Reviewing for non Italian menu under new owners. We did not expect such an amazing culinary find in Langley. Yes, most would say Savory is a bit spendy but for the superb dining experience, it's so worth it! It' s small plates style menu ranging in the $13-22 range with a few entrees in the $38 range. Mindfully crafted and chef quality dishes with a generous wine list to pair. All we can say is, it was the most delectable and mind-blowingly flavorful farm to table fine dining experience one can find here in this dinky little town. Simple yet elegant with good flavors. Savory is the perfect description. The service and ambiance were spot on. It was so cozy and relaxing.. we sat on cushy armchairs in a tiny tiny restaurant with four tables for two and one other that seats 4 and another that seats snugly 6. We were in what I thought the worst table (smack dab in the middle) but later realized we still felt like we had privacy and couldn't overhear others' convo. I got a pretty nice view of the water and the chef calmly cranking out amazing dishes one by one. Being it was a Friday night, there were multiple couples that came after the table after us sadly to be met with having to be put on a 30-60 minutes call back wait list. There was only the server and chef on duty. No sous chef, no assistants...I think everyone was ok to be patient and wait. I was secretly happy they care so much about offering quality food and service. The artichoke and kebabs were delish but our favs were the carrots and the salmon. Expertly cooked to PERFECTION. Will leave it at that. You have to just experience for yourselves... it's a take your time and savor finely prepared food and libations..and def not a gorge yourself with large quantity type of a place. Can't wait to go back!

They don't take reservations so we decided to dine early. We were seated and given water and a limited selection menu. The server told us the portions were large enough to share. Their portions were bird food size and not enough to share. We had their special salad which was tough as rubber kale salad with a Caesar type dressing. For the main course we ordered their bolognese which was quite flavorful. The bread we ordered was called fluffy bread which was pre buttered but it came with neither extra butter nor oil. Their wine selection was very limited since they were out of most wines. The wines they offered weren't that good. We heard that the restaurant had recently sold. It wasn't the quality of caliber of our experience last year. Such a disappointing experience since last year was so much better.

I would give this a 4.5 if possible but I like to err on the side of positivity. The service here was great and the staff was super friendly. I came here on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm with my boyfriend and 2 dogs and we were seated on the patio. I ordered the carbonara and my boyfriend got the black cod. I enjoyed the carbonara but it wasn't as eggy as I would have liked, and I thought the price was a little steep ($28). I also tried the black cod, which was cooked well but I thought could have been a bit more flavorful, and it was also pretty expensive (~$35, don't remember exact amount). My boyfriend however liked it the way it was. The bread was hot and fresh and the butter was soft and perfectly spreadable. Overall I would say the food was about a 4, 4.5 but the service and ambiance was great!

Recently, my husband and I were in Langley for the first time and went to Savory for our last dinner on Whidbey Island. We got there right at 4:00, when they opened, which I recommend, because they get busy quickly--for good reason. Our meals were delicious! They were unlike any pork loin or calamari we had eaten. Additionally, the wait staff was amazing! They took our pictures (we were obviously tourists), chatted with us, and we're generally very attentive. We were so impressed with the entire experience and would recommend visiting to anyone visiting Langley.

Great view of the water, we saw some orcas when we were having dinner. Caesar salad was great, the homemade dressing was excellent. Short ribs were perfect and was served with mashed potatoes. Service- excellent Wine selection- good variety

Cassoulet

This restaurant just charmed the hell out of my wife and I tonight. The waitstaff were wonderful, maybe too polite, but in a way that really suits the place. We had a delicious meal that started with a garlic spread on crostini, followed by the pappardelle and cassoulet (pictured). The garlic bread with the slow cooked cassoulet was to die for. We finished the night with a Madeira dessert wine by Rare Wine Cellars. The vibe of this place was perfect for the sleepy town of Langley...it would be an overcrowded mess in a more populated place, and here it can hide as a hidden gem for all who venture out this far. And trust me, there should be people coming out here just to eat at this place!

Still our favorite go-to date night dinner spot! Finally tried the carbonara (couldn't stop ordering the short ribs, so dang tender) and it's incredible. Love the wine list and we always like to end with the chocolate cake!

They may have to forcibly remove me from this spot...... We try and come up once every other year or so and they apparently opened just 6 weeks ago. The gentlemen running it were so friendly and welcoming. We sat outside in the sun next to the fire-that-shall-not-be-lit and just had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary. Opening a restaurant is not easy and to get everything just right so soon was a testament to the passion of the owners. So how about the food? In a word, fan-freaking-tastic. We had the salmon with a glaze that clearly contained a schedule one prohibited substance (it was that good) and my wife had a lovely salad. Followed that up with an awesome cheese plate (mimolette for the win!) and garlic bread for two. (Pro-tip for you lovebirds, if you both have garlic breath, no one has garlic breath). All in all just a great spot! Can't wait to come back and have another round of wine and good food. No zoom required!

Salmon Louie

Ah-mazing! The ambiance, staff and the food just terrific! We ordered a bottle of wine and the smoked salmon appetizer to start our evening meal. Holy cow the smoked salmon is to die for! Unfortunately you won't get a picture of that because it really didn't last long on our table! I was really hoping there could be free refills on the salmon. For dinner we both ordered the special, salmon Louie since it was so hot out. This salad didn't disappoint. The mixed lettuce, tomato, corn, roasted red pepper, pea shoots and so many other yummy things were so fresh and crisp. And again the salmon...delicious! The dressing tasted like it was made fresh in house! I just can't say enough about how good it was. We also ordered a baguette with butter. Yum! You have to check this place out! Totally worth it!

Not great. Slow service. Would not return. The best thing there was the bread but it was from Sea biscuit Bakery.

