Savers is a store where people are encouraged to browse for long periods of time, yet customers are DENIED restroom access. Especially store at 35th ave & Bell Rd. I've been shopping at Savers for YEARS, but one thing that continues to frustrate me is the restroom policy. Before COVID, customers had access to restrooms. Then it became a code system, then limited access for certain groups (elderly/kids/disabilities), and now customers are completely DENIED access. It's been years since the pandemic, and I don't understand why this has become permanent. Many shoppers spend an hour or MORE in the store. Savers serves a lot of seniors, families with young children, and people with medical conditions who may need restroom access unexpectedly. To make matters worse, there are often no nearby public restrooms available. Because of this policy, I RARELY shop here anymore. I have a medical condition where randomly I have to go to the bathroom unexpectedly. Before COVID, I was a WEEKLY customer. It's disappointing that a store that ENCOURAGES customers to spend time browsing no longer provides access to such a basic necessity. I hope management reconsiders this policy and puts customers first. I am very inclined to File an ADA Access Complaint, write a letter to Savers Corporate Office AND email District/Regional Managers. read more

I agree, their prices are too high For a "thrift" store. The only day I shop there is 50% off Mondays. Mind you, there are so many people then. It's a nightmare to find a parking spot or an available shopping cart. If you do find a cart, then it's battle-time to Navigate the aisles with said cart due to rude aisle hogs. I'm chuckling now picturing the whole ordeal. And lastly, don't let the lengthy check-out line that snakes thru the store intimidate you. I'm so impressed at how smoothly and quickly that line moves. Things have changed so much. It really sucks. I used to love Savers. Now everything is expensive (for a thrift store). Used shirts and pants for $10??? Why???? Lots of things have stains on them or holes. Then THERE ARE NO FITTING ROOMS. Ever since COVID. Now it just feels like they're lazy and don't want to put clothes back. This is difficult for curvier women because with pants/jeans/shorts we never really know if they'll fit or not without trying them on. Now I have to go back to return things and get a store credit. First time in a Savers thrift store. It was surprisingly very clean and well organized. I was on limited time, so I was only able to hit the books section and quickly scan housewares. They had a decent selection of books and DVDs. They had some awesomely low priced kitchen appliances that caught my eye but i just dont have a need for. I'm sure Ill be back at some point to peruse the racks when I have a few hours by myself to spare. :) read more

Like many, I like finding a good deal. I recently have found it difficult to find many good deals at Savers, because the prices they set items at almost seem like I could find some things brand new at the same or even lower prices. Sadly, I think Savers has become a high priced thrift store. I don't remember the high prices as much several years ago. Yes, I realize there is a cost to doing business, but the fact that the items they sell are all donated, it just seems that the prices could be a bit lower. I also wonder how they determine their pricing, because it seems so arbitrary. A few items might be well priced and other items are, like I said, more expensive than buying it brand new. All that said, I do find myself periodically shopping at Savers on their Monday 50% off days. Well, their prices are a bit high, and one can get new clothing comparatively at Costco for a little bit more... Same for Last Chance. However, it is for charity and that does make a difference. They have a nice selection of books, magazines, and records, however. Good deals on housewares which of course our prolific in any thrift store. During check out, staff was pleasant. He left the hangers on the clothes, but then when we walked 25 feet towards the door, the security guard spied at us and said "hangers "?!? accusingly, no biggie and we handed them over ...but nothing like some bad feelings to wrap up a shopping trip ! read more

