The tops on Sheridan is terrible, the staff are very unprofessional and are more focused on their conversations and having fun than helping waiting customers. The manager does not even care to discipline them. The food in the pastry section is not fresh at all and very displeasing. Since having to switch pharmacies, I moved my scripts here and have turned this into my go to tops. The staff is friendly from the cashiers, to the service desk, and the pharmacy. I went in this weekend for my flu shot, which would be first one at new spot. Booking an appointment was easy. Wait times also we're fine. The pharmacist was nice and I barely felt the poke! My only suggestion because I booked my appointment online, I would assume all the paper work would be ready at my scheduled time. Which it wasn't. Still with that it took less than 15 minutes in and out. read more

This is our first ever visit to this Tops store. A quick walk around while waiting for our fish fry, and the store seems bigger - MUCH bigger than our regular Tops spot closer to Niagara Falls. This store has been renovated so everything looks so clean and new, and the fish fry was one my wife noted as better than most other Tops stores we have had it at. The roomy dining room had NO TV as does most of the other Tops store, BUT it had a huge round clock you could watch it slowly tick the minutes, plus it was NOT clean though many other store employees were there while we were, either for a break or a meal. As usual and what is the routine at all Tops dining areas, we got napkins and cleaned the table top ourselves, as well as the chairs too. The restrooms also needed attention which was very lacking. Tops generally work well with Bottoms, but in our case, Barbie and I are both Tops, and then sometimes for each other we switch like Will Smith said to do. He doesn't have to cuss in his reviews to get followers. But I do. So f*** him and f*** you too. This Tops is not bad and I like that it has a microwave in its Cafe because that was a big deal to me. I stopped by here to warm up some food recently. It's right across from my Salad place so I go here con mucho regularitito. See my Espanolito is mas bonito! I tend to walk to this Tops, and at some point always have to cross a Delaware. Wedged between Delaware Rd and Ave, this Tops sits next to an empty Bonton. Despite this, traffic is pretty busy when I arrive, and end up bolting across the street like a mad woman. Crazy mad, not angry. At least not until I get inside and find that Covid has made them take away all the handbaskets. To be fair, they have a sanitation station for carts, so one could assume they don't want any basket contamination (even though they're a fraction of the size), or that everyone has stolen them, because plastic bags are banned, and people are too cheap to buy paper, despite the low cost. I refuse to take a cart, because there's hardly any elbow room. I'm always swerving in and out, trying not to get hit as I look for the sales. Unlike other local Tops, I don't see any discounted produce. Which considering how past its prime it can be (shots fired at you, Meadow Tops), is probably for the best. While I wish there was at least one non-green banana, I'll take what I can get. Which given the size of the crowd, is not much. I struck out on getting what I wanted, so I hit up the frozen section to check out the discount rack. I've gotten lucky before, but generally speaking it's pretty paltry, offering pumpkin spice cocoa in January. There's baked goods too, but not anything worth the price sticker. Luck finally hit me when I headed to pharmacy to check out the protein bars. The section was stocked, and I grabbed a few (thank you sales and coupons) before heading to the checkouts. I've been to many Tops, and can say that these self serves are the best around. They are plentiful, but beware. Not all take both forms of payment. I was paying cash, so I had to choose carefully, but the system was pretty straight forward, and even rewarded me with a coupon for soft pretzels. If you're going to choose this Tops, stop at the coffee shop to power up. Or do your shopping online and park in a predesignated spot to avoid the crowd. Better yet, cross the street to Aldi, the, albeit similarly packed, better option of the two. Unless you're racking up gas points, or stocking up on their infamous buy two get three deals (gotta load up on chips for game day, go Bills) it ain't worth it. read more

Ordered the turkey dinner for thanksgiving! Got there at 8:00 am to pick up my meal. It was ready, got it in my cart and picked up a few more things. When I got home and opened the box I pulled out a turkey factory wrapped with red netting and my heart dropped, it was supposed to be cooked. I read the label and it was a fully cooked turkey. Got all the sides in , had to carve the bird. Lots of meat.!!!! The sides were delicious. We had a great meal, everything was great. At a fair price. The store was clean in spite of the crowds due to Super Bowl Sunday. I have had a rain check for a product for a long time but other Tops never had it. Very happy this one had it so made my way to check out. Lines were very long so I went to the self checkout. Due to the rain check I had to ask for help. The young lady came quickly which was great but I explained the problem she said not a word and pressed buttons on the screen but seemed confused. She abruptly left and went and talked to someone, came back and still didn't know what to do. She left again and spoke to someone else came back and worked on the machine some more and left again. During this time she did not say a word to me. I guessed she was done so was able to pay and left. I was just really surprised at her lack of any interaction with me. Yes she helped but her representation of Tops is terrible. read more

