This Savers in Nashua, NH is an absolute dump. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you enjoy being ripped off and digging through filthy junk that should have been thrown away. Zero stars if that were an option. The store is disgusting, and the pricing is beyond outrageous. These are donated items, yet they're charging more than original retail prices. The shoes were revolting--dirty, worn, and completely unsanitary. I couldn't believe they were even allowed on the sales floor. The prices are a complete joke. The purses were just as bad. The "name brand" bags up front were priced higher than what you can buy them for brand new. This is a thrift store, not a luxury boutique--act like it. The staff made the experience even worse. No greeting, no customer service, nothing. When I asked an employee for help, she flat-out told me she was too busy while standing around gossiping with another employee. Older woman worker (didn't catch her name unfortunately) shouted "ma'am on the phone cash or card!" in the most rude manner and lack of patience I have ever experienced from a worker. I understand being on your phone and not hearing is annoying for anyone, but I was on the phone for a few seconds with no one behind me in line for the self checkout. I just went to donate basically a brand new couch. I just took it out of my house right before I went to donate it. They said it was soaked. Mind you, it was covered in a tarp, JUST TAKEN OUT OF MY HOME. Now I'm waiting for the dump to take it. I have a studio, I don't have time or space to wait for someone to buy it. I just needed it gone, now it's getting thrown away. mind you, I went there a month ago and their furniture looks like poop, stains and it's super expensive and smells bad in there. I recently found this location while visiting someone staying in the area. I've returned twice now. A large store, very nice people working both times Ive stopped in A large housewares section. Which I really like, I do wish it was a bit more organized. The toy section is also a good size but disorganized so I have passed by it. My Mother and I came to shop and make a donation for the first time. When we got there, the two employees did not greet us or smile. We opened the trunk, got out, started removing boxes. We handed one to each of the two and removed more boxes, placing them on the ground. This is when it all started. Apparently, one of them had said "DON'T PUT THEM ON THE GROUND" from in the garage. My Mother is 68 AND is hard of hearing. He stormed over as she was putting the box down to say, "I SAID NOT TO PUT THEM ON THE GROUND", At this point, I brought over a box and placed it on the ground as well. My Mother was bewildered and said "Why?" And he just repeated, "don't put them on the ground" and my Mother look around and said, "I don't see a sign?" Reminder, this is both our FIRST TIME dropping off donations at this location. Then he said, "HOW WOULD YOU LIKE PICKING THINGS UP ALL DAY?" And that's when I told him, "You don't have to be RUDE!" After that, he lost it. He told us to take our stuff and leave. I said, "No, we are dropping off our donations" He said, "No I don't want it!" I continued to remove items. Then he said, "leave or I am calling the police." I told him to go ahead, I know that we were not in the wrong. He radioed another employee (who must've been inside), "to call the police, we have an unruly customer." Then I got extremely frustrated and insulted. By NO MEANS were we being unruly in the SLIGHTEST. We came to drop of donations, so we were going to. He kept refusing to give me his name. I asked him for his manager and he said, "I AM the Manager." I told him I wanted the STORE manager and he then told me, "I am the highest ranking manager that works here." I obviously knew that was not true. My mother said we will not be donating here ever again (and it was only our first time!) He said, "that's fine we don't need it." Absolutely no pride or work ethic. Two women employees came out to join us. As I explained to her, everything I said, he just kept yelling, "She's lying, she's a liar." The woman asked what I wanted her to do, I said watch the camera's you will hear it all. She said, "okay, pull up and I will go check the cameras." We parked and entered from the main entrance. I went to the front of the store to wait. This didn't take long, I walked up to them, and she stared at me. I said, "Hi, I am the girl from out back (donation center)" she said "I know." She didn't say anything else; it was like she had already completely forgotten what she said she'd do. I asked, "Did you look at the cameras?" She said, "and what would I get from that?" I was baffled. I told her "so you can see how he treated us, how unprofessional he was talking to us" and she told me that the cameras don't pick up sound. I have no idea why she offered it. I asked her, then what do I do? She kept saying and pointing out everything WE did wrong. She said WE should've ASKED if we can put it on the ground. I was so emotionally distraught at this point; I was holding back from crying. I told her that there are NO signs with instructions or stating NOT to put things down. It's literally impossible for anyone to know... she kept saying "you should've asked". I couldn't help but cry. I told her that we thought we were being COURTEOUS by helping. Again, she said, "you should have asked." No shed of empathy or sincerity to her face. All the blame was on us. Why would we care if we can't put a box