What a great place to stop and stretch your legs and do a little shopping. I love garlic and we stopped here because we saw that it was super dog friendly. There was no issue with us taking our pup inside on leash and she even made a new friend (see photos). The shop is adorable. They have have lots of great gift ideas and unique items. They have some great sweets and snacks to choose from and I admit I probably went overboard. There are some cool memorabilia items in the back of this location that are not for sale, just on display and the store even sells their own swag. Iconic. There is also a mom and pop barbecue shop inside if you want to order hot food. All in all this was a really good stop especially if you are a garlic lover or you know one! read more

Passing through Gilroy, we decided how could we not stop to grab us some garlic goodness at garlic world. Inside is pretty much like a mini warehouse of all of the types of garlic infused items they have. Set up almost like a farmers market. They had everything from drinks to fruits and nuts, as well as the many items they have that are infused with garlic. I walked away with some garlic olive oil, garlic, stuffed olives, and a delicious garlic marinated pickle. They were super welcoming and friendly, and the price was not too much. Cute little stop in Gilroy (garlic Capital of the world) I've passed this so many ttimes wanting to stop and try the garlic ice cream. Well today was the day! I wasn't disappointed. It's definitely not the norm, but it's good. The sweetness cuts the sting of the garlic but the flavor is there just not overpowering. I wouldn't eat this on the daily, but I definitely will stop for this treat again next time I pass through. We also purchased some garlic olives. Can't wait to try those. This place has such a great selection of everything garlic. Not a garlic lover? No worries, there's a great variety of snacks for you too. I recommend making this a stop if you're in the area. We stopped by Garlic World on the way home from a road trip to Monterey. Needed an emergency restroom break for one of our boys, so we zoomed right in because of afternoon traffic on the 101. Clean Restrooms and friendly service. Loved that we got to explore and look at all the yummy goodies. They had some interesting chip flavors, candies, spices, rubs, cold drinks and wine selection. Some fresh fruit produce, black garlic honey and many more! I was definitely tempted to buy a huge bundle of garlic. But instead we settled for some Garlic Ice Cream. Gotta try it...it's pretty good. I discovered garlic gator toes here and now my life is forever changed. I got the parm, hot, extra hot, and chili lime. I absolutely love garlic so this is strictly for garlic lovers. For sure a tourist stop, especially if you're in the area for Gilroy Gardens or any other garlic related activities (surprisingly not as many as I would think). They have an American BBQ here too, but they're only open on weekends. There's produce available, lots of candies and trail mix, hot sauces, garlic oil, dried garlic, garlic snacks, and of course, the must try garlic ice cream! We got the vanilla garlic ice cream and it is not too sweet, tastes heavily of vanilla with some slight garlic taste to it afterwards. Unique and not bad! There's also some miscellaneous home goods and gifts such as candles, lotions, stationery, etc. The neatest thing that they have is also the longest garlic braid, spanning 216 feet! Great place to stop by on the way to SF! Much easier to get to this spot when driving north. If you are coming southbound then it's a whole detour (I'm speaking from experience). Honestly, this shop exceeded my expectations. I purchased two garlic olive oils ($15.99 each), a tee shirt ($25), figs ($9), icecream, and a gatorade. This place is a bit overpriced, my bill came out to $75. Tons of garlic goods. Some not local. You'll find varieties of hot sauces, oils, pickled garlics, jams, with or without garlic flavor. I loved stopping by Garlic World over the summer as I visited all of the CA Missions. So many great garlic-y items! I got some spicy garlic pickles and they were tasty. I also picked up some garlic green olives, which I will give her for Christmas. They also have different candies and nuts, and sauces available as well. Passing by Gilroy on our way to Yosemite, my mom wanted to buy their famous garlic so we stopped by and explored this place. They had various sauces, produces, and of course, garlic related products including garlic ice cream. Inside the market, they don't only have a small BBQ restaurant but also coffee bar, which was fascinating. It seemed like they had everything. The clerks were very helpful finding the products and friendly carrying conversations. If they didn't have the item that we were looking for, they were very apologetic and searched online to order it for us. Also, if we wanted a smaller amount, they packaged it to fit our need, which was nice. Looked like everybody who worked there were so happy. Stopped by Garlic World in Gilroy March 9th, for the first time and had a great experience! The store is clean inside and outside and well-organized, making it a pleasant place to browse all the amazing garlic-themed products. From fresh garlic and garlic seasoning to unique sauces and snacks, they have something for every garlic lover. There also fresh produce, dried fruit, nuts, chocolate and Wine with competitive pricing. What really stood out was the excellent teamwork of the two young salespeople working that day. They were not only friendly and helpful but also very dedicated, taking turns cleaning and still taking the time to assist customers while smiling & looking very presentable. It's always great to see employees who genuinely care about the place they work in! If you're driving through Gilroy this spot is worth a visit, great selection, great service, and a great atmosphere. There is also a place to take pictures in the garlic capital of the world. The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association was selling their classic garlic bread this past Saturday at an event nearby, so while in the area picking up a loaf, we couldn't resist making a stop at Garlic World. After browsing the store and receiving helpful service from the employees, we got a large bottle of San Simeon Paso Robles Merlot (there was a limited selection of wine available), garlic chips, sun-dried tomatoes, a jar of minced garlic, and some pricey black garlic ($8 for one bulb). In fact, most items were overpriced for what you get... but at least the quality and variety of products in the shop was good, including fresh produce, nuts, and novelty gifts/kitchen items. There was also bbq for sale this past Sunday (ribs, chicken, tri tip, and pulled pork), and some outdoor seating available adjacent to the parking lot. I love Garlic World!!! I've been coming here for years. It's definitely one of those roadside stops along highway 101 that you must stop at. They have a huge garlic world sign that's very eye catching and in the front of the store they have some cute garlic photo ops. This store offers a variety of specialty items such as dried fruits, nuts, candy, condiments and they also have a bbq restaurant inside called Mike's Backyard BBQ. You can see the big smoker out in the front of the store, very good food. If you walk to the back of the store that is garlic paradise as they have so many jars of different types of garlic, as well as seasonings from Mansmith's to the Garlic Festival. They have a nice variety of garlic salsas and condiments. Even garlic olive oils and balsamic vinegars.They used to have racks of specialty hot sauces but they no longer carry them and before the pandemic they also had free samples of garlic stuffed olives. Although they do not provide the free samples of the olives do they sell them by the jar. One specialty item that they do have that you can't get anywhere else is garlic ice cream made by the famous Marianne's Ice Cream based out of Santa Cruz. Garlic World is definitely a must stop shop and you will find some unique items in there, I highly recommending stopping by when traveling along the 101! read more