It's also double punch day if you have the card. Quick Shop didn't find too much prices are up there. What I did get was fresh express garden salad for eighty-eight cents can't beat that price. If I could give zero stars I would. Let me start out by saying this Tops, on Sheridan and Delaware has the rudest employees. No one smiles, says please or thank you. I had an issue today, they put Jennifer Modica on to watch the customers at the uscan, self service... she didn't know how to check a price or how to do much of anything... asked for the help of a woman that has a dark complexion and long, straight, dark hair, she has worked there many years, she's part of the rude crew there... she actually walked by me and said that I'm rude. That's right, I'm rude because you put someone in charge of uscan who doesn't know what she's doing, etc... It's really too long to write but this Tops has the rudest employees ever!! read more

Tops is in financial troubles and it shows in the stores. The parking lot is not that full, nor is the store. The stores need and overhaul, the floors, the shelving units, everything looks a bit shabby. The prices are not always the lowest, best is to shop with coupons. Than it is worth it. The gas points are sometimes a good deal. Usually the base gas price is higher than BJ's or Delta Sonic, but with gas points you might be better off. read more

This is a smaller Tops, but it does have gas. So add up those points and fill up the tank! There are so many Tops in Buffalo, I dot understand how they all stay open so close to each other. However, this one is in a prime location, there's no Wegmans nearby and as fare as I know no other large supermarket. Parking is easy. Walking in I found the veges to be good, although they didn't have a huge supply of tomatoes when I was there. They carry the yogurt we like that some other places (and Wegmans) don't carry, so that was great. Because it wasn't busy, checkout was fast and easy. I find some things at Tops to be far cheaper than Wegmans or Trader Joes, like eggs when they are on sale, but then other things, like ice-cream, cost more. If there was a lower number than one, I would give it to them. A recent sale of buy 2 get 3 free on soda got me to grabbed 2 Pepsi's and 3 Canada Dry. Both sodas on the same shelf and each had a sign under them stating buy 2 and get 3 free mix or match. At check out, I did not get the 3 free. I went to the customer service desk to get my discount, they were closing (at 6:20 pm) and sent me to the self checkout desk. The three associates at the self checkout desk wanted me to go to customer service. Once we got that straightened out, they tried to figure out why I did not get the 3 free sodas. After checking the newspaper and shelves, they had no idea why I did not get the items free. After a discouraging comment about the cashier and trying decide which one would call the manager, they called. This took about 10 minutes. The Associate received a call back and took my receipt to the manager. The Associated came back and informed me that I was buying Coke and Pepsi products and that was not allowed. I didn't understand how I was expected to know who manufactured what products and the Associates advised I could speak with the manager. I watched the associate go to a manager, 10 feet from me. I waited 5 minutes and finally walked over to the manager. I expressed my displeasure with how the items are displaced right next to each other and no signage stating manufacturers. As a consumer, I have no way of knowing there was a distinction between the two brands. I asked for refund because I didn't want to pay full price. The manager told me I could not get a refund because the customer service desk was closed and I paid with a credit card. Finally, the manager told me she would give me a refund if I said "Please". I said Please. I got my money back in cash and not as a credit on my credit card as I requested. The store manager never apologized for any inconvenience or wasting my time. Herein lies my problem with Tops, or perhaps it's my problem all customer service in general across the board. If it's the second, then to this Tops I say, to the victor go the spoils. Three times today while I was in this store shopping, I asked for help locating a product and three times I was disappointed by the service I was given. The third time however, a Tops employee told me "I don't know man - I don't look at the products when I stock the shelves. I just put them where they go." Awesome. Translation - find it yourself. Every time I go to this store I have a problem!! Today, the deli charged me $10/lb. more than the item I bought. Luckily I caught it before I left the store. Then I was over charged at self check out by $20! I brought it to the attention of the employee overseeing the self check out and she said I had to resolve it at the customer service counter. The girl there was rude and insisted it was my fault. Eventually she agreed to credit my visa card but I told her I wanted cash which she said I couldn't have. I showed her the $20 cash voucher the first person gave me and then she unhappily gave me my money. This is the worst store!! They rarely have items that are on sale - I think it's just to get you into the store. The employees are obviously very unhappy there and take it out on the customers. They purchase bad fruit - sour, spoiled, or simply rotten. The meat is the lowest quality - tough and over priced. The only hand sanitizer station in the entire store is by the bottle returns. I will be driving to Wegmans from now on where the quality, customer service and prices are so much better!! read more

