I was told the shipping department was not there but I would get a call back. They never called back. I emailed and never heard from them. About a month after I placed my order I submitted a dispute with my bank. They issued a temporary credit. Then, I received part of my order a few days later, NOT the whole thing. This was I finally decided to pull over and check out this garlic stop on my way home. As a huge fan of garlic, I was ready to be impressed, but honestly, I wasn't excited by the selection. I was surprised that there wasn't a wider variety of unique garlic products. The Shopping Experience I originally had my eye on the garlic butter, but it was a bit too pricey. I was also really hoping to try some garlic ice cream, but they didn't seem to sell it here. I ended up grabbing some chocolate-covered nuts and a trail mix instead. The service in the store was disappointing. I wasn't acknowledged at all while browsing, and no one offered to help. To make matters worse, it seemed like there wasn't a restroom available for customers, which isn't ideal when you're stopping during a long drive. The BBQ Vendor I decided to grab some food from the vendor outside. The lady working the stand was incredibly kind and friendly--easily the best part of the stop! However, the food was a bit hit-or-miss: Garlic Bread: This was very good. Beans: These were just okay. BBQ: I didn't like it much. I might be spoiled by Southern BBQ, but this just didn't hit the mark for me. Pro Tip: Be careful getting back onto the freeway; the turn-off and merge can be a little tricky! As a garlic lover I was so happy to learn there was a shop dedicated to all things garlic! We were in town for the festival and decided to do some exploring and stumbled upon this place and boy did they have garlic everything! From pasta sauce to seasonings, hot sauces, and beyond! The perfect place for all your garlic needs. It was so hard to not buy the entire store. The man behind the counter seemed nice and helpful. It's actually also a winery if you're interested although we didn't end up checking it out. The location is off the highway which can present a bit of a challenge depending on the flow of traffic but other than that I think it was a great stop. It was great being able to stop by after passing it on the freeway so many times. It has a very cozy feel and a variety of products. No one really acknowledged me until checking out and proceeding to tell me to choose a different garlic pack since it was rotten. I didn't think much of it and it did seem pricey especially since the receipt didn't give me a break down of the prices for each product but I love garlic so I bought it anyway. I was beyond disappointed to find that BOTH garlic knot packs I purchased were completely rotten. This place is a Garlic shoppe and winery but didn't really see anyone tasting the wine. But maybe it's because it was the end of the day. This place did not leave a good first impression. The owner was rude but maybe he was having a bad day so I'll let it go. But his demeanor was terrible even on the phone. I was coming from Carmel and realized we'd pass by Gilroy on the way home and have been wanting to try Garlic ice cream. I called and when he answered I asked "is this garlic shoppe?" and he replied with "that's what I just said." Like my bad, the reception on the road was terrible so I wanted to confirm. I called to see what time they close because Yelp is sometimes wrong with store hours. The business hours list this place closing at 7 but I called at 6 and they said they close in 45 minutes. Thankfully we were going to reach in 30 but good thing we called because the 15 minutes difference could mean an open or closed store upon arrival. Anyways, limited parking spaces but they do have a port-a-potty on the side. The store itself has a lot of selection of sauces, condiments, beef jerky, and other items. As well as fruits. The garlic ice cream is from Marianne's, Santa Cruz based. So not local but it was surprisingly delicious! Just a subtle garlic taste. They had chocolate garlic ice cream and original. About $4 each. We also got Beefy Boys beef jerky (company is from Salinas) in the sweet garlic beef jerky flavor. A bit spicy and super tough. Not as soft and chewy as I like my jerkies. I wish they had more local products being sold. But their selection is great. My bf also got a garlic mozzarella dip and when he asked the elderly male (who I assume is the owner and the same person I talked with on the phone) how long the dip is good for (which is a very valid question) he replied with, "it's a dip. Not too long." I thought that was a bit rude and condescending. There are nicer ways he could've answered. Simply "a week at most" would've been fine. Anyways, I'm glad to finally try garlic ice cream from the garlic capital of the world, even though the ice cream is made in Santa Cruz. My first option to buy from was close so I went here and I'd probably come back if it was my last option. The store is well organized and very clean. The garlic is amazing every couple of months we will find an excuse to go on that direction, so I can stop by the store to buy their garlic. It is located in Gilroy so close to 2 hours from me but it's worth it. It seems to be family owned and they are very welcoming and attentive to their costumers. It had the three things people would expect from a place called garlic shoppe. 