I went here on Saturday this week,and met Savvy Herself. She was very friendly, helpful and peppy. The ice cream was amazing. It had that old-fashioned ice cream taste. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the selection of candies were delicious and classic. I took my grandma and my mom. My grandma doesn't usually get out much, but she said she would return so I'm very happy. I found a place that she would actually like to go out and visit. I am lactose intolerant and happy to see that they serve non dairy ice cream which was a big plus. The owner Savvy made me a non dairy milkshake which was very delicious. TLDR; 5/5 ambiance, 4/5 ice cream, 3/5 service. On our way back from a day in Monterey, and we wanted to try garlic ice cream. So after a quick search, I called the shop ahead of time and the lady on the phone was very personable and confirmed that they indeed do sell garlic ice cream, but they keep it in the back room so we would have to specifically request it, and no free samples. This was all fine and well for us, and I was looking forward to meeting her after our friendly chat. Unfortunately, our ice cream server was not the same person I spoke with over the phone, but a younger male who was honestly quite rude to us. He was not very helpful when answering questions about the flavors and looked annoyed that he would have to go to the back when we asked to purchase a scoop of garlic ice cream. On the plus side, the vibe of the parlor was very cool and old-timey, a perfect fit for the surrounding downtown area. Garlic ice cream: Very garlicky but also satisfyingly sweet enough to not be overwhelming. Glad to have tried it once. Irish chip ice cream: Coffee ice cream with chips that wasn't too sweet as most classic ice cream parlors are. Waffle cone was standard, unfortunately not fresh. read more

We were really excited to visit Savvy's and had been looking forward to it for a while, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. When my family and I walked in, we were not greeted and felt confused about whether we should wait or order. There were only two customers seated and one employee working. After a few minutes, the first thing he said to us was, "You're my last customers, I have to take my break," and he brushed past us to flip the sign to CLOSED. While placing our order, the employee seemed very annoyed and repeatedly told us, "I don't have that," even though we were ordering directly from the menu. When we asked about the chocolate-dipped cheesecake we had seen online, he gave my mom a rude look and said they hadn't had it in months, as if we were supposed to know that. After we paid and sat down, he knocked loudly and aggressively and told us he had to kick us out because he was going on break and couldn't leave us inside. If that was the case, we should have been told upfront that our order was to-go only or asked to return after his break. To make matters worse, my nephew found a piece of plastic in his ice cream. Overall, the customer service was unwelcoming and unprofessional, and what was supposed to be a fun family outing ended with everyone feeling upset and disappointed. I was in down visiting my brother and his family he told me about this really cute candy shop . I had to check it out . Walking in we got greeted by Savvy she was so animated and welcoming love her energy. I asked her if they sold coffee she said no but I can make you one . She was kind enough to make me one from her stash lol . It was delicious by the way too . She also mentioned next time there's a really good coffee shop across the street, but it was closed at the time. I forgot to mention she also gave us samples of these cookies she had to all of us . She is just amazing. The inside is so 1950's it's decorated so vintage. It has a playing box for music Marilyn Monroe everywhere which I love her. I love everything about this shop . They offer candy , ice cream, and milkshakes . There is just so much to look at they offer chocolate truffles and more . This is definitely a place you must check out if you're in the area. The best sweets shop in Gilroy! This place is such a gem. My family visits often, but most recently we stopped in late, just before closing, and were so glad we did. The ice cream and milkshakes were delicious, and the candy selection was a fun bonus that got the kids even more excited. What really makes this spot stand out is the owner. She was incredibly friendly and immediately made us feel welcome. She took the time to explain how they make their sodas and milkshakes fresh, and she was an absolute delight to talk to. I went to Savvy's with my mom and what a disappointment. We told the lady the flavors that we wanted and she asked us to sit down while she scooped our ice cream, we didn't want to sit down but she insisted without a smile. We sat and waited, she brought the cones over and I got up to pay. For a plain cone with 1 regular scoop of bubble gum ice cream and a waffle cone with rocky road ice cream I paid $21.64 NEVER GOING BACK. It's a dim dark place, no smile with poor service. read more

I came in today with my son and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I love everything inside the old fashioned look. I got myself a waffle cone with two jumbo scoops of banana chocolate almond with the second scoop of cinnamon swirl. My goodness delicious. My son got a chocolate chip mint ice cream cone. The food and service was absolutely amazing. Let me start with the ice cream. I got the cookie dough ice cream and let me just say it was better than any cold stone or Baskin-Robbins type of ice cream. The best part about the place is that they have an option to serve your ice cream in a cool vintage glass. My aunt got a really yummy Sunday and there was a lot of fun flavors and options to choose from. Before we left the place we also bought some really yummy chocolates from them and they were absolutely amazing. Next is the service, it was absolutely amazing. One of the owners was there and she has the sweetest energy. She was super easy to talk and just amazing with the way she runs the place. A great retro candy, Malt/milkshake, soda and ice cream shop. The atmosphere is "cozy cluttered" with a focus on 50s Americana, and I've never had a bad experience or bad food here. Service is freindly and casual, and if Savvy herself is there she's always got a kind word and excellent taste in music. Highly recommend getting a drink "Parlor style" and hanging out for a while, there are games available. I'll be honest, I was skeptical of the cupcake at first because I've had many dry cupcakes in my past and have only liked one baker my whole life.
