We came here after a long day of exploring Big Bear! It was our dinner spot, and we thought it would be a good choice since it had such great reviews. We stopped by pretty early for dinner, around 5ish, so this was just before we started seeing a bunch of people come in for dinner. We were glad we came when we did because we were able to get seated in less than five minutes. Since we were a party of six, we definitely ordered quite a bit. We got two medium pizzas, some pasta, and wings. The pizzas were super delicious! We got the Bambino's Chicken Pesto and Fito's Favorite pizzas. They came out hot and were loaded with toppings. The crust was nice and crispy, and the topping-to-crust ratio was perfect. I'd definitely say the pizzas were my favorite out of everything we ordered. The pasta was okay, not my favorite, but still enjoyable. The noodles were definitely cooked more on the well-done/soft side, whereas I personally prefer my pasta al dente. The pasta was also super saucy, and there was quite a bit of it, so you definitely get a good portion. The wings were pretty much what you'd expect from a standard wing. They were juicy and had a nice flavor on their own. Paired with the dipping sauces, though, they took on some different flavors, which I really enjoyed. I also really liked the vibe here. First of all, immaculate playlist. Perfect bangers. Love the decor and overall vibe. Casual but still serving a night out. The wings were perfection. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Very disappointing experience. We were a party of 6 and were told the wait would be about 25 minutes. We ended up waiting over 40 minutes while watching multiple parties of 4 and 5 who arrived after us get seated before us. We asked the hostess numerous times if we could split our party so we could be seated sooner, but were repeatedly told no. Meanwhile, smaller parties that came in after us continued to get seated. We understand restaurants get busy, especially on a holiday weekend, and waiting is sometimes unavoidable. What was frustrating was the poor communication and lack of effort to accommodate us after we had already been waiting longer than originally quoted. The way the waitlist was handled made us feel completely overlooked. A little better communication and customer service would have gone a long way. read more

I visited this place around 6:00p on a Friday night. At this time it was really busy but we only had to wait about 20 mins (put your name at the hostess and check back periodically). People had dogs but were limited to outdoor seating (good hearing lamps though). The pizza was delicious and came in 3 different sizes. The crust was crunchy and the meat and cheese tasted great. We also had a Cesar salad that was fresh and crunchy. For alcohol I tried the berry hard cider which was great (not to sweet, not to bitter). I loved our time here at saucy mamas! We walked in and were able to get a table on the patio immediately! A lot of people were waiting for inside tables but personally I loved the outdoor patio area. Saucy Mama's is a solid GOOD pizza place in Big Bear. Perhaps he best pizza on the mountain, but not the best anywhere. Was camping in local campground and it was dang cold and I was sick of it. Came here. Ordered a small pizza with pepperoni, mushroom and tomato and a small ceasar salad. Pizza was awesome, ceasar good minus one detail, and another ding for timing of service. 1. Was served salad and pizza at the exact same time. Man, I'd have liked to have eaten salad before it got soggy and pizza before it got to room temp. 2. Ceasar dressing tasted a little watered down, but still good. 3. Pizza was crisp. Pepperoni could have used another 1-2 minutes in oven to get that a little crispier. Overall would easily go back and just be more specific to put pizza in say 10 minutes after I was served salad. read more

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. There were six of us, and after giving the host- John our name, we sat at the bar only a few feet away from him while we waited. During that time, he seated two other parties, including a group of 12. When we asked about our table, he claimed he had called us and we didn't answer. My husband explained that we had been sitting right next to him, but the host rudely replied that we never told him we would be at the bar. He then walked away without explaining what we should do next. When I asked whether I needed to put our name down again, he pointed to a table and said, "It's ready over there." There was no apology and no effort to gather or seat our group. He placed menus on the table without even letting us know, so we had to seat ourselves. Thankfully, our waitress was very nice, but unfortunately, the food wasn't good either. Between the poor service from the host and the disappointing food, we will not be returning. This place was good. My family has had a house in Big Bear for years and we have always wanted to try it, so we finally did. We ordered a large pizza and after tip it came out to just under $30. A bit expensive for what it is. Overall, not a bad pie. The crust was thin, nice and crispy underneath but not burnt and the toppings were good. The service was pretty standard for Big Bear, nothing over the top but they were nice. The restaurant was small can can't accommodate large parties (10 or more) and what wait list was long. Came here on a packed Saturday afternoon and tried the Tracy's Choice pizza, chicken