Garlic ice cream was something different which i had never heard of before so I grabbed a cup of it. Basically I felt like eating a vanilla ice cream with a hint of garlic at the end. What better place to try garlic ice cream than Garlic World in Gilroy? I wanted the full garlic experience, so I got vanilla-garlic (as opposed to chocolate-garlic). The pre-packaged ice creams are pretty small, but honestly it was big enough. Don't think I'll be having garlic ice cream again, but it was definitely an experience ... of flavors in my mouth. The small waist-high ice cream fridge is a small portion of the store, which has dried fruit, nuts, jams, sauces, garlic cloves, and tons of jars of garlic. If you want garlic ice cream, it's a penny cheaper here. Tortilla chips are $2 cheaper here, so my husband and I bought a bag here to go with our salsa on 12/19/2021. Wanted to try garlic ice cream while passing through Gilroy and decided to visit Garlic World after seeing it as the main location offering garlic ice cream on Yelp. I was hoping to see more garlic products given the name of the store. There were a lot of other produce and pricey dry fruits and candy instead. They had garlic olive oil from the Garlic Festival though which is a plus. I tried the garlic ice cream which is produced by Marianne's Ice Cream in Santa Cruz. There's also a chocolate garlic ice cream available. The portion of ice cream is quite small for the price (at least $3 or $4 for 5 oz). However, I appreciate that the ice cream was manufactured locally. Additionally, the popularity/reputation of Marianne's Ice Cream and my desire torying garlic ice cream in Gilroy helped justify the price. The ice cream was smooth and savory. I enjoyed the savory hints of garlic paired with the sweet vanilla. I'd recommend stopping to try the garlic ice cream if you enjoy garlic and are interested in the unique experience. There's also a Gilroy stand for fun photo opportunities outside the store -- great for tourists! read more

Back in Mar 2022, I was on a West Coast road trip from CA to OR to WA. On my way back home, I dropped by Garlic World in Gilroy. I haven't been back here for almost over 2 decades until this year LOL. Glad they are still in business. It's a great good size, organized, and clean store with tons of different snacks not just garlic stuff. I picked up some big cloves of garlic, garlic corn nuts, garlic and kettle popcorns, garlic ice cream both vanilla and chocolate... surprisingly, chocolate was better than vanilla, red licorice, dried figs, turkey jerky... there may have been a few other items, I just don't remember. Everything was good except for the garlic corn nuts and turkey jerky... nuts too garlicky and jerky not flavorful to my liking LOL. The gentleman who was at the cash register was very pleasant and helpful. I think he was the son of the owner or he may have been the owner who took over the family business. Very nice guy. It is as described, a bus stop. We came in a car and felt like we were missing something. The place was empty. Another family came right before us. They have all you garlic needs. Garlic $3.99/lb, elephant garlic $4.99/lb (very impressive), garlic braids, garlic in bulk, candy, nuts, sauces, rubs, ice cream (small container, no tasting. The place is clean and large. They have parking and bathrooms. There is a dog relief area at the other end of the parking lot. They have a bbq open on some weekends. Not the next 2 weekends as the sign says, I'd call ahead. The bathrooms are odd for a bus stop. There is only 1 private bathroom. That can cause congestion. I was disappointed that there wan't any food. If you are looking for gifts, this is the place. If you drive by, like we did, stop, it can't hurt. read more
