I had to update my review after the last visit. Not happy with how they've rearranged the higher priced item section which used to be against the wall on the right front side of the store. Its in the same area but now reduced to a small "ring" of glass cases with an employee showing items one at a time. Its fine for jewelry and smaller items but anything larger is just dumped inside the "ring behind the counter where its hard to see. They need to go back to the old way when it was against the wall. The Redwood City location is far superior in this respect. The worst part of the visit however was the employee directing customers near the checkout area (see photo). I HOPE she's not the store manager because her tone was terrible and treatment of customers unprofessional. There was an older gentleman in front of me who didn't know how to use the self checkout and wanted to have a real person wait on him. When he asked her if he could wait behind another customer who was being served by the single checkstand open, she immediately snapped at him that there was another customer still there. She was a little snappy with me as well when she sent me to a self checkout stand and I told her I had an item being held. Wow! This store is huge. I think Savers as a whole went through some re-organization a few years ago where they closed several locations. This was embarrassing Big and lots of variety of clothing options. I can't wait to come back again. I am not a fan of the self check out, but technology advancements for this store are pretty cool. A staff member signed me up for a Savers Card and I got 30% all the sale items and a $3 coupon via email for a return trip. read more

Bought - Cookbook Forgot to take a picture of the cookbook *snap* Okay the first thing I notice when I came into the shop was that it was really high ceiling similar to Costco but it had the same feeling as if you were in a Ross. The store has a wide selection of items ranging from stickers to full on sofas. I cannot say much for clothes however the book section was the one to please me with an endless inventory of cookbook. I could have been there for a whole hour and not finish looking at them. I'm from the Central Valley, so we don't have savers! I've seen plenty of thrifting vlogs and hauls from savers and definitely had to check one out while I was in the area. I got plenty of clothes, and there is so much to look through! Everything is so well organized. The workers are always busy, especially on the Saturday I went, because the donations were flowing in consistently. They don't do returns, only exchanges, so we were left trying to make up the difference for what we wanted to return to the store. The staff isn't particularly enthusiastic, but they get the job done. I could hunt for treasures all day in here if I could! Prices are definitely mid range, I would say. There's plenty of name brand clothing and new with tags stuff, which are marked up considerably. I like Savers much better than Goodwill, though! read more

The selection wasn't very good and the fact that there are no fitting rooms makes me not want to purchase clothes from here. Incredible place. Many things from many people in one of the most expensive communities in the USA. New savers opening up in Santa Clara and so on, but this one has many opportunities. Also hiring! Why pay for a gym membership when you can work in your community donation center at savers, lifting and packing goods like Tetris and getting paid $18 an hour could be the best way to get in shape. Friendly staff work hard and are helpful. The donation crew likes refreshments because they work hard and deal with theft as well. You cannot donate beds, bed frames, baby stuff, or furniture with stains or damage. Sometimes on busy days they do not accept furniture. Location much cleaner with new employees. Busy on tuesdays, fridays and Saturday's mostly in spring and holidays. Always new stuff every day. Records, cds, book, clothes, paintings, toys, decorations, and more. I usually like going to Savers since I can save some money and the employees are usually really friendly. All of the Savers locations I used to frequent closed down, so this one was really my only option. Clothes are pricier now ($20 for a plain dress, really? I could go to the mall and get a new one for the same price and with NO stains lol). My only gripe with this location is when I asked how the exchange process worked since they only have self-checkout registers now (or they choose to not open the regular registers, don't know). The reply the white male employee with an attitude gave me was condescending. He told me to go to the self-checkout and do it, "it's that simple". That was all he said. So simple that he walked away and didn't even bother explaining any further. Thankfully, there was another kind employee there that helped me. Other than that, I would rather go to HopeThrift (with fitting rooms) which is only 5 minutes away. And their prices are fair. No returns at Savers, only exchanges so you better hope your items fit you since they got rid of fitting rooms. I haven't written a Yelp review in so long but this whole situation made me feel uncomfortable and disappointed. Savers used to be great, but not anymore! The only good thing is that you get a 20% off coupon if you donate. Don't waste your time because Savers isn't what it used be. read more

