Lovin that Sushi
Jason P.

Time too talk about Uber Eats...was a little afraid to order this because I live in California and my son is living in Colorado, but it was his birthday today and I wanted to do something special. I found this place on Yelp, and specifically ordered from here because of all the mostly good reviews this Sushi restaurant has on the site. My son was not able to come in, so I sent it over Uber Eats and I must say how excited he was to receive such an amazing meal. I ordered 4 sushi rolls and some other items and he got them exactly when the time slot came up. I ordered on the site the day before so I could secure the right time slot and I must say it worked without a hitch. The items were super well packaged and he absolutely loved the food! He said everything came exactly as per the menu. He really enjoyed everything he received! Thank you SO much for helping make my sons first birthday away from home special. I'll order for him again for sure!!

Great Sushi at excellent prices. We had 3 Hawaiian roll, French and Crunchy California Rolls and every single bite was to die for!!! First time here and will not be our last.

Let me start by saying that I love sushi... and that I am posting this much later than originally anticipated... I really enjoy trying new and different things whenever I have the opportunity and Sawara definitely delivered! My sister and I were getting pretty hungry and had a long-standing rain check to get sushi together. With COVID, there weren't really any places we had the option of visiting in person, so we decided to order in. My sister found Sawara after a quick search and we were able to see the menu on their website. The search results didn't list delivery as an option, so we gave them a call and a nice man on the other end of the line confirmed that they were able to provide delivery service through a third party (DoorDash). In today's world, delivery has become the popular option among those that would rather not venture out to get a bite to eat. While I totally understand that, I'm not really a huge fan of these large third party delivery companies; for many, the fees tend to pile up but the restaurants and delivery staff don't end up seeing very much of the profit... but I digress. We placed an order for a handful of rolls - about a 50/50 split between vegetarian choices and non-vegetarian choices (mine were the non-veg... and pretty spicy to boot!!). I forget exactly what each roll was called, unfortunately, but we received our order within the quoted window with a jolly text message from the delivery person when it arrived. He double checked our order to ensure it included utensils, soy sauce, extra sauces my sister had asked for, and napkins which I appreciated so sooooo much as there have been many times details are overlooked in cases where there are some pretty detailed requests. Both my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our rolls and frequently furrowed our brows at one another to convey an "I didn't think this would be so yummy" sort of look lol. The fish - in my case - was so unbelievably fresh and tasty and each flavor written in the menu description was well accounted for after each bite. My sister loved her veggie rolls as well... we mutually agreed that this would be a meal we would be glad to put ourselves into a food coma for! LOL. Thank you, Sawara, for your excels food, excellent service, and reasonable prices. Whenever I find myself in your neck of the woods I will be SURE to stop in.

The sushi is amazing and the prices aren't bad either! Most of the choices are the same or less than king soopers "snow fox." I always order miso soup as well and it's one of my favorite places to get it!

Decent sushi. A step up from grocery store sushi. Enjoyed all three of our rolls. Dragon gone wild was both our favorite. The booths are quite uncomfortable, and the paper products seem wasteful. Feels like a cafeteria, not a restaurant. Will try another place in CR before coming back.

This place deserves accolades! Great fresh & high quality sushi, huge variety of rolls, excellent pricing (why would anyone buy sushi at WholeFoods, for example, when it's no where near this level, not as fresh and more $$). This "fast-food" version of sushi rivals anything else in town, even the traditional style sushi restaurants. I've had sushi all over the country and find this little Castle Rock sushi restaurant to be a true gem. Added bonus: the owners are super friendly and we've never once had a to-go order with an error (out probably 50 orders). Perfect, beautiful sushi every time. They are very serious about their business and the quality of what they offer...very healthy rolls and not the gross deep fried BS that so many places have; IMO that is not real sushi-it's adulterated and unhealthy. Sawara's is authentic, legit sushi. Some may not be able to appreciate that but if you are a true connoisseur, you will appreciate the consistency and purity. Sauces are creative and provide uniqueness (ex, the Red Sea roll with "Habanero Lemon Sauce" and the Sunshine roll with "lemon ginger sauce." and there are great options for spice-lovers (Fireblast roll for ex--we like with spicy mayo)...Other favs are New Sawara, Dragon Gone Wild, Sweet Dreams, Crazy Love & Pina Colorado for something a little sweet. Sashimi and nigiri is also excellent--generous cuts and always very fresh. They even have "no rice" rolls (we love the Evergreen) and gluten free and Vegetarian options. I hope they never leave Castle Rock because we're hooked for life!!