1. Dried whole garlic, 2. Garlic seasoning 3. Garlic ice cream. I do think they could have more variety of whole garlic. I did think it was a bit pricey but I imagine when it takes customers years to finally decide to stop you don't have the luxury of low prices and plus it's a specialty store. We normally we stop here as a break for our little one coming home to Monterey. Lately, we have noticed that their restroom indoors have not been working (3 months now) and they have a porta-potty which is usually not clean and gross. The highlight of this stop is the ability to feed a few cows, a horse and donkey hay & cherries. It's super fun for the kiddos. As for the store itself, it looks like it's seen better days. I lived in the Bay Area for more than a decade but somehow never stopped by a single garlic shop while passing through Gilroy. Now that I don't live around the area, stopping at a tourist spot like The Garlic Shoppe is a must. We stopped by on 12/19/2021. I don't know what I was expecting, but a bunch of random Norpro brand kitchen gadgets definitely wasn't what I thought would be all over the shop (and the other gralic tourist shops.) I definitely thought that there would be more garlic themed items like cookbooks, themed toys or t-shirts. Prices are STEEP. We're talking $29+ for granulated garlic in the plastic spice containers that you get at Walmart or Costco that hold about 3 cups of spices. Salsas, mustards, seasonings - a lot of it is $10+ for even small amounts. My husband bought a salsa that was like $8, forgetting that we couldn't bring it through TSA, so I opened it, dumped it over a bag of tortilla chips, and closed the bag of chips back up. That made it through security lol. My husband and I ended up getting a garlic + chocolate and a garlic + vanilla ice cream for $3 each. They come in those tiny containers with a wooden spoon. Honestly, it tasted different but good. I preferred the chocolate one. read more

5-28-21 a cool rustic stop. Spent $71 there on seasonings and items to take home as omiyage. There is a steady trickle of people entering the shop which is full of merchandise of all kinds. There is one woman visible in the cashier nook sitting. No greeting or roaming the store she sits and gets up when you are ready to pay. The garlic chips which look like whole cloves are like a popped version. The cashier told me you can eat it alone or with soup or as croutons. This place was on the way to Garlic Town and I skipped GT altogether because this place was so lovely. The woman who helped me walked me around and told me what to buy if I was gifting or buying for myself, etc. They have their own blend of spices which is slightly cheaper than the Garlic Festival brand and she said buy the cheaper ones, they cost less with the same ingredients. So grateful for that and not being upsold. Also for those that review places simply because their restrooms aren't working, that's not what this platform is for. We stopped here about noon on a Sunday while traveling through. We had planned to stop somewhere in Gilroy to pick up some flavorful spicy, garlic sauces and this was the one my wife recalled when we were traveling in the opposite direction on the highway. One of the sauces we were looking for is manufactured in Gilroy and called the Pepper Plant. They have several flavors and we had seen them while traveling in the area at some of the local restaurants. This shop had several of the Pepper Plant flavors and we purchased one of them. The prices felt a little high but where else are you going find a hot sauce called "Slap my a** and call me Sally"? We just had to get that one for an annual white elephant gift exchange. They also sell all kinds of sh!t (haha) aka seasonings from "Big Cock Ranch". They also sell hot sauce, chips, wine, cake mixes, and garlic flavored chips and nuts. Beware! The owner has two dogs on the property that bark incessantly. I visited for the first time with my service dog, presented the necessary service animal documents, yet the owner still refused us entry due to his dogs' nonstop barking. We stopped by here on our road trip back to OC. I meant to go to Garlic World but came here by mistake. They are located at the corner of the road when you exit the 101 at Monterey Rd. Upon entering the store, there was a female worker sitting at the front counter that seem uninterested and preoccupied on her computer. Another male employee came out from the back and also didn't greet any of the customers inside the store. The inventory of garlic products are decent. They have garlic seasonings, hot sauces, cooking oils, snacks etc. The store is a bit unorganized with the way they label the bulk garlic. The garlic bundles aren't that much better than in a retail grocery store. IMO the prices are more expensive and not worth it. As we were picking out the garlic, we encountered a rude customer telling us that it's COVID so don't touch the raw products. Dude, we sanitized our hands before touching anything. The 2nd one, I can't say was a whole lot better. The TP roll had fell on the floor of the port-a-potty). Ended up having to use a toilet seat covers to wipe. If I could have held it any longer, I would have. Felt like I needed to bathe my entire body in hand sanitizer when I walked out. So effing nasty. I mean, come on. The Garlic Shoppe (GS) has been a mainstay along Hwy 101 for well-over thirty years (1985) and is one of the OG garlic and specialty food vendors at the world famous Gilroy Garlic Festival. I've passed by GS dozens upon dozens of times and never stopped. Well, today was finally the day, as we needed some Pepper Plant® seasoning ($9.99) to send back to Carissa's son back in PA. GS has quite the selection of garlic infused goodies from mustards and mayos, to spice seasoning and rubs. They also have a fair amount of pickled olives and pickled garlic cloves. Some of their products are manufactured for/by them under their Garlic Shoppe® brand. Now this might all sound fantastic but here's my issue with GW: -Customer service was a bit off. I don't want to be mean this close to Xmas, so let's just leave it at that. -Prices are 20-30% higher than the other garlic inspired store (rhymes with Shmarlic Wurld) just a few hundred feet south. -No samples?! What kind of specialty food store doesn't have free samples?? Nothing sells one's product better than giving away a nibble. Just ask Costco®... Overall this place is probably 2.5-3* overall but the strange vibe and high prices will probably keep me from returning. Oh, and watch out when exiting the parking lot―it's very likely to catch a nail coming out of there. read more

Interesting little shop. Got us a few goodies. Tried the garlic ice cream. Just blew my brain away when tasting sweet garlicky ice cream. Tasted good except for occasional bite at the end due to the strong garlic. Could I suggest roasted garlic ice cream??? That would definitely take the bite away. My boyfriend and I stopped by The Garlic Shoppe after a long motorcycle ride. I honestly thought this was a store mock up for a business nearby but it actually is a cute little shop!
