We requested an Essency electric water heater installation. We also needed 240/220 run from the panel outside to the mechanical room. 1. We were given quotes for 4 different water heaters, including one gas heater. That allowed us to compare pricing & features. 2. We were given 2 quotes for the electrical work depending on ease or difficult access to the mechanical room. All quotes were detailed with line items for parts, etc. That was very professional vs the companies that give you a "black box" price with no details. Prices were reasonable for today's structure. Still a shock as we've had the house for 13 years with very few repairs needed. But it is what it is. We had a problem with the initial water heater hookup. They quickly sent out a top electrician (Pete) who verified everything and found one problem. He said he'd talk to the owner in case there was a problem with the water heater. The Essency has communication and app control features so the board working is critical. The next morning they had a full replacement water heater on the truck in case it was needed. It was not needed, Pete and Jacob had it up and running and reverified everything. Pete also caught that our router had paused the connection to water heater for some reason. Pete called later to make sure everything was good. We live near DU and there was no stalling around about coming out here. 6 reasons to think twice about save home heat This one goes out to female homeowners who might be especially vulnerable to smooth-talking HVAC salesmen. A week ago, I had a regularly scheduled maintenance visit with Save Home Heat. What followed was a beautifully crafted upsell: psychologically astute, layered, and intricate. It may have been an isolated incident, due to a slow February, or part of a larger corporate ethos. The salesman tried to sell me a water heater, which I do in fact need, but also tried to say my 2019 furnace was basically beyond repair, and that I would need a new furnace, and because my AC was also the same vintage it would be best to get a new heat pump as well, for "peace of mind." The total came to $30,761.83. Here's exactly what happened. 1. The year prior, on a maintenance visit, Save Home Heat missed a critical repair, a major red flag, to fix the flue and combustion air for furnace. Flue and combustion air systems are key for safety, efficiency, and equipment longevity in fuel-burning appliances. 2. The salesperson tried to say what he called my 8-year-old furnace, which in fact just turned 7 in January, was old, meh (builder's grade), and pretty much beyond repair. He said the industry standard for my furnace was 12 years. The repairs they quoted me came to $3242.08. The salesguy said there were in fact probably more repairs lurking that he couldn't even see and best would be to replace the furnace altogether. Cost for a new furnace: $13,464.12. When I did get a second opinion, as strongly suggested by friends, I went with Carbon Valley Heating & Air. Dale Moe, the Carbon Valley service manager, said industry standard for furnaces was in fact between 10 and 15 years, and my furnace was well worth repairing rather than replacing. Estimate for Carbon Valley's repair, for flue and combustion air for furnace, and for return air in basement: Cost = $1898. 3. The Save Home Heat salesguy mentioned my furnace was grinding, which it wasn't really doing. He also showed me an amp reading and said the motor was using more than was indicated. His reading was 2.41. Therefore, I would need a new combustion blower for $898. The specified amount on the nameplate is 2.35. When Carbon Valley came and did a reading, their reading was 2.2. 4. Save Home Heat, in their estimate, quoted a repair for the blower wheel ($431), blower motor replacement ($850) and for a pressure switch ($224). Carbon Valley said the blower was "not grinding nor compromised, was balanced and showed no signs of needing repair." Dale said the furnace would not be working with a bad pressure switch and this another unnecessary "repair." 5. Save Home Heat then went beyond suggesting I replace my furnace. (February, given its mild temps, was apparently a very slow month for the HVAC trade!) He said, since my AC was the same vintage as my furnace, and therefore on the edge of its life, why not consider replacing both the AC and the furnace and swapping in a heat pump? Again, for "peace of mind." A heat pump would save me money on propane and since they were replacing everything at once they could really get in there do a great job of modifying the return AirDrop and supply ducting. Cost for a new furnace and heat pump: $25,195.57. 6. Save Home Heat used the classic sale tactics of creating fear and urgency. The salesman mentioned this was all pre-tariff pricing--God knows how much the new 2026 pricing would be when it would be instated very soon. Also, he pressured me more by saying their offer was only good for February, giving me roughly a week to come up with a decision. So my takeaway? Always get a second opinion for big ticket items. Always be skeptical and curious about every single line item. Work with a company that has proven its integrity and is worthy of your trust. As for me, I cancelled my membership with Save Home Heat and will not be working with them in the future. read more