I enjoyed shopping here today and found a few things. But it does seem to be getting more difficult to find amazing bargains as in general prices have inflated somewhat. Most of their sterling silver is now priced $24 and up. It seemed that about 5 years ago, you could come in here and find sterling silver jewelry for half the price. I also find the fact that they are now only self checkout a little bit irritating. Scanning especially small items like jewelry can be a headache. But I do love their rewards program. After $100 spent at the store, if I recall, you get a 30% off coupon. And the rewards program sends personal coupons to your email. This is the only thrift store that I know that does this. And, now that Hope stores no longer gives rewards for donating, Savers has become the only thrift store that does as it gives if I recall reading, 20% off! However, the main reason why I wanted to post a review is that today (3/17) at about 7:30 pm I lost a four leaf clover enamel sterling silver necklace here. It must have fallen off when I was trying on clothing in the back near the children's clothing section. Weird that I remember a lady staring at me when I was removing my sweater. I did not think much about it at the time but now I have a feeling that she perhaps saw it fall off of me and yet did not say anything. And surely, their security camera saw what happened and as I assume, someone found it but kept it. I did come back 10 minutes before closing on the same day to look for it, retracing my steps and it was gone. I told the staff and no one saw it. I still left my contact information if it turns up as there is sentimental value on the charm. The chain I do not care about as I have a feeling that the chain is just silver plated and cheap. The pendent does not have much price value either but a close relative of mine gave it to me before she died. If anyone - staff or customers find it, please let me know, respond as a message to this review would be much appreciated. The pendent looks like the one in the image. If only they still had fitting rooms, I would have had a place to put my necklace down while trying on clothing. Even then, I would never purchase pants at a Savers now because it would be very difficult to try on pants over clothing. You need to be able to take off any pants you are wearing to try on pants to get an accurate idea of size and length which means being able to do so in the privacy of a fitting room. So I now avoid the pants section of Savers stores as they all seem to have got rid of their fitting rooms ever since the coronavirus epidemic. Even though things are getting back to normal somewhat, the staff tore down their fitting rooms and just placed more mirrors throughout the store. Although they now have more space for donated furniture. And so, lesson learned, be careful with your belongings especially when trying on clothing here. I do not even think they allow returns so best to have a good idea of a brand's general fit before purchasing clothing here. Even then, sometimes clothing can be miss sized or shrunk. So it can be a disappointment to pay for clothing that you were not able to try on and purchased just to find out that you cannot return it if the item does not fit or if there is something wrong with it. I even avoid purchasing electronics now as most thrift stores including Savers do not accept returns on electronics either. Sure they have plug in areas to test items but still may be a quick glance to see if something works. Like in DVD players, it may turn on, but does it actually play DVDs or after playing a DVD for 10 minutes, does it just stop on its own? Surely, a quick check in store can not determine if overall an electronic item works for sure. But back to clothing. With thrift stores, clothing may have flaws and be not in like new condition as of course. At least most Goodwill stores, and Hope Thrift still have fitting rooms. ....anyhow.........sigh..... A note to Savers staff, If you saw anyone pick up a necklace off the ground in your security camera footage anytime between 7pm- 7:50pm (3/17), that would help. And, if that person is part of the rewards program then their contact information would be on file. I am also on the rewards program as I mentioned before. I was the one with an Irish sweater on and was having trouble with the self checkout. I left a note with my phone number in case someone found it. Savers is definitely one of my favorite places to go for such endeavors. What's even more awesome about this particular Savers is that it's right next to a JoAnn's Fabrics. So after all that thrifting, it's time to get some crafting supplies! It's such a lovely coincidence for all those people out there to love to upcycle and refurbish. The store itself is very large, you'll need to spend at LEAST an hour here to really see what's available, and maybe even longer because items are constantly being rolled out. I had a pleasant experience donating my clothing and miscellaneous items here. I was going to go to the Goodwill near my home but I read reviews about the employees making donators sort their donations. didn't have time for that nor did I want to deal with a rude person so I came here instead. I drove right up and the guy was ready with a bin and met me at my trunk. He was really friendly and courteous and thanked me for the donation. I was really blown away by how sincere and kind he was and thanked him back for being so great and for taking my donations! Just be aware that they've removed fitting rooms, so you cannot try on clothes before buying anymore. If you do need to exchange clothes, you only have 30 days to do so and you can only do it for credit that you have to use in that same transaction (I.e. you can't get store credit to use on a future purchase). It doesn't make sense and now I'm out $30 on some pants that don't fit. read more