Not only do they scam customers and charge 10$ for old dirty shirts, the manager apparently has a reputation for following people around the store. She followed me and my boyfriend around the store and then proceeded to help us when an item wouldn't scan at checkout and then told us the price of our shirts weren't really the prices, and that they were 10$ each instead of 3.99 and 5.99, not only was i discriminated against i was embarrassed and wasn't even provided an explanation as to why i couldn't buy an item from the store. I stop by this savers weekly for the half priced Mondays. I stopped by today for fun just to get out of the house. I found myself thinking the prices were a little high (considering they get these items for free). Truthfully, the half priced Monday prices are what I think of when I think "thrift store." I get it's a new economy now a days, but geez. As a teenager, seeing some of these fast fashion items (tank tops specifically) priced at $6 or $7 doesn't make sense. The only other thing about this location, which isn't a big deal, is that if you have an issue that takes more than one minute of the checkout employees time, you will be put last. I informed the employee I needed help with an exchange and as she was helping me she kept leaving to assist other people with assorted issues. I get it, it's busy and you have other customers, but taking the time to assist me would've cut the time it took in half. I was left with my fussy baby to stand and wait while she continued to leave out of no where. I feel bad as she didn't have back up to assist, so nothing against the employee. The big lady, Christine, was rude. Me and my siblings went in to get some clothes for our kids and try to find some stuff for our house. She came up and told us the price for something was wrong, so we said okay then we will not get it. Then she proceeded to shadily try to accuse us of stealing. She went through all of our stuff which CLEARLY had been scanned correctly. Her manager or whoever it was came and told us she refuses service to us because ONE item was not the correct price! They sell nice items, but they think they are some high end resale store. There is no reason why basic dresses should be priced at $15 when not even being a high brand. Sets of dishes for over $80. You are a basic thrift store. Not a consignment store or a high end thrift store. Please do a real review of your prices and realize what you're selling is not worth the prices you are selecting. I worked in several resale stores and even do it on the side with clothing. You're literally trying to sell these items for full price as if they were brand new. Absolutely do not shop here. I would rate lower than a 1 star if I could. They are price gouging at a level that I've never seen before. If you're shopping in the men's section, assume that you're paying $10+ an item MINIMUM. Blank T-shirt's with no logos or anything were literally $10, every single shirt in the entire rack was $10 minimum even if it wasn't even remotely a nice shirt. I don't know what thrifting has become, it's unrealistic now. It's supposed to for lower income families to come in and be able to AFFORD CLOTHES. As someone who used to be able to go in here and walk out with a few items for a somewhat reasonable price, you just simply can't anymore. They literally put knives out with tape where anyone can grab them. How is this even acceptable? I told management and they said "wait someone took the tape off" as if that's the main point. Extremely dangerous and irresponsible. A lot of knives are missing indicating previous theft. read more

Came in here on a Monday morning, one of the worst mistakes of my life. Monday is half off day, I walked in literally minutes after they first opened, just looking for a rug for under the mirror in my bedroom. The place is swarming with cockroaches, and by cockroaches I mean the slimy reselling leeches who ruined society. And I'm aware it's not savers fault these people exist, but the price gouging IS their fault. Having to deal with resellers is terrible enough, now I'm supposed to pay $8 for a used candle jar because you're afraid someone's gonna try to sell it online at a markup? I wanted to take a look at some comics in the case at the jewelry counter (which were outrageously priced. It's like they were priced by a 12 year old running his first yard sale. $10 for any random mass printed comic in terrible condition) and the lady goes "would you like to take a number?" And I said "sure" I'm 10. She then helps the girl next to me, takes an hour, then she calls out, "next! Number 5!" Holy Jesus. It finally gets to my number, nothing worth value no one is surprised, and the worker is bragging about how she has anyone who complains about prices or waiting in line tossed by security. Resellers and thrift store response to resellers have ruined our way of life. Yk how disturbing it is to walk past any random in the thrift and find them researching every item in their cart on eBay? I love thrift store shopping so I am really bummed. First off, you can't try clothes on but you can bring them back. BUT you can only exchange it for clothing while you're there. Unlike the "I'm very picky" type of reviewer with pointless information surrounding that irrelevant information, any thrift store will always have colorful people, colorful items, and be in varied states of order and disarray. Impossible not to be, depending upon not where but when one goes. The 35th Ave and Bell location is great, as are the others in Phoenix, Glendale, and surrounding areas. Shopping and donating are obviously essential and to say I donate there is silly, no one cares unless they plan on waiting for me to unload and then scoop up my crap or goods knowing all I have, people donate, people shop, people save money, the money saves people. It's a thrift store, a good one. At every location, I find helpful employees, plenty of staff, great variety, cleanliness, and anything you would want in a thrift store like Savers. With decades of management in retail, I can honestly say all these stores are run well...and the one by where I live, 35th and Bell, is no different. I shop for anything and everything, am not picky because NOT purchasing a thing that is broken, has missing parts, so on so forth doesn't make you picky, just a normal shopper. I do, however, sometimes buy things only for their parts or to redo them -- I am an artist, artisan, and craftsman, and Savers is also good for that too! The no back pack policy is a little twisted. I came in today and the cashier hunted me down to take my back pack and lock it up. Ridiculous considering many women come in with purses the size of a suit case without being harassed. I get they're trying to prevent loss but in all reality it's much easier to shop lift with a purse since a lot of women place it in the shopping basket vs being on a back like mine was. I was well presentable and did not look like a bum. Will not be back in sadly. This was my go to spot for thrift finds and I very well spend thousands of dollars here a year. read more

