    Wegmans - Don't mind if I do!

This is the Wegmans closest to my mom's house, so whenever I'm back in Buffalo, this is my Wegmans…read moreeven though I used to work at the Alberta Drive location. Naturally, I still find myself frequenting this Wegmans whenever I'm back in Buffalo. The Amherst Street Wegmans has a massive parking lot, though you would never know it during the peak hours. Between how popular this store already is and the addition of the Wegmans Wine & Spirits shop in the same plaza, it's usually pretty packed. You might not snag a spot close to the entrance but you'll find a spot. Might I suggest that patience is basically required, as with all things Wegmans. Once inside, I'm almost always overwhelmed (in the best way) by how much there is. Prepared foods, deli counter, meat and seafood, bakery, flowers, produce, frozen foods. You name it, Wegmans has it and they probably have a Wegmans branded version, too. I love browsing the craft beer section and, more recently, the growing selection of non-alcoholic options (Thank you, Wegmans!). Honestly, I can't complain. Yes, Wegmans can feel overwhelming, but now that I don't actually work there anymore, I've grown to appreciate the variety, freshness, quality, and pricing. The things I would do for Wegmans to come to the West Coast... until then, I'll keep savoring every visit to Weggies while I'm back home.

As usual the store had the shelves filled with a lot of good stuff! My wife found a tea made with anise, and am drinking it while typing this: IT is delicious! I also saw one thing I always see on the West Coast but not elsewhere: oyster sauce! I used to use this for pork ribs and soups which gave it a unique and tasty difference. WoW! There are always great bargains at Price-Rite!!!!

I really like PriceRite, and this location has a bit better parking than the busier one in Elmwood…read more So, on the surface, PriceRite is a discount chain and competitor to Aldi. But that's not really entirely accurate or fair to PriceRite, which has a huge selection of produce typically thought of as "ethic" (e.g. yucca root, green plantains, etc.) and thus on any given day resembles an immigrant market as much as a traditional corporate supermarket. This ethos is reflected in much of the rest of the selection as well, with all sorts of Latin American spices, sauces, and grains, among other things. Also, it's a super-secret repository of Huy Fong Sriracha when Buffalo as a whole has been hit by yet another debilitating shortage. You also find odds and ends like clearance wicker torches for super cheap. There's a grab-bag feel about the stock at any given time that makes it seem like a distant relative to Marshalls. All is not paradise: the checkout machines are wonky and hard to use, I can never seem to find any hand carts, and the beer selection is nothing to write home about. They seem to have missed the memo entirely about vegan meat and cheese being a thing now. But I have other stores for that stuff, and this one is a really great place to load up on the veggies.

Tops Friendly Markets - Looks nice but tables need a GOOD cleaning

I went in this weekend for my flu shot, which would be first one at new spot. Booking an appointment was easy. Wait times also we're fine. The pharmacist was nice and I barely felt the poke! My only suggestion because I booked my appointment online, I would assume all the paper work would be ready at my scheduled time. Which it wasn't. Still with that it took less than 15 minutes in and out.

This store has been renovated so everything looks so clean and new, and the fish fry was one my wife noted as better than most other Tops stores we have had it at. The roomy dining room had NO TV as does most of the other Tops store, BUT it had a huge round clock you could watch it slowly tick the minutes, plus it was NOT clean though many other store employees were there while we were, either for a break or a meal. As usual and what is the routine at all Tops dining areas, we got napkins and cleaned the table top ourselves, as well as the chairs too. The restrooms also needed attention which was very lacking. I also thought it strange as though separated, there were no separate doors for men's and women's restrooms. The parking lot was very dark as it was after sunset when we stopped in.
