Before you eat anything, go to the bathroom so you can see the sink. I run to see it every time I am there. It is seriously a work of art. It might take you some time to even figure out that it is a sink and not some rich man's bidet. The whole place for a pizza joint is really clean and "upscale"-inspired. Very nice decor -- not even sure why they spent so much on it when its demographic is pretty much poor college students. The pizza is efficient, nothing crazy good, but the strombolis, now there is your winner. Great strombolis, can be watery if you get very vegetable heavy options, but still really good. Try the sausage pizza. You barely can hold it up as the individual slice is so big that it bend under the weight of the crust. The BBQ chicken is equally as delicious. Forget California Pizza Kitchen! You look to your left. A refrigerator full of beer. All types. You're the true college frat boy and had developed your taste for beer over your many weekends of pong and this is heaven for you after a hard day at the gym. This place is good bar food, that's really all. The slices used to be huge but recently they're shrunk up, makes me sad. Everything is moderately priced so it's not really worth what you're getting. Although the service is mid-range during quiet hours and a little on the slow/mistake-ridden side during their busy periods, Sava's is a fabulous place to go for both Italian and Greek cuisines. Brick oven style pizzas with interesting and traditional toppings are a staple at this joint, sitting fabulously atop crisp, yet chewy crust that will remind you why your love for pizza began. Only go if you are willing to wait an hour plus for your food. They are never busy, which makes it surprising that they are still in business. I went there once before, and thought it was decent enough to come back. We walked in for lunch this Sunday with a party of four. We placed our order. All of us got some sort of sandwich. We waited and waited. After a half hour, the waitress came over to offer us sodas because we were waiting for a while. We kept on waiting, and we asked to speak to the manager because there really was no excuse for waiting an hour so far for sandwiches. He was not very nice, and said there is nothing he could do, making the excuse that the kitchen was backed up even though no one was in the restaurant. I love breakfast so while my fiancé and I were staying at the Sheraton hotel downtown Philadelphia we decided to order from a local restaurant and it was the best breakfast I have ordered in a while. I ordered the philly French toast and a 3 egg omelet platter and my fiancé ordered the rock and roll French toast with a 3 egg omelet platter also. The French toast was 2 thick slices perfectly browned with great balance of toppings, they didn't over load the French toast with fruit and sauces. I won't say the platter was the best but it was good I enjoyed the omelet it came with potatoes and a choice of bread or bagel. Nothing really to complain about this trip to Savas in Philly! My friend recommended this place to me and said it had good wraps, so we decided to pay a visit! The hostesses were really nice and welcoming! We got seted at our table and immediately ordered a buffalo chicken wrap! I was expecting much for some reason, but I was pleasantly surprised! it was one of the better wraps I have had - perfect balance of buffalo sauce and ranch dressing. OH! Sava's I know we just met and all but will you kinda.....marry me? I am head over heels in love. Sava's for me is like a pair of killer Louboutin strappy sandals that some green sales girl mistakenly priced for $35. The decor is sleek, classy and modern and the prices are tawdry, cheap and sleazy. But in a love it so much, just don't tag me in the pics on Facebook kind of way. Yeah $4 for a Magic Hat, and $5.50 for two slices. One ginormous, scrumptuous, "don't you look at me with those judgment eyes while I inhale this so vulgarly" slice of Margharita pizza, and another for a jalapeno, onion, chicken, sundried tomato, where, have, you, been, all, my, life slice called the Fiesta. I think I found the Holy Grail and it's good pizza and beer at a nice place for a miniscule price. Or maybe I've been abused by prices from living in New York too long. Was at Savas yesterday afternoon with my family for the third time..the 2 stars is because of the rude server in the afternoon shift. Ordered beer from the tap, was not very cold, hence asked her which other beer on the tap is cold, 'coz this was not. Her reply- "I cant help you with that, if you want a bottle, the menu is right there" (pointing to the beer list) in a rude & stern tone, and walked away. Either she didn't want us there, or just didn't like us I guess... she needs to check her