Standard grocery store conveniently located by my apartment. Produce has increasingly become fresher, crisper, greener since I moved to Buffalo, I still prefer Wegmans when it comes to the organic/natural foods section, meat and produce. Wegmans gives me the happies when I shop, Tops gives me the happies at the register. Tops gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside when I go to check out and my Tops card drops my total by $10-$20 - that feeling does NOT happen at Wegmans. There is also affordable gas tied into your bonus card as well, offering discounts when you regularly shop/fill-up at Tops. This location is open 24/7, offers hot meals (I have never tried), pizza (I have tried, I would not try unless you are extremely hungover and not opposed to some mediocre breakfast pizza), Red Box and all your standard grocery needs. The beer/hardciders, etc. are located at the end of the line of cash registers - this took me a while to find for some reason, so hopefully this tip makes your grocery store trip a little quicker. read more

Back story- paid all the bills and had $100 left for food and gas for a week. A check unexpectedly came in mail last night, like a gift from God. We needed the money so we called Tops last night to ask if a check could be cashed signed over to my daughter and was told yes. So we paid another bill leaving us at $0 with a $400 check. The man was very nice and said as long as she had ID it was fine. I had to work so she could cash it and get groceries. I signed it over and she went in today they said they cannot do that. Now I get out of work so I go in there and she tells me, in a rude and condescending tone that they cannot do that. Even with me there, owner of check with id because I signed it over to her. She kept asking me who told me that, I should have a name. " I ALWAYS say me name when I answer the phone." I requested to speak to a manager and she proceeded to call him and present to him while I am standing there, " I told them four times, they aren't listening. They want you to tell them." How about, someone gave them wrong information and this is the only money they have can we help? No, she told me to get a bank account. I have one, it's Saturday, I had to work which is why I called before signing over to my daughter. She treated us like trash. I make $60,000 a year, single mom, own home, we are struggling right now, many people are, and needed that money and she acted so ignorant and looked at us and spoke on phone about us like we were were dumb and unworthy. I don't care if I'm on on her taxpayer dime, and homeless everyone deserves dignity, compassion and respect. How do you know where someone is at in their life? Disgusted by her and the store. The manager on the phone was clearly feeding into her negativity based on her response, I KNOW I TOLD them FOUR times. "I told them you can come in tomorrow but my manager will tell you the same thing." I hope someday if you are in this situation that someone treats you with grace and kindness because that is certainly not what she was taught and not what she was trained to do. Won't be shopping or doing business at Tops anymore and they really should consider sensitivity training to their front desk staff, especially her. It's one thing to let someone down even if it sucks, but it takes a special kind of ego to break someone's spirit and humiliate them and I'm a pretty tough cookie. read more

Well, I usually go to the Elmwood location but have started liking this one more. I think it's a bit smaller and totally set up weird (aka not what I'm use to). But whatever. Carts are always available. Usually always clean when you enter. Very rarely ever see trash in the parking lot. The bakery lady helped me find some stuff before and was kind. The one lady at the deli, not so much. Felt like I was inconveniencing her by asking her to cut me fresh meats that are not all ready pre cut. However the older guy with the accent is very nice and always zips the bags shut. :-) read more

I ordered 29 items from instacart to be picked up at this Tops location. The signage is hard to find when you are unfamiliar with their pickup location, like me, and I turned in from Sheridan by the gas station. It would be nice to have a couple of signs telling you where their grocery pick up is at, from each entrance so you don't have to drive around trying to find it. Once I checked in, the worker showed up quickly but did not come up to the window to talk to me or even let me know that was there, I happened to look around and saw them in the mirror. They loaded the groceries in the paper bags into the backend of my car, closed the trunk, and left without a word the customer service was subpar, at best. Once I got to my home, I unloaded five paper bags and found my bananas in the same bag as the canned items, causing them to be bruised. Then, I found that both pretzel bags had holes in them, which is frustrating. I do appreciate that the person that bagged my groceries put the eggs and parsley in a bag marked, "fragile" and the dairy items in a separate bag with nothing except dairy items. Overall, the signage for grocery pick up and customer service needs improvement, but the way they bag their groceries is ok, try not putting bananas with canned items. read more

This is my neighborhood market. Sure, I have another Tops down the road and two other leading markets within 10-15 minutes in either direction. However, this Tops is more friendly and although constantly busy, I'm not waiting in lines for too long. It's always clean, organized, and fully stocked. Of course, if they don't have what I need, I go elsewhere, but that's to be expected. Oh, and by the way, if you haven't tried their hot fried chicken, you're missing out. read more