on the ground? What would WE get out of making a problem from dropping off donations? Absolutely nothing. We only had a problem with the rudeness of the employee. By no means, did we want to start a problem. But the way he treated us like criminals for PUTTING A BOX ON THE GROUND is completely foolish. I got the store number and Managers name. Then my mom and I shopped; but our shortest visit at SAVERS ever. I couldn't help but break down once we were alone; I cried, she cried. How can people be SO mean? We just wanted to help, we just wanted to make a donation. Probably the worst part, this Employee from out back in the donation area walked to the front of the store listen to my conversation; disguising it as picking up the donation bin from the front, which was 1/4 full, stayed there to watch. Then when we finished talking, he walked away. This wasn't the last time, at the end, he walked down one of the shoe aisles near us and just watched, then walked away, and kept looking back at us. And this time, I recorded him doing it. He was HARASSING us, trying to intimidate us. There was no reason for him to be in this area of the store. We paid and left; but not only upset, we were so scared. We couldn't have gotten in the car to drive away fast enough. I have NEVER been so HUMILIATED or BRUTALLY treated at a store before. This is unjustifiable and WRONG. No matter WHO it is, they DO NOT deserve to be treated this way. I am 100% sure that if we were men, he wouldn't have. Not sure who determines the pricing here, but they really need to pay more attention. I saw an open package of gift boxes for $5.49 that still had a price sticker from Walmart of $2.97. Also saw a broken salad spinner for $7.49, an old rusty cake pan for $$6.49, a cupcake carrier marked $4.99 and a water bottle marked $2.99 from the Dollar Tree (both $1.25 new), and many many more items that are ridiculously overpriced. This place is an embarrassment. I am ashamed to say I ever worked here. Overpriced, dirty junk. Seems employees either don't care or are pushed to get their daily quota (something The store manager pushes hard, even if that means putting out worthless overpriced garbage). Several books ruined due to poor sticker placement (on the front of the book!). Clothes with holes and stains and priced like it was brand new. Oh and anything they don't sell (minus clothes & some books) gets thrown into the garbage shoot. Glassware, electronics, DVDs, shoes, all furniture. Donate your used goods elsewhere please! Employees are very rude, have no sense of personal space. Again, not sure if this is them being pressured to get product/numbers on the floor, but they do not care if you are browsing, they will cut you off to remove the "old" colors/product from the floor. I have often donated to Savers in Nashua. Today I brought a crib and other various items to donate. The person ubloading them dragged the pieces of the crib on the ground and scratched the paint off of one corner. He also was too lazy to carry the pack and play so he kicked it aling the cement and got the cover all dirty. He leaned the pieces of the crib against a box that had 2 lamps on top of it. One of the lamps toppled over and broke, so he kicked the pieces of the crib in anger. read more

I went back today and it will be my last visit. Prices were insane. A baggie of beat up crayons was $2.99. You could buy them new for less than that. A box of 5-6 heavily used "Stampin' Up" rubber stamps was $9.99! The toy section as well has the luggage section looked like a tornado had ripped through. I had the misfortune of passing by a bathroom as someone opened the door to go in. Holy fumes of hell! I almost passed out from the stench. Only 10 percent of profits goes to charity. The rest goes to their for-profit business. They get people to donate goods, then they sell those goods for a profit. Gross, although you can always find something tucked away that the staff has hid so they can buy it on their day off it is near impossible to find anything quick or without needing a bath afterward. The bathrooms smell like they have the 0.01% of bacteria that lysol doesn't kill. The prices for the most part are decent and about the same as goodwill with probably better selection. Nashua Store: I love the opportunity to find unique objects at a relatively low price, and the workers are pleasant. However, I am so repulsed by the women's bathroom that I refuse to use it. Not only is it constantly dirty with a nasty smell, but the automatic-flush toilets often flush without warning, just because the user opens the door to enter the stall. Similarly, often when one toilet flushes, another toilet in an empty stall also flushes. The waste of water and lack of decent sanitation is appalling. I slipped and fell once onto a slimy wet floor in a stall and broke my arm. I received a nice financial settlement from Savers. Had the floor been clean, I would not have slipped. Now if I need the restroom, I go next door to Best Buy, where the facilities are clean, sanitary, and well-maintained. Savers needs to remodel their facilities so walking into them does not feel like walking into a cesspool, and so they no longer waste precious water. Their prices are so high now (to compensate for the percent-off coupons given in exchange for donations) that they certainly have enough money. I went to Savers today and it was a thrift store experience for sure. I think what bothered me the most is the mean and snotty attitude of the employees. I