Delicious food and fast, friendly service! Inside is more of a rustic charm and clean. Make sure if you are staying at the RV park next door to let them know and you'll get a discount!

Excellent wings... super delicious. Thank you to KATIE, BRITNEY, for the best customer service and serving us with a beautiful smile. The wings are a must try and have the best flavor. Inside is super clean and nice. Highly recommend

Okay but seriously the brisket here was delicious! Me and my husband have recently started staying at the RV park adjacent to this place and the front office told us we get 10% off for staying at this campground. So that was intriguing enough for us to want to try it out. I'm not a huge BBQ fan but i do enjoy brisket every once in a while when my dad cooks it at his house. Sorry dad, but this is honestly the best brisket I've tasted! Super moist and flavorful. My picky husband even found it to be just as good. Giant portions too! Customer service 10/10. Environment was cozy and plenty of seating inside and out.

Stayed at the RV park next to this place and we could smell it as soon as we pulled up. Very clean place. Staff is super friendly and caring. She had the brisket salad and I had a two meat plate (ribs and chicken wings) with fries and baked beans. They had a variety of different house made bbq sauces. We tried them all and they were very different and all great. We washed entering down with a couple bottles of the local favorite, Fitz's root beer. Very tasty meal all around!! We were just passing through from far away so I don't know if we will be back, but it DEFINITELY made a lasting impression!!

The BBQ was amazing and serve spectacular. It's crazy to find such great BBQ in that location.

Yeah dude this place is great. Service is far above from other bbq spots around. I found my favorite was the brisket Philly. Definitely try that dude. The ribs are ok, not my first pick. The coleslaw and okra were great. Word is they make their own coleslaw. The okra is probably a sisco bag, but fried crispy and not soggy!

If you are wanting some pretty good BBQ near downtown St. Louis, this is the place you want to try. My wife and I met our in-laws for a quick bite to eat at the Sawmill. We have been going to this place now for about 4 years. Tonight I went with their 1/2 chicken special. I'll tell you I'm glad I did. The chicken was cooked perfectly, moist and smoky delicious. My mouth is watering while writing this review. I ended up trying the mac and cheese jalapeño poppers and the fried okra as my sides. All the food was really good comfort food. They have 4 different flavors of BBQ sauce. I would recommend getting samples of each one. You will end up dipping your fried okra in the white sauce while dipping the rest of your food in the other 3 sauces. You can't go wrong with any of their sauces. My wife ended up with a turkey sandwich with a double order of green beans. My wife mentioned that her food tasted really good too. Both my wife and I went with their fresh brewed tea. I like mixing sweet and non sweet tea to balance it out. Their tea is pretty good too. Overall, the food and service experience from the Saw Mill was good and we have not had a bad experience yet and I recommend this restaurant. FYI - In the past, I have ordered chicken wings, pulled pork, nachos and ribs from this place, all good eating.

Not bad bbq. Stopped by on my lunch break and had the pulled pork and coleslaw. It was above average and would go back if I was in the area.

My research brought me here to Pappy's. I'm very glad it did. Ambiance starts with a line out the door, literally. You slowly shuffle down a long hallway full of Pappy's memorabilia. Then you make it to the ordering counter, order, and find a table. The dining room is huge, plenty of tables, with a full complement of sauces on each table. The service people at the counter were friendly, and so were the people delivering the food. The food came out quick and hot and delicious. We had baked beans and potato salad for sides, and they were pretty solid. Nothing show-stealing, but no complaints about them whatsoever. And of course, we got the ribs. Tender, juicy, a nice bite and chew, a decent bark, just a really wonderful rib. Better than any St. Louis style rib I've ever had back home in Florida. Other states, hard to say, the jury's out, but in that moment, I was eating a five-star rib. So good. We also got a 1/4 pound of the Burnt Ends. Usually, burnt ends are the king of meats, but I think we've entered the phase of America, where they're just another variety of meat and not necessarily upper echelon anymore. That being said, these were pretty ok. Should have gotten more ribs. Overall, Pappy's was pretty wow. Great local spot with a lot of pride and history, excellent ribs, I will definitely try to come back next time I'm in town.

It's not hard to see why The Food Network rated Pappy's as the "#1 rib joint in the country", as this place is next level bbq. You can smell the bbq from down the street and it will instantly make you hungry, even if you just ate... The place has the "cool bbq joint vibes", the employees are ultra-friendly, and it's fair/reasonable priced based on the quality of the food (runs between $40-50 for two people). Strongly recommend getting ribs, but their smoked chicken and turkey are outstanding as well. I didn't love their original bbq sauce (it was too thick and sweet with a heavy molasses flavor), but the hoodoo spicy sauce was out of this world. I would put Pappy's up against some of the other big named bbq joints in the country and they'd hold their own... Definitely worth the stop when in STL.

Bbq is different depending what part of the country you're from but the original sauce was too sweet for me and the other ones just weren't to my liking. The service is what gave this place low stars. The hostess were very friendly. We were told 25 minute wait but watched another party walk in and ask about the the tables outside that they were able to just sit down at. We asked about the other table and were told we could sit after waiting thirty minutes, not sure why they weren't using those tables to begin with and weren't asking if people wanted to sit inside our outside. Our waitress was just terrible. Took her forever to come to our table, we were ready when she finally showed up but would only take our drink orders. We heard her tell the other table as well who was ready to order they'd have to wait until she came back with the drinks. She also didn't come around to check on us and only offered the table next to us refills. A bus boy also passed our table asked to remove empty plates but left ours.

The owners are very approachable and could immediately recognize us as Filipinos when we were sitting and eating there. The restaurant reminds me of a "fancier" Filipino style like you see in big tourist spots in Boracay. I do admit, the wait is a bit long as we were waiting for almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. However, I feel like the complaints about it from other reviews are ridiculous since this place isn't considered fast food, but cooked with love. I mean- when I was living in The Philippines, everyone has patience of a saint, especially when it comes to food so I do not see the wait time as an issue. It's not served immediately like karinderya style. I ordered the Filipino-style chicken BBQ and I'd like to say that it's so delicious and flavorful. However, it doesn't remind me of home. I do want to point out to definitely ask for tuyo kalamansi with chili for the dip if you're not a fan of vinegar. I was told it was homemade by the owner and it did not disappoint. The pork BBQ that my father ordered was a bit too hard for his liking, as Filipino meat tends to be on the softer side. The ube banana pudding is also yummy, however, it is way too sweet for our liking. I'd like to point out that Java rice is so good that I think that it isn't enough for a Filipino like me and I personally don't want to pay for another cup of Java rice. There were more sides than rice tbh. I was also a bit bummed that halo-halo isn't in the menu at all, With that being said, I feel like the food and desserts here are mostly catering the American palette, but it would be good for people who has never tried Filipino food.
