This place is simply adorable. I stopped in Christmas shopping for my parents last December, and if you cook at all or know anyone who does it's impossible to not fall in love. Wide selection of spices and salts. The owner knows his stuff and it's fantastic to get his suggestions and thoughts on the spices and their own great mixes. Sooo many wonderful scents and flavors, this place is a joy. Need to spice up eggs for breakfast? He's got just what you need. Grilling something on a summer night? Go here. Nice wood floors. The shop somewhat reminds me of an old spice house in Milwaukee that my mother took me to as a kid. Generally very helpful and knowledgeable, sometimes the service has been bad. I don't get it, but one person in particular is just not in the right job - customer facing doesn't seem to be a good fit. But just the salt selection makes up for it, let alone the extraordinary peppers nearby. Sample any of them, just speak with the staff about which bottles. read more

I have been coming to this shop since it opened. However, my last visit left me feeling unwelcome. When I asked a new female employee about the birthday bonus that they offer, she became defensive and abruptly pointed to where the birthday spice blends are. Acted like I was trying to get away with something. I also wanted to purchase one of my favorite spice blends, but she was now ignoring me, and would not help me. A young woman, who was most pleasant and cheerful checked me out at the register. I will make a point of not going to the shop when this unpleasant person is there. read more

Savory Spice is one of those stores I can hardly believe I'm lucky enough to have in my neighborhood. The vast selection, very high quality, and low price of the spices is really out of this world. I still have a hard time just walking past without stopping in to bring home a new flavor--mango powder, pickled lemons, and tomato powder have all made my cooking more nuanced recently. Their house blends are also outstanding, especially their curries. On top of that, I've only had good experiences with the staff, who have given me some transformative cooking tips (for instance, in Indian cooking, fry the main spices in coconut cream before adding the meat and vegetables). Definitely don't hesitate to try them out. You can purchase spices in bulk for much less than you would pay for a little, relatively tasteless bottle from the grocery store, and sample nearly everything. read more

Dan is always attentive, so much so that he pulled away from a meeting he was having yesterday to meet my 2y.o. and friends from out of town that I brought to the store. The name of the store says it all. This store has every spice imaginable. I went to the store in search of a couple of spices to add heat to a recipe of mine. When I went into the store the staff were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They were able to point out a couple of spices that I had not even considered. I love this store! They have over 500 different products and they are all reasonably priced, particularly for a specialty shop. I was pleasantly surprised. They also offer programs such as 'trade in an old bottle, get $1 off' and 'spice of the month' club to stretch your dollars further. The store is laid out quite well, making it a browser's paradise. Plan some time, and go next door to Oliverde too. There are great gift packages--we first were introduced to their spices when we received a set as a gift. We got the CO 14ers and Front Range sets and used them ALL. I'm hooked. They have a great patio out back for events too, and I see that they are teaming up with folks to do health seminars and such. Oh my god, I love this place. it has almost all the spices one would need . I love their Indian spices- Rogangosh to be exact. I know it is a chain of stores but you feel like it's the only store the way that their employees treat you when you come in. It's hard to believe that someone would give this place less than 5 stars. They have just about every spice under the sun. I find the 2 star review highly pretentious and very unhelpful, as most people will not need Catalonia smoked paprika, and I tried their smoked paprika, and as a foodie I can say it's neither stale or bitter. It's quite perfect, actually. Their selection is unmatched by anything else in the great state of Colorado, they are HIGHLY AFFORDABLE compared to any bulk spice in local health food stores, their blends are wonderful with fun local names. The owner is always there, working hard, I even went in accidentally after closing ,they stayed there for me and were super friendly and very helpful. Whenever I want to make something exotic, they have the right suggestions and it is also a very good place to bring out of town visitors. It's a very unique store in every respect.