asked a simple question of the cashier and was met with a snort, and a NO.... like I was asking something really stupid. Not because I'm a snob, I just have a very little patience to sort through style, price, and size to find something I want. Savers I've been able to find some awesome finds. Abercrombie & Fitch jeans, Burberry skirt, Gap tops & skirts, Adidas shorts, Nike shorts, Banana Republic, Gloria Vanderbilt, Old Navy & other random finds all for a great value. I think the most I've ever paid for anything there is $10.00 & it was a high quality brand. I just lost 30 lbs & am still trying to lose more weight, so I don't want to invest in a good wardrobe just to grow out of it in a few months. Savers had a large variety of clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, and just about everything. I found a dark green and a dark brown cardigan while shopping there. The shirts there in my opinion weren't as good as I would of hoped, but the sweaters and cardigans are AMAZING. I would also like to mention that they had shoes in just about every size and various different kinds. Whilst on my trip there I saw stuffed animals, including squishmallows! Four employees at the donation area and I had to unload my donations myself. My first time at Savers and I loved it. I went on Labor day which coincidently was 50% off clothing day. holy cow. For just shy of $40 I bought 17 shirts, half long sleeve, half short sleeve. You do need to go through them and look for stains and rips but other than that its a great way to shop. I would have given them 5 stars but they only let you take in 6 things in the dressing room but they let you come out to get more and it takes longer because each time you have to get dressed again to go back to your shopping cart to get more! This place was actually quite amusing and fun. I didn't go in here for anything in particular, other than to try and find some cheao stuff for my aprtment, so I wasn't really expecting anything. What I did find were some fantastically cheap beer glasses ($0.99 - $1.99), what better way to get an odd assortment of glasses for next to nothing!?!? They have a ton of books, and had I an hour to browse through them all title by title, I may have done that, but time wasn't on my side today. Clothes, shoes, accessories, tons...had I wanted more of something, it would have been some home furnishing type stuff...maybe end tables, coffee tables, etc. I'm sure anything of this nature (if it comes in) typically goes out rather quickly. I love thrift stores! To clarify, yes this one is a for profit business. They don't try to keep it a secret. They DO help nonprofits by buying goods that are donated to the nonprofits, by weight per category, I think. When you drop donated goods at the loading dock you are donating them to the epilepsy foundation. The charity sorts the goods into categories, such as Shoes, Books, Clothes...and Savers buys the stuff. Why are the prices high? That's the for-profit part and because they can. I asked a manager why the prices became unrealistic, a glass mixing bowl for $40 or a Victorian antique vase for $2. I was told that they switched to a computer program with standardized prices that overrides individual human thought in determining prices (my words, her sentiment). This store is fantastic for buying books. They have many recent books in great condition. The pricing of most books is based by the MSRP on the book, but the great part is that there is a cap on how much they'll charge. A book that was originally $40 will cost the same as a book that was originally $11. The clothes are generally more upscale than most local thrift stores and they are better organized. If you want clothes for mucking manure shop at Salvation Army on Wednesdays or Goodwill Buy the Pound. If you need clothes for a job interview or attending a wedding, Savers is definitely your best option of local thrift stores. I like how they hang small items grouped in big plastic bags on the wall. Salvation Army seems to still throw out most little loose items. Savers also is beneficial because they recycle tons of material, such as plastic bags. They ship clothes, shoes, and some useful durable goods, like pots and pans to poor countries. They don't ship fragile decorative items to poor countries for logical reasons. Like Salvation Army, the knick knacks get eventually discarded if they don't sell. They have lots of new Halloween junk because they make many thousands of dollars off of that new stuff because people have traditionally gone to thrift stores to make Halloween costumes. Yes, the parking lot is too small. During peak seasons like Halloween and Christmas, you may have to park at another business. Savers has been reviewed as "dingy". It's not that bad and the aisles are relatively wide. The restrooms? I haven't been in the ladies room in a long time because of how gross it was. Yes, it reeked and needed repairs and intensive professional cleaning. Use it only in a crisis because it is haunted by the toilet crises of thousands of others. Don't let that scare you from checking out Savers if you haven't before. Each thrift store is unique, try them all to learn what aspects each has that is of benefit to you. After walking around a bit looking for that diamond in the rough I found them to be fairly priced with a good selection, but something did not feel right, seeing all the signs about donations and money given to charity the store seemed to be run very well for a thrift type store.
