Updating because I just do not get it. They hired a new jewelry person and they are pricing things WAY TOO HIGH. I went in today and saw a brooch with almost all the rhinestones missing, priced at $24.99. I asked the jewelry person if there's any way they could give me a better price because of the missing stones, and she said "no because someone will buy that just for the silver." What she doesn't understand is that 1.) sterling isn't worth all THAT much--it's not gold; and 2.) that brooch was made of MAYBE 2 grams of sterling, which would be worth about $2. I mean, this woman was putting regular old beat-up Alex & Ani bracelets in the locked case....I'm not normally able to make it to this Savers during the work day, but I made time for it today because I wanted to see who was doing this. I've spoken to the manager about the jewelry pricing and he said he agreed and that management was planning on speaking to her about prices being too high....that was at the end of January....i mentioned it again and he basically said they were trying to convince her to lower the prices. Convince her?!? She's an employee. Am I crazy, or should she do what management tells her to do......?! Also: I have seen almost ZERO gold/gold-plated/gold-filled jewelry in the case since the new year when she started. That leads me to believe that whatever gold is coming in is getting "lost"...... It's no wonder I've seen the same jewelry in the case for over a month. Their jewelry sales must not be great now, and I bet they have TONS of jewelry just piling up and piling up and piling up. It's a real shame that people who can't afford to buy decent jewelry new can't even afford it used now. I miss the last jewelry lady--she didn't give the jewelry away, but she also understood the importance of providing treasures that make the hunt worthwhile. read more

This is about a young lady working at savers on the 31st of January. My husband brought bags of stuffed animals to donate one of which my daughter wanted to keep. Expect to pay at least $13 or more on anything newer or of nicer quality. Jeans are all outrageously priced, and so are the tops. I don't think I found one top under $6.99. At this point it's not even thrifting anymore. They run on donations, so they're getting all the profit excluding paying their workers and electricity for the buildings. They should not be charging the way that they are and have been!! I'd love to see a change because I don't want to start looking for other thrift options, but I will soon. They charged almost $4 for a literal rock?! My last trip here I got 4 shirts and 2 little homedecor figurines and it cost $50 all together because the cents they add on adds up! read more

My girlfriend and I recently drove up to Worcester, MA from New York to visit one of her very good friends and to see the house she and her fiancé just bought. Needless to say, as soon as we arrived in Worcester I quickly dumped her off at her friend's house and immediately peeled the F out so that I wouldn't waste a single minute that could be spent gettin' at that Worcester thrift store trash. My first stop was this Savers location and while I normally find Savers to be a bit lackluster in terms of variety and a bit too bright and clean, this one had a decidedly dumpier vibe to it. I was into it. I started with the housewares and general merchandise and worked my way toward the books and records and found a treasure trove of rusty golf clubs, busted up grimy furniture, old lamps and chipped porcelain cat statues and as always the book selection was well-organized with a wide range of titles. Found a few decent books on art and one on avante-garde modernist composers from the 1920s. But what really stood out about this Savers was the clothing section. I snagged a couple ugly button ups, some t-shirts and an exquisitely hideous seafoam green banded bottom polo, with a hardened food stain on the front to boot! In the end, would I say it was worth it to be a total POS and ditch my friends just to find a "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" t-shirt and a crusty old 1960s paperback on Arnold Schoenberg and Igor Stravinsky? No, of course not. But yes it totally was. read more

I an a disabled person I have ptsd and have a registered and trained service dog I was shopping at this store and approached by a person saying he was the store manager and dogs were not allowed in his store. I asked him if he could read and pointed to the service vest and he laughed. I then showed him his registration tag and numbers and he said, well your dog barked. He did but he was alerting me of my ptsd state. I was then inred the process of leaving the store anyway when he stopped me. He the said, We don't allow comfort dogs here. So I left not to make the issue worse. This is a complete violation of the civil rights disabilities act. The managers name was John. This was the Savers at the Plaza on Lincoln Street. I tried to call cooperate I Washington but kept getting recordings and couldn't get through to anyone . At the very end of my stay he proceeded to follow me out the door and antagonize me. read more

