We have used this business many times but not the last 10 years. It was horrible, except the owner's assistant. The order was wrong, the business was closed at 1pm for a 2pm pick up and the owner was so rude and accused me of being wrong about the time. This business is an absolute scam! They gave us a window this morning to pick up the chairs and tables for my friend's bday party, but work came up and could make their window to pick up the rentals, we called within an hour after the deadline and they said we can't pick them up anymore because they are closed. This is at 2:00pm and their business hours is until 5. Today is a Friday and they are not open tomorrow, even though online it says they are open on Saturdays. Icing on the cake is that they are not going to give us a refund. We should have heeded the warning of other yelp users and never used this place. Lesson learned. Gigi helped us when we were in a pinch finding industrial clothing racks when we decided to demo our master closet. We needed the racks quickly and she helped us find 3 large racks at the last minute. We then needed the racks for a longer time due to construction delays and she was very accommodating. While they were able to rent us a propane grill for an event, the propane tank that is rented with it had about 1/4 tank in it, and ran out after cooking only 40 hotdogs and 40 burgers. That amounted to about 45 minutes of action time. We had specifically instructed them to provide us a full tank and they said they would but failed miserably. With 10 burgers to go, the propane ran out and we were stuck with raw burgers on the grill and a hungry crowd to feed. I called them to let them know that we needed a propane tank brought out immediately and the person that answered the phone said he couldn't do anything about it, admitting that he had knowingly sent out a low propane tank, and said that no one was at the shop to deliver the tank until "later". We had to hustle over to the nearest gas station that sold propane, buy a new tank and return to finish cooking off the burgers. They did eventually deliver a seat propane tank but our event was over at that point. From what I understand, frequently their linens have holes in them, or are stained. After this mess, I am truly hesitant to ever use them again. read more

These people are ruthless! I went in to rent a tent and some kids tables and chairs on a Tuesday. I had to cancel three days later because the weather took a turn for the worse and they wanted to charge me half the amount of the total bill! I understand having a cancellation fee but seeing that 200 of this bill was just in setup and delivery charges (which obviously didn't even happen) I feel that was not fair at all. So really she was only giving me back 100.00. The total bill was a little over 500. When I tried to convey this to the woman who runs the place she said fine, your not getting back a penny! SC Rentals delivered several tables, dozens of chairs and a handful of tablecloths with no issues. 2 days after they were supposed to collect all of the above from our yard they called to say their truck broke down and asked if it would be OK to pick it all up in another couple days. No big deal on my end but when they came they left 1 tablecloth. They called to say I needed to return it right away otherwise they'd charge $45. I was traveling the entire week and they simply didn't care, they wanted their tablecloth or my $$. I was more than reasonable letting them keep their stuff at my place longer than it should have been so I found their refusal to swing by and grab the tablecloth next time they came through incredibly offensive. Run Don't Walk away from this place! Rude, dishonest, zero customer service. Rented some chairs over Labor Day weekend (no delivery so I had to pick them up and return them myself). They told me to return them by Monday at 2:00. Monday was Labor Day so I called to make sure they were open so I could return them. No answer left message. They called me back at 11 and said they were leaving early because it was Labor Day, so I have to return them within 45 minutes. I was not home and it still needed to load the chairs and drive them over, so I asked if I could return them the next morning instead. The woman very rudely said she would charge a full day's extra rental if they were not there within before noon. Had to cancel my day's plans and rush to get their chairs back. We rented a tent for Thanksgiving this year, since we're actually still in a pandemic...ate outside. We didn't know if we'd have 10 or 24. Service was great, frankly. Installers got the tent up quickly and totally accommodated us, moved it around for us until it was just where we wanted it. When they arrived to collect it, same. Easy peasy, in and out quick and quiet. What was frustrating about the rental was the cost. In looking online, I was under the impression it was $200 (or thereabouts, I think the prices have changed a little online AND I can't remember what size we used). Online, there was NO mention of installation and delivery. So the price went from $200 or $250 to literally nearly $500. I wanted the tent. I would have done it anyway, for peace of mind in case it rained. It just sucks that there's not a breakdown of additional fees, even if the fees are approximate. I understand that if the tent is being delivered 15 miles away, it'd cost more to deliver. I'm less than a mile away. It was just frustrating and I felt like I got the wool pulled over my eyes; figured on an amount and then was like, "Wait, what?!" read more

I wish I had listen to all the reviews before I dealt with these people. I placed an order one day and 12 hours later had to cancel it. The owner and the person on the found were rude and yelled at me. Claiming that she said all sales were final. Save your energy and hunt elsewhere! No delivery here for small orders. I returned table clothes with very small circular wax drippings on them and she said, "I am going to charge you for new ones." I told her, "This is why you guys have bad Yelp reviews!" SC rentals has been a place we have used over the years for events. I decided to go with them for our reception party for tables, chairs and linens. They were cheaper than the other company in the area and unfortunately there is a reason for this. Tables, chairs and linens were delivered Friday and come Saturday Morning when setting up we were missing 16 chairs. I called and spoke to the owner who stressed numerous times to me that they are closed on the weekends and she isnt sure what she is going to do. She did ultimately come through with having someone drop off the 16 chairs but not before she reminded me multiple times that they are closed and made it sound very inconvenient. Not sure what party rental company is closed over the weekend when most evens take place but apparently this one does. so beware The quality of the tables and chairs are on the very loved and used side for sure. Thankfully linens were all good and covered the tables. pickup went smooth and overall the process wasnt terrible but for sure i was regretting not going with the other company. In the end the savings of $200 wasnt worth the stress and hassle of getting the missing chairs delivered and the rentals were very worn out Overall You get what you pay for with this company and you have been warned read more