I've been a savers shopper since way before it got trendy and I almost always find all kinds awesome things however I notice their prices keep on going up n up then up some more and pretty soon it will cost the same as brand new stuff which is lame and kinda defeats the whole purpose of used/second hand stuff. But anyway, what really is upsetting is the staff there. In particular, the night staff. I went in tonight, Friday night, they are supposed to close at 8pm I finally choose a pair of shoes that I wasn't 100% satisfied with but they were about to close and I needed them badly so I walk up to check out at 7:53pm and was refused bcuz they supposedly closed down all their registers and would not check anyone out. So yes, I had to leave my items on the counter and walk out with nuthin bcuz they were tiered and wanted to hurry up and close and go home. Seven minutes early. That's sum B.S. I've never worked at a place where that would be tolerated, I'm pretty sure it'd be a termination or suspension in the least. So I guess their hours depend on their mood and so heads up to any of you going at night to beware they may close early so get checked out asap just in case. That was the final leg down for me tho, I'm going to go to the goodwills and the newer thrift shop off almaden. Or just plain out of town cuz the outta town thrift stores are way freakin cheaper. I have found some neat stuff: but the in store staff are horrible. The donation collection staff have always been top notch. I mean I get that their job is probably annoying- but even trying to be a helpful shopper by picking up and hanging empty clothes hangers from the floor- a staffer was so openly irritated and rude to us. I only went in this week because I had a coupon from donating way back in the spring and wanted to see what we could find. I may resort to just donating to the bins and making an occasional thrift scavenger hunt to hope off Almaden in the future. I really REALLY like this Savers. I have not left disappointed yet. Like most 2nd hand stores, you have to do some searching but overall this is FAR better than any Goodwill or Salvation Army I've been to. I also like the cause that Savers benefits. Basically, if I am looking for something I hit Savers first and 85% of the time I find it there.... it fits, it is clean, and it is in good repair. The ONLY thing I don't like about this savers is they seem to have the most JACKED shoes of any donation center/2nd hand store in the area. Just trashed. I used to love coming here until they got rid of all of their dressing rooms due to "COVID". It's really BS. I understand that when COVID started in 2020, a lot of stores didn't know what to do, so out of caution, they closed their dressing rooms. It looks to me as though Savers realized that by closing their dressing rooms, they were still able to sell their clothes AND with their returns policy, they could make more sales. It was all beneficial to them. Their returns policy is 10 days to return an item, but you have to use the credits that SAME day or you lose it. It's total BS when you can't try the clothes on. Go to Goodwill. Their dressing rooms are still open. Until they reopen their dressing rooms, I'm done with this Savers. read more

This store is huge. I was in search of a microwave and I was able to get one for $15. My friend and I love going to thrift stores and since we were over this Wayne decided to stop in. We wondered the store and found so much stuff we wanted but just got a few things we needed. Some stuff is a bit pricey and some has really good prices. I like savers a lot more than the goodwill. The store was busy but really clean and we were able to check out relatively fast as well as someone bringing the microwave to my car (it's an older model so it's hella heavy) if I'm over this way I will definitely drop by to see what other treasures I can find. Found my new favorite Savers in the Bay area! This location is located in a spacious plaza with plenty of parking. Compared to the Savers in Redwood City, Milpitas (which is now closed), and Arcadia this is probably the biggest one I've been to. There's racks on racks on racks of clothes with a much larger selection for men than other Savers as well. I do agree with some of the other reviews that prices were inflated for some items. I found a Charlotte Russe velvet bodycon dress in fair condition for close to retail price. It was nice but not retail price nice for a used dress. I also took a star off for cleanliness as the floors could be cleaner. Overall, the variety of selection matters more to me and I was still able to find a few quality pieces for a great price so I'll be stopping by whenever I'm in the area! read more