This store has the worst customer service ever! It's closer for me than Wegmans but I normally drive to Wegmans because of my previous experiences. Tried to give it another chance today and it failed miserably. If you ask anyone a question they seemed perturbed and appear that you are bothering them. Parking sometimes can be a pain because it's a very busy parking lot. You've got the gas station, Bon-Ton, hair salon, bank and then add-in people that dont know how to drive ... what I love about TOPS is that when you shop and buy certain products (they select specials for each week), you get points and those points add up and take off $0.10 for every $100 you spend. Some of the items have the buy 2 of this and get extra points deals. It's awesome because gas has gotten expensive. (Cue the part where I say, why when I was young, gas was under $2.00) They offer the prepared dinners, pre-cut veggies, spiralizer veggies, pre-made dips and pre-cut deli trays. They also have a sub/pizza shop, where they have already prepared foods and can make on the spot. They always have good deals and if you are a coupon clipper, you end up getting some great bargains. They also have a redbox kiosk in the front. The cart people are always on top of their job. The deli counter offers a good selection and they have pre-made salads; ham, Turkey, chicken, potato, antipasto, coleslaw, etc. I purchase their rotisserie chicken because then I can just make rice or potato or add in salad and I'm set for an easy meal. I've used their fried chicken to make buttermilk fried chicken chicken salad (Paula Deen recipe. Google it. It's ah-mazing) The cashiers are not always polite and some could use a lesson in how to properly bag ... every time I've needed a manager, they've been on top of things and are very easy to communicate with. I've dealt with very friendly employees, so NOT ALL the staff are bad. It's okay with cleanliness, but the bathrooms definitely need some work done ... and when I say some, I mean it's a rescue 911 sitch. I don't know who designed this layout but they certainly know nothing about grocery shopping. First of all you have the Bakery at the end of the store and that makes sense but you have the regular bread aisle somewhere in the beginning of the store so I constantly have to walk all the way back to the other end of the store and try to find the bread. I am constantly walking back and forth trying to find things. Yes you have sign up in front of the aisles but you cant really just stop in the middle of the aisle and read. The heavy things like laundry detergent etc are at the end of the store by the bakery so if you want to buy anything from those aisles you now have to take the time and rearrange your cart to put heavy items in. It took me over 2hrs to shop the other day because I had to keep looking for things. This is the reason I stopped shopping at Wegmans but maybe I need to go back. Shopping here has turned into a nightmare!! read more

We shop at the Sheridan/Delaware store. This store is what a Supermarket Should Be. Bright airy and well stocked with a true variety of brands, not always pushing the Generic or Store brand. I've noticed some prices are higher, but what good is lower price if the product you really want isn't on the shelf. I shop to buy what I want not what is available. The staff is always helpful. The pharmacy is great, you can even get your driver's license eye test there for $10.00 and they enter it in the NYS Motor Vehicle data base so it's there for you to renew (within a State specified time limit) your license online. Service and fresh abundant products is what this Top's is all about. read more

I come here off and on..as Wegman's is my main grocery store. However for the most part it gets the job done. Convenience is key here as my bank is here and work is close by too. Majority of prices are too high to do a full shopping haul, so I like it for quick stops etc. Went to send money by Western Union on way to work yesterday..turns out girl made an error and I had to leave work and have it fixed immediately (she put in wrong State!) as someone was on the other end waiting for the $. They apologized a few times and fixed it..as well as gave me a $5 gift card for my 'inconvenience'- Luckily they did something as it really was inconvenient to me and my friend waiting on the $. Majority of staff have been there for years...a few bad apples, but I suppose that is anywhere. I mainly use self checkout and I'm good with that! read more

My standards are never high for a Tops to begin with, but today had an extremely negative experience here that will prevent me from ever returning. Came to simply return a DVD to the Red-Box located right inside of the entrance. Parked for exactly 20 seconds off to the side of the store with my hazards on, while my boyfriend ran in to return the DVD, and in no less than 5 seconds, some aggressive woman employee came running up to the side of my car to tell me to move. I proceeded to move even further out of the way, waiting for my boyfriend to return in now less than 10 seconds, while she proceeded to run up to the side of my car and verbally assault and aggressively gesture at me until I had to pull out of the parking lot, turn around and pick up my boyfriend, who now at this point had been waiting outside for 30 seconds having already returned the DVD. Furthermore, it was Easter Sunday, and no one was at the store to begin with, so not sure why she was so wildly aggressive as to chase me down in the parking lot twice. Never going back here, definitely lost my business. read more