Not only did they forget one of my tables, they also gave me a child's chair that was useless for my event when I needed exactly 14 chairs. I needed a last-minute rental for a graduation party as we were short chairs and tables. SC rentals helped me out with two six-foot tables and a couple chairs very reasonably priced drove in filled out some paperwork picked up my items and left. They were in good condition and it really helped that it was close nearby and easy to do. Would use again. Also picked up some extra table cloths that they sell at a very reasonable price! read more

My family rented a 20 X 20 tent for the third time over the past years. This year they showed up and demanded $95.00 to go up 14 stairs on delivery. This short of notice forced us to pay the extra money. We even went down to the office to visit Gigi and was VERY unsatisfied with the results. I will never use them again and will tell everyone about my experience. to summarize, horrible customer service and price gouging. I ordered 15 chair covers the day before Thanksgiving and prepaid over the phone. When I came in I asked to add to my order with 3 extra chair covers and 3 folding chairs. Gigi was annoyed at me and reluctantly added to my order complaining that the line was long. When they loaded the 3 folding chairs I noticed she gave me the padded ones instead of the regular plastic ones I requested so I went back in to ask for a price adjustment for the plastic folding chair, that put her over the top. She began yelling at her staff who had taken the padded chairs out of my car and replaced them with the regular folding chairs. Then she began yelling at me. After going back and forth with her She yelled, "So you want the chairs or not". I said no! She then threw my refund in cash at me. She was so incredibly rude. Needed to rent a sink snake (for a stopped up sink). Nice woman at the front desk got one out. Told me the cable had just been replaced. Plunged it in. It ran. The head I needed was attached via tie wires. The head on the cable was the wrong type, but I knew I could swap it out. Didn't mention it. Mistake #1. The large head could not be removed. The machine could only be rented for 24 hours. I went to a meeting and planned on cabling the sink afterwards. (Mistake #2). The foot pedal kept falling out. Tried to tighten it up and reinstall. No go. Returned the machine, unused. Expected a refund. Wrong. No longer "nice woman". Now angry woman who told me I should have known the head couldn't be changed. The foot pedal was easy to fix, and essentially I didn't know what I was doing. No refund. I would never use them. Poorly maintained equipment, bait and switch. read more

Gigi is an Angel and she and her team supported and guided me through every single step of the way as I was planning a high tea themed outdoor Bridal Shower for my sister in San Clemente. I was planning this event all the way from New York and Gigi was so incredibly accommodating to all of my needs, responsive to my every call (despite the time difference). She went above and beyond for me and was even understanding of the rainy weather concerns I was having and was flexible with my party rental requirements up until the last minute. I don't know any other party rental place that is willing to be on standby like that! Unheard of. And don't get me started on her delivery team! They were on time, efficient, incredibly courteous and just so willing to help me with every question and concern. Gigi and her team were even willing to be on standby to accommodate anything else I needed. I loved working with Gigi so much and felt like she was such an integral part of the party planning that I invited her to be our guest at the party. She just felt like family and was just as invested as I was in making my sister's bridal shower a night to remember. Plus, her inventory of rental equipment is tremendously vast (all the linen colors you could ask for and so many chair options), the quality is top notch, and her price and service cannot be beat. They delivered the wrong item for my party. Instead of trying to fix the situation Anna blamed me for the error. I placed the order reading the item name directly from their price sheet. I brought the item back 20 minutes after it was delivered. Anna and the "manager" refused to refund the price of the wrong item. Again blamed me for the error. When I asked again for the refund the manager said she would have to talk to the owner. Finally they did refund me. No apology for the mistake just blaming the customer for the error. I've ordered party rentals from this company for years but not any more. Also, the quality of their chairs, serving dishes etc are questionable. The chairs on this order are all dirty. I will have to clean them before the party. They are more interested in servicing customers in Newport or Laguna than San Clemente as stated by the manager. Finally, they gave me some story about having to call in an extra driver and truck just for me and charged me $30 more then their regular delivery fee. The driver who delivered the items placed them on my trash cans and clearly had other deliveries. I'm surprised at the lack of service in a business that is all about service and quality items. I rented a chocolate fountain and was told, '"we can't find the directions but it's really easy. Put 1lb of chocolate in, melt it in the microwave no and turn it on". I followed the directions. The chocolate never flowed. It was stuck. My dessert was ruined and all the food I bought to dip in the fountain was useless. When I returned the fountain and voiced my complaint I was told, "it's your fault. The fountain has worked all week. It's not the fountain its you. You should have realized that the chocolate was too thick to melt and added some sort of oil or butter." WTHeck??? Then they asked me if I was a party planner because "party planners know this." We rented chairs and 6 , 8 ft.tables but we're disappointed on the tables. They're all beat up and had writings or graffitis on it was very difficult to cover with plastic table cover. We used 2 covers still the writings showed. When my husband dropped it off they're 3 ladies working and somehow they disappeared to help him unload. My husband came inside and asked for help because he was headed to work Monday morning and not dress for it. After waiting and late for work he end up unloading and left it. Really bad experienced with this company. I think they figured that he's a man and should unload by himself. SC Rentals should not hired females if they're not willing to unload. Not renting again...
