On our visit to Big Bear we ordered pizza from Maggio's not one, not two, but three times!!! We were there for 5 weeks, so don't judge. Anyway, we had never eaten here before so we decided to give it a whirl and it was a hit! From the moment they answered the phone it was like chatting with an old friend taking my order (this happened every time). The atmosphere is so incredibly friendly and welcoming it makes you want to stay a while and make friends. We ordered large pepperoni, cheese and mushroom pizzas as well as a Cesar salad and it was all delicious. The pizzas were huge and the sauce, ingredients and bake of the pies had our tastebuds dancing a happy dance. Prices are more than reasonable, we fed our family of 4 for $30 and it was good! Next time we come to town we will have to try all the other specialties on the menu. I highly recommend Maggio's for the food, ambiance, and the service. It has been five years since we've been in. Glad we came back. This will be a normal stop when we're up at the cabin. This place is a unique pizza shop. Not sure where to start. My last review I gave them a five out of five and this time if I can give them a 10 out of 10, I definitely would. The restaurant had a fair amount of people in it when we walked in. We were promptly greeted given some menus and told we could find a seat and when we were ready to order come back to the counter. At her seats, we looked over our menu and decided what we want, and I went back to the counter to order. The young lady who took my order was just delightful. She was very friendly and asked some clarifying questions about what we were ordering gave me a number and our cups and the transaction was made. When we sat down, we came back up to get our drinks, and there was a young man at the drink station who was very polite willing to help with anything we needed. We went back and sat down after a few minutes. Our pizza was delivered by the same young man. He was very attentive asking if we needed anything. And went back to the front of the drink station. He immediately bust and clean tables as they became available and checked on people periodically. There was another young man there with him. Both of them were extremely polite and professional with all of the guests. The service is out of this world. We had our pizza and it is amazing. There is a huge difference between pizza cooked and a pizza oven and pizza cooked on a conveyor belt. The pizza had a crisp bottom crust which always sets pizza apart. The crust was amazing and the toppings were abundant. The wife ordered a salad, which was your typical run of the meal salad for a pizza place. The food was outstanding. We will definitely make this a stop when we're up here. Can't wait to bring the grandkids. read more

We loved our pizzas! I got the Mediterranean and it was SO good. My friend got the build-your-own pizza. We took them to go and had a wonderful night in. They give you a decently sized cup of ranch for only $1, but we felt it was too watery. The wait was long but not too big of a deal. Overall we would eat here again. read more

Another stop for our family of 6 at Maggio's upon our arrival to Big Bear. We did the same last year and liked the experience. Once again, good pizza and a cold beer - exactly what we are looking for after a 2-hour drive! We came in around 1 pm and it wasn't too busy, we ordered right away and found a big table inside. The team there is friendly and efficient. It's located in the large shopping plaza along with Vons. They have Tesla superchargers in the lot now - YAY for that! Parking is plentiful, especially if you park towards the main road. The restaurant is clean and spacious. We like that they have a soda fountain machine so you can get refills as needed. Pizza was good, hot and had plenty of toppings. We didn't get the salad this time but that decent too. Their ranch is yummy, we got one side to try it with the pizza. Interestingly good Italian food, in the mountains. This has been around forever and the food quality has stayed the same. We had the pastrami sandwich, one of the best I've ever had. It has been 25 years since I've had one and it didn't disappoint. The taste was exactly as how I remembered. Lived in Big Bear for 12 years! We also had the spaghetti and pizza for the kids and gluten free pizza and a calzone. All were delicious and the family enjoyed them all!!! Truly remarkable customer service -- plus they also have the best pizza in Big Bear! We ordered and drove out to pick it up. When we arrived, the place was packed, with no seating available. I believe it was because they were closing soon and couldn't seat anymore guest due to full capacity. That's when we realized they must have good pizza! We waited longer than expected, but they took care of us and apologized for the delay. The owner or manager gave us a discount for waiting past the allotted time, and we truly appreciated the gesture. Let me tell you, we all enjoyed their pizza--spot on and very cheesy. Great-tasting pizza made with high-quality ingredients, paired with extremely friendly service. Picked up pizza memorial weekend 2026. Super friendly over the phone to order pizza for pick up. Friendly in person for pick up. Inside was clean and busy and felt like a pizza joint! We ordered a 12" pepperoni with pineapple on half for my wife (no, pineapple does not belong on pizza, but I love my wife sooooooo...). The pizza was good, but I thought it could've used more sauce. I'd give Maggio's a solid 3 stars--there were a few decent things, but overall it didn't quite hit the mark. The gluten-free pizza was probably the highlight, around a 7/10. It was decent and definitely edible, but nothing I'd go out of my way to get again. The salad, unfortunately, was pretty wilted and didn't feel fresh. The soda machine was also disappointing--everything tasted watered down, which didn't help the overall experience. On top of that, the place itself could use a bit more attention to cleanliness; the floors looked like they needed to be swept. My wife and I wanted to have lunch and see the World Cup soccer game. Maggio's is not a "sports bar", but they do have a big screen television mounted on one of the walls in their restaurant. They could not have been more accommodating and gracious about it. They changed the channel, turned on the sound and it was a great place to view the game. The impressive part is the food. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and it was one of the best I've ever had. The bread was very fresh and the pastrami was very tender and piled on generously. This was my first visit and I can't wait to go back and try more of their offerings. I've heard great things about them and they lived up to the hype. Highly recommended! read more