attitude and come to work. She still got her 20% tip, despite her rudeness. This is an interesting Pizza place. I'm still searching for 5 star pizza in Philly, but this place was a solid contender among the better 4 star establishments, in my book. The pizza had very fresh toppings, and the crust was good, but not amazing. It had a bready crust with thick, chewy bubbles around the edge (a plus for me!) but the crust was too thick for my tastes, and it was too uniform. I also thought that the pizza had not been cooked at a high enough temperature--it seemed to be uniform (no toastiness around the edge). This place advertises "brick oven pizza" which I think is misleading. I don't care if the oven is made of bricks or not...when I see "brick oven pizza" I think high temperature and I don't know what temperature they used, but the pizza looked like normal, low-temperature, more slow-cooked pizza. There was also a marked absence of spices on the pizza. All three of us who ate here agreed that it was bland. Thankfully, we were able to add hot pepper, oregano, and parmesan and make it more tasty, but I would really appreciate more spices (especially garlic) included by default on the pizza. The atmosphere in here was sleek and modern. Very clean aesthetic, but darker and the color scheme made it a bit warmer than modern decor usually is. I thought it was quite pleasant inside. It was oddly formal looking in certain ways, yet with low prices and while still being a pizza place. I'd go back here, but I think I'm going to keep trying other places first because I really want five star pizza. If this place wants suggestions of how to break into the five star zone, I'd recommend: * More spices, especially garlic, on the pizza. * Thinner crust * Higher-temperature, quicker baking. Yes, it makes it trickier to get it just right but that's the point. Everything else was good...loved the toppings and I loved the chewiness and bubbles in the crust. read more

Your typical college campus food joint. Run by students and filled with students. The service is slacking. I waved our empty water pitcher in the air for 5 minutes and nobody came by to refill our pitcher. I had to walk up to our server to finally get water. The same happened with napkins, ketchup, and our check. The food took a while to arrive which was shocking considering the only people in the restaurant was our group of 4 and 2 other parties who already had their food. I got the southwestern wrap and it was plain. Would rather go to chipotle and get a burrito there. Moka's (the previous tenant to Savas) was shut down after they got caught selling booze to under-agers. (I'm not going to tell you about the time that I may or may not have been involved in a plot to break into Moka's after they closed in order to retrieve/borrow/claim some left behind hookahs inside. I'm also not going to tell you about how the tiniest of wimpy crowbars was used to pry open a door, nor will I tell you how the alarm went off with sirens blaring and guns blasting and it was intense. It didn't happen. It wasn't me.) Four years later, Savas has opened for the spring quarter. I wasn't expecting much to begin with and I was neither impressed nor surprised. Just another pizza/Italian place, but they sure did great with the interior and exterior. It looks like a lounge, but they've got a lot of work to do. I went on a relatively quiet Tuesday night and the bar stools were all occupied by students. Some people at tables but not many. 3 people greeted us at the front and told us to sit where ever we'd like. We chose a hightop and then continued to wait 10 minutes before we finally flagged down a server. Server was cute, extremely nice, and caring--just needs some more experience. Menu is really large and mixed. They have brick oven pizza, bar snacks, and various entrees. Food was ok. Price was ok. "Meh. I've experienced better". Suggestions 1) Need quicker, efficient, and attentive service 2) Music was great but could barely hear it, pump it up! 3) Dim the lights! It's a researched fact that people will typically eat more in lower, more comforting lighting. Better for my eyes, better for your wallet, Savas. 4) Less tables, they were lined up like a cafeteria. 