Way too expensive. I will not be shopping here anymore until prices go down. It's disappointing to dig through the racks for hours to find only a few good things, and they're outrageously priced. Savers gets their merchandise by free donations from the public, so they can afford to lower the prices. I will be finding cheaper thrift stores to donate and shop at. read more

Found a few pretty good deals on dinner wear but the clothes here isn't too good. Staff are super rude and I was here one time an hour before closing time and the employee told me I need to leave because they're trying to sweep and if we stay until close they'll have to stay late and they don't want to. There was only about 20 of us in the store read more

Savers is a FOR-PROFIT business, and the only people they benefit are the owners ,not the poor. Bring your clothing to a humanitarian organization instead. Not a for-profit business. The word "donate" implies that your goods will go to those in need and they know it. That is not the case here. read more

I can spend hours in this place. I leave no item unturned. Sure wish there was a Savers closer to my home in Maine.

I thought Savers in Worcester was well organized and I found a few nice items at a great price. Friendly and helpful employees. Unfortunately, I found the bathroom truly disgusting. The employees stated that they can barely keep up with cleaning it. It's unfortunate that some customers are so inconsiderate. read more

I will admit I have never been to a thrift store until recently but am now a convert. It was very clean and well merchandised. The staff is very friendly and quite helpful. Most recently, we were there on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty busy, yet easy to get around. Employees were easy to spot. No long lines and checkout was painless. read more

Found a surprising amount of cute t shirts here. Seems as a lot of clothes here go unnoticed, but definitely are hidden gems. Items seemed clean and washed (most smelled of detergent). Store was messy and slightly unorganized, but could navigate the space well enough. Fitting rooms had a 6 item limit, but during slow hours workers didn't seem to care about how many items were brought in. Checking out took about 20 minutes even though no one was in line. There were two cashiers working and one was attending her kids and the other was speaking to her friend. It took 10 minutes to get called up to the register (again in spite of there being no line) and another 10 minutes to get rung up while the cashier was talking to various people. Overall a positive shopping experience, even with the terrible service and would come back again. read more

There is nothing thrifty about Savers. I used to shop here for fun and come away with armloads of finds. Now though, I'm more likely to leave the store grumpy and empty handed. No dressing rooms, no returns (exchange only), self checkout (ugh), for-profit, and EXTREMELY over-priced. Take your donations and your hard-earned money elsewhere. read more

This was my first time in the store. It is an old building, but the interior was clean. The merchandise was well organized. It was easy to find the areas you needed quickly. My cashier was friendly and efficient. Pricing, however, was high. Other than Connecticut, these are the highest prices on used goods east of the Mississippi. If you live locally, it may be the best you can do. Frankly, I'd rather shop eBay and get better deals. Bottom line: The store is clean and well organized. Probably the worst thrift store in the entire area. Limited selection for men that never gets rotated out, and if you happen to find the one clothing item that's actually worth buying, the insane price tag will make you put it back immediately. There was a decent, lightly worn Adidas windbreaker priced at $19.99. Honestly that's probably retail price for some of their new windbreakers. Just disappointing all around. read more

There was nice stuff, but the women's restroom had poop everywhere, and I could barely breathe inside. When I got out-I was so nauseous from the poop smelling bathroom I had to leave. Overall, until you clean the stalls, I will not be doing ANY business here. read more

I'm an avid thrifter & lover of Savers. This store however, could really use some help. Granted their selection wasn't as good as the one back in Virginia but that wasn't the issue. They only had two cashiers open on a 25% off senior day both with really long lines & they were extremely extremely slow. One cashier didn't give a lady her discount so she had to void & completely re-ring up her mound of clothes. So frustrating after 15-20 minutes I was finally rung up & home free. We have always taken our donations to Savers , as we have more high end donations than usual for Goodwill, and I always appreciate how Savers helps you unload. The workers have always been polite and friendly . However, on Sunday, November 8, the person working on unloading called me "honey" and tossed carefully packed items through the air. He was very dismissive of my questions. I won't go to Savers again - back to Goodwill. read more