I was hesitant to come to this pizza spot because of the negative reviews but decided to give it a try. I am not a huge pizza connoisseur, I just like what I like. The pizza was good tho, 9/10 I didn't get to try the wings but my kids liked them and finished them. My daughter got the lasagna and loved it and she's a very picky eater. The funnel fries were very easy but that is expected. Okay, so food.. 9/10 Now... Service. Now I can see why the negative reviews on the service. It was very packed when we got there, we got it to go and was told 30-45min. I came back around 35-40min later to get my food and it still wasn't ready. There were a lot of people waiting. But as I was waiting I was able to see the cooks in the background, working on the pizzas. These guys were not chit chatting or standing around or just ignoring orders. NO. They were prepping them from scratch, working hard putting pizzas in and out of the oven. Pizza like this from scratch isn't done in 15-20min in that case just go to Domino's or Pizza Hut if you want something fast. My food order was done in almost exactly an hour but that was the time I heard they were giving everyone. I didn't get bad service, the girl helping me out looked unfriendly but she was very nice, just trying to get all of the ours out. I can see the people sitting waiting being exasperated bc their orders are taking forever to get to their table but please go and take a look at the back so you can have an idea of all the hard work they're putting in! When you're in Grande Oso, you gotta eat like a Grande Oso. I'm nervous when trying pizza places because they're usually overpriced, and serve some basic food. Kind of like many places these days just serving the same Sysco crap that got microwaved and slapped onto a flattop for texture. The food industry kind of blows now. I show up, and it smelled like Snoop and Martha were in there parking lot making the pizzas. Like old men used to say "son I didn't inhale, I got a contact high". Once I got the pizza home, my wife noticed that the box smelled like Snoop's House. I told her we spent a moment with it in the parking lot and that was it! It wasn't even mine! Anyway. The crust is crispy, yet foldable (which is an absolute must have) the cheese and sauce had good flavor. It seems like they add some "herb" ya don't normally get in sauce these days. I liked it. A damn fine number of shrooms and pepperoni, like a lot. They didn't cheap out. The cheese pull out game is phenomenal. That's another quality that you have, or you don't. One of my favorite chain pizza spots is Filippi's. They load you up with cheese, but it's like eating a brick, since it all comes off at once. We ate the entire pizza in one sitting. It was weird because my eyes got dry, and the only thing that could satisfy the hunger was more pizza. The pizza sure made me laugh the whole way though! Oh my. The service is great. The salads are great, but the meat is not real. The first time I went there I got the lasagna. The sausage did not taste anything like sausage.
