I only shop here to get little things or for convenience because the prices are expensive compared to other supermarkets. The actual store has lots of useful amenities such as water dispensers (inside and outside), propane exchange, electric car charging, newspaper stands, and christmas trees (around christmas), and a flower department among other things. The staff is always nice, one of the employees stopped an important task and opened up a register to get me some stamps which was very nice. They have quite a few young people working there which makes the vibe easy going. All things considered, I wouldn't do my normal shopping here, but it is a good place to grab a quick item or two. this store offers the worst customer service The head clerk Daniel Farley should be retrained, demoted or fired he is passive aggressive and just a jerk. This is the third time I have had the displeasure of his poor customer service and now firmly believe that it's just him and he enjoys people leaving his store unhappy. I certain that more people must have had the same or similar experience. I had a "rain check" for a sale item I wanted to use and they were short on the quantity of items needed to fill my rain check, thus I wanted to purchase what they had and use the balance on a return visit when they have more. Simple concept.. No Mr Daniel Farley position is that I should surrender the rain check and to bad we only had a few of the items you need. Really are you saying that yes he was is and did. We shopping at this Save Mart yesterday and purchased one of the whole chickens that were on sale. We asked the butcher if they could split the chicken in half. We were told that since the chicken was on sale they could not split it for us. I feel this is terrible customer service. We have purchased chicken on sale at Raleys and they have no problem splitting them for us. I guess we will be shopping there now. read more

Needed a last minute birthday cake and thanks to Save Mart bakery department helped me personalize a cake as if though we ordered it well in advance. The birthday cake was amazing as well as the berry tart. The cake was white with cream cheese frosting. read more

This is your typical neighborhood grocery store. Prices for goods not on sale are normally pretty high so shop the weekly sale paper if you're looking for a decent deal on your groceries. Sometimes you can buy discounted NASCAR tickets here if Save Mart is the sponsor for the race, which is nice. Otherwise if we find ourselves in here its because they had some good deals in their mailer. As far as customer service goes, that's hit or miss. We've had very polite, professional service and have had others that are at the other end of the spectrum. We don't shop here enough to know the busy times but we have ended up waiting in line for quite some time on a couple visits. And we had another issue when trying to buy our tickets to the race, they had flyers up for ticket purchase but no one knew how to ring them up, the front end manager was nice enough and called another store to get instructions. It took a little longer but I was thankful they didn't make us drive to another store. read more

The "music" here ruins the shopping experience. It is absolutely terrible stuff and has no place in a grocery store, or anywhere else for that matter. The worst music I've ever heard. This is my mother's favorite grocery store she's been coming here for years & is pretty familiar with the employees. I love it too. I really dislike Savemart, and no I do not have any personal axe to grind, I just find them sorely lacking compared to some other stores in Reno: 1) pricing- way expensive on many items. If an item is not on their ad, you can generally expect to pay more for it than you would in most other area stores. 2)Stock- it looks to me like they are hurting financially and can't afford to stock their stores. Last time I was there they had 3 full displays of pepsi taking up shelf space where other items would normally be found. 3) Gaudy shelf hanging price tags EVERYWHERE. I know this probably only bothers me, but I find it very annoying that they put sale tags on the shelves for EVERY item in the store, 95% of which are not on sale- what's the point? Do they really think this conveys a message that everything in the store is on sale? 4) lousy meat, the meat is a lower quality than most other stores, I would put it on a par with Winco meat. I definitely would not go there and buy steak to serve to company, particularly since it would probably cost more than better quality meat at another store. I used to do about 80% of my shopping at Albertson's even without comparing their prices to competitor's I always felt even if not the cheapest, they were fair. I just don't feel that way about Savemart, I think they are a rip-off store with a few loss leader items and a store full of crap that is very overpriced, taking advantage of the many people who don't have the means or time to check prices. A few months ago, I went there to buy some Pepsi on sale and wanted to pick up some onions and Cilantro, both were 50% higher than Safeway's or Raley's - there is simply no excuse for that. read more

I have been going to the pharmacy here now for a little over two years and love it. They take the time to answer questions and explain things and do not rush through it like a lot of other places do. I was even given back 5.00 of my 10.00 dollar co-pay. I had a refill on some cough syrup and it was a smaller bottle than the first time I had gotten it so they explained that my insurance only covered so much the first time this little bit was the left over. They felt bad that I had to pay 10.00 for such a small amount they credited me back half. No other pharmacy would of done that. I recommend this pharmacy. Jeff and Don are the pharmacists there and they are awesome. read more

They don't have the apples I was hoping for and no self check out so if you're in a rush, you probably want to avoid this store since the pace is a little slow to say the least. As brief as possible. I just went to save Mart to buy some salmon for my restaurant as it was an emergency due to a supplier fault. I went to checkout and used a check, it was an old checkbook but works all over town, the first check I used didn't work and these employees have not one second thought to a customer in need. and I told cashier that it was an emergency can I please try another check I have many more checks, he said. No. I won't accept those. I've never been treated in an establishment this badly. I'll be sure to never return to save mart and spread the word on how these guys do business. When a customer is in need it's only right to do everything for that customer in any customer based situation. Shameful. read more

Save Mart is a OK with me. I mean how much can I say about a grocery store supermarket. Parking is a breeze, in and out is maybe the best part. The store is OK, the lighting in there makes it feel like the 90s and could use a definite upgrade, come to think of it so could the floor which stays reliably pretty dirty. I suppose it's hard to keep things clean in Reno since there is so much dust and dirt in the air. The products are competitively priced with Walmart and such but they don't have nearly the selection. I like the home town feel they give you once you've been a customer for a while that lets you know you're now a legit local. Feels good to be local in Reno and save Mart is going to be my go to supermarket grocery store while I'm staying here. read more

Save Mart (formerly Albertsons in Reno), I have shopped at Save Mart. It is my least favorite grocery store in Reno. I would rate Safeway, Smith's and Whole Foods far above Save Mart. With so-so meats, and iffy vegetables, it's slightly better than a "7-11". It is open all night, that is its biggest upside. Not a fan. read more

There is one good Checker, Gigi. Otherwise, my opinion of this store it terrible. They are not diabetic friendly. The don't carry 24 packs of soda, so I had to pay more to buy 12 packs. They only have vanilla sugar free ice cream. They don't have a express lane. And, as other reviewers stated, the lead clerk is condescending and rude and abuses his power. One time I was checking out and he was behind me in line. I made an error thinking I had asked for money back. He jumps and tells me he was watching my transaction and I did not. Why was he watching my key stroke? The Plumb store is farther away from me, but it is so much better and has more sugar free products. read more
