I have found the staff; checkers, stockers, deli workers, managers, bakery, etc, to be helpful. They help this old woman locate items, and on one occasion even walked me to the product. I have no complaints about the food, but then again, I do not eat deli except to buy chicken strips for the dog. The workers at the deli are helpful, friendly and nice as are all the staff. The problem I have is no answer when calling the store to get Customer service to ask about pick up but after several tries, no good.

When you are in a "food desert" of sorts it is super nice to be able to grab a necessary item if you need it. Maybe that is a sweet treat you are craving or rice to complete a meal. The selection is limited but you will probably find what you are looking for even if it is the only one they have. The woman who runs the shop is SUPER nice. My suggestion is to not rely on the store for your needs when you travel to Seldovia but know it is there if you need it.

Tanner's has strong reviews and great marketing showing the Tanner Family involved in their business and talking about the care and pride they take with their products and customers. Unfortunately I did not experience anything close to that. 1) They advertised two-day shipping and my order took three days to deliver. Tanner's uses FedEx for shipping. I live 20 miles from the Atlanta Airport (one of FedEx hubs) and rarely do I experience an on-time delivery from FedEx. I received an initial email with confirmation for the 2-day delivery, and then on the scheduled day of delivery I received an email for a delay. FedEx is notorious for not delivering on time. I avoid business that use FedEx, but decided to give Tanner's a try. 2) Due to the 24-hour delay the products were thawed and not frozen. I purchased a 5-lb bag of crab legs and they were thawed and left of puddle of crab juice in the bottom of the plastic liner. I had to rinse and dry each package before placing in my freezer. 3) I paid $20 for the shipping insurance, but was not able to use it for a refund or replacement because Tanner's advertises that their products may arrive thawed but within 38 degrees, and therefore can be refrozen with no impact on quality. That claim is BS and everyone on the planet knows that fish turns mushy when is has been frozen, thawed, and refrozen. It is a universal fact and there is no disputing it, but Tanner's claims there is no impact on quality. That is false advertising and it covers their mishaps with delayed deliveries. When you pay $30 per pound for king salmon collars or halibut cheeks, you would expect it to arrive frozen to prevent a mushy product. 4) They left out two items that I ordered; Sea-bass Cheeks and Coconut Batter. They offered me a credit or refund, and I took the refund. 5) It was a very disappointing experience for me all around and I just felt the need to share it with others. When corresponding with Betty Jean and Joshua, they were polite, explained their protocols, and provided a refund for the missing items. But for a business that promotes quality, customer care, and family pride, I was surprised they would have not done more to recover a first-time customer. Having spent the last 38 years in Food Service and Hospitality their lack of care speaks volumes . In my humble opinion, Tanner's is not the company they claim to be. Please be aware.
