The place had a mix of authentic antiques and new made to look old stuff in a few booths. A number of booths featured vintage clothing, and home decor, with the full rainbow of small collectibles and ephemera. Also, as an out-of-towner, the directions took me to the front of the store, with only street parking, but there was a parking lot behind the building, and other fun shops in the building. It was busy and at the same time clean and orderly. It had been years since my last shopping experience and I noticed that not much had changed... Until seeing that clothing was tagged by size.. meaning a size SM would have "S" and so on for a tag. General prices were listed on placards... Much easier than going through a rack, finding something awesome only to find out it's definitely not in your size range! So anyway I picked up a few what I feel are really nice items..and even better the tag being the color of the week - 50% off. I moved on to housewares and poked around some. I really was just browsing more than looking for anything in particular. My eyes caught some bakeware items that looked the perfect size for what I use.. so inspecting it I saw they were all " new" and Chantal .. even better the sticker on them was the 50% off color of the week. So I chose just 1 and tossed it into my cart. Checkout went very quickly. I found any of the staff I interacted with to be friendly and helpful. I felt perfectly safe shopping - people kept their distance..some masked and others were not which is the case now at the time of this writing. Why do I give it such a good rating - the place is huge (occupies an old mill building, not sure what it was originally used for, as Worcester was top manufacturing town back in the day) and the selection consists of thousands of clothing items of varying quality, incl. brand new pieces (if you look hard enough). A special FYI - Wednesdays are 50% all tags except the one they've listed as not included I think they are open till about 6pm and open on Sat. not Sun. What kind of stuff can you find -- here is a sampling of my purchases over past few months - Michael Kors spring ladies jacket with belt, in crisp white (found it online at $100) - $5 (after 50% off, but even at $10 a great deal), an Eileen Fisher - designer, thin deep red wool sweater with a $125 tag still on it - paid $4, and assorted ladies pants & tops by Talbot, Liz Claiborne, Jones of NY, or Ann Klein (I usually wear a Medium, sometimes Large) , so my size is plentiful - most of the time the avg. price I pay is $3-4 per item. One item I paid "full price" was a black wool double-breasted Ann Klein car coat for $8! Who will get the most use out of this store - primarily females (just because of the volume of ladies clothing they get) which is separated by colors, tops from bottoms and further sep. by sleeveless, short or long sleeves, then sweaters are sep. from fleece or sporting apparel, and anything printed is also on sep. racks. Jeans fill up middle 4-6 racks. Only drawback - these are not sep. by size. There is a men's section in back of this huge, old mill store and everything is hung up/ sep. in the same way, but there is just less in men's section. There is a children's and ladies plus-sized section as well - I cannot comment on these as I have not used them. How to make best use of a store like this -- if time is limited, just go directly to the racks displaying the colors or type of clothing that you need. Always look for the brightest/ most vibrant colors (even if white items) because these will be the least used. Look at inside pockets or along hems of pants, these will often show if item had been worn a lot or hardly at all. Crisp, clean pockets and labels/ washing instructions will also tell a lot. Look along the edges of sleeves or sides of pants for original price tags to be sticking out as there will be a fair amount of items never worn / donated with tags still on them. If time allows, browse along all the racks looking for anything new or something that really sticks out (like silk, leather, good wool). Then see if it is in your size ... I would not try to go through each item but look for the best looking stuff at a glance. Another tip is to wear a tank top and thin, body hugging type of clothing (like yoga pants) with easy to remove shirt or sweater so you can try items over your tank top/ tight fitting t-shirt. This sort of shopping is best if you pick out brands and sizes you are familiar with, so that you don't have to deal with trying too much stuff on while there (take home, wash and then try on). They do provide about 4 dressing rooms but these can be a bit challenging. It can be somewhat 'hit or miss' but if you stop in about every other week (pref. on that Wed.), I think you will find a couple of really good deals. Know your brands as they will often price similar items at same price - so you can get designer brands at same price as something which came from Walmart. This may not be for everyone, but I have observed there is no 'typical' shopper at thrift stores anymore. I have friends and neighbors who work in upper-mgmt. positions or with clients in the legal field and they shop here for their business apparel. There are parents trying to clothe their kids, there will students (from any one of the 8+ local colleges), young and old, in all shapes and sizes. Esp. in these tough economic times, I think this is smart shopping for anything that you'd typically wash before wearing. Clothes at leading dept. stores are in pretty rough shape in after holiday clearance sales. My only gripe is how they staple their price tags onto the collars of clothing items. Take a good look to see if the material has been damaged from this. I keep a staple remover in laundry room and remove them carefully. Good luck!!

Needless to say, as soon as we arrived in Worcester I quickly dumped her off at her friend's house and immediately peeled the F out so that I wouldn't waste a single minute that could be spent gettin' at that Worcester thrift store trash. My first stop was this Savers location and while I normally find Savers to be a bit lackluster in terms of variety and a bit too bright and clean, this one had a decidedly dumpier vibe to it. I was into it. I started with the housewares and general merchandise and worked my way toward the books and records and found a treasure trove of rusty golf clubs, busted up grimy furniture, old lamps and chipped porcelain cat statues and as always the book selection was well-organized with a wide range of titles. Found a few decent books on art and one on avante-garde modernist composers from the 1920s. But what really stood out about this Savers was the clothing section. I snagged a couple ugly button ups, some t-shirts and an exquisitely hideous seafoam green banded bottom polo, with a hardened food stain on the front to boot! In the end, would I say it was worth it to be a total POS and ditch my friends just to find a "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" t-shirt and a crusty old 1960s paperback on Arnold Schoenberg and Igor Stravinsky? No, of course not. But yes it totally was.

I've found some basic kitchen stuff here, but I've also noticed that a lot of their pots and pans are really scratched up and not in good condition. Staff/volunteers do a nice job of styling the mannequins, but I've hardly bought any clothes from this thrift store, and I thrift for all my clothes. I haven't really found any amazing finds here. No really nice brands. It seems like cheap college kid clothes. I am a Clark student and know that the store gets many donations from its students around move out day, so maybe then is a better time to shop. The store also gets its donations from unclaimed laundry, so those clothes for sale are often clean, on the bright side.

The shop has a large number of vendors, some of whom I am friends with. Unfortunately, the owner is very outspoken about their far-right politics on social media. It's distasteful when business owners are so vocal about their political views, regardless of the side they support. This shop is a thrift/antique market; who do they think their primary customer base is? In their post, they stated: "If you don't like this or don't agree with it. You already know there are other shops to choose from, or take your ass to Target" I sent a message suggesting they should be careful about publicly taking sides on political issues. I mentioned that I know some vendors there and that I would most likely not return. The owner's response: "No one asked you what you thought; we don't need you to return. You most definitely dont have any friends lol so have a good summer Karen." This is not how a business owner should behave, and it's incredibly toxic! While they are right that there are other places to shop in the area, actions like this likely lose more customers than they gain. When I stated that I would make sure others knew how he acted he then placed my image and information on blast on FB and Instagram for "his customers to decide" Of course adding a ton of far-right political nonsense where his equally toxic supporters added their thoughts.
