending my trip with good food and the kindness of others is the perfect exclamation point on my short trip. Thanks brother! Came here for Italian food with my friend after we had gone on a cruise along the Harbourfront and we weren't disappointed at all with how our food turned out. I do not remember what he had but I ordered myself their lasagna and it was very delicious. The restaurant is located in a great location in Downtown Toronto. It is within walking distance from the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, the Glenn Gould Studio, you name it. Can't go wrong with that. The restaurant is also surprisingly large so you shouldn't have any issues with getting a table quick. My only complaint would be the service. When we were ready for the bill, it seemed as if our server "disappeared" for a while. We weren't in a huge rush so all was fine, however this is something to note if you don't have all the time in the world to casually eat and relax here. Other than that, I'll definitely be back. Nice job, Scaddabush! read more

Omg. Literally the worst pasta me and my guest have ever had in our LIVES! Service and location is great. But the pasta. Oh boy. We went in December 2021. They claim to have freshly made pasta but ours definitely wasn't. It was most certainly old pasta that was sitting there that they reheated prior to serving. It was ALL clumpy and stuck together. I couldn't even twirl the spaghetti the way you are normally supposed to twirl it because all the noodles were stuck together like a pile of clump!!!! We were very polite and didn't tell the server anything. We just did our best to eat what we could and we left. It was Christmas time and we didn't want to give any difficulty to the waiter who was really nice. After that horrible meal, we decided there and then to never come back, if this is what they are serving to customers. Totally unacceptable!!! How can you mess up pasta?! The rest of the night I had difficulty digesting my dinner because Of how heavy and clumpy the pasta I swallowed was. Ew. Sorry but just being honest. read more

The appetizers were amazing. The mozzarella is great, with the fig jam. The pastas needed more sauce, they were dry and very lacklustre flavour for the price. The pizzas were very good. Overall great vibe and place to eat but request more sauce, a lot more, if you are getting the pasta. read more

We stopped here for a bite after the auto show. We were seated pretty quickly and service was prompt. They have a good variety of pastas, pizza and sandwiches on the menu. They had some new specials which we opted to try. The Seafood Fettucini and the lasagna. We started with Charity bread which is focaccia with olive oil and some Padano grated on top. That was We ended up waiting a long time for our mains, and our waiter told us twice that "they are coming". Finally they arrived and I had to confirm with the waiter that the item that mine was the lasagna. It dId not look like any lasagna I ever had ( hint - no layers). It had all fallen apart on the plate. 0 out of 5 on presentation. However 4 out of 5 on taste. Seriously though - enjoying in a dining experience is partially how it looks. We also noticed that diners around us got their food way faster than we did. So the service was good, and the food tasted good (hubby did like his dIsh) but there are definitely some disconnects. Wine was ok but pricey and not a lot of Italian options by the glass. So do try it out but careful if you order the lasagna! read more

Best thing here are their deep fried mozzarella balls. I also always get a pizza, this time it was the butcher. I also enjoy the lemon garlic shrimp-spaghetti, I love the fried caper. Scaddabush is a great option when I'm feeling like something casual. The fresh mozzarella with fig jam and prosciutto is my FAVOURITE and this is the one thing I actually come to Scadda for. They also have a good happy hour (half price drinks), but unfortunately, the fresh mozzarella isn't available until 5:00 pm (and I always make the mistake of showing up when it isn't available...). The buca bites are good - the pork is tender and flavoured well, and I like the pappardelle crisps and the honey drizzle! The baked penne carbonara with a soft egg on top is pretty good - the pasta has nice texture and I basically like anything with runny egg yolk. Do not get the caprese salad - it is extremely disappointing. It's a small bowl of arugula with bits of mozzarella cheese roughly thrown on top (and I'm pretty sure the cheese is from the day before, because I ordered this dish before they start making the fresh mozzarella). Overall, Scadda isn't my favourite for Italian... I can get better pizza and pasta elsewhere. However, the menu has lots of variety and decent portions, and tastes pretty good (just nothing special). read more