caesar salad, tater tots, and chicken strips. The tater tots and chicken strips came out pretty quickly. A little too much batter on the chicken for me, but it was also super crispy and the chicken was juicy - pretty good! The tots were also a bit over, but I did enjoy the crisp. The pizza and salad took a bit longer to come out - close to 20 more minutes. But it was busy, so I get it. Besides the weird cutting on the pizza, it was pretty good! I appreciated how it wasn't super hot - just hot enough that my kids could eat it after only a few minutes of waiting. It's pretty much a Hawaiian pizza - my kids approved. This is the second time I am reviewing Saucy Mama's and I have mixed reviews for different things. Hear me out. My significant other had called to place a pickup order. After going through the entire order, we asked if they did a military discount, of which the guy said, yes, but indicated we had to show an ID for it. We said we had it and would provide when we picked up. but guy said it had to be in person and they need to do payment via phone, and then the kid hung up on him. Upon calling back my boyfriend asked if he could speak with a manager, and the person said there was none there (6pm on a Saturday), and no owner or anything. Literally no one to speak with who manages the place. He asked the kid who he could speak with to help us, and asked for his name and he refused to give his name. So I decided I wanted to still try the pizza, I went to order in person and bring home. Met with Christian, who was very nice and helpful, who took my order to go, entering every detail right in front of me on the screen. Then I asked him who the owner and / or was because I wanted to speak with them about the call and he indicated there was none and no manager. I asked about Diane Murray - listed in an article I found online who was said to be the owner and he indicated it wasn't her. Said the don't have any manager or owners, that the article was fake, they have no website (true) and all they needed to run were Yelp. When discussing the phone call he indicated several times that they are one of very few places in BB that even allow takeout. And it's very difficult to hear with the noise of bar/restaurant, and they are super busy- so basically, with what I was hearing, I had no one to comment to regarding customer service. While waiting, I Decided to hit up the fudge shop we love next door to be able to utilize the 10% off with saucy mamas receipt. Happened to ask the woman there if she knew who owned saucy mamas - and she indicated was same owner as the fudge shop. She indicated: Tracy Gonzalez and Adolfo. Ok. Makes sense with one of the menu items being after Adolfo. It would be nice if either of you would see this and understand what goes on with your business. While the food was delicious, I am not sure how I could honestly recommend going here with these kids running the place. Went back to saucy mama's and picked up food. I will say- Christian, thank you very much. You were informative and put in order with details- adding the ranch! Just a shame we didn't get the chicken we paid for with the Caesar. For the food. Loved the pizza, great bubbly and perfect crisp crust, not too much sauce and my half - meatballs, garlic, tomatoes were great- mouth watering an tasty, just a little inconsistent with meatballs on some slices compared to others. Other half pepperoni, garlic and chicken. Their chicken is cooked perfectly and delish! Ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. Extra dressing and croutons on side. Croutons and dressing were fantastic. but they forgot the chicken. So $4 lost for that miss. Again, shame bc the chicken is good. Mozzarella sticks were thin and crispy. Did not want to call again to deal with no manager or owner. So, while I'd say the food is pretty good, the busy chaos of the restaurant makes it hard for good service, especially if you wish to order takeout. And pickup with a small area at end of bar for order/pickup. Busy is good, because food is good, but the rudeness of kids manning the phones was disappointing. Honesty by Christian was appreciated, but No accountability, no management structure or sense of order. Felt like a just young kids running a restaurant with no leader. I am disappointed to say we wouldn't go back. It's hard to post a review with good food and not recommend, but I truly feel customers deserve respect, a sense of responsibility and order from a restaurant to provide great value - and without that I would not recommend. On a random Monday night during what folks up here call the "shoulder season" the place was about half full. I wanted to order their baseline product of a pizza and was delightfully surprised that the pizza was really really good. Our pie had pepperoni jalapeños and extra cheese. We ended up re-heating it on a pan later that day for dinner and it was surprisingly good! The pastrami and artichoke hearts were my favorite. The artichoke tasted really fresh, and the pastrami was a nice touch and very unique; I don't think I've had pastrami on pizza before. The crust was fluffy on the inside and not too hard. After placing our order, we didn't see our server again until the food was brought out, and we didn't see him at all after that. We ended up asking another staff member for the check. While the food was great and the atmosphere was fine, the lack of attentiveness from the service team took away from the overall experience.