Savers is *awesome* for costumes! I popped in needing a Tour de Fat costume. In my heart I knew Savers would rock. They have rows and rows of Halloween costumes and accessories. Same stuff you might find in a Party City for less. Walking in I was greeted by Craig, "Hi! I'm the Costume Consultant. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help." Mind you, Craig is a really, really tall beefy guy. So the first time he spoke I was thinking, "Em...W-h-a-t does this man want?" Then I saw the name badge and caught on. Craig is the bomb. I looooorved my "Dark Angel" outfit. + I got some compliments out of it. It's quite nice to walk up and down the available outfits, ordered by size, and plop them into your cart. There's no writing down of numbers after squinting at a picture in a store, only to learn they are out of stock. Savers allows you to try on six items at a time. Alas, I just wasn't feeling it with any of the traditional costumes. A Minnie Mouse polka dot retro thing with cute black gloves was super cute tho. I had two main criteria: 1) can't be too hot 2) should have some cleavage. (What? I'm single. Minnie had my collar bones covered.) Hearing Craig's deep voice boom over the loudspeaker, "Hi! This is Craig! Allow me to create a unique costume for you." changed my mind. I asked some other gals for leads on black halter tops. They initially suggested the sleeveless aisle. When i added, "I'm looking for something inappropriate" they pointed me to lingerie. (I like they way the employees here think.) If anyone is looking for Frederick's of Hollywood merchandise they've got a current stash. (Oof. I'll never look at myself the same again.) Given that I'd be riding my bike to the light rail I needed more coverage. Found an awesome dress with beads. Craig generously allowed me to try on my feather wings. (Shh!) And he suggested the type of accessories to glam the whole thing up with. Craig is the kind of guy you'd want as a bouncer. Sure, he's stocky. But I witnessed him helping tiny humans shop for Superman get-ups. These kids also think Craig walks on water. I'd go there if you need some Halloween fun! read more

When you walk in this store, the first thing that is a real turn off is that there is a really strong bad odor. I looked around and they has 50% off certain colored tags but pretty much, there wasn't anything (or much of) that was those colored tags! I figured that that's why they had so many rows and rows of stuff that looked really old and looked like it hadn't moved in a long while. We've been going to savers for years now because of the better selection than other thrift stores like goodwill. The prices were much better a few years ago when you could get name brand items for under $10. In the last year or so they changed this practice and started charging almost clearance retail prices. For example Nike and Under Armor are now over $15 sometimes $25 if it still has the tags. Its only worth it to go on 50% off days. Saver's also offers a wider variety of goods and the clothes are of better quality than other thrift stores.