They have green sangria! Yum! I love to try new things so that caught. My eye immediately and I'm glad I tried it. Absolutely love it. Had a pesto chicken pasta dish and loved it. The restaurant is loud but the food and service are great. This was my first time trying it and will certainly be back to try other menu items. Great drink menu and plenty of menu items to please any palate. The garlic cheesy bread was outstanding so I'd bread is your weakness then your taste buds will be extremely happy. Great value and a trendy place for dining. I recommend this place and look forward to coming back. Stayed across the street at the Intercontinental so it was convenient and turned out to be a great dinner choice for my first night in Toronto. Italian food, in the mind of North Americans, evokes an image of rustic cuisine and the use of quality ingredients. In my experience, very few restaurants are able to capture the essence of this culinary art, paling in comparison to what authenticity brings to the table. Sadly, Scaddabush must be added to this list of failed experiences, falling flatter than a piadina. The Venus of my life made the reservation for November 15th at 6:30 pm. My first thought upon entering the restaurant was that the dining area was much too big, as I believed that it would be very hard to satisfy a large amount of people appropriately. We were served by a young gentleman with good hair, though we didn't catch his name, as he didn't introduce himself. We ordered drinks; I got the barrel aged negroni. I assumed that the drink would have lost some alcoholic potency while being aged for two weeks, but I wanted to stand corrected. My assumption was correct, and that would have been fine if the beverage had some complexity. If there was any, it was masked by sweetness. Only a few of us ordered appetizers, and all of the food was run without much of a wait. I had ordered the greens salad to start, which was very serviceable, and my favourite part of the meal. For the main course, I got the Diavolo pizza. Now, I understand that Italian pizza sauces are to taste of tomato, and the San Marzano sugo tasted of pomodoro. In my opinion, however, it is possible to find quality tomato sauces that are not from this specific region of Italy and, much like Arborio rice, is more of a marketing ploy from the Cosa Cucina (that said, it is important to recognize the food heritage of Italy, but not necessary for making quality food). The caramelized onions were missing from my pie. The deluxe flatbread tasted fine, but compared to the salad, was a bit disappointing, as the dough was missing that matured flavour I would expect from a Neapolitan 'zza. My girlfriend, who ordered the Mushroom Truffle Fettuccine, had added the "fresh" mozzarella to her plate, and gave me a bite to taste. This is my biggest issue with this chain. I understand that the mozzarella is assembled to order. The cook takes the curd and heats it in hot water to form a ball. Scattabush can call this "fresh" all they want, but they order in their cheese curds. How is a cheese fresh if you don't make the curds in house? How long does the curdled milk stay in the warehouse before it gets shipped to the restaurants? How long do the curds sit in the fridge before they are turned to mozzarella? These are questions I've pondered before taking a bite out of the formaggio "fresco". Chewy, overcooked, unpleasant, these three words (and many others) I would use to describe the cheese they take pride in making "fresh" to order. Maybe I have been too hard on this soft ball, but I was truly disappointed, though not as disappointed as I was with our mysterious server. After he delivered our drinks and took our order, he vanished. Food runners were there to bring us our courses. I sat with my empty glass of what was once negroni for what seemed to be 30-40 minutes before l'Inafferrabile returned to take our plates. I did see him helping out at the bar. Maybe the establishment was short staffed, but his being unable to tend to our table put a damper on the experience. When he returned, he did not ask if we had enjoyed our food, though he did ask if we wanted desserts. I ended the evening with their Peanut Butter Espresso Martini. It tasted of a regular, yet sweetened, version of the drink, with very little taste of the star legume. I know that many who are reading this review probably think I'm being too harsh on Scaddabush and the coiffed man that served us, but I am generally a very easy man to please. I am content with a simple diner burger with ketchup and plastic cheese. That said, to pay $130 prior to tips (which I didn't feel compelled to deliver), a certain level of service is to be expected, and Scattabush was unable to provide this to me. Very rarely do I not leave a tip, but this Italian themed bonanza was, in my humble opinion, undeserving of one. read more

