That changed the second the bill arrived. Buried into the check was a 7% "kitchen surcharge." In other words, the restaurant decided to pass along kitchen payroll costs directly onto the customer without being upfront about it. If you're not paying close attention, you could easily end up tipping on top of that surcharge as well, essentially paying an extra hidden fee without realizing it. At a restaurant positioning itself as upscale and classy, this came across as incredibly tacky and cheap. Pay your staff properly and price your menu accordingly instead of sneaking surprise fees onto the bill at the very end. That's not hospitality. That's the kind of nickel and diming people expect from budget airlines, not a supposedly high end dining experience. It completely ruined what had otherwise been a nice night. We were seriously considering coming back before this happened. Now we won't return.

The offerings are fresh and often local as well (honey, hot sauces, and crackers to name a few). They have nice rewards (in particular the birthday month reward), as well as offer discounts to folks that work in downtown Boulder. Some of my fave products purchased at this location are Brooklyn Everything Bagel Blend, their Seed Ranch Umami Reserve hot sauce, and Old Mill Pizza Sprinkle. Getting there is quite easy as well as they are just a couple blocks from the bus station and located directly next to a parking garage (free parking Sat & Sun). If visiting isn't on your agenda no worries, you can order your faves directly on their website. It's a great idea to drop in anytime you are downtown.