Service was excellent and support staff for waiters/waitresses is very attentive. We took the Coupeville to Port Townsend ferry over as walk ons to save the $30 on car passage we didn't need. Short 1/2 mile walk across from the historic Rose Theater. Dinner was fabulous with me ordering the saltabucca with polenta. Big chicken breast wrapped in aged ham with a ton of polenta and green beans. The other three guests had the cioppino with various seafoods and they thought it was delicious. Great Valentine's Day dinner with friends. You have two hours to eat before your 20 minute brisk walk back to the ferry for your return to Whidbey Island. Calm Sailing!

My friend and I both had a lasagna dinner (that did not come with anything (no salad no side, nothing) and water and our bill was 72.00. Slow and below average service. The woman serving us seemed flippant and cold. I don't need my butt kissed but pleasantries would be nice. She barely checked on us and we saw her a total of 3 times. Once to take our order, once to deliver the food, and lastly to drop off the check. No refills on drinks, or to ask how our food was. We asked for some bread to hold us over before our meal arrived and she said it was in the oven. We ended up getting the bread after we received our meal, and it was just bland and meh. For the expensive prices, I would expect better service.

First, the couscous is not the usual couscous we've all had. This is Lebanese couscous, which is so different as to be unrecognizable as "couscous". It is so very good, I could have a whole meal of that and be happy. I generally prefer baked falafels, but this fried one was great; crispy on the outside, and soft and green on the inside. I've avoided dolma in the past, as I had it once years ago and it was terrible. But this dolma was good enough for me to stop avoiding it in the future. People were very nice, and it took less than 10 minutes for my order to be ready. It's a grocery store with a deep selection of many items, such as spices, pastas, canned fish, .... (see photos). I enjoyed this enough, I came back again about a week later for another Sampler Plate meal. My only slight peeves are, I wish there were a bit more to the salad (which isn't even listed as one of the sampler items, so a bit hard to complain!), and that the pita had some whole grains in it (I find white wheat boring).

Finally some amazing Mediterranean food!…read more We moved to the PNW from SoCal about 4 years ago and it has been so hard to find good Mediterranean food! There was a spot in Cap Hill that we used to love to order takeout from, but we live in White Center now and that is just too far. We decided to give this place a shot and we were so glad we were. The ambiance is great! Quaint, nice and colorful, and the service was so great! Our server (forgot her name but I think it started with a Z?) was super attentive, made some great recommendations and was so friendly. I always say I go to a place for good food, I go back because of the service. We had the sampler appetizer which was delicious and everything tasted so fresh. For entrees we each ordered the Mesopotamian lamb and beef with the basmati rice. Everything was excellent! The entree tasted so comforting like a grandma made it. And the simple side salad that came with it, that dressing I could eat just straight! Note, this is Turkish style Mediterranean food so you won't see the same style as say a Greek or a Lebanese style restaurant, but it was still fantastic! Note, the wine list was so different! Nothing from the US (which I'm okay with). I had the Portuguese vinho verde and it was nice and crisp and everything that I want in a vinho verde. I can't wait to come back to this place.

Shawarma Time is one of the few places in the PNW that makes chicken shawarma sandwiches in the…read moretraditional Lebanese-style - with bread, toum, chicken, and pickles. No tomato. No lettuce. No cucumber, no other filler like all the "Mediterranean" Middle-Eastern/Greek fusion restaurants that permeate the area. As an additional sign of authenticity - they serve complementary warm sweet black tea! I believe they also only serve bottle water, which they charge for (it might surprise people, but this is yet another mark of authenticity). I've been looking for a place like this ever since moving here from Dearborn, MI! Walking in for a weekday lunch, I saw several people come in for takeout orders, but I was the only person eating in. Chicken Shawarma Wrap ($12.95) - This is a traditionally made chicken shawarma wrap, consisting of only chicken shawarma, pickles, and toum wrapped up in bread. The bread in this case is saj, a thin almost flour tortilla-like bread. It's not quite as pliable as a tortilla, instead enveloping all the ingredients in a warm coating. The menu lists this as "fresh baked" but that's definitely a misnomer. It's more factory produced, possibly weeks ago, given the heavy dough conditioner and preservative taste. The saj is what I disliked about this shawarma sandwich the most. They give a substantial portion of chicken, more than enough protein to satisfy. The seasoning blend they use is sublime, it's earthy and warm, savory and salty, and it brings me right back to Dearborn. The meat is freshly shaved off the spit with an electric shaver (rather than by knife as the traditionalists would do it). It's not particularly moist, but isn't dried out either. They don't add enough toum in the sandwich to overcome this deficiency - it's applied in a thin layer that's barely noticeable inside. Luckily they serve a small cup of toum on the side that's enough for the sandwich - if only they added it inside instead of being essentially a dip! The toum itself is a higher tier one for my tastes. It's heavily garlicky, almost having a pungent sweaty kind of aroma. There doesn't seem to be too much filler at all inside, and while the spiciness is tempered, the garlic is full flavored. The consistency more resembles a paste than a sauce - my preference is to be even more paste-like than this, but the toum here is still great. There are a couple of pickles inside giving some acidity and a slightly crisp bite. Again, they don't add too much of it - I'm actually used to more pickle and less meat in shawarma sandwiches. The entire wrap is pressed and warmed, enough to get some of the saj to develop a crackly crispy edge. The sandwich is served with a couple of olives and two strange orange colored pickles. Super salty and slightly acidic, but somewhat floppy. (5/5) Shawarma Time serves some of the most authentic shawarma that I've found in the Seattle Metro. People who are used to Mediterranean Gyro-fusion shawarma might not enjoy the kind of service and amenities Shawarma Time provides, but for me, I'll definitely be visiting again for more.