* PICK A DIFFERENT COMPANY * Terrible customer service and systems that are not reliable. We paid more than $13k for a new system in June 2022. It stopped working within 2.5 years and they took zero responsibility - referring us to a contract indicating they only take responsibility for 12 months unless they were paid annually to service it (the system was regularly maintained with new filters, etc. just not by them). HVAC systems are an enormous investment and the HVAC systems we have purchased from other companies for other homes have lasted well over a decade. The system Save Home Heat installed worked for just 2 winters. Highly disappointed and recommend other local HVAC companies such as Efficiency Comfort or Cooper Heating and Cooling instead. read more

These people replaced my unit five years ago and serviced it every year. This year, they serviced it and two days later it stopped working. I had them out four times and they recharged coolant which lasted only two days. They couldn't find the problem and wanted to replace parts for $8500 for just a coil, not counting labor or recharging coolant. The warranty was supposed to be ten years but they only filed a five year warranty. By the time they diagnosed the problem, we were past the expiration date. These people are crooks. We found another company that was very responsive and fixed our system for one third the cost with a warranty to cover the repair. Follow up: appreciate the follow up from the company but too late for me to want to engage with all the falsehoods that I have experienced. read more

Absolutely disgusted. Almost 800 dollars to come replace a capacitor in my AC unit. Charged me 290 dollars for a 20 dollar capacitor. When asked why a 20 dollar capacitor is 290 dollars "because I'm here and I have it and know how to put it in" said with a terrible attitude. . Yeah thats what the other 500 dollars of fees are for??? showing up for 240$ and a BS "cleaning" fee for another 200 dollars. I'll start off by admitting that I earned a one star review as well for my experience with Save Home Heat. I scheduled them to come out and do a routine service visit on my furnace which I bought from them 3.5 years ago. The tech came out said everything on the furnace looked great but that my flame sensor was close to failing and he recommended replacing it which he would have done during the service visit except he didn't have the part. The service visit set me back $224 and the estimate for the flame sensor was $226. The following morning I wake up and the furnace is not working. Odd, as the tech just gave it 2 thumbs up so we assumed it had to be the flame sensor. So this prompted me to search online about relacing it and I discovered the process takes about a minute and the part cost $12. It did take 2 days to get the part and we quickly swapped the old one with the new one. Our furnace still didn't work. We spent about 3 hours going nuts because everything was testing out. It then dawned on me that when the service tech left he failed to turn the gas line back on. We had assumed he would have left it on but once we switched it back on, everything worked. Needless to say my wife and I were furious and embarrassed. $226 for a one minute repair and a $12 part? As a Lennox supplier one would think they would have flame sensors stocked in their vans and not commit highway robbery with a $226 estimate. read more

We have used Save Home Heat for various projects for about 20 years. They serviced our very old hot water (boiler) heat system until it needed replacing. The timing was right to upgrade to a high efficiency model which we did. However the technology was new then and the furnace worked well for some years but did not last as long as predicted industry wide. After researching online, I discovered it was not worth repairing anymore as the brand was no longer in business and it would be impossible to get parts. We upgraded to a newer model of a longer running company. That turned out quite well, though it has more electronics and does sometimes need some fixes. This most recent repair though had nothing to do with the newest furnace and everything to do with the 1979 remodel that installed the zone system throughout the house to be able to heat the addition and a better system for the original part of the house. One of the valves in one zone component had failed. I called Save Home Heat and they gave us an appointment for today. A service tech who had been here before was able to do the repair as he carries many traditional parts on the truck. It is now running well. We have also bought some ductless AC units (mini-splits) from this company a few years ago as our house had no central air and it could not be installed as we do not have ducts since we do not have forced air heat. It is a great solution. They service those too and most, but not all of the house can be cooled well enough, now that summers are so hot here. We have lots of shade trees that had been sufficient until a few years ago when climate change brought us summers so warm. They are a good company to work with though they do get busy, so it is not always easy to get a tech as quickly as this time but they have never left us without heat in severe weather. All of these units do require advanced tech from their staff so it is not an inexpensive fix but it is also necessary to do right. The phone staff has aways been accommodating and the sales people knowledgeable. I started with the company founders who are now all retired but the newer staff does just as well. read more