I am SO happy we stopped into this restaurant after seeing a show down the street at The Sony Centre. I was really in the mood for some Italian, and we saw this place on our walk through Toronto. It was pretty busy for a late Saturday night, so I figured the food must be good! We of course sat at the bar, my boyfriend's favorite seat in a restaurant. Our bartender was attentive, and gave us suggestions on what was best. We weren't entirely too hungry, so we settled on a few small plates. I of course had to order the soup, and went with the tomato fennel. It had such flavorful, and the fresh melted mozzarella really pulled it all together. We also split the straight up meatball, a huge meatball with a three-cheese sauce that was absolutely to die for. I enjoyed a glass of their red sangria, and my boyfriend had a few different beers. The atmosphere was really welcoming, and the decor made it feel super homey. I really loved this place, and would definitely recommend you try it out! Their fresh made mozzarella is worth it in itself. read more

Came here to meet a friend after work to catch up and have dinner, they were having a celebration on the patio and were offering free drinks and appetizer and it was quite nice! We actually sat inside but they welcomed us to go out on to the patio and help ourselves. While we sat inside, the servers bringing the food around would come by our table once in a while to offer us some of the appetizers and it was so nice! We ordered the margaherita pizza and the butcher pizza. I was quite surprised to see the size of the pizza when it arrived, I actually thought it would have been smaller. It was quite filling that I even took the rest home and had it for lunch the next day! We landed in Toronto last night and no one had eaten all day. So, we took a walk and came across Scaddabush. We could smell the food from across the street. They quickly seated us and brought water. We ordered bruschetta and worship bread for appetizers. The bread was light and crispy. The toppings were delicious on both. For dinner, some people ordered spaghetti and a giant meatball, others had the bacon and egg pizza, another person had rigatoni with sausage and fennel, and I had zucca ravioli. The ravioli was so good - the flavors and texture-a little crunch from baked cheese on top plus the creamy sauce. The others said the meatball was light and delicious. All of the food was eaten. We had some tiramisu and gelato for dessert. The tiramisu looked delicious. The flavor was pretty light so some really loved it. If you're craving the typical espresso flavor in tiramisu, this one probably won't cut it. Nevertheless, it was a sweet, creamy and ultimately delicious way to end the night. We all enjoyed the food, service, and liveliness of the restaurant. This place is great for groups and anyone craving Italian. The price was very reasonable as well. read more

After our journey around Italy, I took another view of Italian food and thought what could go wrong if I give it a try? Came for lunch and tried out the signature spaghetti & meatballs. Overall it was an okay experience, overall better than my expectation for a chain store, but room for improvement on the pasta. The pasta itself was overcooked and lacked that al dente texture which caused the entire plate to have a overall boring and soft texture. The huge disappoint with the pasta wasn't that it was overcooked, but there were several noodles that were clumped together and lead to a very unpleasant bite. The redeeming portion of the dish was the huge meat ball in the middle, they don't kid around with their meatballs. When they say baseball sized, they really were baseball sized. It was seasoned well, very tender, and just overall very homey and exactly how a meatball should be. read more

After a less than impressive experience at their Scarborough location, I was a bit reluctant to dine here but my dining companions were looking forward to it so I gave in. Good thing I did. Nice atmosphere, good service, the floor in our section was a bit slippery, were the first impressions. Our food arrived a little quicker than we anticipated (before our last diner arrived). It certainly looked good. I ordered the grilled sirloin steak which was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly medium rare. It could have used a few grains of salt but it was good. My companions enjoyed their meals as well - freshly made pasta and pizza. I guess there is something to be said about second chances. Oh, and my friend picked up the tab. Yesss! Visited On: January 4, 2020 Would I Return: Yes Ordered: -Regular Spaghetti & Meatball ($19.80) Thoughts: We arrived just after 7:30 PM on Saturday and got seated in a booth right away. To my surprise, the restaurant didn't seem too packed, although later on, it did get a bit more busy. As January 4th is Scaddabushs' special day, they were offering the regular size spaghetti and meatball ($19.80) for 50% off ($9.90). You'd expect a mediocre dish for such an incredibly low price, but the spaghetti and meatball blew my mind! The portion size was huge, I struggled to finish my meal. I requested it to be saucy and spicy, so it wouldn't be dry and would have a nice kick, which it did. The fresh basil and poor man's parmesan added great flavors. My only complaint is that the meatball was a bit dry. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the service and quality of food. In the future, I'd be more open to trying this, instead of my usual Shrimp Spaghetti. read more