5) Needs booths or couches to complete lounge feel. Bad health practices even for non-COVID times. They have a sign that says masks required but no one In the kitchen (it's an open kitchen so you can see) was wearing a mask nor were any customers walking in. One person working in the kitchen wiped their nose with their hand and then continued to handle food without washing it. They were also eating while handling the food in the kitchen without washing their hands. I would not recommend going here during the pandemic and probably not after either if you don't want to get sick. The foods okay but not worth getting sick over. I stopped in to try the lamb gyro here. I had high expectations after I heard from a friend that the gyros were really good here. I was very disappointed. The tzatziki sauce was flavorless and there was way too much of it. The meat was also flavorless and there was very little of it. The pita bread was mediocre. They put fries in the gyro which was just strange. However on the upside they sell a decent variety of six-packs, and the owner is really nice. So I am doing this since GRUBHUB has told me that I am denied a refund for food I ordered and will not eat. Plain and simple poor service, especially to a customer who orders regularly from them. I ordered two chicken parmesan, and had someone bring in my food while I was not home. Once home I opened the food and noticed there was black hairs (a few inches long) in each of the entrees within the melted cheese. Plain and simple a mistake was a made, but I am not given a refund because it was 2 hours since my food was delivered... not sure why this would matter, not everyone eats food the second its delivered... Overall, disappointed. Food is usually good though and delivery is always on time. Any reasonable owner would issue a refund or atlas a credit towards the next purchase. read more

Oh Savas.... you make me miss college. The slices are huge and delicious (I've heard that they've gone downhill of late but I stubbornly refuse to believe it). There's a bar here, so you can drink if you want, but.... I'd recommend skipping that and saving all your room for the pizza, chicken fingers (with honey mustard of course), fries (dipped in ranch of course), salads, paninis... you get where I'm going with this. I've gotten delivery from Savas before with some coworkers. Usually I get the chicken quesadilla. It's a pretty big portion that I can split with someone. It comes with fries and guacamole and salsa. The next time around, I actually went to the restaurant with an old friend. Service was a bit quiet; I only noticed one person taking orders. I ordered the BBQ chicken panini. The sandwich was large and cut in two and came with an order of fries. The panini came out toasty and was very filling. I ate half the sandwich and packed the other half. Went here for dinner with a friend not too long ago. It was the definition of A-OK. The atmosphere was decent. The meals were exceedingly cheap, but as equivalently "OK" void of anything that I felt was spectacular. I had a buffalo chicken wrap, and my buddy had a chicken caesar salad. The dishes strike me as your typical pizza place food with a clean/decent sit-down atmosphere at a very affordable college-campus-location-minded price and the availability of having a liquor license! This place delivers, in more than 1 meaning of the word. I haven't had a lot of stuff from here other than the pizza, but it has always been hot, fresh, and made well. The pizza is also really consistent. It has looked and tasted the same every single time. They're reasonably priced for a pretty good sized pizza and they do a good job with putting on a lot of toppings. The other thing I love about them- they deliver even if you're a little out of their delivery zone and it'll still get there fast. Savas does a good job of recognizing their repeat customers which is a huge plus in my book. Why only four stars? Overall though the pizza is really good, it lacks seasoning and can be somewhat plain at times. Would be great if they added some oregano or garlic and maybe some more robust marinara sauce. I get takeout from Sava's a couple times a week and tend to stick to the wraps and paninis, although their chicken wing bites aren't bad either. You get a good amount of food for the price, and although it is nothing special, I don't come here expecting a 5 star meal. They do have a nice variety of beer in the coolers behind the registers, so if you're looking to grab a 6 pack or something when you're picking up your food, this would be a good choice! read more

This is a local spot for Drexel students to get a decent meal for a good price. They offer anything from pizza to paninis to hummus. The service is pretty slow in general, I've been a regular for 6 years and they go through servers frequently. They sell six packs at the front and also allow you to pay your bill separately at the register. The chicken platter gives you so much chicken for only $9- $10, plus two sides. The salads also give you a hefty amount of meat. A slice of pizza is a classic go to here, or a wrap if you're feeling healthier. The breakfast is the weakest part of the menu, so I'd recommend it more as a lunch spot. There is literally never a wait to sit down, so this place is great for larger groups.