I so much, want to give this company a 5 star review. Their customer service is very good. Their technicians and services were great. They are over all a good company. However, I live 7 miles outside of Boulder in the foothills. They charge a "Mountain Fee" of $125 over and above the cost of the visit to come to my house. Even on a sunny day in good weather. Apparently we are 32 minutes from their office. Yet 32 minutes in the opposite direction does not incur a fee. $125 is a lot of extra money, almost half again what the cost of the visit would have been. That makes me feel taken advantage of and leaves a sour taste in my mouth. So sadly, I will have to use someone else. read more

Save Home Heat came to diagnose my furnace failure on the coldest day of the year. I called when they opened and they were able to schedule a technician a few hours later. When Chris arrived, he was very friendly and explained everything he found. Unfortunately repairs were going to cost too much for an 18 year old furnace. He called Chris, the co-owner, who was able to come right over and review my needs and put together an estimate for the replacement. We decided to replace the AC and water heater at the same time and Chris offered an extra discount. I wanted a cold-climate heat pump and they had one in stock, so they were able to start preparing it that day for installation later that week. Xcel Energy and Lennox both offered huge rebates, which made the heat pump even more affordable. I can't wait to see my gas bills drop. My only disappointment is that the Lennox unit is not as efficient as other brands at the coldest temperatures. The installation team was friendly and efficient and completed the work ahead of schedule on the same day including a detailed walkthrough of the new networked thermostat and the settings on the heat pump. They cleaned everything up before they left. The whole process was smooth from setting up appointments through paying the bill. read more

What a crazy day! Discovered our heat furnace wasn't working. Save Home Heat was totally booked, but one of their top employees stopped by to see if it was something quick. It wasn't, so he loaned us 3 small personal heaters to get us through the weekend. Then, because one of his next clients didn't need as much time, this employee returned to our home, replaced the motor, and got our heat running. What damaged the motor??? A bird, which had made its way from the outside vent all the way to the motor (about 5 feet)! This also explains the smell which had started several months ago, but I could never find what I thought was a dead mouse. I could not remove the gaskets of my older bath room faucet and my kitchen faucet had an annoying and expensive drip. Save Home Heat came and not only replaced my faucet gaskets - but we wound up changing the faucets themselves as they were so far gone they could not be prepared. The extra nice piece is they also changed the water valves under both these sinks so I can easily use them. That is so great because my water main is one floor away. After two service calls, it is my pleasure to have met Jeremy. He is a great asset to your company. He did a great job repairing the A/C and added much value as he fine-tuned our HVAC system. Hard to believe this story but while he was at my house, a cold water pipe (which had been leaking for who knows how long) burst and flooded our lower level. Jeremy said he was (also) a certified plumber and he was willing to work until the problem was solved. He checked all the hose bibs outside. No leaks. Checks all the HVAC intakes on the main level. No visible leak. Back downstairs to the lower level and Into the ceiling searching for the leak. Using shears, he cut a window through the duct and put an iPhone and flahlight into the void and recorded video. Jeremy heard water spraying. Before long he had located the leak, cut out a section of bad pipe and replaced it. All in a days work. I'm sure the rest of the "mitigation" will not go as well.