I've always wanted to try this place. I've passed by it many times and I finally got a chance! The decor was great and the booth seat we were at was by the patio so a gentle breeze wafted in often to cool us off. The server, who is extremely courteous and welcoming, explained the giant meatball and was very patient with my indecisiveness. I must have taken 10 minutes to decide. Honestly, I wanted to try everything, and I still do. I got the fettuccini capri, which is a seafood pasta. My bf got the spaghetti and stuffed meatball. My friend recommended me the pasta hence my decision. Wow :D stuff tasted super fresh and their pasta is great! Texture is good, and the chewiness was interesting. Despite being fettuccini and spaghetti, it was able to absorb the taste. Also, it didn't break even though I twirled it hard. We also had calamari but it came out soggy. We were like ehh but the server came and asked us how it was. I said "it's.. Alright". He was immediately concerned and asked what was wrong with it. I told him and he offered to bring a new calamari free of charge, and apologized profusely for the error. We waited a while and he checked back with us, and we said we don't have it yet. He went into the kitchen and got us a brand new dish of calamari that looked and smelled great. It was even tucked into a newspaper cone, which had not been done for our first calamari. He apologized again and said the head chef checked before sending it out. Not sure if it's true, but it tasted totally different. The customer service was phenomenal here. Thank you, man loop server with a NZ accent! You're splendid. read more

Great location and ambience with average food and service. I've been to Scaddabush in Richmond Hill and knew what the expect. I came with a group of 7 and made reservations. The restaurant was fairly full on a Thursday night so resos are recommended. Convenient location means great for after work drinks and dinner if you work in the financial district. I was a bit disappointed with the Polenta Tots we ordered which were better at the RH location. I ordered the Spaghetti and meatball (stuffed). The meatball was huge and flavourful but I found the spaghetti and the sauce sub par. Overall, A-OK. Will probably have it on my list of convenient restaurants around work, but won't be in often. read more

Nice venue in the heart of Toronto. Very busy place with a party atmosphere. A place to go and have fun, but not recommended for an intimate dinner. We started with the bruschetta classic. Great flavor, and very pretty, but the bruschetta got soggy very quickly. I ordered the Gnocchi gorganzola for a main. It was pretty and was a lot of food. Cream sauce was good and I really enjoyed the peas and mushrooms. However, the gnocchi was a little too chewy for my taste, and the arrugala on top seemed kind of bland. Four stars for the fun party vibe and friendly fast service. The food I ordered not the best, but from what I hear, most dishes are made from scratch in the kitchen, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. read more

Scaddabush is one of the newest restaurant in the financial district. I came here for dinner with co-workers from our offices in the US. It was quite busy for a Tuesday night, so I recommend a reservation. The waitress was very helpful in providing recommendations. But since Scaddabush is known for its meatballs, I knew what I was going to order. We started with a plate of bomba burrata mozzarella. It came with toasted bread, slices of tomato and slices bacon. The bacon provided a nice saltiness to it all. I'm not a mozzarella connoisseur, bit it reminded me of cheese curds that squeak when you bite into it. The spaghetti and meatball were very tasty. It was indeed a singular meatball :) I ordered the stuffed meatball, which is stuffed with mozzarella. I couldn't tell that it was homemade pasta, but it definitely tasted different than pre-made pasta. The meatball was huge and is quite filling. Amazing service! I love how much they respect the customers opinion, and I love how much they give out recommendations. Me and my friends were celebrating a birthday and we got the Noodle and meatballs, and pizza. The meatball was huge! They measure it by the pound so it's very saucy and juicy. Did you know scaddabush make their own pasta, and bread?! The pizza was amazing as well, it's not a thick slice that you would find at any other pizza area, but it's a thinner slice and you get to cut the slice you would like to choose. The price would be alright due to the fact that the portions were huge. Me and my two other friends slip the bill together and it came out for $20 per person.