Escolar was good, as the best it can be but Id highly recommend going off the daily special sheet that's offered with the sushi order form. It was a great foray into less common and delicious alternatives. I wish my server was a bit more informed on the tastes and types, but we managed just fine. Tai, Chinese, and other: Full standard menu of common dishes. Great for anyone who doesn't want sushi, and it stands on its own Chinese and Tai menu, if you are in the mood for those dishes. Luckily I didn't see tai green curry on the menu, or I would have had to order take out as well. Red curry is offered, and Pad Thai is next on the list. It packs up, so either call ahead or be willing to wait a bit during rush hours. They observed my reservation with us arriving a little early, they still sat us on time, but ahead of those waiting in the seating area. Standard noise during busy hours, which is the norm these days, but we could still hold a conversation even at peak. Family seems to be the name of the game with little ones trying new things. A few dates but not over formal.

I love getting a la carte of the hibachi soup - hits the spot when you're sick or recovering. The chicken and steak are our go-to orders. My favorite part might actually be the veggies!! Cooked so well. The hibachi meals come with salad, soup, a bit of noodles - basically everything you'd get if you ordered while dining in. Seriously the portions are amazing for the price! My husband loves to get the fried rice as a side, but with my surgery I've been trying the white rice and it's still good and great portion sizes, once again. Love the salad and dressing - I appreciate them packing the dressing on the side. (Honestly they pack their to-go orders very well!) they pack up the sauces for dipping the meat in, which are delicious! I wish the chicken had a tiny bit more flavor, but it's really great (and that sauce could make a shoe taste good!) As far as a la carte sides, I prefer the spring rolls over the crab Rangoon (though the Rangoon is not bad!) Overall, I can't wait to try it in person when I'm healed. Until then, I'll keep ordering delicious takeout. Highly recommend.

However, within a few minutes of placing the order I received a call, wanting to confirm which location I had wanted to place the order through. I had accidentally chosen the wrong location so they canceled my order and had me place it again online. They called the other individual I was with who also placed an order. This must happen pretty often if they're calling every single person that places an online order and I will say that I did not notice that I picked the wrong location when I placed the order. So I was grateful that they called to confirm. The order was ready when we arrive to the location and everything was accurate. I started with edamame. And I will say it is pretty standard edamame. I also wanted to try a California roll. It was really fresh and I would definitely order one again. My favorite of the appetizers was that Gyoza. Those were so good. I always order them with Ramen in Kansas City but these knocked any of those out of the park. For Ramen, I went with a classic tonkatsu. The menu description said that it came with corn and bok choy, but I was missing both of those items. The Ramen itself was really good. The broth was super rich and they gave you a lot. There were also a lot of Ramen noodles. And I did like the addition of the bamboo shoots. The marinated egg was fantastic. This classic was so tasty. If I lived in the area, I would definitely visit pretty often. There's so many different menu items that looked so good and I'm sure the other Ramen varieties are fantastic as well.

We were seated quickly and our server was there to take our order. I loved the look of the restaurant with the beautiful murals on the wall. We placed our order quickly. Then it all fell apart. Our food came out but only 3 of the 4 meals. It was clearly a mistake on their part but no apology at all. The pho (11) was horrible. This party was accustomed to eating pho and this serving was not good. The spicy beef was tough and dry. The service that started out so well quickly became terrible. We had to flag our server down for everything: Drink refills, to go boxes, the bill - and it's a small place!!!! Now the billing - I hardly ever include the receipt in my reviews but I wanted to be clear - they charge for refills!!! The drinks were $3.75 EACH!!!! I had the iced tea. Just plain old unsweetened tea!!! I was charged $3.75 for a refill. When I asked about it there was a hesitation and then a response of yes we charge for refills. If you go here to dine, I hope that your experience is 200% better than ours. I will not be returning and I am a second chance person. May our experience be an exception - that does happen.