Disappointed by the drop-off help. The person was kind of lazy so basically said everything in the car was old....I guess the price tags still have to be on the items. Went home unloaded items- put a free sign on them at the street and articles were gone in about an hour. Trying to do a good deed but just did not work out. I've tried to drop off a few things and they never seem to take them I understand but I was not happy with the way the kid yelled out to my father as we were at the car "we don't take junk!" And pursued to threaten my father. They're very unprofessional and rude every time I've come & I'm not one to usually write reviews. He also called my father a "meth head" and a "crackhead" I don't know where that came from but it was pretty immature and clearly inaccurate. You don't threaten customers and they may want to rethink they're hiring process. They have Barbie dolls with dirt all over them, shoes & blankets with stains and the smell in there is unbearable. Must make that employee feel right at home! So if you see a young guy outside as skinny as the junkie he is with dark hair I wouldn't waste my time. read more

Pretty typical thrift store. Decent products with moderate prices. Some of the places i go are higher so i would call this place expensive. I also would call this place cheap. If your willing to look for the diamond in the rough it's worth a shot. Pretty clean and organized. read more

This location can use a lot of internal and external improvements. First, the staff are not the friendliest and the cashing out process can be long and exhausting. The merchandise is whatever is left after (internally) it's picked through. I remember when it first opened up. You could buy DVD's, Cd', vhs and records for cheap, now they put things in glass cases and charge ebay prices. The housewares used to be good sets of dinnerware or complete sets of great glasses, now all you see are Walmart branded stuff for similar prices. Clothes are overpriced, imagine buying a pair of used jeans for $29.99 at a local thrift store. Most of the furniture is old and broken, not like 5 years ago when you could find a cool vintage table or chair. That stuff does not make it out to the showroom anymore. I also notice people standing outside the donation door (with an employee) waiting for donations to come in and getting the best of the stuff (before it makes it in the store). I've seen an old man (must be a flea market dealer) just sitting there outside and the kid working the door, putting items to the side, not actually into the store (that always looked kind of strange to me). Also, the toy section is a complete and utter mess. Broken toys and ripped opened bags makes for navigating the back area difficult (eventhough they state children need to be watched by an adult). Before, I used to buy great board games (complete), now the selection is pitiful and at one point the board games were missing all the important pieces (monopolies without tokens, etc.). And don't get me started on the glass cases. Everything in the glass cases (mind you this is donated stuff) was priced for online retail (check ebay), a store employee even told me that they have someone in the back scanning and checking every item online to get the most money for it. That's if it even makes its way out. Since this stuff is dropped off and no actual inventory is taken, then it's incredibly easy to take it out of someone's trunk and stick it in yours. So my overall feeling is this store needs more honest management or the employees should be held to a higher standard. Everything should be put out on the showroom floor, and let employees shop on their days off only, not from the back of someone's car. Also, remember this is a thrift store in the middle of Worcester, not Beverly Hills, so enough with the sky-high prices. I hope that the corporate executives look into the downward trend of quality goods and the ballooning prices at these stores and bring it back to how it was when they first started. But this is America and greed for lack of a better word is good. For them not us (the shopper). read more

Some good bargains to be had here, though you have to look carefully at the merchandise. Too much of it has missing pieces; is dirty, stained, or torn; or the size is mismarked. The return policy is really inadequate, too: you only have seven days to return an item, so make sure you try everything on and check it over carefully before leaving the store. I've scored some great finds, but I've also gotten burned more than a few times. read more

I've always had a good word to say about Savers; I enjoy reading and collecting used books, and they always have a great selection of books in good condition for a fraction of the price of buying new or even ordering used on Amazon. I've bought most of my clothing there over the past 6 years with no problems. I will say however, that the Salvation Army store on Cambridge street on the other side of town usually has better deals on adult size men's hiking and snow boots, so that's one area they could try to improve. Also I would not recommend buying electronics from here either; I bought a $15 vacuum cleaner once and tested it in the nearby outlet in the store and it seemed to work ok. But then when I got home I discovered the suction was completely dead. Another time I tested out a space heater and smoke immediately began to rise from it the moment I plugged it in. This is not only bad for business but also very dangerous. I would like it if they could test more of their electronics for basic functionality before putting them out for sale. But other than those issues, great store. read more
